Hey I was wondering if anyone knew or a Ventrilo program for android (HTC Incredible)
I heard of Centrilo for WinMO, but tbh could never get it to work, is there a Vent based program for our phones?
Thanks in advance
conty
*edit*
So i found this and I was wondering if anyone knows anyone who could help them, I would LOVE to see this app fully working on a android based phone...

Why should he edit the URL? Are you using Chrome? I've noticed it likes to fail on forums and when the forum shortens URLs and puts the "..." in place of the text it has taken out, chrome will think the ... is part of the actual URL.
That along with a few other problems Chrome had given me, has made me switch back to Firefox.
Anyways, here's the link.
Apparently the company is having problems finding a Android/Java developer.
It was posted in March, and there had been one reply by someone interested. So I'm not sure if someone has taken this project on or not.
Anyone know anymore of a Ventrilo app coming?

He fixed the link (see edit), but I think the link issue may have been fixed in the latest Chrome (if it supports WebM it should work, but I am stuck using Firefox myself for various reasons even though it still has memory link issues, esp. with certain plugins =p).
contagous, as far as Ventrilo/TeamSpeak/etc, what cody said still stands. Because they choose to stay closed-source there isn't even a way for Android developers to "take a whack at it". Part of the issue is that some of the codex they use are copyrighted themselves, but it's mostly an issue of them being closed-source. I know how cool it'd be to be in a game and have your buddies on a on your phone (either via speakerphone or even better, a bluetooth headset), but based on what I know we won't see it soon.

lol thanks, i was wondering if the linux version that was open source, someone would create something with that.
oh and this has nothing to do with games , i speak to my family on vent a lot, because we can all be in the same place and chat. See they are all back in UK, and im in Seattle WA
Anyways thanks, and maybe one day
Make them get Skype then =p, I believe you can do voice conferences in there (I have the hardest time getting my friends to install Skype, they always say "Well not a lot of people I know use it", to which I often reply, "That's the problem! Just download it and get the ball rolling!" and then bang my head up against a solid object for a few minutes =p.
Everyone has Skype, Skype is good but everyone all in one place without push to talk to crazy, BUT BUT check this out
http://androidforums.com/android-developers/44723-ventrilo-android-lets-make-happen.html
They did it, and it works amazing, its still only in alpha testing but its awsome
they have a test version to download works fairly well too its a bit loud on the receiving side but for the most part good.

Very nice, I had not come across this alternative but it seems to have a really good flow going (I like that they support Android 1.5 - 2.2 already). I am going to setup a VMWare install tonight on my 8GB flashdrive that will be my Android workstation, I'll lend these guys any help I can.

Sounds awsome
This morning, went to market->My Apps on my Xoom, and it's only showing about half of my apps. No apparent pattern to what is missing (and I can see that market still has them, just its not seeing them associated with my account.) It was fine yesterday, and no updates on my end.
Anyone else seeing this?

When you scroll down your list in MyApps, do you see a list of uninstalled apps after the installed apps? If not, look at the menu (the 4 stacked up lines in upper right hand corner) and click on purchase history. That should have all the apps you've downloaded and you should be able to reinstall the missing ones, unless Google Market thinks they are no longer compatible with your Xoom.

No, they aren't listing as uninstalled, not listing at all. Purchase history on the market.android.com web site is showing them, with install completed. So far, I think I've only seen free apps missing, but need to check more closely. But it's not all free apps, some remain.
Ok, one new data point. My market account is shared between my Xoom and my Photon. Just checked on the Photon and it is still showing apps in my apps that are not showing up on the Xoom (like Adobe Flash.) Very strange...

A simple reboot should solve the problem. It has happened to me a few times at random, but not as of lately. Not sure if the market runs into some issues or the system itself, but after a reboot everything should pop up and be just fine. It always did for me when I had this issue.

Rebooted, no change. Dug further, I'm only seeing paid apps, plus Google Maps and Videos in the list. But if I go in market to one of the other apps (for instance, Kindle), the market page offers open/manage, not install, so at that level it knows I have downloaded/installed the app.
Sent off a "Contact Us" to Google.
eric
Response from Google yesterday asked me to remove updates to Market. Problem was, I haven't received any updates to Market. So latest is that this is a problem they've seen in some other cases, no current fix, but a "specialist" will be getting in touch with me. No further followup today.
eric
Two days, two nags on the support email, no contact from the "specialist".
Found an app that I had installed that wasn't showing up had an update. Navigated to the app in market, and it showed update. Did the update. As the update finished, the app flickered into the My Apps list for about 2 seconds, then disappeared out of the list.
eric
Well, nagged Google again today, at least for a hint of when there might be a fix. Did get a response - basically we know there is a problem, we have no estimate for a workaround or a fix.

Here's what I would try if I were you:
1. Go to the options, applications, manage applications, all, and then scroll down and click the Market. Since you are having major issues it sounds like, I would recommend that you just hit clear data for the Market app. Maybe restart before you open the market again. See if that helps at all.
2. Just out of curiosity I would install the latest market update that was released for phones. I would see if the problem was still persistent there in the new market app. This market was intended for phones at the moment, but it looks like it will support tablets soon. It seems to fit pretty well on the Xoom. If all goes well, maybe you can stick with that one for a bit.
Here you can find the most recent apk for the market that was released for the phones some days ago: Android Market 3.1.3
That's really the only advice I can think of. If you were rooted you would wipe data, caches, and dalvik cache to start a fresh new install to see if that changes anything. On technical speaking terms: there really is not much else you can do if this all does not work for you. Never seen anyone experience this before.
Thanks for the suggestions. Just tried both, and neither made a difference. Actually, pretty surprised 2) didn't make at least something different about the problem. I'm starting to wonder if the problem is something on the server/account side...
Google says they have seen others with the problem and are working on it, guess I'll just have to wait them out.

Sounds like it's server sided to me, which is really odd. I suppose it is a very unknown problem that only a very select few people have run into. Like I said, I have never seen this issue before on the Xoom.
I tried my best to help, but it's beyond anything we can deal with personally. Google says that they are working on this problem, so just hang in there.
Yup, will have to wait for a Google fix. Thanks for the replies!
eric
I'm not sure if you fixed it yet but here goes. I had the same problem; more than half of my apps would not show up under the "My Apps" list, even though if I searched for them in the market I could still update/uninstall them. I also searched through the forums but none of the suggestions helped. I finally fixed it tonight. Here's what I did:
(Oh yeah, you'll need Titanium Backup to be able to use the Market Doctor)
First I went to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications.
Selected the Market. Cleared cache, data, and uninstall updates.
Then immediately (I suggest you have it ready as a background app) I opened Titanium Backup and ran the Market Doctor. The reason i say 'immediately' is because the Market will re-update itself fairly fast so you have to get it done before it does so since I believe the Market Doctor does not work with the new Market.
That was pretty much it. When I opened the Market I saw that all my apps actually showed up in the My Apps list even after the Market updated itself. Hope it works for you.
I think you need to be rooted to use Titanium Backup, don't you? I'm running stock.
Nope, no more followup from Google at all. And now, even if I manually go to the market entry for an app, it won't always show me the "update" button, even though there is an update available.
eric
3 business weeks in, no fix, no workaround, not even an update email that they are still working on it. Google has a lot of customer support ground to cover to be a consumer company, and for now (3 weeks) I can't update my apps.
eric
Still getting the runaround from the Google Android Market Team. "At this time, I'm unable to provide a timeline for resolution, though I can assure you that we're aware of the issue and actively investigating. Thank you for your patience!" every time I nag them for the last 4 weeks. No request for more data from me, debug/logging version to run, etc.
So Monday I asked to have the case transfered to the manager. Get a new email, from "Richard" (no last name, same email address as the prior support member) saying the case had been transferred to him, and saying exactly the same text. Replied asking if there was anything I could provide to help, no response in now two days.
Looks like Google still hasn't learned anything about customer support. Can't wait to see how they do with Moto if the deal goes through...
eric
So "Richard" wrote back, explaining that they all use the same email address, and carefully avoiding answering my question about his role, i.e. was he really a supervisor/manager.
He told me that they have identified the source of the problem, so don't need any further information from me. No, there is not a fix available of any kind, and he doesn't know when there will be one. No, there is no work around other than calling up each app individually in Market and seeing if there is an update (not very practical for my large number of apps.)
At this point, I'm tired of beating a dead horse. I know we aren't Google's customers, we're their product, but they still have to learn to take user satisfaction seriously.

Not sure what to say at this point. If it was more widespread it would have been fixed right away. But, if it appears that they have now identified the problem, the coders will resolve it within days from now.
My final suggestion is to make a new email account altogether and try that. See if it still is the same problem. If so: It is your device, not Google.

It's not the device, because the problem is also replicated on the web site. Also, remember the Xoom is the reference device for Honeycomb (and I'm running stock), so still a Google issue if it is Xoom specific.
Given it's been a month and they haven't been interested in getting any further data from me, I'm not overly optimistic that it will be fixed in the next few days, but I'd love to be proved wrong.

Oh I hear ya man. I'm just not sure what else to tell ya, sorry man.
Keep crossing your fingers and hoping for the best. You've done your part as a customer by contacting them and letting them know the problem, and they seemed to have identified the issue now. So I'd say you're in better shape than you previously were at the beginning.
The latest step in bringing Google-based unification has arrived. The Chrome browser is here on Android. This beta version is currently only available for that elite crowd of ICS phones and tablets and like its desktop progenitor, the synced settings and bookmarks are all in tow. Expect to see a new, more natural mobile view of the tab system. It'll also remember what you were last looking at on your desktop Chrome browser, and sync it across to your mobile device -- it's like Kindle or iBook's bookmarking system, but for the web. Your autocorrect content from the desktop is similarly synced. Expect to see the reappearance of link previews, something you may recall from the results of any Google searches, offering a brief thumbnail of a link's destination. We're giving it a good play-around right now, but while we get our first impression up, check the quick intro video after the break.
dont think we can get it on the note yet, but will be able to use it when they release the ICS

It works just fine with the CM9 alpha build of ICS. Just FYI.
What is up with Adobe though? I thought Apple wanted to kill Flash, but it turns out Adobe hates themselves too.

May I ask how did you get to work?
The problem is when I choose to "open in new tab"I can not go to the new tab, it freezes and crashes every time..
Another user also said the same thing in the CM9 thread..
Thanks in advance

I've got the same problem... It seems like it would be ROM related, I saw a comment on Market from an HTC Desire user that complained about choppy performance but at least it seemed to run on that phone.
I would be really thankful if anyone managed to figure out and/or fix the problem! (if it is not ROM related)
Hi I have the Jeppesen TC app for viewing airport approach charts. It used to work on the Prime and it actually works on the Infinity as I can access the demo charts, the problem is I think it is not optimized to the full hd Infinity screen and it doesn’t display the registration screen properly I can see only the name’s field but not the serial number or the enter button so I can’t use the program (also the text on this screen is not aligned)…. Anyone knows a workaround for the display compatibility; I know the iPad has something for that what about Android. Cheers

Contact the devs of the app, dont just leave a negitive comment, look for an email address and explain to them how you bought their app but its not working on the HD screen of the infinity. They can tweak it to work on HD screens.
If that fails you might try those apps which let you change the pixel density (theres a bunch of em) its like changing the resolution on your computer. Even tho you have a 1080P screen sometimes you might want it reduced just so you can read the text, like if your using a TV as your monitor. Give it a try, maybe that will work for ya.
ave contacted them but the didn't show much of an interest in fixing it, but who knows (by the way I cant be rooted or the app wont install/run)... Any app name for that resolution change? Also I am experiencing a weird ghost tocuh on (one finger makes pinch zoom) on the ezPDF reader, I don't know if it is my screen or the app since I don't see that hapen in any other app.... anyone about that too?

I stopped using it, as it was too slow, apart from that everything seemed to be working fine, but try RepliGo. It's the fastest, just doesn't hide the status bar. If you don't need to annotate, Solo PDF is pretty fast and works well on the Infinity, if you mean to make and save notes, iAnnotate PDF (free) could be a reasonable alternative to RepliGo (paid). You can have a look at the apps sticky thread with the discussion.

Hello,
Exactly the same here... Unable to enter activation code on jeppesen tc registration box. Seems to be a resolution problem. Did anyone try changing the tf700t resolution yet? I also emailed jeppesen support and have been in touch with them but their only answer is tc hasn't been tested on the tf700t.
I was thinking on installing another rom as jeppesen tc is a no-go for me. This is the only reason keeping me from getting rid of my ipad right now.
Hi, I have contacted jepp support but no help was provided, they said that the app was tested on the Samsung Galaxy and they don’t guarantee it will work on other devices... After some insistence from me the guy said he would take that issue to the dev team, but I don’t think he cared about it....
My work around was to use the keyboard dock... I entered my name pressed arrow key down, then entered my serial number pressed arrow key down then right then hit enter.... It worked.. Also no changing res since you will need to root and the app does't work on rooted devices (tested) also it won't run on other room than stock (tested)...

Thanks Nanias,
I don't have the dock, but if it is a workaround then I'll go ahead and buy it. Is everything else working ok after activation? Or have you noticed any additional issues? I think I saw some other menus not displaying properly....
I talked to the DEV team and this is what they replied:
Hello Alberto,
Your service request has been escalated to me in Tier 2 support. Unfortunately, we cannot test all Android tablets, that being said, we need all the feedback that we can get. Currently, Jeppesen supports Samsung tablets. The project manager is now aware of this issue with your model table and we will attempt to resolve it in a future release.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks.

Good to hear at least to you they said something, I hope they fix it. Also I haven't seen any other issue when using the app, only thing is that I think my touchscreen is not perfect and sometimes it doesn't interpret my touches accordingly, one finger it pinches zoom, pinching zoom flickers and instead of zooming in it zooms out, but I have this issue with the pdf reader I said on the OP, so I think it is my tab…
I have the same problem with the login screen of the Financial Times app (ft.com), I contacted support and now all that's left to do is wait for their devs to fix it. Another option if you have another android device and if you're rooted is to export the app+data from a device where you're able to log in and then import it into the tablet.
I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this with the new JB update.
I have encountered a bug where pressing the back button opens up Google Now.
This only happens when the homescreen is locked in landscape, and I press the back button to exit an app that is in portrait mode. Instead of returning to the home screen, it first exits the app then returns to... Google Now!
Example occurrences are:
1) Stock Launcher, Auto-Rotate screen Off. Using an application that is auto-locked in portrait mode (games, for example). Pressing back button quits the portrait mode application and opens Google Now.
2) Apex Launcher, Screen Orientation set to Always Landscape. Browsing the web in portrait mode, and pressing the back button quits the portrait mode application and opens Google Now.
Does anyone else have this issue?
I've noticed it when having Apex as a launcher as well. With the sale going on the past few days I bought Nova Premium, and I haven't been seeing it since (or at least not so clearly it is standing out in my mind).
PS: I'm still having to look around for kicking Google Now out -- it doesn't provide any useful information, and I don't see it 'learning' how to in the future.

You are wrong about Google Now. It's probably the greatest feature to differentiate between JB and ICS! Google Now is working well on my tf700.

Mainly I used to search for stuff on the web. Instead of open the browser, wait for it to lauch then type in the search item, I just talk to it! Once you get used to Google now, it's very convenience!

This may be your opinion -- I am entitled to my own, however, and that runs contrary -- as a European, non-sports-watching--loving guy (I like *performing* sports), I have next to no use for Now. I have widgets that provide my agenda, and I can do without constantly-on location features -- I do not need driving directions to the train station when I'm cycling for groceries, thank you.
Congratulations on having it work to your liking.

Mainly I used to search for stuff on the web. Instead of open the browser, wait for it to lauch then type in the search item, I just talk to it! Once you get used to Google now, it's very convenience!

The Dutch voice recognition is utter p00p. I absolutely reject having to direct any app in English, especially since I'm always docked and that works better on a train commute with a lot of co-passengers making all kinds of noises.

I will take a look at the list, but I've taken the tour before and I found nothing of much use. Can't hurt to be up to date, though, so thanks for the link!
(I use several optimized apps for the tasks you referenced and I do not see Now outperforming them, neither convenience-wise nor raw-performance-wise. But I may be mistaken.)

What do you/people actually use Google Now for?

I'm still in exploring the functions of Google Now. So far the cards are pretty neat; they show me the scheduled bus times at the nearest bus stop which helps. Also shows me how to get home by public transit. Weather is always useful as well.
I disabled the Nearby Places cards... because they were showing me things im not interested in, like the local smoke shop... Wish there was a way to remove/flag unwanted content

One neat thing about Google Now is the more you're using it, it will know what you're looking for and provide those information upfront for you. Ex, if you search for train schedule from A citi to B city, next time it will display these train schedule info for you upfront.

I see your point, but it's more powerful than you think. It will learn what you're looking for and provide these information upfront without you have to search for them. After it learned your behavior, it knows you always check the weather in the morning, then you drive to work. Next time, it will show you the weather and any traffic jams from your house to work etc...without you have to search!
I get all the time if I hold and drag my finger a little. what its doing is showing the lock screen ring. happens that Google launch is default for top location of lock screen so that's what opens. might be handy if you have app you switch to all the time. replace Google with whatever in lock screen settings. opps I cannot find settings. good to check sometimes.
