Hi
Is there a way or an app to show the subject and possibly the first line of the email in the notifications rather than just saying 1 new email.
I use touchdown for exchange integration, it's a bit expensive but i find it's worth the cost.
It does show the subject line of the e-mail in the notification bar.
Stock should do it unless you have multiple gmail accounts.

Heres an interesting one for you, I have had the issue for a few months now and I've never bothered to fix it as I have always been telling myself ill flash a new Rom some day and that will fix it.
Anyway, the email tab in manilla has lost my exchange account. syncs, works fine, but its just not a selectable mailbox in manilla.. strangley however, if an unread email pops into my exchange account manilla adds the unread message count on the tab at the bottom, there is just no icon on the right to pick the exhange account anymore.
IE right now I have 16 un-read emails (icon on the bottom) when I goto the mail tab i see my IMAP account on the right and the most recent message from my imap account is displayed, no unread messages and compose new message.
I think from memory i was playing around with other accounts when this happened, I've tried adding other accounts, they all get a new tab.
Does anyone know if this info is stored in the registry or any fix for this?
Hey All,
I've got a question about email notifications for MS Exchange accounts. I'm running the latest version of Cyanogen's Mod on a Nexus one. I see that when I receive a message on my Gmail account the notification displays the sender and subject line, but when I get a message on my MS Exchange account I only see "Unread Message." Wondering if it would be possible to have this notification display Sender and Subject just as the Gmail one does.
Figured this was the best place to ask around, if there's an answer out there it would be here.
Hey guys, in the default Android e-mail application (between phone and browser on the home screen), I have two accounts listed: one for my Yahoo mail and the the other through my FSU school email account (non-outlook). When I receive a new Yahoo mail, I'll see an entry for it on the notification bar and I'll go and check it out. Not so with my school email account. I simply don't get notifications when I receive a new email into that account. Is there a way to change is?
I don't care about syncing things with gmail or any of that stuff. I just want to receive a notification that I have new FSU mail like I do when I have a new Yahoo mail. Thanks!
Justin
Is the account set up to check regularly or manually? POP or IMAP?
Hi,
Is there any application or service that can forward "email" to Android as notification or some kind of alert?
I know that GMAIL can do push notification, but I am looking for alternative.
Here is the situation, I have several home security IP camera that can send alert to my email address. I am thinking to be able to receive this alert into my Android phone (Nexus S), instantly.
As I said, Android users can use GMAIL for email push. But, problem with GMAIL, it will push "all emails". I don't want to receive push notifications for any emails. Also the fact that I have several gmail emails setup on my phone.
So, I am thinking if there is a service or apps or anything that can push email or alert.
There is another option to send the email alert to "email to SMS gateway". But, my phone provider does not have this feature. And I don't know which 3rd party service can be used.
Thanks.
yahoo mail also have push mail notification, Search 'Mail' on market you will get it. My experience is yahoo works better with android 2.3 n up, with froyo n eclair not satisfactory
Using K9 as email-app allows push for e.g. GMX (free, not paid). It works through "Imap Idle" most of the time quite good for me
You only have to manually configure the servers.
I know that Gmail app permits to have different notifications for different email folders (labels) so that for example I can decide to be notified for every mail, except for the ones from Groupon that go in the 'Groupon' label.
I'd like to know if there is a way to obtain the same result (I want to get sound notifications only for emails that come from some people) with other email apps different than Gmail.
With Android Email it doesn't seem to be possible, it's a notify all or nothing. The same is for Outlook.com and for Yahoo Mail.
Do you know if any app other than Gmail has this option? Am I doing something wrong?
