[Q] for those with keyboard lag - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Use a different keyboard and see if its any better when you are docked. I got my dock and am not having the lag/disconnect issues you guys where talking about. I wonder if the issue is that the asus keyboard uses more memory and the system closes it out once in a while causing all sorts of keyboard issues.
I recommend "thumboard" its freaking awesome for tablets.
Thank me if you love me.

[Q] Laggy onscreen keyboard

Hi, I got my TF yesterday and it seems an OK device. Have some nagging problems with it though. It is laggy and becomes slow, as I use it for a few hours. One of the biggest problem is the laggy onscreen keyboard, both the Asus and Android one, specially in the default browser and firefox. Is it only me or anyone else facing the same issue ?
P.S: I haven't updated to the latest firmware. Any idea if that would fix the issue ?
It is not keyboard problem imho, it is overall responsiveness of touch digitizer. Try to keep fingers on the screeen a little bit longer.
I've not had this problem with the stock honeycomb keyboard. The Asus on screen keyboard sucked ass though, that was an understatement.
I did switch to the "Tablet Keyboard free" app from the market for on-screen typing. Pretty funky to get used to but once you've got it, you've got it. I like it alot. But with my dock here now, I dont really type much with the on-screen keyboard. The dock kicks ass.
the asus onscreen keyboard does lag... the android stock one is a lot better though.

+1, though android keyboard suffers from weird touch sensitivity too it does not freezes for seconds trying to find words in vocabulary.
Though I do not see why two 1 ghz cores are unable to handle it.

[Q] Hardware issue are mainly in TF101-A1 or TF101-B1 ??

Hi .
New to this community .
I am about to order the TF .
After reading all the issues with screen bleeding , speakers and etc it make me wounder .
Have you noticed those issue on both the A model and the B .
It is interesting to see if they made in the same assembly line and if they are exactly the same and the additional ram is just another module installed ( NOT SOLDED ) on the motherboard .
Any other thoughts or comments will be welcome
To be honest, I don't think hardware issues are nearly as widespread as you make them out to be. I have a perfect device as far as I'm concerned. No speaker issues, no forces closes, no "sleep of death". The problem with forums is you only hear from the people who have had issues really. I wouldn't be so worried about it. I have a 32gb model, the B1, for the sake of this thread.
I also don't think there's any difference in RAM at all, just hard drive space
My 32GB Transformer and keyboard dock works great. I have none of the problems alluded to. Yes, you usually only hear about the problems, rarely from those who's stuff just works.
Bye.
My 16GB TF with dock works great, too!
The additional storage space 16G vs 32G is a soldered in surface mount module and not considered user upgradable, unless you have surface mount equipment.
I have the 32gb, and it works very well. I've had the "sleep of death" a couple of times in 4 days, but it's really not as bad as it sounds, you push the power button a little longer and that's it. Otherwise, some areas on the screen are less sensitive, and some apps are buggy. Bottom line? Wonderful device, great dock too, plugged a usb mouse and worked fine, even the mouse wheel is working. I'm pretty sure most of the little software annoyances will be fixed with hc 3.1.

Keyboard issues?

Hey, so is anyone having some accuracy problems with their keyboards? Like, if the keys are on the same row and I type too fast, I'll get a random jumble of mess, regardless of what keyboard I have (though it does help when I use keyboards with larger keys).
I know previously we learned that the phone only detects two points of touch and had some weird issue when they crossed. Could this be the problem? Is it able to be remedied with a custom ROM?
I downloaded smartkeyboard, totally worth the $3. Not only can you disable multitouch if it'c causing problems, you can calibrate it to recognize your keypresses better.
Get the lite version and see if that helps.
Swype solved this for me

I use SwiftKey, and I have trained myself to type slower and let their amazing predictions (not just the word you are typing, but the next one too) work for me.
Same thing happens to me, but I believe it's because the Triumph either can't recognized that many multi-touch presses, or it can recognize it but can't keep up, If that makes sense . Also, when I use a multi-touch testing application from the market, and I press simultaneously close to a perpendicular or parallel axis, the phone will not accurately respond :/
Just had the strangest realization. I stopped typing with my thumbs, and started using my index fingers. It has made all the difference. Seriously, try it and tell me it's not just me.

Already have it, and yeah, it's helped considerably, but the issue's still there.
i have swype and it works great...
Yes, I'm having the same problem. I posted about it in the general issues thread. I described it as randomly firing its own commands, but you describe it better. ;-) Only other thing is that mine also toggles the keyboard back and forth, puts it up, takes it off, puts it up, takes it off, etc, while it's doing this keyboard thing. With a 1Ghz processor, this shouldn't be happening. The keyboards that came with it are ridiculous. I installed a few different ones. I am using the gingerbread one, but that doesn't solve the touch problems that were designed into this ROM. It's more like just a skin over their code. Does that make sense? To answer your question, I'm not an expert, but I do believe a custom ROM will solve this issue, so I'm waiting on their release as well. Keep me posted if anyone finds a fix to this issue. Thanks.
I installed the free GO Keyboard, and it is working much better for me.
It's not a keyboard issue, it's a multi touch issue, hopefully motorola pushes some kind of update.

Crazy Screen Lag when docked, perfect without...

I was ready to return my Transformer. The lag was unbearable (for a brand new device), it would stutter, even some videos of mine would flicker. I use the dock a lot, and was ready to give up. I undocked it - and all is right with the world again. Same videos (off micro-sd card) that were previously stuttering are now playing beautifully.
I was scared that it might be a hardware error, but I know now that this is something someone can fix! Does anyone else have the same issues? I love the dock, and bought it for increased functionality, and would LIKE to use it as a mini-laptop a lot.
Just curious.
Thanks.

I've noticed this on the desktop screen and in the apps and widgets list, but in my case it was connected to either using touchpad or USB mouse. In this case changing the launcher from stock to custom (like Apex) helps, but I'm not sure this is your case (hope it is, but I haven't noticed any lag when docked and playing videos)

Lucky. What "mode" are you in when docked? And you running full IPS? (Or 'auto'?) I have no idea what it could be. It's not soo terrible that it's unusable, but it's definitely noticeable and annoying even for simple operations. I keep the system clean, not much running in the background. I'm confused - but hoping that future ROM's will optimize the I/O (if that's the cause) when docked.
Thanks.

I barely use IPS+, normally I use it indoors at about 30% (regular IPS mode), but I doubt it's the real issue. Try a different dock maybe (as I suppose you're on .26 firmware already). Not much else we can do remotely, try different dock, try different tablet, update firmware when possible, factory wipe if nothing else helps, or simply send it back. You should be able to watch the movies the same way when docked and when not, so if there is a significant disproportion between these two, I'd consider returning this unit (bundle).

Well...damn. Looks like I might RMA the unit then, and get a new one. Sucks. Been waiting for this device for months! I even did a reset last night, and started from scratch - and still the same result. I was hoping it was a 'common' problem.

OP are you experiencing this problem on your Infinity after operating it after a cold boot up with the keyboard dock attached, or is your tablet already on and you attach it the dock keyboard and experience this issue?
I think I've seen this issue sparringly in my case, attaching it to the dock while on, but not often because I always keep my tablet docked. In most cases this did not occur when I would re-docked with minimum programs running on the Infinity.

I actually haven't tried starting it up without the dock attached (as I just realized what was going on last night) - will try that and report back in a few hours. Thanks for the suggestion!

So, I tried a cold boot and plugged the dock in, seemed fine at first, then started getting laggy again. So, I noticed that whenever I put the dock in, you get the message about using the standard keyboard that matches the ASUS hardware keyboard. (I had Swype enabled.) So, that got me thinking Swype could be a problem. I never knew if it was optimized for tablets, or whatever. So, I disabled Swype, and two other software keyboards just for the purpose of troubleshooting (SlideIT Keyboard and SwiftKey) and am just using the stock keyboards pre-installed.
After disabling those keyboards - for now, the lag seems to have been considerably less noticeable. Of course this is all anecdotal and I don't have any true measurements or stats run to determine anything concrete.
Thanks for the suggestions!

I noticed the same issue when I docked mine. I don't dock mine that often though. This was not an issue with the prime. Wonder if part of it is the resolution.

[Q] Note 10.1 + Bluetooth Keyboard&Mouse

Hello!
I have one question that I could not find answer on internet. I have note 10.1 and have been using BT keyboard - Canyon, and it has been working flawless with a bit disconnect here and there. But recently I have bought BT Mouse - HP and it works just great. But when they are both connected at same time they both misbehave a lot. If I use mouse my keyboard just dc and it won't respond unless I hit few keys and sometimes keyboard lags/button stuck like "dddddddd...." untill my mouse dc. When my mouse dc keyboard is fine once again and this apply to vise versa but with mouse it is not responded well like move around for 2s late...
So now my question is if there is any program or script that will help with this situation? I know tablets aren't made to be used as PC but on college my battery last for like 9-10 hours while others with laptops cant get 3-5 hours full writting. I can even play games and my battery wont be below 30% when I get home. I have rooted ofc and I am using android revolution HD 9.0 since it is most polished. I dont wanna go to other android stock roms cuzz s-pen does not work well. I do not use pen often but heck, if I have it I want it to work perfect.
I hope someone had similiar situation and had it fixed.
Cheers
I have the same problem. I did not find a solution to bluetooth interference either... so I am thinking to move to usb based keyboard and mouse for better user experience.

Yeq but i want BT i was checking utube for some tips. All i have got is that some brands dont have problem. Most problem cause microsoft products with android on other hand ms mouse is better...so yeah hope someone can help.
Cheers
I have found a way to help it. I bought external keyboard helper for 2€ and it works amazing now. I have also tryed Null keyboard which is free and it basicly just hides ur onscreen eyboard from appearing. Guess this was the problem.
I hope someone will also fix their issue with this 2 apps. Cheers
It's those devices. I have several BT Keyboards and Mice and they work perfectly together. There's no app that can really do anything about stuttering mice or duplicate letters, as the issue is in the RF layer of the BT protocol.
