Does anyone know if we can change the key layout on the keyboard dock? I would like to use French-Canada (fr-ca) on it.
Thanks,
Joël.
I am in Toronto, so we should both be getting the same bilingual keyboard, and mine looks (key layout and key names - shift for example) the same as every other QWERTY keyboard.
I hope that helps....and lets hope you actually get one that works, mine doesn't register when I plug it in to the tablet (i assume its a software issues since it charges by itself fine). Whatever you do, ask any tech questions here in the forums, do not, I repeat, DO NOT call Asus tech support...on with them for over an hour yesterday and the first 20 minutes was me trying to explain the the agent what the tablet was. It was a joke.

My keyboard dock is working perfectly - well, at least in terms of the keys not freezing or the touchpad becoming unresponsive. However, I do have one issue with it. Some of the secondary symbols on the keys (such as the @ sign, the hash tag) don't correspond with what appears when you touch it. So, for example, when I press the @ key, I get quotation marks instead, and when I press the hashtag key, I get the backslash sign.
Does anyone have this problem?
Is the @ symbel Shift-2?
Sounds like your keyboard is set to the UK layout. I don't have my TF yet, so I can't tell you exactly where, but change your language/regional settings to the US layout.

Click to collapse
Yep, that was the problem, actually needed to change it from US to UK. Anyhow, appreciate the help..
Hey everyone!
I decided to hand in my transformer to the Asus service centre nearest to me for the battery drain issue, turns out they can't fix it and I need to send it into a bigger service centre for it to be taken care of. (anyways thats another story)
When I got my tablet back, I found that when browsing with my dock in a little black box would pop up to say 'English' (as it does when you turn it on and after a while browsing it pops up 'in Chinese Characters' and every character typed would come out as chinese. This didn't happen at all before.
I dug around a little and found when the keyboard is removed the on-screen keyboard now has an option at the bottom below the keyboard, that turns it into chinese.
And I found it is only when using the Asus keyboard (in settings -> language & input) and when I change it to the Android one it doesn't happen.
I don't like the Android keyboard (also lacks swype) and am much better typing on the Asus keyboard.
Can anyone please help? It is now impossible browsing the web when I have it set to my Asus keyboard as everything comes out in chinese
I'm going to assume you tried a factory reset?
I have an annoying problem with my text input suddenly forcing All CAPS for no apparent reason. I am using the dock and this happens when I don't even have the caps lock button enabled. this sometimes happens if I choose to capitalise a letter using the shift> letter command, after doing this it seems that all text is capitalized. Sometimes I am able to switch off the caps by deleting to the previous sentence where things were normal, but sometimes this won't work.
I'm using SWIFTKEY TABLET X if that makes any difference. Incidentally the capitalisation stated when I typed the capital x just before when I was typing SwiftKey. The capitals would not switch off until I navigated back to some lower case text and typed some stuff, but before returning to where I left off.
Super frustrating and can't seem to resolve it. Not sure if this is a SwiftKey issue or something that others using stock honeycomb keyboard are experiencing?
All help appreciated.
I noticed that same thing. It happens after I come out of sleep. I thought it was the cover resting on the shift key, but it even happens with the dock open.
Pressing the shift key once seems to fix it. I've got a B8O dock with a B5O tablet. The only other non-stock thing I have is WiFi off in sleep. How about you?
Think of the keyboard on the dock as an extension of the software keyboard you are using. In this case, what's probably occurring here is that you're hitting shift twice, and therefore putting the software keyboard into Caps Lock. Just hit shift again to return it to normal. Also, it really is a good idea to switch your keyboard to the stock on when you have the tablet docked.
I doubt I was double shifting (anything like double clutching???), but I'll pay more attention to this.
I was using the standard keyboard. I'll try using the Asus keyboard and see if that resolves the issue.
Anyone still having issues with this?
I am still having the problems, although the shift thing does resolve it a lot of the time.
Shame that ASUS decided to do nothing about this..... REALLY grinds my gears that the vast majority of companies just take the cash and run, and leaving behind a product that could be so much more.
Thankfully we have XDA.
Anyone figured out any way to change the launch buttons on the dock? Since I don't ever use the stock browser this button has become useless.
I got a refurbed keyboard. This is my 3rd replacement through Newegg. The first 2 had different issues but this one is the worst!
When I press the "W" key, it will input as "WR". When I press the "E" key, it will input as "E3". When I press the "S" key, it will input as "SD". etc etc.
It makes it impossible to type efficiently. I checked the firmware on the dock and tablet and its up to date. It's also fully charged. If i switch this dock with another one back to back, the other dock works fine. I also have it set to use the "asus keyboard" in the settings.
Has anyone heard of this and have any fixes? I bought the TF + dock combo back on 4/20/12 and had to exchange the combo right away. The 2nd TF worked fine, but the dock was scuffed w/ paint missing, now this 3rd dock is having input problems. Newegg has been a good sport about exchanging but I just want to be able to use my new baby.
You have another dock that works fine? then it's definitely not software. If any dock you put in glitches out, check the keymappings. Otherwise.. you may need to exchange again.
Hello world,
(I really hope this is the correct section)
I recently bought an Oyama OY661 for use with my Android tablet and was disappointed to find out none of the special keys (shift, ctrl, alt) worked with it. Using a key test app I noticed that while for my fullsize USB keyboard it showed e.g. meta_shift_on|meta_shift_left_on along with 'a' when pressing shift-a, obviously, for the bt keyboard it just showed the letter, while showing the shift code when pressed alone (so I knew the keys themselves were working, just not combining them). Without giving it any second thought I returned it as incompatible and got a Rapoo E6300 instead, as I saw it had all-around great reviews.
I now regret that decision. The keyboard is the same size as the onscreen one, but with all the keys crammed together, it's actually even more uncomfortable go use. The battery is built-in, meaning you have to get a new keyboard when it dies out, and the auto-sleep is too agressive, having to reconnect more often than not when e.g. browsing and reading a forum.
Seeing how I actally preffer writing this post using the onscreen keyboard of my 4" phone than using the E6300, I'll return this one as well today. So my question is: Should I get the OY661 back? I've tried every "confirmed working fix" (disable chrome after uninstalling updates, set everything to 'default' in lang&input, force everything to 'English (US)' in lang&input etc) but none worked for me. But now I'm thinking maybe this can be fixed by modifying the keyboard layout&map files? Or is this a driver/hw specific issue and I'm better off looking for another keyboard? (I'm looking for something cheap to use with a $200 tablet. So a $100 keyboard that works with my computer, tablet & dog will not do, as anything designed primarily for the desktop compromises on the mobility usage and vice-versa - take the multimedia vs Fn keys; plus, I don't have a dog.)
