[MOD]viperMOD for AOSP Kernels - v3 beta RC2.4 |Updated 6.14.11| - Desire Android Development

Hey everyone, welcome to viperMOD for the EVO, Incredible, Nexus One, Desire GSM, Thunderbolt, Nexus S, Nexus S 4G, Desire HD, and Inspire 4G. Many people are having great success with this mod and I hope you enjoy my work
I would like to turn this into an app! If someone would like to help out that has Java knowledge, please contact me!
What does this do?
Kernel developers make their kernels to be "universal". By universal, they want the kernel to work on as many phones as possible so they may only mildly undervolt. However, some phones can handle a more aggressive undervolt. Some can't. viperMOD allows you to undervolt to your choosing for better battery life or allow you to overvolt to make your phone more stable.
How do I run this?
Once you flash the .zip go into your Terminal app (I use Android Terminal Emulator set to 10pt font) and type:
su
vipermod
I really only use Terminal for my mod and there is something really cool you can do with Android Terminal Emulator (and maybe others). Menu > Preferences > Initial Command > Press Enter and type su > Press Enter again and type vipermod
Every time you start Terminal now, it will open right into viperMOD. You can quickly exit by pressing Enter if you need to use Terminal for something else

Sorry that's the one thing I forgot to fix on the done yesterday. go to the downloads page and flash what you'd like and it will work if you have a compatible kernel. what are you running?
EDIT: Fixed it Sorry about that.

Hi,
yeah just downloaded it from the download page (Tiamat_Bravo-v3.3.8) and I've just switched over to djroobs Hiapk rom (CM7 - 7.0.2.1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016345
will report back in 24 hours

You guys don't have any interest in this? The EVO guys are eating this up!

That could make sense. Does anyone know if any of the Desire Sense kernels have the sysfs VDD interface built in?

i am trying now
Feedback later, thank you very much

I'll try it with MIUI AOSP ROM.will report it back here. Thanks

Will give this a go on ManU 1.4 Havs, I'll report back.

Just installed Tiamat_Bravo-v3.3.8 and v2.1_BSM_800mv_Floor_Lower.
No problems.
Will report again in 1 or 2 days .
PS: GingerVillain 2.3 (radio: 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08)

how about non-sense roms? can we use it? like redux

Will this work with a CM7 original kernel??

Is is coming the same for Gingersense Kernels??? I think that most of AOSP ROMs have more than a likeable battery lasting time, but talking about GingerSense ROMs... Uff, really hungry beast they are!!!
Thank you very much for the effort, btw!!
I'll try at Redux as soon as I come back (I'm on Reflex S atm)!!

Can you please try to do create your mod for baadnewz gingersense Rom which is really popular and IMHO one of the best

SalvageMod is a AOSP project developed by myself, Barnacles10, and echoside.
This software is built from the Android open source project 2.3.5 branch.
We are offering 1.4 both odex and deodex. Keep in mind, most themers theme deodex ROMs.
Make sure to choose what the google add-on that corresponds with your ROM choice.

Its aosp. They all work.
Downloading now.
I achieved a Quadrant score of 1460 with the last build. I'll report back after flash and restore.
Great job man. I'm just curious. Did you odex post-build or did you compile Rom with an odex option? Ive been playing with Rom building for some time now and have only messed with sense. I managed to build a stock aosp Rom the other day but would like to learn more about aosp building. Feel free to pm because I feel this post is off-topic. Thanks man.
Now that I have root again I might have to give this a go (would be first aosp Rom).

will there be any updates to the kernal? I'm not sure if HTC releasing source code changes anything...
Also does this rom still have the problem with the sensors that plagued the cm and deck roms?
Hmmm... No Go. After several attempts installing the fedex version; I restored V1.3. I was never able to boot past the htc EVO 4G screen.

Well, what did you do? Because I highly doubt there is an issue giving the fact I have been compiling and flashing 10+ times since last night. Mind walking me through with that you did?

Being an AOSP ROM, these do not rely on the HTC kernel code release. There are any of several fine kernels to choose from, so its virtually always possible to find one that your phone likes.
Regarding the 'problem with the sensors', can you elaborate on that? I've used a couple versions of the Evo-deck ROM and have yet to experience any issue.
I look forward to trying this ROM! For some reason, I couldn't get the 1.3 to run on my phone, but that could have been a bad download or similar issue. I was just too busy at that time. But I read so much good about the SalvageMod...I gotta give it a go!
Thank you for your time.
P.S: Thank you for offering the community both odex and deodex versions! I love themes, but the odex ROMs run way quicker on my phone.
Looks good I'll give it a try later.
Thanks lit.

I noticed there was a 1.4 deodexed Gapps package, but I didn't see one for 1.4 odexed.
I am assuming to use the odexed gapps that were already posted, but wanted to double check.

Ah, I did run into this problem occasionally. I also found that when I would press the power button to wake the phone up when asleep I had to hold the power button down for a few seconds or it wouldn't wake up. I was using the SZ 2.2.1 kernel at the time, and later found that I experienced these things when using the smartass or SavageZen governors. I switched to InteractiveX and didn't experience them any more.
Thank you for your time.
Dang, lithid, I was just about to flash & test your kernel with the Synergy RLS-1 rom and then I saw this: Salvage-Mod 1.4....I was like, "WHAT!" ...Oh well, your new kernel can wait...hahaha.......flashing the latest Salvage-Mod cannot wait. Thank you.

Note: Do NOT send me (tvall) messages asking questions about the rom, installation of the rom, reporting bugs, or asking about updates (unless told by a member of the team to do so). I will NOT reply quickly or in a helpful way. Post on this thread. People will take you seriously and give you decent answers (usually).
Note: rules on using this rom for other projects
If you use prebuilt anything from releases of this rom, please be nice and send me a pm asking for permission. this is supposed to be an open community, but i hate seeing 20+ cm7 roms with nothing different except name and bundled apps. If you don't ask, and you havent made something different enough from this rom to be worth having its own thread, it may or may not get reported.
DREAMTeam! I am glad to see our rom finally on xda! We worked hard on this! I hope you all enjoy our rom!

So, why should one install your ROM over the others??? What major changes have you built or put forth other than slight UI changes, that the others haven't? Not trying to be an ass, just your log seems vague in terms of differences in your ROM and others.
I concur, not sure what special features compared to the other established roms this might have.. ?

looks promising. I'll try to give it a whirl later on

Coming from other ROMS like revolution 2.1.1 (based on 8.6.6.18) or primer 2.1 is a full wipe necessary?
no matter what, we need more roms for the transformer.
Thanks OP for it.... will flash after download.

Just flashed about a hour ago and no issues so far. Very smooth and fast.
Good job on this ROM. Looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.

Coming from other ROMS like revolution 2.1.1 (based on 8.6.6.18) or primer 2.1 is a full wipe necessary?

YES!! Whenever switching Roms you should always do a full wipe. It will help you avoid bootloops and other bugs. Updates to the same Rom you can probably just wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Great to see another dev in the TF forums. It's always nice to have options. To the people asking what is different/better about this Rom compared to the others, why not just nandroid your setup, flash this and find out. It really isn't difficult to make a nandroid, try something new, and then restore if you don't want to keep it. Thanks for the Rom and I will be giving it a try soon.
I, for one, welcome our new Tranformer ROM overlords.

[ROM]Cookies and Cream ICS | b16 kernel | super fast | video playback

Hello all, I'd like to start by saying that this would not have been possible without the help of Lord, for his kernels, zFreak for the inspire fixes on ICS, and trh, for testing the ROM for me and dont forget dhharold for porting ICS IN THE FIRST PLACE!
And Synergy, for help with init.d B) Alienmind for ICEtools^^
Okay, now to the actual Rom, It's basically an ICS Beta build, that you all know and love, It features everything working (torch video etc)
EXCEPT THE FOLLOWING:
3D HW Acceleration
Camera
If you report something to me like, "Ohhh the gallery doesnt work" I will ignore it, becuase the Gallery REQUIRES 3D HW ACCELERATION.(same goes for google music)
Link; http://www.multiupload.com/YC88I38FF9
I had reports from Trh that the build was actually smoother, and snappier than z's or Lords builds. If this is true for you drop a thanks or something Have fun! Hope you enjoy!
Below this is the post for updates.

2. type adb push build.prop /system

KERNEL update post
This is where i will post updates on progress for my kernel
Cheers, will give it s bash later.

Any reason for starting a new build? i mean there are two other people already who've release beta builds with minor fixes...why not wait for the real thing and then come up with fully working customized versions?

because the DHD community is so demanding. Im mainly trying to take the weight off the main devs here. and im fairly sure people want a faster working build. so thats what im providing. I do understand where you're coming from though
Good luck with this. The devs over on zfreaks build get hammered to hell with repeated bug reports and request's. Hope you have a better time of it!

props dude will try it out.
So yours is based on what beta?
Great work and a big thx
But why did u dont work with the other devs?
I think its better to have one build project with allot of smart brains
Think about it and maybe you can join Freakz project

Any particular reason why this build is double the size of Lords, and almost double the size of zFr3aks?

What are the changes from zfreaks? Guessing apk compression changes? What is the base?
Maybe we could share some info. I have working init.d support (very helpful for performance scripts). If some of your tweaks use init.rc, then we can perhaps combine our knowledge.

It is a lot more snappier and actually data seems to be very stable unlike their builds so it is definitely something you want to try out
And I dropped a thanks for you by the way

I think its a good idea, you fine tuning this rom but you need to give us a little more information about the base or build (whatever you guys call it) you are using
Thanks
I'm missing the calendar sync, anybody else?I have only browser, gmail and contacts.
Should i flash the fixed calendar gapps? Why?
also, root doesnt work. laggy. i cant seem to come upon a reason why you would start a separate thread for this.
lordclockan did a much better with his betas and he posted them inside of the ICS thread.

This is an early build and i see room for improvement in several areas, doesn't mean i am not using it to power my "work phone".
Great alternative to the feature-laden kernels from show-p and Faux, no offense intended, just more streamlined. Not as many bells and whistles like extra governors but its consistent, stable, and benches off the charts - See Here.
Don't want to spam this new topic, but:
Is Sense 3.5 (ARHD 2.3.5) also supported?
168 MHz is really interesting =)

Fixed topic, it was misleading. Ported CM usually isn't all that version critical as natives like Nexii.

That bench was done on Bulletproof v1.4 @ 1.89Ghz. Running Sense 3.0 with full homescreens, ~150 apps loaded. No task killers or cheating
Hello,
I have 2 questions:
1. What it`ll happen if you try to install the kernel on sense 3.5(energy)?
2. If i am already on a custom kernel (bricked), do i need to install rom all over again? Or it will work if I flash return to stock ?
Would like to know about #2. Have to return to stock kernel first then apply this kernel?
