I was wondering what everyone is getting on 4g speeds. Today I ran it once and got 3.3MB upload and 1.5 mb download.
It's going to vary by area.
My highest download has been 6181kbps and my upload 1599kbps.
I live in the middle of nowhere.
On my iPhone 3GS the highest i ever got was 3000 or so kbps and upload 380kbps. So the hardware is capable, just need the towers to be able to keep up.
I have a friend with the HTC 4G for ATT and he once got 11xxx kbps download.
dont use the peed tset apps. they have been very inconsistant for me latey. i test on speakeasy.com with the browser. i get 5-6mbps down but only 500k or so up. my area has hsdpa+ but not hsupa+ and for some reson it doesnt use the available hsupa when conneded to hsdpa+. i have hsupa enabld on my captivate and get up to 2mbps upload.
Weird. When I'm at home it won't go over 2.0 then I go across town and I got 8.9mbps at my local Walmart ... central valley CA

Sort of off topic but how do you get that little box showing your speedtest.net results in your signature?
My highest was 9.4mbps download and 1.8mbps upload.
I'm located in Portland, OR.

I am wondering what kind of throughput others are getting.
Today at an intersection in Jupiter, FL I noticed full signal and decided to try Speedtest through Miami server: 9400kbs down/1250 kbs up. Captivate usually around one-third of that....and yes wi-fi was off

well im happy. it's not quite "4g" yet because my area doesn't have the backend for it. but it is better than the <1mbps that verizon phones see. some places the market wont even work on verizon 3g because there speeds are in the 100kbps area. t-mo is cool but coverage is not great.
Bump.
I'd like to see what speeds others have experienced with their Infuse. I'm curious because my GF's Infuse (see thumbnail) consistently gets 6-7 mbps down and .7-1.2 up. While my Inspire's upload is more consistent, my download (in the same spot, at the same time, to the same server) is usually significantly lower than the Infuse. Impressive. I've seen as high as 9+ mbps as well, and it hasn't been odd to hit those speeds, as they've occurred numerous times.
Same here infuse dl is much higher thsn inspire when tested back to back not at the same time infuse avg was 11 mbs down while indpire was 4.5 down uplaod was the same

ive gotten 14mbit down, hasnt really fallen below 10. ive gotten a consistant 1.2mbit up no matter how good or bad the signal is or how speedy the connection is, it always gets the same thing.
So I've been testing my speedtest app and I'm getting consistent 8-13 mbps up and 2-3mbps down. Looks like dc-hspa+ is a serious contender with category 1 4glte. The g2x is only category 14 getting those kind of speeds, its not optimized to even get close to the theoretical 42mbps. I can only imagine what kind of stupid speed we'll get once the Samsung Hercules is released! I must say today I'm very glad to have switched from Verizon's spotty 4glte and crazy slow 3g.
Your getting those speeds with your g2x? ?? How... highest I ever came close to was 4.39 ...

screenshots!
I'm pretty sure he means 8-12 down and 2-3 up... because I've gotten that too here in OKC. The G2X doesn't have 14mbps HSUPA. And if it truly is a category 14 device, then it should theoretically be capable of 21.1mbps down. HSPA+ is only a measure of the download of the phone. We're still using HSUPA to send data to the tower, and until we get more power efficient radio stacks, it's not going to get much faster than 2-3 mbps when you're lucky.
The most I've gotten is 8 consistent mbps in the AM. Drops down to about 4-5 in the afternoon. Uploads are never more than 1.4 which is weird to me. I'm in San Diego, CA.
I get from 3mbps to 8mbps down and never more than 2.8mbps up in orlando. But usually its between 4mb to 6mb down and .70mb to .90mb up...

My best composite score was done while driving home at 3:30am... I got 7.13mbps down and 2.76mbps up with a 46ms ping. Now I've gotten a little higher on the download before, but never that high on the upload with a good download.
EDIT: Looking through my results, I have a 11.8mbps down but it only had 0.71mbps up. :-\
The other day in Rochester I was getting 11mb/s consistently. Here in Buffalo I usually get around 3-6mb/s on good days

I've gotten 10+mb down and 2.5mb up here - Honolulu, Hawaii.
Just curious, by "dual-carrier" are you referring to the fact that 2 carriers now offer it? I guess I'm just confused as to what you mean by that term.

dc-hspa is when multiple carriers on the same spectrum combine they're resources to optimize data speeds and balance user loads on the network better. resulting in higher down and up speeds.

seeing as t-mobile is the only major us carrier that uses 2100mhz for 3g I doubt anyone is seeing dc-hspa.

Technically the sgs4g should get higher speeds since it has a 21mb/s capable radio instead of 14.4mb/s on the g2x
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Actually, Tmobile just upped their network to 42 mbps. That's why you're seeing higher speeds.
Dual Carrier (Dual Cell) has nothing to do with two cell companies (carriers) sharing resources.

The G2x and SGS4g share the same radio category 14 hspa+ which is capable of theorectical 21mbps download speeds.
is anyone in the 4g areas getting insane dowload speeds? I just ran ten tests at least and all were above 10mbps, the highest being 13.xxmbps. or is it mps? the weird thing is thst they all spiked in the beginning to rediculous numbers well over 100. then leveled out. does anyone know if tmonile has increased hspa+ yet?

1 week ago a handfull of cities were upgraded to support 42mbps down.
if you live in one of those cities you should see at least a 2x increase in your average download speeds.
That has been true for me.
I head they did. Check this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094377
cool. finally. im guessing im in one of the handful. fayetteville, nc was one of the first cities to get hspa+.

I live in Dubai the United Arab Emirates, I have a monthly 10GB 3G data package with my carrier DU and the speed is between 3-5 Mbps down / 1-2 Mbps up.
Enough for me, I can easily watch YouTube, upload videos and video chat.
We suppose to have 4G before the end of this year.

I usually get ~3mbps down, 1.8 mbps up with VF Greece.
It gets around 5mbps down, 1.9 mbps up after 5 o'clock in the afternoon, when people get off work.
I average between 3 and 4 Mbps down and 1 to 1.5 Mbps up here where I'm located in Michigan.

I guess. My NS always says umts, and it does support T-Mobile's hsdpa bands. My wife averages 7 to 8 down and 3 up with her G2x. (When it works, that is ...)
4g is called hspa+ on tmobile. Hspa is 3g.

For those who haven't been on the modem thread im posting this here.
Can somebody from northern California let me know what modem your having the better luck with. Also if you can post some speeds of your device and what area your in. As far as im concerned it really seems to me that there is literally no enhanced backhaul anywhere in Northern California. I have officially maxed out at 3.4mbps here in Davis near Sacramento. All help greatly appreciated. I feel like I've been lied to by ATT as far as this whole hsdpa thing goes.

Thanks so much everyone for the help here. If you guys can-I would much appreciate it if you could edit your posts with what modems you guys are using. Then others can kind of have an idea of what to expect with any given one of them. Thanks and lets keep this thread going! If you live anywhere in Northern California please do contribute!
