Is there a particular reason I dont see notifications in my status bar at the bottom? I see them when I click on the clock, but their icons don't appear beside it..
I know they were there when I had my Xoom. Is this a setting, or did Asus omit it?
I see greyed icons for things like downloads and the icon for juicedefender. Is that what you mean? I didn't enable anything to have them show.
Yes, that's what I mean.. to the left of my clock there is nothing.. ever. Except the back, home and other apps buttons..
Something's not right on your device.
Mine displays plenty of notifications... Software installed, new stories for Pulse, microsd inserted, new e-mail, etc...
Did you try a reboot? Was there a setting you changed?

Would it be possible to place an Edit button into the Notification Window, For example, next to the Clear Button which clears all your notifications? What it would do is let you edit the Notification bar how you want (Change Notification colors and things like that). I know you can already do that in the Spare Parts App In Superbad CyanogenMod but I was just curious if that was a more convenient alternative.

If you ask me, thats already extremely convenient. You're lucky you have the option to do it from the phone.
I prefer it the way it is=p it would be annoying having to see that every time I get a text...
On the other hand, adding some sort of editable region on top of the notification bar could be a neat idea. Like for example, I would put a toggle for brightness so that I could have easy acess to it without needing to go to home and use a widget. The behold 2 and galaxy s have this little power control thingy in the notification bar to toggle brightness, wifi, gps, etc and it would be cool to port that over.

that would be sweet!
The only picture I could find of the behold 2 was in the pdf manual It's small and on page 10 if anyone cares. http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm30312.pdf
I think a shortcut to spare parts from settings would do the trick.
How about putting the power control widget on the notification bar next to the operator name? That would be cool and convient.
What I wouldn't mind seeing is a button on each notification for selective clearing of notifications...
Specifically on the G1 when I'm installing many apps from the market then I have unread emails and sms, I want to clear up all the installed notifications without wiping all the notifications. :\

I'm in complete agreement. If there was some way to have selective clearance of the notification area without actually launching said notification, that would be fantastic.

I am in agreement with both of these! I'm starting to learn Android from the ground up and if nobody beats me to it, I'm gonna work on this.
Well Im glad that me posting this has made some positive ripples in the community.
Hey all,
I've got a Verizon SGS3 and I had a couple questions.
1. The notification power widget. It's got so much stuff and it takes up a lot of room on the notification shade. Is there a way to eliminate it or remove some of the useless ones? I never use bluetooth.
2. There's also a weird icon next to my 4G icon near the clock. Anyone know what it is? http://i.imgur.com/Cat4R.png And if I can get rid of it?
Also, bonus question: A way to remove all the useless ****ing share options for pictures/other files? I will never use S-Memo, Color, Group Cast, Messaging, Backup-assistant plus to share any of this ****. Go away.
Me too!
I have disabled everything I can think of and this icon will not go away!

I believe that's the "Wi-Fi Notification" icon that is persistent in Verizon SGS3 phones.
The only way currently known to disable it is to root the phone and modify a database value use a SQLite Editor.
I'm running lollipop (Pure.White if you're interested) and its near perfect. The challenge I'm currently facing is around Quick Settings not being customizable, forcing me to go back to Power Toggles. But, when using Power Toggles and a couple alternatives, the toggles show up on the lock screen. Anybody come across alternatives that don't show on lock screen?
I believe this is theoretically possible. The notification telling me my Pebble watch is connected shows in the drawer, but not on the lock screen. Thanks all.
OK, sorted this out on my own. For anyone else, you want to make sure the app is using the lowest priority notification. In Power Toggles, that's "Not pinned and no icon" under Notification Position. You lose the ability to have it permanently at the top of your notifications, but that's minor.
So i have been modding my phone for a month now and have found several bugs that make thinks kind of difficult. I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 (GT-S7275R) and installed the Cyanogen 12.1 mod and latest kernel from Kotzir. The problem is when i get a notification in the drop down menu, it overlaps with the menu and the other notifications. I understand that the transparent theme may cause this "trick" of hiding the notification behind a menu may cause it to appear behind it, but it should scroll with the menu anyways. And besides that, in the notification area the notifications overlap as well. The standard music app even has 2 notifications overlap itself. So i think there is something wrong with the grid of the notifications? Some counter that's stuck or something? Other than that, the phone is really stable and battery life has extended by 150% so i am happy, but i don't like to have to manually open every app to see what is going on, even more so if you can only open it by the notification like USB settings and such.
(i would like to post pictures but since i am new here i have to make 10 post before i can. i will as soon as i can, sorry for that)
Thanks in advance
Nevermind
This from can be closed, i moved over to android 6.0 CM13. It doesn't have the problem.
However a bit more information for other people who want to stay at the CM12.1:
1: The problem seemed to happen whenever more then one app had a notification. Just one app after a fresh reboot didn't cause anything.
2: If you pressed where the icons should be, you would still select it. This means it was just rendered wrong. This would mean the grid is fine, but there is a bugg in drawing the notifications properly.
3: Sometimes the menu would freeze and the animation would hang but the menu would still be pushed upwards when swiped up. The menu would freeze causing you to only see a stripe with a half gear and the other icons but just at the top.
4: The clock becomes visible after turning the screen 90 degrees either way.
5: Restarting the GUI via the settings menu should solve the problem. The icons still work just image swiping down with your eyes closed. swipe all the way down and press the gear icon to open settings.
Thanks to the admin who placed it to the correct category anyways.
have a nice day everyone ^^

Notification symbols show at the top of my screen but when I pull down they do not show up. Screenshots do not show this. When I pull down the notification panel it shows those things like Wi-Fi and GPS but nothing else. On my lock screen I see the notifications but I cannot touch them to go in to those running apps. Can someone please tell me how to get those notifications. One is Google photos another is an email also the download Arrow is there but I do not know what is downloading and then there are three dots indicating that there are others. And also when I do pull down the symbols are all in dark background not white as it was a few days ago. I do not know what I did
Please help.
Have you tried restarting your phone?
Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
Yes I did restart the phone and I have just done that again with the same result. The pull-down says no notifications yet there are notification symbols at the top

Take a look at screenshots below.
Have you switched this Staus bar setting off ?
Phone /Settings /Display /Status bar
Problem solved. I had an app installed called Material Status, Bar. I uninstalled it and everything came back to normal and the notification panel works now.
