There is no gsm radio in the US wifi xoom. so never is as good as it gets right now.

Hi all! I leaving In UAE - Fujairah, and I'm planing to buy a Motorola Xoom. Maybe someone with more experience than me, can advice me, if it worth, if it will work on Etisalat 3G network, and finally if those Xoom 3G released by Verizon and sell via E-bay are OK for my location. Thanks in advance !!!

Axiom in UAE is going to be selling the XOOM. Sure they can provide more information they have a direct tie up with Moto,

The Verizon Xoom uses CDMA for 3G networks. If I remember correctly, Etisalat is GSM only, so it would not work. I'm not sure about 4G LTE though, but that's not active on the Motorola Xoom yet anyway.
BTW, I was in Fujairah a few weeks ago; my Verizon Xoom worked great on wifi.

ok, but in order to use the WI-FI, I need to be stuck in home or any other place which has a Wireless Network.....anyway, it looks like I have to wait for a while....
Maybe I become insistent, but I don't want to spend almost 1000$ for nothing. Can someone to confirm if this model Motorola XOOM MZ601 will work in my 3G network. I already read the details and also I check the compatibility list on above link, but.....i just want to make sure, maybe someone has the similar model and using in GSM network. Thanks in advance!
Does your network use sim card? If yes, then the Verizon Xoom won't work for you.
Verizon 3G Xoom uses CDMA, it won't work on GSM networks that use sim cards.

I asked the same question a couple weeks ago and got a positive confirmation from a poster visiting the UK and using a local SIM. So, the answer appears to be yes. I'm counting on it as well.
Yes. It has the 900/2100 MHz bands.
I will be taking mine to the UK on Tuesday, and using a local SIM, so I will know very shortly. I can let you know.

Thank you for the answers. I have inserted a Bulgarian sim in it now and it reads it well, but I was not sure about the 3G network.
I tried search for answers, but no luck.
Story is that I just bought a Skyrocket and cant be happier, but I'm planning to go to Taiwan for a month. I just realized that Taiwan uses UMTS 2100 for 3G and HSPA. I'm getting a lot of different info on the ATT skyrockets.
I'm wondering if I can take this skyrocket to Taiwan and use their 3G/4G networks.
Any input would be helpful.

edit: I think it will work.
3G or 4G will both work in Taiwan. I was able to use my skyrocket to tether and make skype video calls with no problem.

Did you have to do anything (like switch APNs)? My previous phone (Touch Pro 2) had 2100, but I wasn't able to connect, even though my phone said "3G". My brother's Atrix had the same problem. We couldn't get any data working at all.

Sounds like from these posts that the Samsung Skyrocket will work here without any problems.
Does it need to be unlocked? Some Skyrocket specs list the 2100 while others don't. That due to ATT trying to discourage others from buying this phone?

Of course you need it unlocked. I used my unlocked skyrocket last month in my vacation in the Philippines where networks uses 2100 for 3g and 4g.

Hello all
I recently got myself this HTC One s for T-Mobile. The phone is unlocked because i tried another gsm chip and it worked just fine.
But the real issue is that i cannot have 3G on my phone. Even tho Orange and T-mobile operate with the same bands.
I did get 3G when i tried my phone with another chip from other company that operates with the same bands as AT&T.
Has this happened to any one?
i dont cannot just move to the other mobile company..

An unlocked gsm phone will work, but will not have high speed web unless the recently refarmed 1900 spectrum is live in your area.

If what you say its true, then maybe my phone is not unlocked? How can i tell if its unlocked?
Let me ask you this, did you get a Tmo branded phone and are trying to use it on Orange or the other way around? I was speaking for if you were trying to use an unlocked phone on tmo..

Hey, does GS II Skyrocket have only 4G?? I tried looking for using only 3G or at least 2G but I can't find a way... My samsung was originaly from AT&T but I bought it Brand New Unlocked in Amazon... No matter what I try I can't have 3G! It's not that I don't like 4G, but the thing is... There is no 4G in my country!! I'm from Argentina using Claro. I need a quick answer please, everytime I want to use 3G I can't and the fake 4G of Claro takes away all my credit for calling and texting...

It's just a logo. But it's actually running on 3g. it's utms or HSPA+.
