[Q] Where are apps installed? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am really considering getting this deice, when it's released in Holland (in about 4 weeks Asus told me).
Anyways, before I do so, I have 1 (simple) question.
Where is the OS en the pre-installed Apps installed and where will new apps be installed?
I mean, on my HTC Desire, I had to install a custom Room with A2SD support to get my apps installed on an ext2 partition on my storage-card. Because the memory is to lw for my demands.
So what about the Asus? Is the OS and all loaded on the 1GB internal memory and will new dowladed apps also go there. Because 1gb seems to be lot, but will be full in a blink second. Can the 16gb storage be used for apps? Because apps will grow in size...

Yes, you can use the 16GB internal memory to store apps.

You seem to be confusing two types of memory involved. 1Gb is the amount of RAM - used by software which is currently running. 16Gb is the amount of internal storage - this is what is used by installed apps and any other data that you put there (/sdcard is just a folder in that internal storage in case of Transformer).
So you'll have that entire 16Gb (minus whatever the OS itself takes) for your apps and data. Plus, of course, you can put data on an external SD card (which would be mounted as a folder under /Removable).

in android 3.0 you can use the whole internal storage to install apps, so days are gone for app2sd

Nexus S Free Space After Wipe
What's the free space on your NS? I've got about 6 apps downloaded. A couple are games but other than that, none to big. My internal storage shows 834MB free. How much space is available for internal out of box? I really don't want to wipe to find out. Currently it's sitting at 860
The phone has a internal SD card.. so it says you have 800+ of internal phone space but you also have a additional 13gb+ of internal SD space.. so no worrys..

Error - Insufficient storage available

When I try to install something new I get this error.
Checking my partitions showed that I have free space.
What can I delete to clean up some space? In which partition do I need to do this?

Hi,
Whoa, ur SD is full... Take out some media(pics, music or movies)
Then puts some of ur less used Apps on ur SD card.
Then from here:
Move apps to SD card.
Good luck
Vs Nexus S4G using tapatalk2
I moved some of my apps to sd and was able to install new ones.
So its the data partition that get full. What can I delete from this partition to make more space and how?

Hi,
Some people go so far as to put all their apps from play store on SD card since they want to keep all their phone space and RAM free for a faster phone.
But to do so they need space the SD card So less media (movies & music) on it since they are the memory hog. If ur Rooted, the memory hog is ROM backups. So if u use ROM manager go to that file and only keep the backups u need.
The only suggestion I have is to keep all system apps on ur phones memory for faster accessibility.
Good luck

SD card is fine, but upon further testing I think the phone storage is lying and is only very small
Do you have root? Some Samsung phones (I don't know if it applies to clones too) fill /data partition with log files (many MB every day). You could navigate to /data/log (or similar) and delete all *.log.gz, *.txt.gz
A handy tool to check where is space wasted is Disk Usage
Also note that some EMMC need reboot to update free space records, so phone may report memory is still full until you reboot.
Ok, thanks for the tips. I have root, and will try your suggestions when I get time.
I think so some phones show the phone memory is full because the app installation space is full it differ to media storage rom so plz go to setting and go to app settings and move the most of heavy app to sd card i think so it may help and try it once..............and doing it power off once and then on it

Moving apps to SD

Just to be on the safe side: LG G Flex 2 Stock Android 5.1.1, not rooted

My problem is even though it says that 1.1 GB of the app is on the SD card it really isn't, it's still taking up internal storage. Or have I wrongfully assumed that App (SD Card) means it's on SD Card?
If I move to SD card, then back to internal and then back SD card only around 20 MBs are moved and it says under App (SD Card) 1.12 GB.
Any suggestions?
Also, should the System Data folder be 7 GB in size? Because it's pretty hefty : D
2 solutions either wait for android m where we can use a sdcard as internal storage or root
When you move an app to sdcard always some percent of data stays in internal storage
I think that my phone stock 5.1.1 had 9gb free out of 16gb.
Thanks for the response mate.
Yeah, I know it won't move the whole app, but what makes me wonder is why it says that most of it
is supposedly on SD, but it still takes internal storage (dunno why my earlier upload disappeared).
Is that just some kind of quirk of the Lollipop?

I think it was the same with kitkat also.
You can move apps but not the data files

[Q] Does the s7 support 256GB SD card?

Does it support it since i've only heard that the expandable storage is 128~max no mention of the higher versions:

nvm should have google before this but it seems it supports it without any problems
Yes it does and they work great with adoptable storage available via ADB. Hint there's a guide on here already

Basically the system will recognize the card as internal storage but it's disabled in the UI hence using a pc with ADB to enable it. I have mine set up in split mode with 215gb internal and 25gb partitioned external. There are a few quirks about it, never format the external partition as it will take the internal partition with it, don't ask haha . Also the system incorrectly reports total storage not a big deal. A quick search will tell you more. :good:
Samsung was giving away a free 256GB Micro-SD cards when purchasing an S7 as a promotion a few months ago. Mine has been working just fine so far.
Woking fine without any problems.....
