dont have that on my menu in setting-call settings

I don't have these settings either. I notice I have terrible light sensor performance. The screen constantly goes black on me when i lift it from my ear. I hope this gets fixed in the next update....

I'm using CM7 if that helps.

Same thing happened to me on the leaked gb. It annoyed me to have to press the power button to get the screen back on. Since this is the most basic function of the phone, I went back to stock.

Auto display on/off on th call?

Hi all:
My fuze can turn off display when I am on the call, which is good. However, I want to turn on the screen after the phone leaves away from ear automatically. Can this been achieved? Sometimes I have to check something on the phone or touch number keys during conversation.

Blank Screen after finished calling with speaker mode on

Not sure if any of you had this but I notice my phone when placed on speaker mode, after calling my screen goes blank and none of the key function work (all buttons including home, power, etc) and I had to do a battery pull. I assume this may not happen as often but I recently get it a couple times already.
I spoke with the S2 guys and notice this happens to their handheld due to the sensor set. One best way to work around is simply Turn off proximity sensor under Call setting.
This happen when I had a 2.3.6 TGY KK5 stock rom.

yeah buddy same thing happens with my device as well.. bt it doesent always have to be on speaker mode. on normal mode also sometimes my device goes blank..
anyone here help please.....
Several users on our russian forum have reported same problem on different ROMs (2.3.4, 2.3.5 and 2.3.6). Most of them are using phone calls about 60-90 minutes per day.
I never had this issue with my 2.3.5 Germany ROM, but I am using my phone for calls just for 5-10 minutes in a week.
Tip
You don't have to replace battery. Just long press power button (over 10 seconds), and phone should reboot.
I've seen the same problem on my phone, but after I pressed the power button for about 7 seconds and let go, the screen came back and I was able to hang up the call. I've turned off the proximity sensing (settings -> calls -> proximity sensor) and haven't seen the issue since then.

okk i wll give it a try........
my gf is experiencing this issue on her SGR as well. After a call, the phone will become unresponsive and the red spot(light sensor) near the speaker at the top of the phone will be lighted up.
using stock + ardatdat's 1.3A kernel (default settings).
will try the proximity sensor solution and hope the issue goes away.

yes buddy after unchecking the promixity sensor in call option it 0does work... bt still sometime red sensor glows and slows my phone down..... if anything of this kind is experienced then do share..
should be fine once you switch the proximity sensor off as thats what it seems to cause all the prob and the only thing u have to live with is ur screen doesnt go dim when you stick it to ur face while talking

Lost LED backlight for home/menu/back/search buttons

Running cm7 and having problems with the soft key LED backlight. Sometimes they are on, sometimes they are not. Sometimes when i turn on the phone they are on, after I unlock they turn off after a few seconds. Nothing I do can turn them back on after they turn off but they will turn back on randomly. Is this common? Is this a warranty issue?
Has anyone else had this issue?
I've had that problem on all AOSP roms. Though luckily CM7 has an option to fix it. I believe it's under CyanogenMod settings and backlight settings. I don't quite remember. I'll have to check and let you know exactly.
Go to CM settings and then to Display. Select automatic backlight, scroll down and check use custom. You're going to go into edit other levels and in the right column you'll see buttons. The default is 30 and if you change the value higher you'll increase the button backlight and they'll stop randomly coming on.

That worked perfectly! I never would have thought to even look there. Thanks a
Does it do this in complete darkness? A lot of roms (or maybe it's kernel settings, or both) use the light sensor to turn off the soft key lights when it's bright enough to see them but when you're in poor or no light, they stay on. It should save you battery and I actually like it.
Think the first rom I used was gingeritis and it had this feature and thought my soft key lights were burning out.
If you already know this or if it was happening in darkness, then ignore my post. Maybe some dust got in your sensor?

It was dark enough that I couldn't read the writing on the soft keys so of figured something was up but I figured it out. Thanks

Look up android sleep of death. I had on previous devices but not the note 13
I actually think it does wake up just not turning on the screen , i can hear the volume changing , and the device going to mute mode , but screen is off .
or maybe i am wrong and its normal to change the volume with the screen is off on samsung devices?

It isn't normal no, the only button that should work with the screen off is the screen on button. I'd start by looking into what shaun suggested above and if you find no fix, maybe just try a factory format? (back your data up first).
I get a slightly similar issue on mine but I got the bug when I flashed Hyperdrive Rom, my screen occasionally "goes off" but it's not really off, I can see the back light still. I just have to screen off/screen on and I'm fixed. Your issue sounds different though because you need forced reboot.
Hope you get it fixed, Good luck!

did OP ever get this resolved? I am having the exact same problem with the 10.1 2014. Screen goes to sleep, but when pressing power, or opening the book cover, the backlight does not turn back on. You can see the image on the LCD in the light and hear screen presses, or volume adjustments.
Tried factory reset, and Odin'd a fresh rom.. No go

I am on stock rom and never rooted. Mine started doing the exact same thing. You can see it on in the light. Factory reset didn't fix.
Hi,
I have a quite similar problem. It started with a charging problem so I thought changing the cable would solve the problem but no. My charging is kow ok, but each morning after a long charging night, my note n8010 with stock android gets SSSSSSLLLLOOOOOWWWW . Black screen, then slowly wakes up, but need 10sec to unlock screen and unusable... I have to force reboot too.
It seems like it doesnt want to wake up, like extreme energy saving mode... ?! No solution actually found for me
The only fix for me is flashing Boefla kernel

Dimming and screen shut off when on call

Can't for some reason find an option anywhere on the phone to stop this from happening. Every time I'm on a call after about 10 seconds the screen will dim and a few seconds later goes to black. Can tap on screen 2x to wake it up again but I don't want this to ever happen. Not connected to full device shut down that I have turned up to 5 mins so has nothing to do with that setting. Can anyone assist and help me stop this form happening all the time? Many thanks!

Go to Settings/ Accessibility/ Screen reader/ Under Voice Assistant tap settings then scroll down to Quick Menu, tap it, then look for Dark Screen toggle. Click this setting off.. Let me know if that works for you.

Not sure then because that was the only thing I could find.. Maybe it's a setting that we don't have control over.. I do know that the screen is supposed to shut off when it's close to your face and the reason being is so that your face isn't pressing on stuff and making the phone do things you don't want it to be doing.. My moms face sure does seem to disable a lot of stuff like fast charging and even turning the screen brightness so low that she thought it was broken haha..

HA. No, phone is on a desk, not near my face. But yeah most phones nowadays do that. Thanks for trying tho.
Anyone else with any thoughts?
Tried replicating the problem on my end. I called someone, enabled speakerphone and put the phone on the table.
The screen indeed turned dim after 10 seconds and turned black afterwards. It bypassed my screen timeout setting which is 5 minutes. The phone app is in the foreground. Double tapping the screen wakes it up.
I minimized the phone app; the homescreen is now in the foreground. It adhered to the 5 minutes screen timeout setting.
I guess the temporary workaround is that after you answer the call, exit out of the phone app.

Hi. I had the same problem and found the solution using third party application: Screen On Call from Google Playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vorlan.screenoncall.free
It is compatible with Samsung dialer. On the top later you have small button to prevent screen going dark or to disable it. Proximity sensor is working without problem when you hold the phone to the ear.

Yaaawhoooooooo!!! This totally works. I have been an Android user for years and could find an answer for this nowhere. Users, be sure to turn on "Appear on top".
Thank you. Life changing.
