Is anybody else getting horrible audio quality with headphones after the update? Even at low volumes, my music is distorted and very tinny.
Before the update, the audio quality was excellent with headphones in, but it's unbearable now
I tested this with Pandora, Google Music, and Doubletwist, so it's not a software issue.
Music et sound through my headphones are just as good as it was before the update. The speakers themselves were never good, but I see no change in output on my headphones or external speakers
I cant comment on that but I did notice that my speaker output levels are different now. They are about 65/35 right dominant. I don't think it was like that before.
No changes for me: external speakers are the same (not the best, but evenly distributed) and headphone sound is good enough.
I had the same problem after the update. Offline update for a second time without any success.
Resetting the device to factory defaults solved the sound problem.

Hi! I'm interested in buying the Desire Z, but I'm not familiar with the sound quality on A2DP headphones on Android. On WM there are settings like bitpool in the registry that can change the quality a lot, but as far as I read, there are no such settings on Android and the quality is really bad.
Is it true or is there a way to change some settings to improve quality? This is really important to me and I don't think I would be buying a phone that can't play my music properly.
My htc hero and car stereo utilizes A2DP perfectly, streaming audio to car speakers. Have not noticed any bad quality, not åk expert though

Thank you for your reply, I'm hoping that I will be able to hear it myself sometime soon and see how it sounds.
Btw, have you had any disconnects and things like that?
I tested my jabra BT320s on a desire I have access to and the A2DP was spot on, it used the handsfree function aswell without issue pausing the music then carrying on after the call etc...
Am impressed, this was with stock tmobile UK firmware aswell.
Only personal experience
I have to say that when compared to Nokia N900 the a2dp sound quality doesn't seem to be as good. The music sounds somehow thinner. To make these comparisons I have used the same media files, same nokia bh-214 handsfree and same sennheiser mx550 headphones.
I hope it is possible to somehow tweak the a2dp sound quality since i think it's all a question of a2dp audio quality settings.
It has the be said though that in contrast to nokias bluetooth implementation the android one does handle switching from music to phone calls and back quite flawlessly.

Hi all,
I updated to the new .13 firmware yesterday. Everything seems fine except one little problem. The audio output sometimes just don't obey the headphone jack status. There was one time audio was playing through both the speakers and the headphone. Also, after a long sleep, there is no audio output.
Sometimes the music app plays music on it own, or stop music on it own. Really annoying bug.
Does anyone experience similar hick up?
Thanks
I just updated my dock firmware and also don't have any audio coming out if the speakers. I've yet to try a reboot because I'm about to pass out lol...but hopefully Asus knows and will put a fix out soon

having the same problem with my system after the update, keyboard/keypad/wifii work well, but low audio or no audio at times.
Hi everyone,
I seem to be having issues on the stock ROM sometimes where the audio quality drops and sounds like call audio, that's the best way I can describe it. This happens on the speaker on the phone, Bluetooth headphones, wired headset, everything. I managed to find a temporary work around in Poweramp which sometimes doesn't even work at all.
Hello all,
I have a very weird issue on my Mi4. There is no audio output from any app (Media player, Whats-app, Skype, Youtube, etc. )regardless if it's the phone's speaker or if there are headphones. There is simply no audio. But here is the crazy thing - the microphone works so i can send audio messages on whatsapp for example or record my voice but can't hear them back. Also the only audio output i get both from the loudspeaker and headset is from a standard phonecall. Anything else is simply mute. No sound at all.
I've tried scouring the internet for a problem like this but haven't found anything. I've tried a lot of things short of reflashing the rom. But if someone can come up with a better solution i'd be more than happy to try it.
Thanks
Update: I flashed another ROM and the problem persists.
Fix for Audio Issues - Bluetooth speakers & headphones - distorted sound / no bass
A little background - this is an issued I've had since my OP6, and includes the OP7 and OP8. On my past 3 OP phones, I had an issue where most Bluetooth headphones and speakers would sound good initially, but would eventually sound terrible. The issue for me would be bass would be non-existent. Nothing was changed as far as the built in audio controls (Atmos and the EQ). Nothing short of a factory reset would solve the problem. I have one pair of Bluetooth headphones (cheap Otium beats knockoffs from Amazon) that never had this issue, but every other pair of headphones and Bluetooth speakers would.
This is a common problem as seen on the official OP forums. Some people claim making a call would solve the issue - it didn't for me.
What did solve the issue was ViPER4Android (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223) I'm not sure what the issue is with the built in audio drivers and controls, but the OP software has long-running issues. Viper solves these issues perfectly. I would recommend turning Atmos settings to None, and resetting the EQ to flat and letting Viper handle the enhancements.
Of course, this requires root, but it seems to be the only solution to this issue.
