[Q] Where is Splashtop? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I thought Splashstop came pre-installed on the TF? Got mine yesterday - so far so good. But when I try to find Splashtop it is nowhere to be seen in the apps?
Am I missing something?
Also I understand I need to install it on my PC I want to remotely control - where do I find the install - I assumed ASUS site but couldn't find it?

You have to access it from inside the "MyCloud" app and go through a bunch of menus. I have found no way to make a direct shortcut to it. It is quite annoying actually.

It's in MyNet. Called MyDesktop.

I don't have either MyCloud or MyDesktop. MyNet I do have but it only shows media to be played and asks for DLNA connection.... My Net does not have MyDesktop or MyCloud in it.

Yeah, my bad. Didn't see your post when I posted. Don't have the TF yet, so I'm going off memory.

Presumably you still have the original firmware. There was an OTA which included MyCloud etc.
Regards,
Dave

That would make sense and leads me to my related question on my lack of OTA upgrade :-

you can always download the firmware upgrade from Asus website..
and yes..you'd better download it from your PC because you'll need to unzip it before put it onto your sd card

Thanks..... the Asus site says to download it and install it as per the intructions in the manual - checked the manual - no instructions there.
So Unzip the download and then put the files onto the SD card and from there on the TF do what?

The instructions on how to use the firmware file are in the SOP Manual which is the 3rd download on that page.
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/TF101/Update_Launcher_SOP_WW.pdf

Ok firmware updated and now I have MyCloud.
Where do I download the PC app from?

found it http://www.splashtop.com/remote/download?from=product
Nice of Asus to make it easy (NOT)

Download the file to your sdcard and use something like EStrongs file explorer to open the file.
Make sure you have Unknown sources checked in Settings/Applications/ section
You have to pay for it don't you
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

Pay for what? I mean yeah you pay for UVERSE TV service just like you would Dishnetwork or whatever. This app allows you to control your UVERSE DVR from your phone. Check out the channel guide and even download some shows to the phone. I think you need u300 or higher channel lineup though I dunno.
I just love being able to control my DVR from anywhere. I forget to record stuff all the time and miss out! This is awesome for me!

[Q] Screen capture?

Hi guys,
I've been looking but couldn't find an easy answer. Is there a way to screen capture on the Sensation?
Thanks in advance!!!
I got this from the Incredible S forums:
1.Download Android SDK (zip one)
2.Download and Install Java JDK 6
3.Connect phone to PC in debugging mode
4.Where you have extracted Android SDK, go to the tools folder and open ddms.bat
5.Click on the device tab and click screen capture.
6.Capture and save
Any way to do it WITHOUT using a PC?

Here you go

not without root if you don't want to be tethered to a pc

u could try this paid one.. maybe it works.. and if it doesnt.. u can always uninstall and claim refund (i think within a certian time frame)
So I go to the HTC Sensation support page and I see that under mechanical I see this issue (sorry I tried to post a link but I guess I'm too new for the forum to let me...something about avoiding spam...).
The second question is my question, is it not? But I can't seem to make is work. Anybody else try this?
*EDIT*
I went to the HTC website's forums and they said that this was some sort of misinformation. This feature currently does not exist even though it came from HTC themselves! Someone did state, though, that there is supposed to be an update soon that MIGHT have this feature...not sure if that also includes unlocking the boot loader!

Hello, I am a nubee to this forum and the Asus TF700T that I own. I selected the wrong firmware update(WW_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx now pending an install on my system tray) needed US_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx. Can anyone tell me how to eliminate the pending update. Thanks ... Tony
What do mean you selected the wrong firmware? Is this something you did for an ota update?
Sorry can you give more details please.

Yes, I went to the Asus site using my TF700. After I entered Android for the OS prompt, I selected download firmware. There were 10 files. Next - the screen wouldn't display the full list of available selection on my Tablets screen. I tried to move away with a swipe and the first selection(WW_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx), the only selection displayed, began to download. Other than shutting off the WiFi I couldn't stop the download and it now sits in the system tray of my tablet waiting for me to installed it. From what I can tell the firmware update I should have selected was US_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx. So, it is my thought that if I allow WW_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx to install I may render the Tablet unusable. If screen shots help I am sure I can get them to you provided that I have effectively explained the situation. Since I am a newb I can't enter the Asus URL for your convenience. But, Thanks for the reply. I can use the help. Regards Tony (T-Con)

Go to the file manager or the downloads app and delete the downloaded file from sdcard/download. Then redownload the correct one. The notification is not a prompt to install but notification of a downloaded file.

Ah it looks like you have downloaded the ota file manually. Not sure how to progress now. It's stored in the cache somewhere. Do a search on here about applying incremental ota updates manually and you will see some posts that instruct you how to reset the download.

K thanks! I have also put in a req. to Asus for help. If I don't find an exact instructional resolution on this issue I will call Asus for help. Thanks again and best regards. Tony (nubee T-Con)
first. you should have postet it to the Q&A.
Second: if you've downloaded the file from the asus site, it should be a zip file. which you would find by opening the app drawer, open "downloads" there the file will be, you can delete it.
then the message won't show up again.
then make sure every app is installed, that was installed when you buoght the pad.
tehn go to "about phone" update and check for updates, maybe try several times. then an update should appear, install it. repeat until you've the latest version
if that doesnt work, check out the summary in android general in this forum, and look for update ota without losing root, there you should find the ota packages and how to manually apply them

[Guide][WindowsAndroid] Install Gapps on WindowsAndroid

Download the program from: WindowsAndroid
Run as administrator and install the program.
Install Gapps:
1. Download gapps for ICS HERE.
2. Unzip the gapps.
3. Find the system folder that was unzipped, then go into the apps folder. Copy all of the apks
4. Go to C:\SocketeQ\windowsandroid_root\system\apps
5. Paste all of the apks in that directory.
6. Restart Windowsandroid
7. Enjoy gapps.
Note: You will now be able to add a Google account and get into Google Play but there is not really anything in the Play Store at this time.
Note #2: There have been reports that, this may not work on AMD processors. Intel seem to work just fine.
Very cool. Like you say, little you can do with it so far and very regular crashes even just using Play Store and built-in apps, but definitely one to keep an eye on.
The emulator won't even start.
I get an error in the cmd window that app_process(4776) terminated abnormally.
I got some screenshots if it helps.

Are you running it as an administrator? If so try removing the program from Add or Remove programs. Then going to your C: drive and delete the file SocketeQ. Re install the program, once it is installed open WindowsAndroid first. Then close it and install the Gapps after running it one time. See if that helps anything.

As of right now you just have to try and see what you can get to work. This is a very early release and so there are a lot of things that need fixed. I just want to let people know that this is out there and that its something to look out for.

Its been confirmed that images seem to work on all devices. Only thing to watch out for is what language is the image in, in this case US-English. Your device will install any language fine, its just a case of you do want russian instead for instance, or the big one earlier on is that there was only a british english image at first which if you were an american user would have a few things spelt incorrectly.
Have a poke around in trig0rs thread and towards the end there are a few languages, I assume you will just want this image anyway.
Got en-GB and en-US recovery images on my FTP...

If I understand the question, yes, you can use it to install regardless of what is on the drive. It could be blank and it should still work.

I think there are a number of tutorials online.
After you have booted from the USB Recovery Drive and when you get to the screen asking what to recover, don't be fooled by the "Windows 8.1" that it shows. That is the drive you want to overwrite.
