[Q] 3.1 Update allow USB Tether? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know if the USB hosting functionality in 3.1 will allow me to connect my XOOM (3G model but with no wireless plan), to my rooted Droid Eris via USB so that I can share my Eris data connection with my Xoom via Rooted USB Tether?
My other option I guess would be to root the Xoom and attempt to add ad-hoc wireless support.

No way would it be possible for the number of different RNDIS devices, for it to ever be effective.
Your best bet is to root and get it to support ad-hoc.

[Q] Using D2G as a Wireless USB Adapter?

Basically, I want to have
Desktop Computer -> USB -> D2G -> WiFi(not 3G) -> Internet
on rooted D2G with stock froyo. Cyanogenmod on my myTouch 3G has this tethering option installed by default. But which app should I use for D2G?
Thanks!
Wasn't wireless tether for root users capable of doing this?

not for WiFi access only 3G. With Wireless Tether the WiFi is used as an access point to 3G not another WiFi router.
What he is trying to do is use the Phone as a wireless card for a PC over USB.
I have never seen an app to do that and it really would just be better to go buy a wireless card for the PC, You will get much better data speeds.
I am pretty sure if you connect bluetooth you can tether to wifi connection. Check this out:
This program enables tethering (via wifi and bluetooth) for "rooted" handsets running android (such as the Android DevPhone 1). Clients (your laptop for example) can connect via wifi (ad-hoc mode) or bluetooth and get access to the internet using the 3G, 2G mobile connection or (in case you are using bluetooth) the wifi connection which is established by the handset.

straight from: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
But you are right you need to connect via BT (not USB...), so it may not work for you.

[Q] Bluetooth Tethering on SamChg?

I have an Android Honeycomb Tablet (Asus Transformer), which blocks ad-hoc WiFi connections. So, the Wireless Tethering for Root Users app won't help me for a WiFi connection. Barnacle also seems to do ad-hoc WiFi connections, so no help there.
But, I used to be able to do Bluetooth tethering to the tablet using the Wireless Tethering for Root Users app just fine from my MotoDroid. For some reason, I can't with my SamChg. After pairing the tablet with my SamChg and starting a Bluetooth wireless tether on the SamChg, the Tethering profile doesn't appear on the tablet (it did for the MotoDroid)
Is there a way to do Bluetooth Tethering with the SamChg?
Thanks,

Wireless Tether for root users isn't really ad-hoc. It sets your phone up as a wireless hub and supports multiple connections. So, I am not sure why the wifi is not working for you. I use it with my Xoom through wifi all the time and it is also running honeycomb.

Hi, Kornsaq - I just tried using WT4RU to connect to my laptop, and my SamChg showed up as a computer-computer ad-hoc network.
Are you doing anything special to get an infrastructure connection?

[Q] How do I USB tether (from my phone/PC into) my Xoom

I have a US WIFI-Only Xoom that is rooted and currently running on the CM9 (1/13/12) version of Android 4.0.3 and I would like to be able to deliver Internet to it via USB tethering (my phone will not provide a WIFI signal with data connection for whatever reason, the Xoom never successfully obtains an IP address)...
Can I / How can I get USB tethering into this Xoom?
Thanks,
Tom

[Q] Is it possible to tether the xoom to a non android phone?

My Wifi Xoom recognises my 2 phones - a Palm Centro and a 3 Skype phone and will pair over Bluetooth. But it doesn't want to "connect" to either phone.
Is it possible to use one of the phones as the modem to connect my Xoom to the Internet when there is no wifi available - tethering?
iPhone with iOS 5.1 worked via bluetooth tethering.

[Q] USB Reverse tethering two android phones to have internet access

Hello, I would like to access the internet connectivity on one android phone from another one via usb tether (not wifi/bluetooth). Can usb tethering or reverse tethering enable this? So far I have learned that the android phones can only be tethered to PC's. Also does the special pass-through feature on the HTC One series enable connecting to another phone or tablet?
I have a Galaxy S2 HD LTE SHV-E120S rooted. Would installing Cyanogenmod enable such a function?
