So my phone is now stuck at the HTC screen after downloading and flashing the coredroid v6.5 ROM using ROM manager.
So I can boot the the clockwork menu but down volume will not move down to select recovery it just does hboot and ask if I want to flash the Radio I can not pick anything I know the down volume works cause I can use it to cancel the radio flash and I use power and down volume to get to menu.
At this point my phone is pretty much uses less I saw a post on the developer forum for coredroid v6.5 with similar issue but he said he did recovery and flashed it again I am not able to pick anything. If I let the phone boot shows HTC screen and just sits there I have to pull the battery to do anything else.
Any help would be great.
Update
I copied a PD98img to the SD card and flashed it back to stock rooted rom. But i tried to update to 6.5 again using only the dalvic wipe as directed. It reboots to clockwork then aborts flash and reboot then just hangs on HTC screen and I have to reflash it with the PD98img again. I redownloaded the coredroid v6.5 and same thing aborts install then reboots and hangs on HTC screen. I had to flash PD98img back on it then updated clockwork mod and rebooted to manually manage rom and installed coredroid v6.5 with out issue that way not sure why it did not work with clockwork booting to it but got it working now.

Please help this newbie out!... I recently rooted my Inspire 4G with attn1's hack kit. That went smooth without issue and I have tried a variety of custom ROMs thanks to this great community, but I have noticed a random issue with booting into ClockworkMod Recovery since... I installed Rom Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.0.6 and the problem is that sometimes I can boot into recovery and sometimes not. It only seems to work is the first time I reboot immediately after flashing ClockworkMod, then subsequent reboots the phone just boots normally. (I hold volumn down and press power.) I have also tried installing Amon's Recovery (supersonic 2.3) manually using Fastboot - it seems to install without error but when I try holding the down volume button and hitting power - phone just boots normally. So it seems I am stuck with a ClockworkMod install that does not really work with reliability.... I am lost now trying to figure out why this is happening.
Can someone that has seen similar issues provide some tips/suggestions?

I had the same problem... quit using version 3.0.0.6 and go back to the earliest version, 2.5.1.3 through All ClockworkMod Recoveries. Worked for me.

You don't have 'fast boot' enabled in settings/application? If so it will not really shut off completely and when you power it up with VOL- it will not work.
i'm also having issues getting cwm to work outside the black screen. i have tried sense/ no sense roms and none have been able to bring up cwm outside the blank screen. i am also running 3.0.0.6 or whatever it is but that has not helped my issue

[Q] Clockworkmod recovery not booting up
I have my phone rooted and ready to flash a custom ROM. I want to install android revolution 4g 4.0. I read that I need to ahve CWM version 3.0.0.6 to flash a 2.3 ROM. Anyways, when i select reboot into recovery in ROM Manager, my phone reboots and shows the HTC logo but then it fades to black screen and does nothing. If i press the power button, the phone reboots normally into the OS. Does anyone know how to fix this so i can install a custom ROM?
I have this exact same issue. Although i can load roms from choosing "Install from sd card" i cannot just boot into recovery and install it from there.
I just recently bought my inspire 4g a week ago.
Mine is 2 days old. Now i cant get it to boot up because it keeps trying to boot into CWM recovery but it cant. Its and endless loop.
Mine wont even load recovery. It reboots the phone but then just fades to a black screen. I cant get back into the OS

just press power button and it will reboot your phone.
still stuck doing that too. can get the phone to reboot. but stuck at htc screen or black cwm screen. also checked sd card and is corrupted. i was thinking if i could just flash a new rom over to fix boot issue. but i need some screens to blindly walk through to flash. cwm is 3.0.0.5 if that matters. thanks. on a side note. i think i have a new cm7rc2 build on a formated sd card to try and minimize the guess work on what to click

Are you saying that your phone shows the white HTC screen then fades to black?
if so, no, it doesn't matter...just press the power button to reboot your phone.
I was installing ROM P3D and I did the P3D FULL WIPE.
The wipe went fine, so I then restarted phone.
Now my phone just stays on the booting screen, HTC logo with white background, it wont finish loading!
Am I bricked?
If so, is there a way out?
You are not bricked. Its probably a bad download on the rom. Take your battery out and put it back in. Hold the volume button down and press power at the same time. Scroll down to recovery and press the power button. Did you make a backup? Go to backup and restore and restore a backup. Redownload the P3D file and try to flash again.

hold a sec, I'm confused! so you first were installing the rom then you did the wipe and restarted? Am I understanding this right? (I'm just reading the info as you've provided) If you wiped your phone, there's nothing to load so it'll just stay at that screen until you put a rom on it.

so from my understanding, it appears you've wiped and then restarted? so... you didn't install a rom I assume?
and like the above guy mentioned, you are 100% not bricked
Looks like you are not bricked. You didn't install a Rom. Just wiped. Take off your battery and put it back. Then start by holding volume down and press power. You will boot to recovery menu. Flash a Rom (should be on your SD already) and restart.
Good luck.

Yeah the correct order is wipe then flash rom
Awesome! Booting your phone without a rom on it? Nice!

Try to flash another radio. Possibly you need to flash your rom again.
BRICK IS ONLY IF YOUR PHONE DONT TURN ON.
@ Janasty try to make a FULL WIPE and then reflash the rom.
@ Da Clowns like all said before you have to flash a rom.
Flash the Wipe Script
Flash the ROM
reboot
I was excited to try out the latest release of the ARHD 3.6.8 and can't wait to flash it on mt HTC sensation to replace the ARHD 3.6.7. There comes my problem.
After flashing the new ROM, I uninstalled some apps from the root directory and the result is as follow:
1. The phone cannot be booted normally and stops after the beats audio screen.
Wifi and juice defender icons are showing.
2. Phone cannot be powered off using the power button.
3. After powering off by removing the battery, the phone cannot be booted into
recovery mode. (I have the recovery files backed up to my PC).
4. I am stucked and need HELP.
Thanking someone out there to help me to restore my phone.

Yesterday I tried to install a custom rom on my HTC Sensation. The sensation had the Dutch Vodafone ROM, updated to the newest version.
I started by following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 to the letter and did not encounter any problems.
Then I read a post about the InsertCoin ROM, and started with the recommended download and install of PG58IMG.zip. I did not install the ROM yet. Upon rebooting after installation of PG58IMG.zip the phone now seems to be in a boot loop, it boots untill the "Quitely Brilliant" appears and then reboots again. I removed PG58IMG.zip and reinstalled su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip (as per suggestion in another thread about a boot looped phone). However the phone refuses to install it.
Is there anything I can do the get my phone out of this bootloop?

Ugh.. really? Any idea what went wrong? I imagine I might have done somthing stupid, but I have no idea what.
You can probably fix it. First thing I would try doing is booting to recovery and restoring from the backup(s) you made.
hello i myself am not really familar with that device its one i never played with or researched but i do know that bootloop does not mean your device is bricked if your device is bricked it would simply be a black screen that did nothing something in your bootloader or spl (secondary program loader).
please boot into clockwork mod pull battery hold vol down when it boots do a complete wipe
wipe data / userdata
wipe cache
wipe davlik
then try to reboot see if you can boot then and if not pull out sd card download a rom from your pc to your sd card for your device try a diffrent rom install sd card into your phone boot back into clockwork mod select zip from sd and install most likely it will repair your boot loop.
(YOUR PHONE IS NOT BRICKED)
any ? go to sensation questions and answers and or development they can further benifit you because they deal with that device full time

I had the same problem. Solved it by installing the a compatible (to the new firmware) rom, like InsertCoin 4.3.2. So, tne procedure is:
1. Install firmware by putting PG58IMG.zip on root of sd card
2. remove PG58IMG.zip from root of sd card
3. install InsertCoin 4.3.2 from sd card
Hi buddy. No, you're not bricked. You just flashed a non-compatible ROM, you're all safe. It happened to me once.
A bricked device means a device that is unable to even power up. If it can boot to recovery, or fastboot, you're not bricked. And if you have a bootloop, you're not bricked either.
Do the following:
Battery pull
Put the battery back again
Press and hold the volume down button
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds, while keeping the volume down button
When you get into fastboot, let go volume button
Select recovery using the volume keys and confirming with the power button
There you are! You can flash back your backup... Because you have a backup, right?
@ all; Thanks all for the help! Wiping and restoring backups didn't do the trick, but the suggestions were very welcome since they convinced me I didn't brick my phone
Special thanks to Norad73 and Pyrobisqit; I did have a backup, but not of the firmware it seems, since restoring the backup didn't work <red face>.
Bu the suggestion of the ROM not being compatible with the new firmware was right on the mark. I installed the InsertCoin ROM, and yes it worked! I now have a very nice ICS Sensation
Thanks, thanks, thanks!
I found myself needing a backup phone so I dusted off my old HTC Inspire that has been put up for years. To make it more useful I wanted to put CM7 on it. I got the bootloader unlocked and clockwork recovery installed and flashed CM7 and GAPPS. My issue is that any time I power the phone it locks up on a white screen with the HTC logo and requires me to manually flash boot.img again to get my phone booted in CM7. Anybody have any ideas? Why would I have to flash boot.img every time I power or reboot my phone? Please help.
