A1 Branding HTC Desire S - HTC Desire S

Hello
I bought the HTC Desire S in the A1 Shop a week ago. When I bought it the guy from A1 told me that they have only the first and charge and therefore the devices aren't branded. On the device, there are only some A1 apps which aren't deletable by the normal uninstall function. Nevertheless there is no Providerlogo at the Startup. So do I have now a branded or unbranded Device? Which Softwarenumber or anything else does the unbranded Devices have?
Sim-Lock is also not included. My last Devices from A1 always had a SImlock and a Bootlogo.
Are there any ways or tutorials for Debranding the device right now?

Best way is, cause i guess you live in austria like me , go to a handy dealer (lol what word) near you who has an xtc-clip. S-Off it and flash a custom rom like i did .
If you have questions, dont hasitate to pm me.

Thx. To which dealer did you get? would the dealer be able to flash the original rom? would i loose the garanty?
If the A1 guy promised me a brandingfree device wouldnt it be deception if I get one with Branding?
greets

yes you will loose garanty cause u can't restore the xtc clip s-off, if u only want branding free use the tutorial i linked u in my 1st post

Stupid question?
YOU know everything?
Why he should downgrade or use another ROM?
If the "only" thing is to get rid of some apps from /system, you need root.
For permanent root you need s-off:
Austrian shop:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043316
After S-OFF, use gingerbreak & titanium (busybox) and you can uninstall the apks you do not like.

Thx for all of your replies.
To declare a bit what i would like to have.
I don't only want to debrand because of the stupid A1 apps, but much more to get the updates dirctly over HTC. I don't like to wait till A1 releases the Firmeware. For the old Desire A1 released a France Firmware with french Apps!!!!!!!!
This are the things I want to prevent.

well u read what he wrote? "Are there any ways or tutorials for Debranding the device right now?"
he want's to debrand, htc got lowest version, so he got to... ouuuuuuuuuuh... downgrade!
u wanna get him s-off + loosing guaranty for ever cause u can't restore xtc clip s-off for removing some branding apps? yea, WONDERFUL idea

English: Yes I want it in a state in which i would get it at Media Markt or Amazon and not liek in the A1 Store. I only want to get always the latest official Firmewares.
Is there a big danger to break the phone?
greets

not really, the temp root + misc_version can't harm your phone duo to s-on and i didnt heard that a ruu goes wrong, except the user is so stupid and pulls the usb cable

And he has do know, that he has to downgrade for this? - YOU called that a "stupid question". He wanted to know HOW. So you gave him corret answer but (unless YOU do a permroot for S-ON ) you should not welcome a newbie this way.
And I gave him another possibility because it was not really clear what he want's. So, what's your problem?
And no guaranty cause off s-off? Only if the error is caused (iirc "ursächlicher Zusammenhang") by the sw-change. Can't image a1 wants publicity at a court - and publicity in the android-communities in such a matter.

nothing do to do with court
s-off = no guarantee cause u changed something with external hardware and modified android system (rooting), so you loose guarantee cause its forbidden, a1 wouldn't get any publicty cause they know they are right

It is defintive legal to simunlock the phone (as a side-product it was also S-OFF)
And to root android is forbidden by which law?
So, if they would refuse me guarantee (eg hw-antenna broke != do to with root), we would meet at court.

So now I have only one question left. A user from another forum (he is from Austria) wrote that when he bought his phone that he also had the A1 apps but after he performed a global reset the A1 apps were gone an it seems its debrandet. is it possible that A1 only changed the Software ID for future updates and installed the A1 apps but didn't do it permanently? It also wondered me that they would have made a brandingfirmeware in such a short time. I'm going to figure his softwarenumber out

well maybe, but the xtc clip is not exchanging the bootloader of htc with a enginering bootloader, which is both htc property
the xtc clip is killing the s-off so its modifying htc's protected bootloader, which would result in smth illegal, if i am right

@Blezz @dont know
Do I use garanty by downgrading ?

well you are modifying a1's system, so i guess yes
but you can easily restore it with flashing a1 ruu again
the problem at s-off is simply that u can't restore it again

ok the thing is only that A1 should never notice that because I thnk they will send the device to HTZC and wont repair things on their own.

well even if you would need garanty it is easy to flash it back to a1 system if you got the RUU so that shouldnt make a problem now

Ok and how would i get the orignal Ruu from A1?
Can i make a backup of it or is it somewhere on the net.
What kind of steps have to be done in the tutorial of sonikz where he says you can now downgrade with the exe?
I redad with the Desire HD was a Problem if you downgraded to the HTC Firmeware because the OTA Updates didn't work aftwerwards. Whats here with the Desire S? Would I have to change somethng which would cost me my guarantee ?
Whats if my Software id is like this: 1.32.163.1 20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.15_M
but the official rom is like this: RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.080 5U_38.03.02.11_M_release.
Is there a Problem if the HTC Version has a lower Number than the A1 Version?

Did you super cid? I believe doing so would keep carrier updates from being sent to your device.
ok, thanks pal
maybe you know, where can i find newest official htc rom?
i'll try supercid and htc rom after that

Sorry... I think you misunderstood me. I was asking if you were already super cid'ed. Because if you were, that would explain why you were not receiving system updates from your carrier.
Setting your CID to super CID will not help you in this matter.
Ok, now undersdand.
I'm not sure did i replace cid or not.
How to check my current cid?
And finally how to rollback original cid. I'm in o2 uk

Here is how I know to check the CID on your device (and a lot of other details):
Code:
adb shell cat /proc/cmdline
That should result in a lot of text on your terminal. You want to find the value that follows: "androidboot.cid="
If you are super CID, it will be a bunch of ones (like 1111111) and nothing else.
I'll get back to you on the thread for a list of valid CIDs.
Thanks a lot.

Here is the thread that provides the most help for what you're trying to accomplish (at least from what I assume).
In it there is a mention of another thread where CIDs are being collected.
hth...
i can confirm that i had cid 1111111 in my phone.
i changed it first time for valid o2 cid but still not got any updates, then replaced for htc cid but still any updates got.
btw i'm sure, htc has released 2.3.4 for my device, and i'm stuck by 2.3.3
ok, last question
where can i find not branded, latest original htc rom?

I think this is the best there is for finding stock ROMs.
There is a FileFactory link in the 1st post (or right here) for a grip of RUU files. Those will contain the original distributions from the various carriers.
I wish I was able to point you to the correct one, but I really have no idea.

Orange HTC one S nandroid

Hello,
Sorry, I'm new and I do not know if i am posting on the right place !
When I bought my HTC one S on sosh (orange), I had some problems with the radio (loose signal, cannot get / send SMS or call, ...). I seen that many peoples have the same issues too (radio version : 0.15.31501S.19+2.10.13.31501S.06L)
Because I would find a solution to my problems, I unlocked my phone and installed a custom ROM which have not resolved the issues.
Apparently, I have an old radio and there is not any solution to update it with a custom rom. I would like to restore the orange rom, relock the phone and delete CWM to be able to get the orange OTA update.
Unfortunately, I didn't do a Nandroid backup before to install the custom rom and I hope that anyone have a nandroid backup of the french orange install.
If anyone have that, could he please put it on the web for every persons whose in my situation ?
Many thanks to everyone and have a nice day !
Kyryan
(Sorry I'm french and very bad in english ! I hope you will understand my post )
I would also find this highly useful. It's really annoying that orange are delaying pushing out this update as my phone currently feels crippled, I've changed my ROM to LeeDroid but the battery life is still horrendous.

But there's no orange nandroid and as far as I can tell (correct me if I'm wrong), orange haven't pushed out the update yet so it wouldn't help him.
Do I understand correctly that he needs an Orange Branded 1.53 Stock, to get the update from Orange, or he needs to change the CID to flash an unbranded 1.53 Stock to get there the update?
In this case sorry for the wrong information!
Hello,
Thank you so much for replies.
2-propanol, any solution is fine when it allows me to update the baseband. I believe that change the CID of the htc one s is not possible yet.
I thought that the only way to update my baseband is to find an orange nandroid backup and wait for orange to receive the OTA update ?
I will check your link to see if that could help me, thanks
Edit : I checked the link that you sent me. Do you think that solution will work in my situation ? I think that if I have an orange CID, I will not receive any ota updates with his nandroid backup which is a constructor nandroid ?
Edit2 : I tested this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26523092&postcount=113 and it worked fine without delete any datas of the phone, thank you very much !
Where within the ROM did you find the following files?
radio.img, wcnss.img, and adsp.img
I couldn't see them last time I tried to find them.
Also Kyryan have you noticed MASSIVE improvements since doing so? At the moment i'm getting 18 hours of usage with the screen on for just 1 hour...
Hi!
Changing CID seems to be possible, but also a little bit tricky!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671643
to find the .img files try to extract the RUU with 7zip and then just search it

If you guys need any help I can upload Orange France RUU_Ville_U_Orange_FR-B2B_1.53.73.3_Radio_0.15.31501S.19_2_10.13.31501S.06L_release_251467_signed.exe to my dropbox account for you to use to restore to original;
Englishman living in Courchevel for 23 years parle français couramment. Send me a PM if you want a link to dropbox or any other help. I have One S Orange, changed CID to HTC__001, installed European ROM and it works perfectly, so much better than the Orange sh*t!! (but have Orange rom to restore just in case I have problems - just as you need). Si vous preferez parler en Français pour une assistance envoyez moi un PM - Anglais seulement dans le forum
---------- Post added at 09:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:55 PM ----------
Alternatively, along with the other posters here, I can help you to get CID change to enable you to use the RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.78.401.2_Radio_0.16.31501S.17_2_10.23.31501S.10L_release_258480_signed.exe which has a newer radio - this stock firmware is the only way to upgrade the radio at the moment as we do not have s-off
This is the firmware I am running on Orange FR and it works perfectly, radio is great, has French language option and battery life is the best I have ever had on an android device (and I have got/had plenty )
Thanks stinky73...
I followed the instructions listed in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26523092&postcount=113
and flashed the radio myself. Thanks a lot for your generous offer though and I'm sure I'll end up attempting to flash the CID at some point, at which I may ask you for assistance!
To answers to your questions, no, the radio update had not fix my 3g issue :s:s.
I think I will restore the orange stock image to send the phone in waranty ...
I am really disappointed by this phone ...
Thank you very much for your help everyone.

[Q] other country rom on e8

Hello guys!
I am new to android world.I just bought this E8 from China and its the China Unicom version of E8 known as M8SW.There are many chinese apps on the phone and also it doesnt let me take cloud backup of the device as it asks for some chinese weibo account to sign in or create new account. The same phone has been launched in India and some other countries with the model code M8SD.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge,I am just curious can i flash indian or any other country rom like singapore on it which supports english as main default language.I dont wanna install custom rom on my phone and somehow wanna stay with stock rom but from some other country.
Also if i flash some other country rom on it would it be a problem with frquencies my current rom supports and frequencies what indian rom supports.i mean i dont want any hardware issue after i flash indian rom on to my e8.
After i flash indian rom would the ota updates happen or no.
Finally where I can get Indian stock rom for e8.
Thanks in advance.
Harman
Hello, i own also a HTC ONE E8 DUAL SIM (M8SW) with the China ROM on it. This ROM has not the Possibility to UPDATE the Android, is missing this Point in the options Menu. Could you tell me someone where ich can Download another Country ROM who works this OTA function?? Maybe INDIAN oder better another EUROPEAN version. SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP HERE?
THANKS
I would say you have to unlock bootloader (1), go s-off (2), change CID (3), flash international stock ROM and possibly lock the bootloader to get OTA updates. How it's done is explained in several threads here.
One of my own posts containing information on 1, 2 & 3:
I finaly managed to get dutch feeds in Blinkfeed.
What I did:
1. unlock the phone (see www.htcdev.com)
2. flash TWRP and rooted (http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-...luded-t2819571)
3. gain s-off (http://theroot.ninja/)
4. write Super CID (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2317536)
5. modify build.prop (you can find build.prop in "/system"). Set ro.product.locale.language=nl & ro.product.locale.region=NL (I found these records twice in build.prop and I changed both)
6. go to play store, remove Blinkfeed and then reinstall Blinkfeed.
I now have local news and/or feeds in dutch on my HTC One E8 (m8sw), you can probably get them in any language you like.

Hello.. any success? I am also in same situation.. have M8SW, and need other country ROM.
So I can get local blinkfeed, and language support. Though I have changed language to English, some pop-ups still come in Chinese.. guess system related messages.. and default market is not google play, but gives option of either HTC market place /game center.. when I get reminders about app updates. So when I open Google play and then update apps from menu, it works fine.
it seems that it worked on my htc one e8 m8sw with lollypop

There's no way to get locked bootloader root as of now on Lollipop. We don't know if it is possible on marshmallow (obviously since we don't have it yet) but we might assume Sony increases security with marshmallow so it is likely not possible. Though marshmallow might introduce new bugs and therefore new opportunities. But I don't think so.
I'll get this thread moved for u as it belongs in Q&A.

RUU File for 1.27.166.7 -> VODAP110 Where to find?

Hi guys,
I have been desperately trying to find this RUU file, yet without any success. Now I am getting out of options.
Do any of you guys know where I can find RUU files in general for my phone? It doesn't have to be Oreo, just want to update to Oreo.
Software Version - 1.27.166.7
CID: VODAP110 -> VODA-Swisscom-DE.
Currently Nougat 7.1.1 -> want to update to Oreo
I don't want to unlock S-Off to change the CID, unless I absolutely have to.
I have the HTC rooted and installed TWRP on it and can't ota, obviously.
Unfortunately there is not compatible version on the spreadsheet list.
I couldn't find any thread with this subject, so I hope I am correct here.
Thanks in advance guys.

Hey buddy
You will not find anything here, trust me, i spent the last two weeks trying to fix the same situation as you.
Best thing you can do is written in this thread
Go down that route, save yourself a lot of headache and debrand your device in the same step, it's better anyway.
Hope this helps, good luck :good:
All right, thanks. For more informations follow the link in Nightmares reply.
You could get it at easy-firmware.com but Swisscom RUUs mostly require a paid account...
I'll look if my account is still premium and download it if it still is.
btw debrande isch viellicht nid s beste, denn kasch kei VoLTE und WiFi-Calling me nutze ^^
