Heres an interesting one for you, I have had the issue for a few months now and I've never bothered to fix it as I have always been telling myself ill flash a new Rom some day and that will fix it.
Anyway, the email tab in manilla has lost my exchange account. syncs, works fine, but its just not a selectable mailbox in manilla.. strangley however, if an unread email pops into my exchange account manilla adds the unread message count on the tab at the bottom, there is just no icon on the right to pick the exhange account anymore.
IE right now I have 16 un-read emails (icon on the bottom) when I goto the mail tab i see my IMAP account on the right and the most recent message from my imap account is displayed, no unread messages and compose new message.
I think from memory i was playing around with other accounts when this happened, I've tried adding other accounts, they all get a new tab.
Does anyone know if this info is stored in the registry or any fix for this?

Is anyone familiar with problems with Gmail? (gmail account under messaging)
Last week I added my gmail account to WM6 Messaging, which worked fine.
Today I wanted to do a clean install and removed my google account from messaging. But when adding my gmail account again, it does not show any emails anymore in my gmail inbox folder.
It is logging on and checking the email headers, when clicking on send/receive. I also am able to send email from my universal
I have the "WM6PRO_Business_AKU_0.7" from Laurentius&Beast installed (WM6PROBUSSINESSVC_V3)
Is there a way to "really" clean my universal (ie clean cache, folders, etc) I cannot find the folders where this emails are stored
If you are able to receive new e-mail messages on your device, your "problem" has to do with your Gmail account settings. Send a test message to yourself from another address and see if you can receive it. If you do receive it and you are certain that you want to download again all of your previous messages, login to your Gmail account, go to Settings -> Forwarding and POP and select "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)".
Most likely that should get you back your inbox (unless you had opted to delete downloaded messages after a certain period).

When changing gmail settings to POP for all mail, it starts checking, then it receives a few old messages, which also shows up in my inbox. But when it finish send/receive, the messages disappear again. It also does not receive/show new messages.
Is there a way to clear messaging cache/setting completely (i have tried deleting my gmail account several times)
OK, I created a new Gmail account and did some tests. These are my findings:
1) In Gmail's POP settings if you set it to keep a copy of the downloaded message in your inbox, your messages never get deleted on the WM6 mail client.
2) If you set it to archive downloaded messages, all mail that has been moved from inbox to the archives gets deleted on the Universal.
3) If you set the mail client to download only a part of the message (say 2K), messages that are above that limit don't get archived (probably because they are never completely downloaded).
4) Any messages that were below the specified size to be downloaded, stayed in my device's inbox, even after they were archived in Gmail.
I suppose that if you want to be able to see all your messages on your Universal you should move them from the archives to your Gmail's inbox, set Gmail to keep downloaded messages in its inbox and re-enable the POP setting for all mail.
Try that and tell us how it goes.
I just tried it with a other gmail account, which works perfectly on my universal.
Also with a pop client on my pc (on same network) receives messages and shows them.
Messages that were download were not archived (gmail is setup to keep an email copy in the inbox). They were still visible in gmail webmail. I'f tried several settings, but no improvement on my universal :-(
When clicking on the send/receive button, it displays "checking message [number]/362" So it looks to me the device thinks it already has the messages in his inbox. But the device also does also not see new messages.
Just a thought:
In my test account I had about 30 e-mails, varying in size from 1KB to 12MB. The first time I pressed the "Send/Receive" button, "checking message 1/30" was displayed for quite some time until it started downloading messages. Same thing when I deleted some messages and added some new ones: "checking message 8/17" was displayed for about two minutes before it actually downloaded something.
Perhaps the number and size of e-mail messages you have is overwhelming to the device and it needs a lot of time to process them?

Hi there,
I had the same "problem" some time back.
Through google I found that all mail that has been downloaded ones by a mobile or maybe even by pop method, this mail will NEVER again be send when trying to download, even when your device is renamed etc. or even another device.
I did find one "sollution"
When you add recent before your email accountname, like "recent:[email protected]" you will ALWAYS receive the last 30days of history of emails.
(also handy, if you use more than one mobile device and or pop mail program, because you will always receive your mail on both !)
greetings,
Wout

Ok, thanks I will try that. (When setting up the gmail account again, it automaticcaly says the "recent" accountname. Untill now I just removed the it
Just tried it, and it works. Thanks all for your help!
All,
My email icon always shows 1 unread email (along the bottom) even though I don't have any emails. When I do have unread emails it's always showing 1 more than the actual (the small unread email icon always shows the correct number of unread emails). This is weird.
I've tried a hard reset many times.
Would appreciate any help in solving this.
Thanks
Alex
[Update] Fixed it. Thanks Mallman for the suggestion. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. It did however give me the idea to search the registry for all Unread keys and change the 1's to 0's.
Download this:
http://www.swampthing.net/FixUnreadCount.exe
and run it from your device. Worked for me when I had the same problem. I can't rememebr if i needed a soft reset or not.
the link is dead. other links available?
A soft reset is in order for this fix
Go to your inbox of your mail account then slide sideways to reveal the unused mail account (the outlook one i think) that has the welcome message in it that should be the cause of your issue. This happened to me.

So actually i have the same problem too. The main mail counter stucked for me as well on 4 unread mails Is there any solution yet?
if you go to touchflow > email > inbox (bottom left) > inbox (upper left) > expand/scroll to the folder that has the unread email > open/delete the email
that should help
somehow it solved. I don't know how, becouse i've tried almost everything without any success...
solve!
Had 1 unread mail in my outlook account (I use GMAIL)...

Same here.
Fixunreadcount.exe didn't work for me cause the unread count was correct, there was an extra unread email hidden in the outlook inbox even though I did not setup an outlook account. Marked it as read and unread count was fixed!
Worked great for me - thanks! Stupid hidden Outlook email account...
worked!

Thanks man -- I feel dumb, but it worked like a charm.
Have an exchange account set up and also a Gmail IMAP account setup. Both have been working fine since Friday when I got the phone and flashed to NATF 1.1.
I rebooted my phone this morning following a Advance Config change to turn off Assisted GPS and now from the TF3D mail page, I can see my Gmail account, flip thru the messages there, but I can't open them or go to my inbox. Pressing inbox sends me to the account picker which only displays Messages and Exchange. If I'm in my Exchange inbox and flick to the next account, I can get to messages but not Gmail. If I try to add a new account named Gmail, it refuses since there is an account already by that name.
Is there any way to recover or delete Gmail without it appearing in the Account list?

You might have better luck posting this in the Question and Answers forum. It's a general question that applies across devices, so you will get more eyes on it there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441333
I just added another Gmail2 account. It's annoying to have 3 accounts on the TF3D, but I'll probably flash something else in a couple days anyway, so why bother?
Thanks for the tip though.
So I somehow ended up with an extra email account icon (the little envelopes on the right) on the Mail homescreen of my Fuze. There is no actual account for it. If I click on it it says "no messages" and if I click on Inbox, it takes me to the page that shows the different accounts (where there is no extra account). Any ideas on how I could get rid of this icon? Anyone else ever experience this? I would post a screen capture but I'm a bit of a noob around these here parts. I've tried going into the accounts settings, but again, there are only 2 e-mail accounts and I have three envelope icons on the Mail homescreen. Thanks for any suggestions/ideas.
Did you set up an email account on your fuze? Did you also set up windows mobile device center (or equiv) to sync email account (outlook)? I did, and had the same thing going you describe. My solution was to remove one of those.
did you activate msn?
it normally sets up hotmail account automatically.
Thanks for the replies. I did set up 2 email accounts, which both show up and work fine. It's just that there is a 3rd envelope icon that is not linked to any account, apparently. It's not an outlook account from Mobile Device Center, either, checked that (I have email unchecked). Also, I did not set up MSN. Hmmm...
I have several accounts set up on my phone, all send and receive ok, but when I open up any of the accounts (except the exchange account) they only show unread mail. Any other mail in the inbox is not visible, although when on my computer outlook displays all inbox mail. Only had the phone a few days and cannot see what I settings I need to change, cannot find any threads relating to this.
It's a pain because I cannot lookup previous emails for info. etc.
Thanks in advance if anyone can point me in the right direction
IMAP vs POP
I am assuming that you have your outlook set up to access your email account using POP which causes Outlook to physically download and remove the data from the server. If you change your Outlook settings to use IMAP instead then the data will live on the server and you can access it from your computer, your phone, another computer using web-access etc.
To get this set up you can search the web for IMAP directions for your specific provider and outlook along with your phone.
Hope this helps.
Bob
Try to increase the sync duration for the seperate accounts. Are you going to individual accounts or trying to look at it from the combined view. Removing the account and adding back might help too.
Thanks for the replies, I had worked around the problem by forwarding any email from the 2 problem accounts to gmail. However they are POP accounts so will try altering to IMAP to see if that cures the problem.
Thanks again
