has anyone tried using gameboid or gbcoid on the transformer?
does it run at full speed or faster well?
does it support the keyboard dock for hardware controls?
works fine. And yes it does.
Gameboid worked pretty well on mine with the touchscreen controls. I had to RMA it, or I would check to see if it supports the keyboard. If it supports QWERTY phones, one would think it can support the keyboard, but I don't know if it does.
It does support keyboard mapping.
alright thanks a bunch. ive been using my nook to play gameboid but i miss hardware key mapping but my mbp cant get through more then 2hours of playtime and endus up at 90+ C while my nook easily powers throught 6 hours
looks like i have another reason to get this tablet

So yesterday I downloaded Nesoid and a handful of ROMs for my Captivate. I had some fun playing them, but using the on screen virtual keyboard was really hard and it covered most of the gaming action. So I see that the new psx4droid supports wiimote. So I emailed the developer of Nesoid and suggested that he add that capability to his too and that other than that its a great emulator. He emailed back and this is his response
You can use other apps on the Market. But please enable input method in Nesoid settings.

What does this actually mean? Is there another app that I have to download and install first to get the wiimote to connect to my phone via bluetooth?
I dont have a wiimote yet, and before I go buy one, I'd like to know exactly how it works, if it will.
Search for "Wiimote controller" on the market, should work.
You can use a few bluetooth gamepads with android. One being
MSI Bluetooth Gamepad (BGP-100) which is a weird kinda swivel thing. I am going to gut a SNES controller and put the BGP-100 into it. It has been done before and everything seems to fit fine.
There is also another bluetooth controller made for blackberry's that works with android. It is vertical gamepad with a trigger control. Seems pretty nice.
I think you have to buy a market app to get the drivers to make the above 2 gamepads work.
Also as mentioned you can use a wiiremote as a gamepad for android. I have been looking for a wii classic controller + wii combo, so it does not have to be tethered to a normal wii controller to work. I want small and portable bluetooth with a dfecent amount of buttons that is why I am going with the SNES form factor.

Free, although it does say there isn't galaxy s support....so it might not work.
wiimotes currently do not work on the SGS phones because of the bt3.0. not sure on the other BT controllers
Are there any controllers that can be plugged in? Just wondering for flights...
Well I emailed the developer of Wiimote Controller and asked if they could update to support Galaxy S phones. This is there response:
Hello,
thank you for your feedback.
I don't think this will be possible with the current way Samsung's software is handling bluetooth.
Best regards,
Piki

Doesnt sound good for us getting to use a wiimote as a gamepad
Trying to play Nesoid with onscreen vitrual controller sucks, its too hard and I'm afraid of breaking my phone. Every time I get into the game and start tapping A or B rapidly I can feel it flex and creak in my hands.
Just wondering in anybody has made progress on getting a bluetooth controller for the captivate/galaxy s?
Ive been looking into it...and came to a bunch of dead ends aswell :sigh:

Please let me know if anyone finds a controller that works.
Thank you,

Speaking of games...
I wasn't able to find any in the market but I'm rooted so I know I can find games from other sources.
Are there any games like Alone in the Dark (horror genre) or fantasy role playing that would have the same type of graphics you'd see in WoW that I can put on my Captivate?
Updated last night. Finally got to play around with it this morning. Plugged PS3 remote into USB port on the dock and fired up FPSE. Mapped all of the hardware keys from the controller in settings and now I am playing all of the PS1 goodness I can handle. Excellent!
what game u r currently playing ? and what version of fpse?
is there a chance to use a bluetooth controller aswell? or other solutions without a dock?
I haven't tried to use Motion in Joy to manully input the bluetooth mac address of my transformer yet as I am at work and motion in joy is installed on my computer at home. I am going to try that tonight and see if maybe they will pair now. I am playing Gran Turismo 2, Bloody Roar 2, Ultimate Doom, Rival Schools with no issues so far. FPSE version 0.10.31
The ps3 remote also works great with most of the other emulators.
So far, i've tested it on my transformer with:
Gensoid
Gearoid
SNesoid
Nesoid
Gameboid
GBCoid
N64oid <- for some reason i couldn't get the c-buttons to map to the right analogue stick properly, may look into this later...

so u are using older version than mine,0.10.48. I alredy tried 2 games : spyro 3 and Valkyrie profile, both have sound problem . I hope someone could test em too. the graphic quality is bad if compared to N64oid emulator, the 3d texture is pixelated, the resolution is also very low, so we can see the jaggy. my question is did I make wrong configuration?
about the game rom file, is it correct they come in several files like .ccd, .img, and .sub when we extract from zip file?
thanks in advance

I've got a master emulator game and controller compatibility thread that's growing. I'll update your findings but please stop there to post any games you have luck with.
When you say PS3 remote do you mean controller? It's wired right?
any chance we can get a step by step how you setup the ps3 controller to fpse...

Sure. Plug the PS3 controller in with USB to the dock (obviously). Fire up FPSE and choose your game. Go into the options/settings (for FPSE) and select input. Change Bluetooth pad port 1 to BGP100. Then on touchscreen I turn off the skins for the onscreen controls. This is optional but why have them on screen when you are playing with a controller. Then hit the hardware keys option. Tap the screen for each key then touch the corresponding key on the controller to assign them. Once all buttons are assigned you're done. You have to do it for every game the first time you play it then it will remember your settings for that particular game.
Also I don't run the game in full screen (someone was talking about the graphics) I run it in 4:3 centered. It looks better that way.
edit: Also didn't get a chance to use motion in joy to manually enter my transformer's BT MAC address into a ps3 controller last night to see if wireless might be an option now.
k thanks, i'll give it a shot
when i get to the part where it says press a key, nothing happens.....any idea what would cause that.
tried a different controller and it worked...weird...both work fine on the ps3.
thanks
oh and do i save within game or do i have to go to the fpse menu to save...keeps asking me to load bios, or do you have to do that each time you setup a new game?

On the system menu after you select a BIOS go down to the bottom and save as default config. You might have to push the home button on the PS3 controller to get it to assign the keys. It wasn't registering my keypresses on the assignment menu so I hit the home key like two times (it ended up registering the first button as home and I had to change it).
Excuse my ignorance but what is fpse?

LINK for you.
Have you tried Final Fantasy 7?
I never beat that game....
How would one go about trying to pair the PS3 controller to the Transformer via Bluetooth? Isn't motion in joy for a PC/Windows?
Thanks
So far I get nothing but FC's and problems with FPSE. Which version are you using and what games seem to work? I have a lot of old PS1 discs but none of the images I've made will load without a FC.
I've been trying to run off the micro sd. Is that a problem?

Hey guys, looks like after the update the 360 controller works now
Great news but what to do with it?
I mean, its great for mapping the controls to emulators but I Want to map it for android games! Like asphalt 6 and NOVA and others!
This would also help us to map wiimotes and other gamepads to other applications and games.
Anyone know how?
anyone? please?
How did you get it to work im still trying

see my other thread
no way to map wiimotes and gamepads to other games other than emulators?
On a side note. I used my standard USB gamepad and it works great. I don't think you need a 360 or PS3 pad specifically.
Just any old USB gamepad. Mine is a Saitek or something. It looks and feels like a PS3. Its too quality of PC gamepads.
I also have a wireless Wii gamepad that works well.
I tested this last night and the controls just work. You can't change the mappings but the buttons function. So Nova and others will work. You also have touch screen for those games if something came up which required touch input.
For emulators with key mapping... you just map ad normal.
For standard android games... they just work.

funny, they dont work for me.
Do you change the input or something for standard android games?
Hello,
I know that the device has gamepad support since 3.1, but only it supports the official PS3/XBox 360 controllers?
Anyone tried with a different gamepad?
Thanks!
I have tried a generic Playstation style controller from Game, and it didnt show up at all, the power light lit up, but the controller didnt work in any games or apps.
I now have an official SixAxis Playstation controller working fine on USB from the dock.
Nice.
A few minutes ago I tried a playstation lookalike controller for 15euros and it did not work. Tried my cousins (almost the same) - and that worked. Strange, it looks like some of them are working, some of them not.
Found this article while browsing Tegra Zone.
http://www.tegrazone.com/news/cutthecord
Might be of interest. I got the exact same gamepad, but I don't have any Tegra Zone games to try it on. Would not work with Nesoid "out of the box". Didn't have the time to test any more at the moment.
Edit: I know the guide uses a Xoom, but don't think that should make big of a difference.
ok, so more and more interesting games are coming out like GTA III but in my oppinion touch-interface controls are completely useless.
As the tf101 has a usb port, you can use usb-gamepads with it - the problem is though that most games do not accept input from the keyboard (the gamepad basically just pushes kb buttons) but only the touchscreen or a few hw buttons
isnt there some way we could "emulate" the touch controls or something in order to use real hgamepads in any game or emu? i know most emus support keyboard input and work with pads, but most games dont.
in many cases steering via the gamepad still works, but the action buttons remain unmapped for most games.
I dunno much about the eeeePad Transformer, but if it will do OTG (on the go) support, you can get an adaptor and a USB gamepad.
Search thru youtube or Amazon for OTG adaptor.

I can't see how this could be implemented all that awesomely, that it would be all that much better for the work. May as well bribe developers to patch in suitable support.
