[Q] Battery Usage Statistics Not Available - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone else noticed that when they go into their settings->about tablet->battery use, that it says battery usage data is not available? It tells me how long my unit has been running on battery.....but not much else. Does this happen to everyone, or just to me because I haven't been using my tablet that much so there isn't much usage data to collect?

Yesi get the same just a graph showing screen on off times thats all

I believe it's a known issue. Hopefully it's fixed in the next update.

The first time I opened that I got something called DCIM, I think, that force closed, and it hasn't worked since. Was hoping the update that came in yesterday would fix it but no luck.

Yeah, this has been noted and known for a while... Here's a similar thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1057878

I asked Asus via email about the lack of battery information being displayed, their answer was -
"For the battery info, this will be available (more detailed) after a next update. Currently R&D is working on this."
Hope this helps

I see. Updated original post.
New version of the beta out, looks much better but has some issues with swype
is there anywhere to get the app for android since the beta stopped working for everyone today
I have the newest version which is build #0.9.9.1 and it's got the shut down button to truly close the app finally lol but they took out the ability to use voice notes which was cool... kinda like what Palringo has!! hope they put it back! it's still in beta so im sure before it becomes final they'll polish it up good!!
I just Confirmed BeejiveIM is using C2DM(Google's Push notification Service)! My EVO's battery is crying with joy. I can now leave it running in the background with barely any battery drain! HOORAY!

Very very interesting. Do you have the apk?
Edit: Forget it. I got it. Where did you read that it was using a true push tech?
Uninstalled. 100% wake time. Oh well.

Reading ABD logcat at first, then I noticed it actually shows it when you're installing the app and it asks for permissions. "Allow app to use Cloud to Device Messaging" under Network use.
Also notice that when you open it, it takes a split second to "update" your buddy list(Unlike eBuddy,Trillian and all others), proving it wasn't doing anything in the background.
I wouldn't let the 100% uptime keep you from installing this app. I am literally online the whole day and have noticed no major impact on battery life.
can you PM the link or how to get the APK for the latest beta?

I dont see how the 100% wake time wouldn't have a negative effect on the battery. Its not letting the phone sleep. Isn't the purpose of push technology to let the app sleep in the background and only wake the app when there is data to be sent?

First of all, my phone does not keep a 100% wake time when using Beejive. Even if it did, you need to understand what your phone is actually doing and what Android reports as "Wake time". Android can report your phone as "awake" while using 0% cpu and 0% network--Draining the same exact amount or even LESS as if the phone was being reported as "asleep".
My point is: People take the awake time too seriously. It's there to help you understand what app might be draining your battery but absolutely does not mean your battery is being raped. The system is really complex so it can and it WILL sometimes report your phone as awake, even though it's not draining any battery at all.

Yes. But like I said, Android sometimes reports the phone as Awake just because the App is sitting there-While using 0% CPU and 0% Network -- The phone is effectively asleep. It's using a push connection, and when a message comes in it will use some cpu and some network--effectively waking up the phone, using some battery.

do a fresh wipe and freeze bloatware, you will see a difference, i get 17hrs plus on my phone.
id say my battery is tough!
can last me all day and maybe enough for the next.
moderate use - lots of texting, phone calls, internet use, and some apps.
*sigh*
What rom?
What kernel?
How long of a life do you get?
Post your battery usage statistics. Settings-About Phone-Battery Use will tell you what's been using it since last charge, the app Spare Parts will tell you overall usage.
We can't help you if you don't give us any useful information.

Thanks for all the feedback sarcasim and all. I've never had a battery issue before I installed the recent apk of the new android market. That is my only guess.
Is there a way to revert back and wait for the official update from the market? (I'm still new to android so I'm feeling my way around)
I am running stock rooted. Nothing special on this end.

I pulled the SIM outta my G2x last week after my N1 came back from the dead.
With the G2x just sitting there without a SIM, being used occasionally for Riptide or Pinball HD and some web browsing/email while watching the tube I get a solid 3 days of battery life. I forget the stupid thing is even on until the alarm goes off every morning at 6:45.
Just don't use the phone part of your $500 phone and it will work great!
solution
it was the downloaded apk for the market. i did a complete reset so this should fix my issue.

[Q] Idle Battery kinda tanked?

So I got my M8 on April 2nd, and I was seeing some truly spectacular battery life. Recently though, not so much.. Or maybe I am just being demanding.
I thought originally my phone dropped maybe 4% overnight, now I drops from 100 to 83 or even 78 sometimes. And in general It just doesn't seem to last long. Looking into badassbatterymonitor I see that kernel is using like 40% battery almost constantly, but I don't know how to fully diagnose from here. It just lists processes. Has anyone else had this? Am I just thinking its quicker?
I like to keep my phone pretty lean, its got only email syncing, no social media. And even that I sync every 2 hours. Brightness on auto, and I typically get 2:50 screen on time.
Why would you post a question, including the [Q] - in General? There is a specific section called Q & A.
C'mon, dude.

All good, brother, it happens to the best of us. Just message a mod (they're usually the people in the very top stickied threads) and PM them.
But yeah, my battery hasn't been the best in standby either. Of course, I haven't stopped messing or flashing stuff to my phone since I bought it

really bad battery performance

Hi,
I bought my Nexus a week ago. During the first day the battery life seemed to be ok but since 2 oder 3 days it is really bad.
I didn´t really use the phone today (checked some emails and used for 2 or 3 really short calls) and the battery is emtpy after 11 hours...
Phone is rooted stock rom (CF) 4.4.2 since the first day. Any ideas?
Need much more information to get an idea what you do with your phone and how its setup. What features are running and stuff like that.
Rooted?
And do yourself a favor and get Gsam from play store, as well as gsam root companion after, if you're rooted. It has much more detailed information. The stock battery usage screen says very little to help find an issue.
Also, read through some of the following thread...start on last page and go back a bit. Tonnes of good info and tips there. A better place to discuss issues as well.

Same story of mine, you are lucky enough that your phone battery empty after 11 hours in my case it was around 8 hrs its gone.
Nexus 5 not smart enough regarding its battery backup. It is very normal problem in smartphones but N5 performance is worst among them.
Go through this , may it will help you out as we both are in the same ship.

Sorry but that is not true. It's been proven time and again that the N5 is one of the more battery efficient phones to date. Just because you're having issues with it doesn't mean we all are, there are many things for you to try but complaining won't help.

Some people just don't seem to want to spend the time troubleshooting, unfortunately.

i see this too often, but not as much on xda, more here in real life.
OP...there are threads about the possible battery issues with the N5 and how they can be fixed all over the N5 forum. Perhaps you could've checked those out first before opening a thread. However, I do agree with the assessment that it takes a bit more investigating on your part to figure out why you're having battery drain issues.
The picture you posted is just a microcosm of what things could also be draining your battery. Do you have apps running in the background? Are your apps syncing too frequently? Are Google apps running or syncing too often?
What fixed my drain issues was going into my Accounts settings and ticking only the Google apps I used on a regular basis (Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts) and unticking the others.
Seems just another post a question, then don't bother to return to see responses....or at least not comment on any of it...kinda thread. Lol
You can lead a horse to water, but can't make it drink.
Hi, I didn't have any more issues so far. Right after creating this thread the issue disappeared without any changes except installing the battery app mentioned in the first reply (and maybe a reboot).

Google+ Uploads Sync

I'm actually surprised no one realize this yet in XDA. But,
Since last update Google+ has this new sync in settings. When I left this unchecked, it will checked again randomly.
Do you guys know what is this service about?
Thanks in advance.
Curious about this too. It seemed to have replaced "Google Photos" sync.

I noticed this today. Im guessing this is the reason why all of a sudden my battery has taken a hit when not being used overnight. It seems to sync overnight and I'm pretty sure has an effect on the battery life, depending on the amount of photos you have.

I also wonder what is it for, I'm guessing it's not related to photos because one option above it says "Google+ Photos" at least for me...
