[Q] Can't get into recovery...only in Hboot - HTC Inspire 4G

So I am at work and decided to flash UV script which did not work for me. I have nandroid backup. But at the same time I have the P98IMG.zip file in the root of SD card. Whenever I press Vol Down and Power , it goes into HBoot all the time. It happens so fast that I cannot press power or volume keys to go into recovery mode . I have a USB cable but no microSD adapter. Also cannot access SD card through root explorer as phone freezes when it is booted up.
Any way to go into recovery ?

Take out sd card press volume down and power it will search for the PD98IMG file and wont find. Click recovery then put sd card in

[Q] Big Help Please

I did a full wipe and i forgot to put in a CUSTOM ROM in the SD CARD..
what do I do!??! help
Don't quote me on this, but you should be able to put your SDcard in a card reader and put it on your card as PD98IMG.zip and Hboot will flash it.

Download the custom rom and place it on the sd card. Boot into recovery, do a full wipe, install custom rom.

This is true. I softbricked mine the other night pulling fonts around. Pull your sd card out and go to hboot. (you could leave it in if you DO NOT have a pd98img on your card) then reinstall after you get to recovery. As posted above you should still have your original rom on your sd card flash this if you don't have a cardreader. Good Luck!
where can I get this pd189.img
Download the ROM you want to your computer and rename it exactly to PD98IMG.zip and copy it to the root of your SDCARD. Hboot will automatically install it.

its easier to just put the rom on your sd card and boot into recovery..... Did you not make a nandroid back up? If you didn't then maybe that is something you might want to start making a habit of...
Get into recovery from hboot. There is an option in there to enable usb and you can use it like an flash drive like in android. Here are the steps.
1) boot into hboot (volume down then power button)
2) use the volume rocker to go to recovery
3) in recover scroll down to mounts and storage
4) scroll down to mount usb storage
This should allow you to view your sd card like u do in android when u select usb mode. From here you can put your rom on unmount and install. Good luck hope this helps.

why don't you just take the sdcard out, put into your computer/laptop and delete that file ?
Or take out the SD, boot into hboot, then recovery and delete the file.

I'd probably go with this route. But simply using common sense.. why can't you just take out your sd card and boot up your phone? You could probably wait until the phone is ready to go when it loads up OR insert the sd again while it's on the loading screens.. can you not do that?
I could be wrong, and someone correct me if I am! But I don't recall a phone requiring the sd card to boot up

Try installing Rom Manager and from there Flash Clockworkmod recovery.
Or using adb reboot recovery?
Can't install rom manager cuz I don't have root.
Any help please?
Copy the attached file to your SD card and flash it via HBOOT. It will flash 4EXT to your phone. Remember to delete the file once done
I LOVE YOU!
Works well, thank you.
You can lock the post.

How can i copy it to my sd card?
You need a application called es file explorer or similar and you go into downloads from the es file explorer then find the file you just downloaded and long press on it. A menu will pop up. Press move to, then it will say sd card on the top and other files in the middle. Just press ok in that menu and it should move the file from your downloads directly to your sd card . From there you can get into bootloader by pulling battery, put back in, press volume and power at the same time. Because the file is a pg58img file the device will recognize it and ask to continue update, press power for yes. Let it update. When your finished please remember to DELETE the file or the bootloader will continue to update it over and over. Hope this helps. Best wishes

The same way you'd copy music or pictures to your SD. Just make sure the zip posted above is not in any folders on your SD card.

Unbootable phone

Hi,
I just tried to update the radio on my phone, and now it is stuck on boot. I am shown a white screen with the htc logo.
I have tried to go into the recovery menu, but as the radio is located on the SD card it automatically tries to reinstall, and doesn't allow me to reformat or otherwise. How am I able to get out of this?
I don't have any access to the SD card otherwise to delete the file!
adb reboot recovery
I hope you enabled USB debugging...
If not, you need a SD card reader or a second phone to delete the zip from the SD-card

I don't seem to have adb access when I turn it on. I did however remove the SD card from the slot, and perform a factory reset / clear. Now boots up, however the radio doesn't work.
So people are aware, if you're using Reaper, don't update the radio to the ICS version! Otherwise I assume you will be in the same pickle I am in.

first get back the phone to working condition
to do that
try the troubleshoot point #4 from my soff guide ..link in my signature
then flash 4EXT recovery if you are not having it.
then go to recovery ..connect the phone to PC ..and mount usb storage in recovery ..you'll get a pop up in PC asking for formatting the sdcard ..do the format and its done
or you can try sd formatter ..its a pretty good tool in formatting sdcard
I panicked for a minute too.
Forgot to take out my 32GB SD card.
Wouldn't format in the SD slot of my laptop.
Did the above suggestion and all good!
Thanks
You can format SD card through 4extra recovery. Here's how I did mine. Pull battery put battery back in press volume down and power at same time, choose recovery, then in recovery choose format SD card, it will ask are you sure, choose yes. However if you format you must back up the information of on the card to your computer because format will wipe the card of all data. Once formatted you can restore your data you saved from the computer.hope this helps. Best wishes
