I was involved in the HD2 forum before Android on SD was a wild spert from a dev. and the community over there needs no words of compliment (it is a given) that they are awesome.
Then I traveled on to the G2 forum where the contributions there were amazing as well.
The Question:
Is the Samsung Galaxy S 4G community the WORST anyone else has had the misfortune of dealing with as well?
From:
Jumping ship and advertising other handsets
To: Opening the most rediculous threads Only to lead another person on.
And: acting like IPhone users.

Yes I agree with the original poster. I had this phone for about a week before I returned it because of the aforementioned reasons with this forum. Even offered to send my phone to a dev but got nothing but f'd up attitude from most everyone involved (besides the dev)! If I'm gonna have an android I want a community surrounding it that does not spend all day "DER DER #$% this is in the wrong forum, we have nothing else better to do but ***** @ everyone for attempting to get this community started!"
On a personal note, it sucked extra cause I had just sold my vibrant shortly before the 4g release cause that community also had seen its downfall in the past few months itself. Came over here to see this fledgling little group trying to get off the ground but not being in any way at all welcoming to any real thought provoking conversation. How dare we ask questions and talk about our phone!
As awesome as a phone as this is, it just does not appear that its ever gonna be a dev phone. Wish the opposite was the truth. Samsung is partly to blame for that also.

From what I've observed, there are a bunch of good people here and a few flakes. I believe it will get better as time goes on.

Back to the subject I think what affected this phone was that it came out too late after the Nexus S and too close to the G2x... I think if it had the extra space of the Vibrant we would be as good as that community ... or if it ran gingerbread ... but oh well... we do have less issues than the lather phone I mention...

I think it's just a few who think themselves "forum police". I honestly hope this doesn't turn into the "vibrant" forum's. Please TRY, I know it's hard at times, to be friendly to ANY one. New to old, dumba$$'s to dev's, try to treat them all as you would want to be treated (except for you self deprecating, masochist's ).
I always see everyone complaining about the Vibrant forum, I don't really see anything wrong with it. Or was it something that happened in the past?

I dunno, I'm technically savvy. I did alot on my G1 in terms of mod'ing. Google Experience phones are designed for that.
Anytime you get a phone with a customized rom though things change up a bit. Hence, the G2x is gonna get alot more in the community because it's a fairly stock build/experience.
I knew this when I bought the SGS4G. I like the screen (amoled), the speed etc. I'll probably get the urge to do some heavy mod'ing at some point, but for now I'm happy.
That's just me.
Sure this was a bit of a rant and like most could have been titled a little better. BUT atleast its not in the dev area. If this community keeps being stupid, can Mr. Clown close the whole thing, I don't want him too! But dumb asses keep creating thread that had answee before sgs4g even existed. Hence the sgs4g deal in the vibrant, I mean its not even a question when the answer was where they looked to create thier feeble attempt to go around krylon. Man give him a break! ****!

what issues are you having and sorry you feel as if the rest of the devs other then krylon dont meet your expectations.
I don't get it. What problems are you having with the phone? Why are you complaining about the community? If it's a problem, there are plenty of other forums on this phone (rootzwiki is pretty popular nowadays ). I get that it's frustrating sometimes. I get frustrated too, but please don't project that thought to the entire community. I help out here and there and I get flamed from the very people I help. But one again, let's just calm down. If you guys have an issue with the phone, just search and then post about it. I usually answer my pm's...as quite a few of you already know...

I can only judge it by what I have gotten out of it.....currently my SGS4G runs faster, cooler, and stays charged longer than stock. The audio is better, I'm running GB and I got my choice of 9 lock-screens etc, etc....
Ok, back to the drawing board!
I feel like such a dueche, I was really tired and my expectations were very high! I wasn't ready for any challenges and got very frustrated.
I only woke up this morning to see a kind friendly community among the SGS4G crowd. I guess I got spoiled over on the HTC side again.
My issues are that I feel like I am back at square one... Example: Flashing an EXT4, the only thing I could find was a universal zip for another phone which did not work. I really just need to put some time back into this like a noob again.
Once more I apologize and might just need to delete this thread for the sake of y'all being so nice... Uhg I feel like such an ass lol
lol dude, just take your time. I'm fairly new here myself, and don't find it all that bad. There are lots of guides out now to help you get through flashing a new rom, and there is always someone who is willing to help (I see Jager, FB, dsexton, and Raver in here a lot helping out people).
Anyway, just spend some time reading about the ROMs we have in the dev section now, and find one you like.
btw, getting ext4 on froyo is as easy as flashing the bali kernel in cwm. works great with any froyo rom (including stock). GB roms tend to be a bit tricky, but you'll get it if you follow one of the guides.
Put it this way, my SGS4g, NOT overclocked is running 3X faster than it did stock (according to quadrant) on one of the new crop of GB roms that are out now and is currently on 25 hours of uptime with 65% battery left.

What ROM are you trying to flash? I am currently on bionix frost and I love it completely. Runs on par with the GB roms. If you want some GB, look into icbinb GB or whitehaks new ROM. But let us know what you want to do and we can point you in the right direction...

I'm sure many of you are firmilar with evild's work on the n1, mt4g and other highend devices. I happened to flash his 3.0 rom on my wifes mt4g sand got to chatting with him. Hes interested in getting a g2x, so I told him id attempt to orchestrate a collection of funds to buy him a g2x. First things first, what will a no contract g2x cost? What is the cheapest anyone has seen one for sale off contract? Secondly, if anyone has an upgrade they are willing to donate, THAT WOULD BE PHENOMENAL! I'm good for $100 to start things off. Very good question... I can only assume so, since alot of his work is done with sense ui. I sent him a pm with the link to this thread, so as he reads through it, I'm sure he'll clarify on that.

have you been on the internet long? people are people. and you'll find people like that on any forum. i've seen people talking like that online since before the internet was mainstream. it's not only xda. there is no way to stop it. so just get used to it. but, i got your back on voicing your opinion as well. what xda needs is a dislike button. i've seen them on other sites. and after so many dislikes,your post gets hidden and members have to click "show" to see it.

People like you thinking it's ok to use these Roms for free without donating a dime is a FAIL!
These Devs work hard and long hrs. to make these roms for your phone to function and look better!
So a little donation wouldn't hurt for you to give!
Or better yet if you don't, don't bother commenting on it!
Don't look at it as paying for there phone, but rather an advance for work they are going to do for you!

Your idea is ingenious. I will take it up with a friend whose a mod here and see what he thinks. Not sure it will get too far but you never know.
That is a very good idea. Giving thumbs down to certain posters would warn other readers at this forum. It would also be useful against scammers who steal the Dev's work and pawn the mods as their own begging for donations. There was one on the Samsung Epic forum last year and on the Asus Transformer forum a few weeks ago.

Nothing has been ruined, instead of clicking on the link in the thread that would be posted here, which would take you to his forum, where you would click through another 6 different sub-forums, then find the thread just to get the download link.
Now all you do is just go to his site, instead of clicking on the link that would be in the thread here. He didn't stop developing the rom, he just stopped posting the change log here... OH NO WHAT WILL WEZ DOZ NOW?!?!?
He left, it's done and over with, how about people grow up and stop acting like it's the end of the world. If he had just said "I'm only going to post on my site because I choose to do so" everyone would be calling him an ass. But because someone "made him leave " everyone wants to flame someone who expressed an opinion...

To be fair, it never said on the OP that the ROM would fully wipe, only that it was recommended, that's a big difference. Chingy and the people involved are all immature.
I was trying to decide which ROM to run, BAMF 3.0 or Gingeritis 3D, but Chingy decided for me.

Some may agree some may not but the net is no place for thin skin. It takes little effort to be a keyboard Rambo. In my profession hate is everywhere and when the net was young and AOL 2600 was fast I to was there and little if anything has changed. Many forum have a ban or ignore button to remove users from a thread. I very often use it. (Don't know if xda does or not never needed to look). Many also have mods that stay on top of the threads and remove rif-RAF at will but even then people get upset and argue freespeech. Maybe this dev left cause he was tired of needing to police his thread or maybe other behind the black veil **** was going on and this event was just the last straw for him. But being a old fart Ive hard believing 1 troll ran him him off if in fact it was a normal 'poor me' blah-blah troll. Wipe or no wipe to be fair I've not seen 1 roms listed with out a disclaimer stating that said owner is responsible for said actions of owners phone and I know for fact this dev roms thread stated the same. The fact we all have to be thick skined doesn't mean that anyone has the right to flame and talk **** at will. Also I personally feel the disclaimer works both ways. This means to me that a dev or company or any entity which produces a product must accept that not all are going to always love said product and after all if a hot tub manufacturer must display a warning that if entered you may drown then why should a dev her at xda think that said downloaders are any smarter? No one that gets in a hot tub is that dumb that includes parents allowing kids around said tub unattended. The fact is if any of us produce or even give away anything then we accept that someone is gonna ***** about. If we can't handle that then we do need to take our product else where. However if any person finds this unknown land if milk and honey where all is good and as efficient as Al Gores Jock strap then please post said location here and count me in. Hell I'll even pay to move in.
For any noob that made it this far threw this post of diatribe and potential net manners that don't exist anywhere then your a brave soul so read this slowly. You are responsible for your phone and what you install. Wipe everytime even if not told to do so. If a problem does happen then post and ask for help. But know that someone may flame yer ass when you do. Is it right? No. But it may happen. After all what can said flamed do to you? Nothing really. However if you do allow said flamer to contaminate your pixels with meaningless bits of useless data and thus cause you to respond (much Luke this very post) then the said flamer has in fact won. Many here loved this devs work and while xda didn't make the dev it did help make the dev known and by default his work this means we all owe xda not the other way around. POSTING ones work here is not a right but a privilage leaving xda does hurt us all but it may just may hurt the dev just a wee bit more because of the message it sends to others. Then again maybe I myself am out of line for this view. I'm sure if I am then I'll be told so PDQ.

Not saying that was the situation here, but its happened before.
No doubt, I've only read that a user flashed a rom and got upset because he didn't fully relize/understand the ramifications of the new flash. Chingy didn't seem like an a-hole or diva to me but i didn't investigate his background too much. I just think it sucks to loose a good Dev regardless.
Seriously, I go to GTG's thread hoping for updates or legitimate bug reports or fixes and all I see is the same few people *****ing back and fourth. Literally making me sick seeing all that crap. Maybe those kids can grow up soon and business can continue as normal.
Bare minimum, can you guys please take your *****ing to an off topic thread? Hell, use this one if you have to, but please don't make those of us who actually care about development endure any more of your drama? thanks

I totally agree with you. Sadly, asking them to stop doesn't work, only seems to encourage them to troll more. I feel bad for gtg and the other devs.

gtg now has to start a new thread. that post was specifically for the v2. he is doing the best he can to establish the gb rom. but people flood that post like nothing to it, thats not even a v2 thread anymore. its a troll thread
My opinion is all this wok for the infuse by these devs is on their own time. They do the best they can with what they have. People need to stop harassing them for eta's and improvements, especially when they state that they are working on it before the complaints start. Before you complain read the first post, it most likely tells all.

Agree Dave. A couple of lamers (bella incl) should not cause a dev thread to be locked. Although gtg is off fixing an issue and chose to take down the link for a bit, there are still ppl that could benefit from healty rom related conversation. Bella and a couple of other bella fanclowns have already indicated they're chomping at the bit to go to the SGS2. Good thing I am not moderating... Lol. I would have already helped them along with a ban from the infuse forums.

Agreed. I browse other threads too just to gain more knowledge, and I have never seen such users. This kind of thing is embarrassing, honestly. Honestly, they all stopped after getting a warning from the mod, but one specific user started the whole mess again by calling out Bella. So thank you to that user for ruining it for everyone.

I do agree that Neo should have and still should suspend the privelages of the habitual offenders. There are people who legitamately have problems and would like to discuss them in a respectfull manner and interact on an intelligent level. My kids and myself included!
The few bad apples ruined it for all! I feel bad for gtg and the others that work with and support him. He worked hard to make a test rom and got slapped in the face again by the people that clutter his thread with useless garbage.
There has got to be a better way!

I really hope they all leave for the sgs2. Either that or at least that they end up getting banned from here. I can't believe how ungrateful they are for the work that gtg and others are doing. This kind of crap never happened in the captivate forums, so I hope it dies out quickly so the devs can get back to doing what they're best at. I know that if all of the trolling stops that they will be able to bring us greatness very soon. Neo...start swinging that banhammer! =]

Do not know but I have a gut feeling that when some members who have problem with gtg's rom leave this sub-forum we will see many more roms apart from much better (coming) gtg's rom

yeah sorry guys i was just ranting. xda is home to me and i hate whats happening here. i agree about the new sites not getting as much traffic. maybe some **** is happening in the background between xda and the devs and they feel by opening their own sites they can lure members away from here. IMO xda has been the place to go and it should stay that way!

I totally get developers wanting to have their own site but you would think they would get the greatest exposure here and other sites such as this versus their own site. Oh well it just sucks we have to go to several forums to see updates and new features for all the ROMs available on our device.
