[Q] how to add windows 7 and android and leaving the original windows 6.5 on htc hd2 - General Questions and Answers

hi, i want to know how to add windows 7 and also android but leaving the windows 6.5 on the phone and also is there a way to add the option where you can select from which OS to boot from when the phone turns on just like the simple selection menu when starting on a computer. Is the zune and marketplace and also the connectivity to the zune software where it did not detect the windows 7 phone been solved on windows. Also it would be nice to have everything installed on the nand instead of on the SDCARD.

[Q] Microsoft Word Docs on WinMo phone rooted to Android?

I've written some Microsoft word documents on my HD2 When it was still running on Windows Mobile 6.5, but I've since rooted the phone and started running Android on it. Is there a way to access these files on a computer or on another windows phone without reverting back to Windows on my HD2?

[Q] New WP7 User - running Ubuntu :(

Hi everyone! I recently switched from a Pre 2 to an HTC Trophy. I love WP7 but I have a few problems. Before I tell you about them I will tell you I have installed the Mango beta onto my device. (BTW I'm on Verizon) Now onto my issues.
* I am running Ubuntu. I have Zune installed in a Windows XP emulator. For some reason the entire computer (Ubuntu and Windows XP) don't recognize the phone when connected via USB. The device just charges.
* I am a big music buff and I NEED MUSIC ON MY DEVICE. As I have said, I run Ubuntu, how am I supposed to do this?
* I would love to use all those fun programs to edit the registry on the device to change the color schemes (because I hate the colors that come pre installed) but I run Ubuntu. I'm sure I could do it via emulator but how come my phone is not recognized?
* Please tell me why my phone isn't recognized.
Thankyou for all help in advance and I am really really really happy to be a part of this community. I used to be a member on XDA back in my Android days and I'm psyched to be back. Please help me with my problems

You could try to setup Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 in a virtual machine on your system. That should work.

Thanks for the reply, however, I already stated I'm running Windows XP in VirtualBox. When I run lsusb in Linux terminal one of the USB devices is Microsoft and when I unplug the device and run the command again it disappears. So it seems Ubuntu knows its there but since it has no mass storage capabilities it does not display it on the desktop. This still doesn't explain why Windows XP cannot see it because I have USB connections settings checked in VirtualBox.
I think it is a Windows XP problème... Windows 7 does a better job in recognizing devices.
XP is Just to old

You stated that you use an emulator. I really recommend using VM Ware. I never had any issues with USB devices or anything else on it. Since I never used VirtualBox I can't explicitly help you with it though, sorry.

Use Windows 7 or Vista ...XP its not working for me....
Ok so now Windows XP sees the device as "Windows Phone 7" but Zune still won't detect it no matter what I do. Any ideas?

XP is going to continue to be a bad choice... What version of ZUNE are you running?
Sent from my SGH-i917 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
if you using Zune 4.7 try updating to Zune 4.8 and check if your mobile is getting detected.

Ive thought about this.... I don't see why not, they are very fast small computers... We should be able to put anything we want on them and then just get drivers like a normal computer

[Q] Windows 8 Pro & HTC Touch Cruise Driver Issues

Hi All,
First off I did try posting this in the windows 8 forum but got a message about insufficient privileges so hopefully this is the next best place. If not, apologies.
I'm running Windows 8 Pro x64 on my desktop computer with an HTC Touch Cruise running Windows Mobile 6.1 This worked fine with windows 7 x64 and will still sync happily on my windows 7 laptop sharing all contacts etc. However I cannot for the life of me get the phone to talk to my new windows 8 machine.
It seems I'm missing a driver by the name of "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" (as per device manager of my win7 laptop) but despite 3 hours of searching on google i cant find a download for this driver.
I have tried using Smart Driver Backup to copy the files from my Win 7 machine and tried doing so manually as well but in both cases I get an error on the windows 8 machine saying the driver cant be installed due to missing files.
This is slowly driving me nuts. WM6 isnt *that* old. I cant believe that Microsoft wouldn't include some sort of backward compatibility. All I need to do is sync my contacts to outlook!!!!
Anyone else experienced this problem and managed to solve it?
You will not find a driver for it for windows 8. This is due to MS killing the WM OS all together. Main reason business won't update to windows 8. Most will remain on 7 for many years to come

HTC Touch Pro port to Android or find a way to make it compatible with Windows 8

Hi All
Phone Model: HTC Touch Pro T7272
A friend of mine recently updated from Windows Vista to Windows 8.
And hey presto no more Active Sync, windows 8 will not even reconigse the phone.
I have been looking around and seen no solution to getting Active Sync to work with Windows 8.
So now the other option is change the phone. However that requires resources which are very limited.
Would changing to Android on the HTC Touch Pro T7272 be any good? Are all the features working? Is it possible to roll back to previous windows os, if it not suitable? or does anyone know a way to get Active Sync to work with Windows 8?
Any kind of advice or help will be much appropriated.
I believe Android syncs with a Google account. This port does not require a flash so once you restart your device, its back to WinMo, you go. Additionally, you should be able to backup your contacts with another program that should be included, called PIM Backup. OR are you just looking for a way to sync your device to your computer? If not, what exactly? Also, I do hope you have changed the USB mode from Disk Drive to ActiveSync. On a final note, there should be a check box for "faster data synchronization", you should un-check it if ActiveSync does not recognize your device.

You could install via windows 8 or 7 "Virtual PC" then -> windows xp sp3 then -> activesync+ other old apps quite complicated to setup at first
