What facts?
evo 3d won't have a chance in any benchmarks with the higher resolution.

I don't care for benchmarking being that lg htc and sam also moto all cam clock very hi the fact about mali 400 or adreno 220
Also the tegra and adreno by some tests is faster then gs2 look it up.

What about Games Index? There has been some preliminary benchmark results circulating on the internet on the S2 and they have not been very impressive for Samsung's latest GPU -Mail 400. It is no different here. At least their latest variation "SHW-M250S" shows some promise, getting closer to Tegra 2, but it is still behind even their own Hummingbird's PowerSGX540! Could Samsung have been mislead to believe that ARM's GPU solution is more competitive than it is in reality?

I should take the samsung galaxy s 2.
Personal, I don't like the design of the HTC. and 3d? do you really use that..
I prefer more a Samoled+ screen and a nice design.. But this is all personal of course.
I have the samsung galaxy s, and is so very nice compared to HTC phones. Only htc sense is better.

im wondering this myself. I think ill go with the samsung... faster, lighter, thinner, better screen, better camera... am I kidding myself?

i would definately recommend you the sgs2: it has decent battery, awesome screen, dualcore, its lightweight, slim and looks stylish. and also as maybe different to other samsung phones the gps quality is very good as well as the build, though of course it is plastic. no bads with the quality though!
and i think the 3d thing is not really usefull and if you are using it, you wont use it for long as it hurts after a while for most persons! and of course the camera with the sgs2 is better quality with 8mp against 5mp or 3d 5mp with the evo 3d

Farewell myTouch!

Well it's been a good run....But it's time to let go!
I have a nexus s and I'm trading this phone for a g2 because theres no reason to keep two phones with such similar features.
Perhaps, if the powers that be allow it (craigslist) I shall return!
Until then, it's been great guys have fun and take care.

Wait you are trading G2 for MT4G? WTF? are you crazy? Also NS is nothing special other than having SGX540 and SAMOLED. Far as SGX540 goes its slightly better than AMD Z460 regardless of what the Hummingbird fanboys want you to think. Far as performance goes has that POS device able to play full 720p videos yet? I just find it odd a phone that can score (via leak) 4000+ on quadrant with TrinityOC kernel can't even play video feed which says alot as synthetic score never translates in to real world performance. I mean only thing I hear people talk about when they say NS is THE update directly from Google. So? thats why we have AOSP and we get it better than official stock in month or two full working port.
Welcome to the nexus s family bro u will love it!!!

The myTouch 4G's huge advantage in RAM alone makes it a better phone than the Nexus S. With phone's like the Atrix now released (1GB RAM), the Nexus S' small 512MB RAM makes it seem ancient. I'll take the MT4G's 768.

Ya I didn't want to start Hummingbird SoC vs Snapdragon SoC war so I let that go but the fact is regardless of the synthetic benchmark the NS fanboy are so fond of MT4G is superior and no the POS SGX540 has nothing to do with it as it won't even be factor. With ext of 2GS and 768mb DDR in MT4G it will out do NS clock per clock. Far as Atrix goes yeah its using 1GB RAM but its DDR2 in this case as with higher latency with dual bandwidth is same as DDR1 as I thoroughly covered on AF forum. MT4G is better than NS regardless of what these fanboys tell you these are the same people who rely on Google for updates lol which says enough.
Mistake in two ways... Especially trading for g2...

No disrespect, but I was playing with the Nexus S at Best Buy last week and was actually laughing out loud! All I could think of was it was a re-badged Galaxy S phone (which I did own).
I also have to agree on the choice being bad, I have a Nexus One, Nexus S, and the MT4G, there are only two things I miss about the Nexus S that the MT4G doesn't have, I loved the screen, and the weight.
The MT4G has a better camera, its faster (OC'd to 1.5ghz right now), compared to the NS 1.3), the ram (even if its only a bit more).

Had a vibrant ....had a g2 had a nexus s .......kept the mt4g and so happy with it .....if u feel like it has a slicker design than that's cool but to me it felt like cheap plastic and couldn't deal with that specially dishing out $400 for it .....but once again pointless post trade ur phone keep the nexus s and enjoy and stop making dumb posts that make no sense .........use whatever makes u happy ....

That's because some of us actually has deep history in this fiasco that you can't even begin to comprehend. I mean when you are correct and have actual data to prove it regardless of the delusional placebo effect faced by 90% of the Hummingbird fanboys.
Then again its not your fault you properly use your phone for some girly chitchat, but some of us actually has MT4G connected to a cluster making it one of the vNodes thus able to swift and swing proc task via wifi taking the whole mobile computing to the next level.

Just to be clear she didn't indicate any of you she meant that only for me but failed in her attempt to be vague but then again I don't blame her its not actually her fault she does not understand it as normal home user like herself no need to know the technicalities as they just want it to work for whatever myspace or fing whatever she does. But for some of us its serious business as its interconnected to critical systems.

HTC vs. Samsung when it comes to Nexus Phones...

Hi,
I have published some thoughts regarding the Nexus One vs. Nexus S and how the manufacturers handled the job. Would be great if you could give me feedback with your thoughts.
Which manufacturer can create the best Nexus experience?
http://smartphoneblogging.com/2011/...acturer-should-deliver-the-next-google-phone/
Ok, I'm not quite happy with what you've said...
Nexus one vs nexus s hardware.
Both are using different hardware. N1 using Qualcomm and ns using arm. If you compare both of them thoroughly, arm so much is better than Qualcomm. E.g. Fast, low battery usage.
Compare hardware and software isn't enough. You should compare camera, lens, video, screen colours, etc.

You can't be serious.
The wolfson DAC in our Samsung phones are the highest quality sound processors available in any phone.
Samsung is my new favorite phone manufacturer. HTC designs seem so played out these days. The Nexus S is still the sleekest phone on the market.

While i have not ever handled a nexus one personally. I have however spent quite a lot of time with the HTC desire, which is more or less identical to the nexus one.
In terms of hardware, the nexus s is overall superior on paper and in practise. The 540 gpu in the nexus s is far more powerful than the adreno in the nexus one/desire.
The hummingbird in the nexus s again gives more performance than the first generation snapdragon in the nexus one. Both got good cameras in my opinion.
In terms of sound and music, i think the Samsung nexus s has the best audio output I've ever experienced as an mp3 player. With voodoo control the audio is amazing. No other word to use. Try it and see.
Build quality comes down to preference i think. Both use somewhat different materials. I like both.
When it comes to looks? No doubt in my mind...the nexus s is the most sexiest looking thing in the smartphone business. So God damn sexy its silly...lol
The display is again down to preference i suppose. But Super AMOLED is something real special. The colours are amazing again. With voodoo controls it gets even better with more customization. Just Wow. If i ever go to normal LCD displays again, how i will survive without super AMOLED i do not know. Its awesome.
Where the nexus one shines however is the inclusion of SD card input. That's the only real feature i wish the nexus s had. Also, although it has not been a problem for all the last 11 months I've had the handset, i do wish we had at least 1 gig of ram instead of the 512 mgb available.
Overall i think Samsung did a terrific job with the nexus s. Their hardware overall, and I'm not just speaking of Smartphones, are more often than not simply excellent. Quality through and through.

Everything else is fine, but I can't agree with this. Desire has very very bad camera in my opinion. Camera in Nexus S is not great, but it is way better.
The things you mentioned have been covered by a lot of reviews. I wanted to look from different angles.
Regarding hardware: I had the Nexus S and Nexus One side by side for some time. Both running gingerbread, and the Nexus S wasn't faster than the Nexus One. Only games are better and more fluid. I even had some instances where my Nexus S would freeze, never had such issues with the Nexus One.
In the end benchmarks don't tell anything, because the real life usage counts, and there is no big performance jump from Nexus One to Nexus S.

Yeah, the whole lcd vs. AMOLED issue is a matter of personal taste. Some people prefer AMOLED colors, others LCD clearness.
Since Samsung introduced super AMOLED plus (without Pentile matrix) the AMOLED screens have perfect text too. Finally no fuzzy text.

Hmm what's so special about the Nexus S hardware design? The Nexus One was really unique. Yes HTC used the Nexus One base for nearly any other phone, but at the time of the release there was no phone looking like the Nexus One.

2012 year of the quad cores

So I wanted to upgrade to a new phone like the amaze but it makes sense to wait two more or 3 months for the quad core processor phones right guys? Let's hear some feeback and what are you gonna do? Wait it out too??

Yea, I agree. I get bored easily, this is the first phone I've kept for this long (about a year). At first, I was looking at a gradual upgrade, something like a sensation or a g2x... Then I figured if I'm gonna spend $$, might as well just do it for the long haul & look into an amaze, galaxy s2 or even wait for a galaxy nexus... After all is said & done, I'm still using my glacier & will continue to do so. We've got an awesome dev section & something better will always be just ahead of the curve, but I'm definitely waiting for 2012...

The Ville is the 4.3" ICS phone right? That sounds so much nicer size-wise than the massive Galaxy Nexus. Should come out more compact than the Amaze or Sensation due to the removal of buttons.
However the render appears to have a screen aspect ratio of 1.64 or so, which is closer to the 5x3 of an 800x480 display than the 16x9 (1.777) of a qHD display. So the render is misshapen.

Yes the ville is the 4.3" screen one. Same screen as the RAZR i believe. Its gonna be nice because the 28nm processor allows for it to be really thin. So it shouldn't be much heavier than the MT4G.

it will come with 1.5GH snapdragon s4 processor and here's the full specification of it. A 4.3-inch qHD (960×540) Super AMOLED display; a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor; 8MP camera on the back with 1080p HD video capture; a 1,650mAh battery; HSPA+-connectivity; and Beats Audio Technology. If you are waiting for the greatest smartphone you will be waiting forever, there is always going to be a rumor about a supposed OMG smartphone RIGHT before you was about to purchase the smartphone you thought was awesome. In my opinion, to have a really satisfying smartphone experience there needs to be great utilization of software and hardware. Software is something that has always been a bit of a hindered on devices with custom skins (most of the Android ecosystem). The only ways to really circumvent this is to either buy a Nexus devices or root your device in HOPES of finding a solid ROM to flash. I think this makes the decision quite easy, buy the Galaxy Nexus.

Does galaxy S2 more powerful than sensation?

One of my friend using Galaxy S2,his phone can run fruit ninja HD quite smoothly, but on my sensation it runs choppy,we also done lot of benchmark, the score on S2 just way higher than sensation, now im wondering is our phone really that powerful, its performance just only like single core with areno 205 phone, let discuss here
That s ii is more powerful in terms of CPU and gpu
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Dont under estimate your sensation than his galaxy S2 because Touchwiz UI is a light and crappy UI while sensation has a rich Nd heavy UI which makes the benchmarks down...
I agree S2 has a Better GpU, but sensation is also not so far behind...
Checkout cyanogen mod-i use hypersensation and faux kernel...it will surely help for benchmarks as well as gamez, but if you want perfect battery life too, you should under clock...
Hope this helps

Use bricked kernel to make fruit ninja and other games work like they should.
I also want to recommend you flash Gingerbread Sense 3.5 (2.08.401.1) that has much better adreno driver than sense 3.0 and also don't have that fps limitation which make games like fruit ninja choppy and laggy.
Exynos is more powerful, yes. But there's no reason why your phone can't handle Fruit Ninja. I play it all the time with no issues.
Sensation would have given a performance close to GS2 if it was not qHD... Gs2 is not qHD..
Everything runs in high resolution on this phone... That's why Sensation has 25% less performance... But overall Sensation has sharper display compared to GS2...
Gs2 icons looked very soft compared to Sensation
Add to that, Sense UI is more CPU consuming...

But frankly speaking, qHD doesn't makes much difference ...

Try rebooting the device and launching the game again.
Our even better, if you can, install a custom rom and you'll see how smooth it becomes.
If it runs smooth on mine it has to fly on the Sensation. Great phone! Very sexy too! Way more than SGS II on my opinion.

Holiday Comparison
Over the holidays a buddy of mine brought his new rooted GS2 over. We swapped phones to check them out. The GS2 was wicked fast and smooth scrolling and entering various apps. Entering apps like picture galleries was almost instant, which was cool. Connecting to the internet was faster on my Sensation and Sense 3.5 makes Touch Wiz look childish. The build quality of the SG2 was CRAP!!! The phone felt really cheap. And as for looks, no contest. Even iPhones look better. I was considering getting The Galaxy Note(mainly for the screen size), but not anymore. .

Why? Ever tried to play a game on your PC with high resolution?
The FPS drops intensely... This is what's happening with sensation... I suppose if we run fruit ninja with 800x480, it will be as smooth as with GS2

it does.benchmarking depends on resolution directly
try over clocking and try the benchmarks again i love the look and feel of my sensation over anything else
GS2 is more powerful, plain and simple. The Exynos processor is way better than ours, A9 architecture vs. custom A8, and it's synchronous vs asynchronous. The GPUs are both very good. The GS2 CPU is what gives it the advantage.
People are overblowing the resolution difference. Yes, it makes a bit of a difference, but not as much as raw horsepower. The Galaxy Nexus has a way higher resolution than the GS2 but it manages to perform about as well (and also better than the Sensation).

you must have a look at benchmark scores of galaxy nexus... Watch some videos... It's almost the same as sensation and that too because it's HD display...:-/
Yeah, the Galaxy Nexus doesn't do as well on the Sensation on benchmarks. The PowerVR SGX540 is outdated and they underclocked it too I believe. Just compare the NenaMark 2 scores and you'll see the difference.

Why aren't there any upcoming 3d smartphones

I know that many people don't like 3d effects but many people love it and our lg is becoming old ..many devices are now all about the quad cores and kraits but no new 3d devices..I wanna get a new phone but 3d is something I wanna have in my phone....so why aren't there any new 3d phones ( other than the sharp which isn't that much )??

Why people still watch 2D TV?
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app
i think its because most people would rather have a smartphone that "just does what its supposed to"..
if it looks good and functions as a mobile phone i think customers are happy... HTC Evo 3d proved to be a nice phone but there wasn't an upgraded version.. probably due to unsatisfactory sales. I guess that's the thing with 3D, its alot like Marmite, and i guess some Electronic Companies just aren't going to take the risk.
-----
On the upside there is a third party company that is currently creating a display that clips on top of the iphone and itab display that gives it a 3d image that looks quite promising.

I don't know why but I have a feeling that we won't see another decent 3D phone any time sooner. Till 3D won't be a normal thing in everthing, like 3D TVs' price won't be something acceptable for a decent one (I mean like 42 inches TV with no matter what type of glasses), till we won't have enough 3D cameras, also at a decent price, we won't have another decent 3D phone.
For me my main criterias to have something with 3D logo is:
- at least 42 inches TV set at the lowest price possible - for me the decent size is 50 inches.
- a 3D camera with some good 3D images - Fujifilm did its' best with W1 and W3 but there's always place for better equipment
- a 3D videocamera at a decent price - the lowest price I've seen was 300 euros but imagine the image quality at this price.
- and the final and most important one - the spread of 3D around me - friends and others. I can't show my 3D photos and videoclips anywhere else but on my TV and this because I'm the only nutcracker that believes in 3D among my friends.

The 3D screen isn't the most important thing.
The 3D Camera is!
My self-shot pics look awesome on my 3D TV.
LG said sometime back that it wanted to stay ahead on the 3D phones b/c 3D TV's is of major importance and with 3D phones they can keep experiencing with things. Maybe someone has a link to the interview.
That was unfortunately before 3D Max was released, which wasn't really a new phone.
Why not put 3D in the Nexus 4? Or release a seperate Nexus 4 or Optimus G with 3D.
Make the phone a bit fatter, and just keep it well updated. Just keep vanilla android on it.
When people make more 3D pics with their phone, they may buy more 3D TV's.
And if they make pictures with LG, then they may pick an LG TV as well.
It's not as if 3D technology is too advanced.
You need 2 cameras and the right software. It's so easy that I can't understand why they haven't released one yet.
I still trust that at least LG will release a new 3D phone in the next 6 months.
I only fear that it will be an outdated phone again with low ram, 2 cores, 4,3" monitor, etc.
But boy if they would only......
I'm for now sticking to my O3D. It's the best there is 3D-wise.
I really hope samsung or sony jump into 3D phone scene too. And make it 5" quad core as powerfull as Note 2 or S3.
I'm not too sure about this but, I think LG and HTC might hold patents on parralax 3d technology, hence this might be an obstacle for Samsung and others..
Don't quote me on it though.

To tell the truth you only need one camera, a steady hand and a proper software - all of them exists and can give a normal dual camera photo

For me LG won't release another 3d phone in the next 12 months. They are stucked with unsold phones (mostly the vendors) both of first O3D but also O3D Max, they made themselves a bad name in customers' support and for me, I really hope that they won't release another phone, 3D or not. Because of them my Android experience is not so positive as I hoped will be so I'm taking in consideration to go for a Windows Phone or return to my Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, a phone I loved. No iSueAll, no SamOldCopy. Maybe Nokia Meego or, if there would be WebOS or Firefox OS, I would give them a thought.

Yeah IMO a 3D Phone should be the Flagship Device the device with everything but it seems the 3D device made are just average phone with 3D no wonder people don't buy them. Maybe with The New 1080p screens 3D might be morethan a gimmick
That's probably right but 3d phones are not over ....but not so popular..they need to release a phone with high specifications which 3d is just one of the features. ..so both people who like 3d or not would buy it.

Symbian had it's days, but one thing i like about symbian and dislike about android is that Android has higher hardware requirements. eg N8 @680mhz It does 720p @30fps afaik Android Requires 1GHZ+. i Wonder If android was not running of Dalvik VM but pure Linux ELF bianries appz would the performance be better? /offtopic
