On the sdcard partition: nook -> MyDocuments. You have to refresh My Files before it'll show up, probably a couple of times, it's tricky. If you go into a book and come back out, the new additions show up after a few seconds of refreshing.

I like Asus stock Reader. Interface is nice and smooth. Even turning the pages (unlike most of the other readers).

Unless they enable the "Read-to-me" feature on the Nook app the NC will be unbeatable! Gonna install the Nook app now; after switching from the XOOM I completely forgot about that one!
Starting yesterday, my Nook app seems to repeatedly reset to page when I'm reading anything (magazine, eBook, etc). It will go blank, and then about a second or two later, the screen returns with the menu overlay. Happens about once a minute, makes it really hard to read. Odd that it just started happening.
I'm going to downgrade and root this week anyway so I can do a factory reset for 3.1, but I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this in case that doesn't fix things.

I am finally free of the evil Amazon App Store and I also deleted all the free apps of the day I downloaded. I want a few of them again from the Android Market but after an uninstall and even a clear data from the Market the Market says I already purchased those apps and it won't let me download them! Does anyone know of a way to fix this issue?
Steps I have taken:
- Clear data and cache of market app (numerous times)
- Wiped entire phone
- Reloaded ROM
- Did NOT let the setup restore anything
- Reloaded my apps with TiBu
For some reason the market on my phone and online says I have some of the Amazon apps I still want and won't let me download them. It just says purchased and won't let me download them because I didn't buy them from the Market. Any help would be awesome!
why is amazon evil? Because they give you free apps everyday? Or let everyone in your family have an app with only one purchase?

umm, he bashed amazon, I asked why. I have no idea why market says apps are installed that really aren't. My solution, you should have all your apps backed up with either app monster pro or titanium backup. App monster pro lets you restore apps directly from the market.
If not, a hard reset might be the easest answer.
At least my post was on topic.

They may or may not be evil, but they do write some sh**** code for their amazon store application as well as how they implement their DRM. I can tell you however, that they are pretty evil to those that choose to develop on their appstore though.
http://bithack.se/news/apparatus-amazon-july-4-2011.html
I'm guessing the market somehow still thinks you purchased the apps because of the amazon store writing half*** code and there's not much that can be done really
Mustang302LX, I just tried to duplicate the issue and wasn't able to. "Seal" is a paid application I downloaded from Amazon. When I uninstall it and then go to the Android Market there's no trace of it from the Amazon store. The google market should only recognize apps purchased via its checkout.
I would try another full system wipe including the Android and data folders on your sdcard. Basically try to get it as close to out of box as possible without going back to the stock rom

I'm not a dev so I really don't care if an indie dev has a problem with amazon. I like to purchase apps on there because I have 4 phones with 4 different gmail accounts, that I would have to purchase 4 copies of the same app for my family. This would get expensive quick. Amazon allows you to install an app across all of your devices. This is why I always look there first when buying an app.
I wish the review process was faster, but I appreciate the fact that they review the apps. The market is full of crap apps and apps that have been copied from other devs. I know its the other extreme, but coming from windows phone, I prefer that to any app making it and it being up to me to make sure its not malware.
What's weird about the OP's problem is that when I install an app from amazon and from market (on accident I've done this a couple of times), it recognizes either way that it was from the other site and asks me if I want to uninstall the one version and install it from the market.
If this is happening after a data wipe, there are bigger issues here.
edit: same reason I use amazon music vs google music. I would have to upload my music to all the gmail accounts instead of one amazon account.
Now who's off topic, we're glad YOU prefer Amazon and it fits for YOUR family but...that's not what this thread is about. And please don't write back with some looooong semi personal response, it's not that serious.

Update: I removed my SD card and turned phone on and cleaed market cache and data and no good. So I came up with a backup plan. Since the Market allows for multiple sign ons I created a 2nd account and using that I am able to sign into the Market easily and download all the apps it claims I have purchased on my primary account. It's not the absolute best work around but it does work so that's a good thing for now.

I recently pulled the Wired Magazine .apk from a cousin's Kindle Fire, and have found that it works well on the Nexus 7, and presumably other tablets. The current version is ̶2̶.̶7̶.̶0̶.̶1̶1̶.̶6̶0̶2̶0̶1̶ 2.9, and the only downside is that it seems like the magazine itself does not fill the entire screen while in viewing mode.
Some prerequisites:
-both Adobe Air and the Amazon Appstore must be installed (you must be logged in, too) for the app to function
-if you have an ad blocker installed, you must add any any websites that include adobe to your whitelist. Mine included "broker.adobe.com" and "stats.adobe.com". This might not be necessarily, but it is a good precaution. If you ignore this and the app crashes, uninstall it and add them.
Just install the app normally after checking the first two things. Also, you must have already purchased the magazines (at least in my testing). If you have a print subscription, I would advise creating your account on a computer, not in the app.

The Kindle Fire HD is the same screen resolution, but the regular Kindle Fire is not. It's 1024x600 vs 1280x800, a short coming of ~200 pixels in each direction. This could explain the black edges. Maybe it defaults to the 1024x600 resolution unless it sees some indication of being on a Fire HD (ie: build.prop or other file). If so, I imagine there could be a fix for this to mimic the HD and get the full resolution.
OR, Wired could just release the damn app for all Android platforms. :silly:

I think you're right, but I unfortunately don't have access to a Fire HD. I think they use different versions on each different model, so that might be why. That is a complete guess, through.

Yeah, F* that. Wired will give a free interactive digital issue to iPad and Kindle owners, but charge existing subscribers extra for some crappy PDF version that I could download for free from a number of places.
If Wired doesn't change it's tune, I'm planning on cancelling once my current subscription is over - just on principle.

I used to get this error on my Nook Color but was able to successfully ignore it. Make sure you have the Amazon App store installed, logged in and updated. I think you also need Adobe Air. If you haven't already, "purchase" the Wired app in the Amazon app store via the web. It won't let you download the app and will say your device isn't compatible, but maybe it will get rid of the ownership message. I'm guessing here, so no promises this will fix anything.
Still not working on my n7. I've gotten it to work on my cm7 nook color, but I've tried everything on my n7. I've even re-installed the amazon app store and adobe air. I've also tried the previous version of the wired magazine apk. I get everything to install and open normally, I just can't log in to download my subscriptions. Anyone have any other suggestions?
The messed up thing about this is that it was a wired article that I was reading on my nook color that made me want to upgrade to the n7.

Make sure you disable any ad blocking software or changes made to your hosts file to block ads. This prevents you from logging in to the app.

If you have Adobe Air installed, then I don't know what you can do. Try uninstalling Air and the Wired, and then re-install them. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you. Wired doesn't offer ANY support so you're just out of luck.

Bluestacks isn't in the store yet - I just checked (LOL). We need to reasch out to them and find out their timeline.
First Gotcha
The first limitation I've encountered that I'm not real fond of is the lack of POP3 support in the mail client. If you go to Mail -> Settings -> Add -> Other Accounts, it let's you enter the info for a pop3 account then populates a screen with the info it's retrieved from the server, then shuts down with no message. I don't like that.

You can get the sd media into the library. It involves going into disk management (via desktop mode) and adding a mapping to a local ntfs folder (you need to create this folder on the c: drive of your surface. Once you do this, you can then add the local directory (I created c:\media and mapped separate folders for each library, i.e. Music/pictures/videos) or subdirectory to your library.
There is a thread on wpcentral discussing this.

You would also need to get the Flash enabled version of GTV Chrome working, since that is really what the app relies on.
EDIT: At least that is the case on the Sony NSZ-GT1. If it is different for your device, I'll have a look, but from what research I have done, it is not an easy task & it will involve a few modifications that will not sit well with other apps or the Play Store.
Post it up though, I just got my dev environment setup on my new machine & the missus will be out of town this weekend.

Well, I have to report that I have had little luck getting this to work on any non-GTV device. I even built an AOSP build with using a GTC boardconfig. No luck.
I am very pissed with Amazon though, so I went & bought a LTE KF HD 8.9 & I am going to play with getting it working on other tablets. Man I hate the Kindle stock experience. Thank goodness for root. I'll let you know if I find a simple way to get it running, but it will take some time as business is wicked crazy right now.
Any luck?

Yes & no. I have firstly been playing with the Nexus 10 & the KF HD 8.9. I was able to finally get AVOD to work on the Nexus 10, BUT, *BUT*, I essentially had toport the entire KF rom to the Nexus 10. It is buggy & there are some graphical & resolution issues, but it worked.
The only other instance I have found was also similar. A guy got it working on a Galaxy Tab, essentially doing the same thing, porting the whole KF rom.
You could of course use a different launcher, but it is still ICS, 4.0.3, & aside from losing a lot of the N10 cool features, it really is far from stable. I don't have a lot of time for this stuff at the moment, work is crazy busy these days. At any rate, I am going to see if I can try to go about it the other way & try to port some of the KF framework & core apps to JB when I get some time. Right now though, it is a no go.
