[Q] Video Chat/Calling Qik Front Camera Fix

So you know our phones comes with Qik Video Chat. Has anyone used this app? I don't have any friends that have it so I don't know if the picture is in the correct orientation.
Has anyone used other apps like Tango? I tried using Tango with my brother and the orientation is wrong at his end.
So my main question is for those that are using Qik Video Chat. Is the orientation correct on the receiving party's end or is it wrong like with Tango that I'm experiencing with other people?

Yes my wife and I used Qik and it look good, just a little laggy.

I have not been able to use mine yet. i dont have any friends who have a front faceing camera yet. So right now its a waste of space for me. My girlfriend has a fasinate and she thought, and was told it had a front cam on it but we found out it did not....

I've used Qik - its clear and it does lag. The only thing Im not too happy about is when using any other app such as Tango or Fring u can not utilize the face front camera. Use have to use the camera on the back which sucks. If I had to do that I would've kept my Vibrant. I was told that there may be an update coming out to correct that, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Tango is ok but if I had to choose I would use qik or fring.

The orientation is fine. You should try yahoo too. gingerbread can't use it but it works fine on 2.2

What sucks is that you still have to use the rear camera. It won't let you use the face front. I don't want to have to turn my phone around so the other person can see me.....I hope they come out with a update for it. If not Im going to have to get rid of this....I already rooted it and unlocked it....

The only thing that works rear and front is tango, fring, and qik.

I dunno why yours isn't working. Mine works just fine using the front camera.

Update your tango app -- then click the icon at the top right hand corner of your screen and it will rotate from Front to Back

i cant use the camera with skype. i can only in the qik video chat

QIK Force close
anybody experiencing a Force Close on QIK software? I have removed some bloats and integrated the QIK update to the ROM via Titanium back up.

Tango seems to work fine with me.. at first the front can showed up sideways but after the update it works perfectly

Could you maybe post that apk here? Just back it up with Titanium Backup then upload the apk.

ooVoo, is the best as far as I am concerned. I video chat for hours, and have used Tango, ooVoo, and qik. ooVoo has the best audio quality, video is good also. Tango, has good video quality audio is not so good. And qik. ok. oovoo is the best, you can chat phone to phone and phone to pc.

Qik won't let me switch to the front camera. It says switched to front, but it's not.

Tango is good if you are doing phone to phone or phone to Ipod touch....Oovoo is the best in my opinion because you can do phone to phone, phone to Ipod touch and phone to pc

For those of you having issues with front camera not working after the update. I uploaded the unreleased update from qik in the OP

Fring doesn't work with front-facing camera.

Does anyone know of a fix for this issue. Fring only uses the rear camera on the GS4G. I don't know if any of the previous fixes for galaxy s phones will fix this problem or not. Insight?

I get the same issue when trying to use yahoo messenger and oovoo so far the only way to use the ffc to video chat is with qik which sucks but hopefully a developer will make a rom with this fix out hopefully samsung their self will fix the issue

Tango works with FFC but the receiving end shows the video vertical instead of horizontal or vice versa.

I got the same result.

I used oovoo and qik. They both used the ffc. I haven't tried fring or yahoo chat. But I will tonite after work

Anyone else having issues with front camera on tango?

From the looks of it its a software based problem. Looks like were gonna have to wait till they update it to support whichever camera is in the front (hardware wise)

I never could get my ffc to work on tango. I think its a conspiracy to get tmo customers to use qik.

It's a new phone, wait for an update. This is common with new Android phones.

Ffc didn't work on tango for my g2x only showed back camera. But when I use qik it kept force closing everytime I would answer a call. Qik works on my Mytouch 4g fine but on tango the ffc view would transmit it upside down to my g2x when I did a video chat Test.

Video Chat Google or Skype

Neither are officially supported yet, does anyone have a hack apk?
Would be nice to see the old man when i am overseas.

I tried the Skype version linked above and on wifi, it worked great. Haven't tried it yet on 3G.

Skype work great for chat/calls, but video chat uses only the back camera for now till GB is out
If your going from mobile to mobile use Tango, it works flawlessly, and works with both cameras
Also qik video didn't fail me either

G talk works but the front facing camera sends your video feed horizontal when our should be verticle.
Qik seems to work the best for me although the speaker volume is low. I use my ear buds and the volume is usable.

S2 LTE & Skype

Does Skype video work on the S2 LTE? I didn't find anything on here, but from what I've searched on Google, it doesn't seem to work for a number of people. What's the verdict here? Anyone on here that uses it themselves? Help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Skype works fine for me. The wifey sometimes will hop on my transformer while I'm at work and we'll have ourselves a video chat.

Yes I routinely Skype to my family in the UK and they use the iPhone4. We have no issues at all, it works great!

My camera will not make the switch when I go to landscape. When I do I look like I am walking on the wall

How did you guys get the video to work. I tried Skype to a computer and no video just audio. Didnt even find how to turn on the camera.

Make sure you have video enabled in skype settings. The skyrocket isn't officially supported so you have to check the option to turn it on.

My brother and I both got skyrockets on the same day. Skype was one of the things we tested first. From skyrocket to skyrocket it works great.

I've tested between S2 LTE and iPhone 4 and it works fine. Quality isn't top notch, but it does warn you before hand that Skype isn't certified to work on the device, whatever that might mean.
