[ROM]Latest firmware JDGC2.10.0 from ChinaUnicom - Defy Android Development

Dumped with 'cat' from the latest red version, so it's not flashable.
sorry mirror creator has been painfully slow for me now
http://u.115.com/file/dn66xsxo
I can provide a flashable zip later if needed.
there you go, changes made:
removed most of the 3rd party bloatwares
changed default language to english
updated flash and added ucweb (also fixed the persistent preinstall)
flashable via cwm (tested with 2.5.1.8)

Can you tell us something about this rom? i always liked China releases, specially because they are the only ones in the world with record button in dialer. Does this have something special vs other china releases?

not really. i only got hands on it today and didn't have much time to test.
it does have loads of bloatwares. feels a bit smoother than previous ones but in no way comparable to cm7.

Ok i installed it, its pretty much the same as 1.11 china unicom. Good Roms, ill stick with this its better than anything else.

China firmwares use to blow my flashlight off...

no no, china users had the same problem with flashlight in the first china rom, its not a problem anymore

China ROM because you can see ME525 not MB525 so ..... becarfull

Its not an issue anymore!!

guess you miss out on the good stuff then? not sure if 2.3.3 included them or not.
you could always give in and root your phone and install CM7
really, if i'd understand why rooting the nexus s is better than stock, i'd do it.
(except the language issue)

Rooting != Flashing. They're two different things.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/0...top-5-benefits-of-rooting-your-android-phone/
Kind of a outdated article but the points are there.
But hey, I'm not here to sell you a product or anything. But I'll just say that you're missing out because XDA is a place for individuals who want to maximize the capability out of their $529.99 purchase ($199.99).
Not to mention that the Nexus S is a Google device and branded 'Nexus.' The purpose of this phone is to hack it and do whatever you want with it.

Google Talk with video and voice ???

On april 2011 (a whole YEAR ago) , Google introduced the "new" Google talk for android phones, with voice and video-calls support, and as far as i know, its the gapps version of 2.3.4 . Why our O3D dosnt have it? Its is possible to install it?

I tried using a method from xda forums, however I just screwed gtalk and made it impossible to use (this also happened on my x10) so I think it depends on the phone or something
sadly google is not updating any google apps beyond market/play or gmail
A few months back an XDAer posted a ported version. I don't know where I put my copy of it, because when I switched back to Froyo I could no longer use it. From what I recall you had to flash it, rather than side load, but it worked perfectly! It should still be on here somewhere.
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA App
I think the ones you used were from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793
note: none of them worked on my o3d
Don't think that's where I pulled the file from. I did have a chance to dig through my backups from the Gingerbread days and found the file that worked perfectly here. I am pretty sure it was just a flash install, but can't test because I am back on Froyo. I really wish I could reference the author, and if you're out there please reply and take your due credit. I hope this works as well for you as it did for me!
argh can't flash, my cwm got screwed after I moved from 21a to 20a

Preinstalled Apps - Malware?

So I received my Z5 today, a grey import from taiwan. Preinstalled on the device are a number of applications, that I've never seen on any other phone before. I'm unsure what language they're in, Taiwanese, Japanese, Chinese even? The apps included but aren't limited to TVGO, Music Go! and Cyberon Voice manager. I also have this miscellaneous app that is simply asian characters which I do not understand. The apps are uninstallable, but I couldn't find much information about them online. I'm on build number is 32.0.A.4.11, which I believe is the latest official firmware? Screenshots attached below.

that is in chinese, unfortunately i cant read chinese lol. I wont say its malware and its expected to have some region's apps preinstalled.
Aside from that you can flash another stock rom through flashtool and use of xperifirm which will not contain these preinstalled apps.
I guess in Taiwan they may preinstalled apps (they think) which is helpful for the users.
It is like a "Information app", includes bus timetable, train ticket booking, weathers etc.
I dont have such app preinstalled in my phone (pre-ordered from Sony online store HongKong)
The third screen means "new version available, update now ?"
Google play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cyberon.android.voicego&hl=EN_US
I'm guessing you're not an Asian user, correct? If not, do yourself a favor and flash one of the European stock firmwares. Mine came with the Belgian firmware which is pretty clean.
Probably some Lifestyle manager/app -- It's asking to update.

DevBase | Faster & Comfort searching roms and other stuff

Hello, I am presenting the project in the alpha version, thanks to which the search for rom and twrps will be much faster and more convenient. For now, it has a local database, although in the future I will not exclude it will be global. Thanks to the function of sending a message to me, I will be able to add further items to the database. Unfortunately, the program does not currently support Google Drive links.
I remind you that this is an alpha version, thanks to which everything can change, from desing to general functionality.
Thanks to the built-in upgrade function, you will not lose another update.
It may not look good but I think I can improve it in the next updates.
The program was written in Autoit. I provide the program code after writing a message. The function can include:
-Auto Update
- A pleasant search for interesting items
-Easy contact with me
- Frequent updates guaranteed
- Possibility to send mistakes, ideas
