Disable OTA's? (Rooted) - Verizon Droid Charge

I know it's usually pretty easy to disable OTA's but can someone direct me in the right direction? This is my first samsung, I don't know what their updater app is called.

Wrap aluminum foil around the top and bottom of the phone and it will keep the OTA from getting in.

Lmao haha

You might want to take this opportunity to see if you can download, but not install the OTA. If I recall correctly I think this has been done before to find out more data about the OTA to assist in rooting it. I would do it, but I think the salesman snuck it in under my radar while he was "transferring contacts."

Screen bleed fix in 2.3.3

They will lower the maximum brightness level making it less noticeable
By a method known as "smoke and mirrors".

more like they just told you something to make you go away and leave them alone for a while
I was like no sir I think your wrong. He was really confident that it was going to fix it. Then I asked when he said in a month or two... ha. But they are sending me a new battery cover because mine is getting a little crack form constantly removing the fn battery. Free of charge.

The update is also going to fix cracked screens and dust
This is what we call "lying" ladies and gentlemen. They told you something that made you go away, that's all customer service is concerned with right now.
I heard the new update will actually change your screen to SAMOLED+ which is why it's taking so long.

I'm pretty sure this is wrong. I actually heard that the update spawned a tiny unicorn and it is poking holes in the LCD causing dead pixels.

So does the phone scratch easily?

So guys in terms of the metal around the phone does that scratch easily? Im using the Case-mate pop case but im thinking of using the barely there case. I really like the slim form of the phone. Any suggestions?
Well mine has a Few nicks in the bottom right corner. But I daily drop or accidentally throw my phone and I don't have a case. Had the phone for three months as well. So that's actually impressive from my track record. Stands up to significantly much more than any phone or laptop I've had. Carries only one scar too

I've done that when I'm holding the phone and use the same hand to point to something. The phone just flew out.

The tape below the battery

You guys removed it too, right? I think I get a better signal with it off. Probably placebo though.
Sent from Narnia
It was already missing on my refurbished phone I have been using since June, never had signal issues myself

Couldn't hurt to try it. I will try it tomorrow, when I'm at spots were I know I consistently get the same signals.

I was thinking of removing it too.
Sent from my LG-P999
I removed mine months ago. It is difficult to tell, but I think removing it hurt my signal slightly. A bigger issue for me is which hand I hold the phone in. There is a two bar difference sometimes,
for real??gonna try it tonight.
What exactly is it?
The tapes there probaly to protect the atenna, but i guess it might improve a bit.

I believe it is there to prevent static electricity from your hand effecting the antenna, but I have been wrong before.
There was a thread about this the week the phone came out.

Buzzing-Rattling Sounds in case.

Brand new One X from AT&T store on Friday. I've noticed when setting the phone down, or tapping the phone, there is a buzzing/rattling sound up around the camera/top portion of the phone.
WTF?
Phone hasn't been dropped. hardly used and in a soft case the entire time.
Guess I can take it back..of course it is rooted/unlocked...but whatever. I know the sales rep since we do business with them and probably would swap it no questions.
Does the white case come off the phone somehow to access batter? Thought maybe I could open it up and check it out real quick and see if it is something stupid..but don't want to screw my phone up either.
Thx.

Yea every phone has this rattling. Its the auto focus lense.

It can also be that the sim card is loose when inserted. That was another culprit. I put some scotch tape on top and cut it to shape. That extra bit stopped the rattling and improved my signal.

Dot Case

So I saw the dot case in store on the display model, which we have all probably seen, However which the security device on the back side of the display models I was unable to notice this (see pictures) and I did not notice it in any of the reviews.
I really like the concept of the minimal 8bit lock screen which the dot case and further more the option to answer and make calls without opening is a great plus.
That said it's a shame I won't be using the case now that I have it. The lid does not close flush on the back when open which means the right hand must simple hold the phone and case preventing the right thumb from being able to be used to type / navigate on the screen. And if you were to not hold the lid flush against the back your left and can not maintain a firm grip on the phone because the lid is a tpu material which renders it a bit slippery.
This disappoints me because I really like the features it add.
* note to mods our accessories link is not working this is the reason this thread is in general and not /accessories

I noticed that too. I'm hoping mine just breaks in to a point where it was like my note flip case
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using xda app-developers app
you dont think it will soften up over time?
This has been mentioned in the Dot View review thread, Others have said it is nearly impossible to type with the cover folded back unless you are really pushing on it.
The case itself does not appear to provide much, if any protection to the back and sides. The Dot View look is cool but with the lack of protection and the flip cover not laying flat, I passed.

Same here after playing with it in store. More of a "cheap gimmick" case imo. Looks cool at night to show off to Ur friends but for any protection, day to day use, and the dot dirt it leaves on screen. Obviously not much thought went into this case outside of the "gimmicks."
Maybe if a soft see through cloth was on the inside of the lid so no dot dirt goes on device, lid actually was flexible to bend back and stay there, feel secure when closed, and had more protection then a cheap $5 knock off case, it would be well worth the $30 maybe $40 tops. Watch a cheap Chinese knock off becomes available on eBay in a few months with all these improvements and half the price, lol!

Lol, not much thought went into this case???? Ok. I think a lot of thought went into this case, and I think they did a excellent job on it! The case, is meant to use while on the go. Like driving, and at work. Hence the reason for the features it carries. It's not meant to text with it. Lol. Just saying. Everyone has their opinions though.

Not flaming, serious question.... Are you saying that you remove your case when texting or otherwise using your phone?
Imo a if your a case type of person wouldn't u want a case to leave on at all times?
I even like the display when the lid is on, in fact once we have write on the /system I fully intend on making it an optional lock screen when no security it being used.

Ya when I'm at home. I remove any case I may have. I don't personally use cases a lot bro. I'll use one at work because I'm a chef. And my hands get greasy. But for the most part I go bareback.

OK, fair enough. We each use our phones/cases differently.
Run thanks for the the review bro I've been wondering about this case myself. I agree looks cool imho it's a bit silly if you actually fully remove the case for texting I mean seriously lol but everyone does have different uses. I got the incipio case which I'm pretty happy with dot case is a pretty neat feature.

Let me clear it up a little. Lol. I don't remove my cases to text. Lol. I remove them period, as soon as I hop in my ride after work. I hate cases. Only reason I use one is so I don't get my phone all greasy while at work, I'm a kitchen manager and a chef. Hope that clears up my comments a little.

Not a problem. I figured I'd either get some people prepared for what to expect or at least save some people a few bucks from buying something they will end up not using cause as of right now I have yet to see any in store and had I had the opportunity to play with it before hand I would not have bought it.
Having said all that if someone still wants it pm me and I'l send you mine,
Be moral if you actually want it let me know if you just want it cause it's free please let someone else have it

I just stick my index finger between the case and the flap and the rest of my fingers on the outside to hold it in place. No problem texting for me.
