[Q] [VZW] Power widget in notification area, Weird icon near clock. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey all,
I've got a Verizon SGS3 and I had a couple questions.
1. The notification power widget. It's got so much stuff and it takes up a lot of room on the notification shade. Is there a way to eliminate it or remove some of the useless ones? I never use bluetooth.
2. There's also a weird icon next to my 4G icon near the clock. Anyone know what it is? http://i.imgur.com/Cat4R.png And if I can get rid of it?
Also, bonus question: A way to remove all the useless ****ing share options for pictures/other files? I will never use S-Memo, Color, Group Cast, Messaging, Backup-assistant plus to share any of this ****. Go away.

Me too!
I have disabled everything I can think of and this icon will not go away!

I believe that's the "Wi-Fi Notification" icon that is persistent in Verizon SGS3 phones.
The only way currently known to disable it is to root the phone and modify a database value use a SQLite Editor.

[REQ] "Edit" Button in Notification Window

Would it be possible to place an Edit button into the Notification Window, For example, next to the Clear Button which clears all your notifications? What it would do is let you edit the Notification bar how you want (Change Notification colors and things like that). I know you can already do that in the Spare Parts App In Superbad CyanogenMod but I was just curious if that was a more convenient alternative.

If you ask me, thats already extremely convenient. You're lucky you have the option to do it from the phone.
I prefer it the way it is=p it would be annoying having to see that every time I get a text...
On the other hand, adding some sort of editable region on top of the notification bar could be a neat idea. Like for example, I would put a toggle for brightness so that I could have easy acess to it without needing to go to home and use a widget. The behold 2 and galaxy s have this little power control thingy in the notification bar to toggle brightness, wifi, gps, etc and it would be cool to port that over.

that would be sweet!
The only picture I could find of the behold 2 was in the pdf manual It's small and on page 10 if anyone cares. http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm30312.pdf
I think a shortcut to spare parts from settings would do the trick.
How about putting the power control widget on the notification bar next to the operator name? That would be cool and convient.
What I wouldn't mind seeing is a button on each notification for selective clearing of notifications...
Specifically on the G1 when I'm installing many apps from the market then I have unread emails and sms, I want to clear up all the installed notifications without wiping all the notifications. :\

I'm in complete agreement. If there was some way to have selective clearance of the notification area without actually launching said notification, that would be fantastic.

I am in agreement with both of these! I'm starting to learn Android from the ground up and if nobody beats me to it, I'm gonna work on this.
Well Im glad that me posting this has made some positive ripples in the community.

[Q] Disable SMS and missed calls notifications from status bar

Like the title says, I wanna know if there is an solution to hack android (2.2) to not display notifications in status bar when a SMS is received or a call is missed.
I simply don't want them because I use LauncherPro: it can display very well this kind of notifications in the dock icons so the status bar ones are unneeded. Also, I don't wanna hide status bar, I need it for other notifications like 3G watchdog, WiFi etc.
With a simple Google search doesn't seems to find something useful.
Thanks in advance!
for messages its easy just go to message and settings then disable the notifications and for calls im not sure this might solve half your issue

Thanks for your answer. Yes, I knew about this setting but it has a problem: it disable the sound notification of a new received SMS. So, it affects not just the notification in status bar.
It is really interesting that few people have asked this request. In fact, disabling this kind of notification (in a case of using an HOME app capable to do that too) is a matter of looking good. It should look „iPhonesque”
right right now i understand what you fully mean,
well i disabled it and just use sms pop up from the market by dev Adam K.
its free you should check it out maybe it will help
(i am no way affiliated with him nor do i know who it is just an app i like)

Well, thanks. But I'd like to use the stock messaging app instead of that. It seems that this is not a truly interesting kind of modding.
Right
Well thought I'd throw some suggestions out there

[Q] Notification bar pop-up settings

On the S6 when you get a notification on WhatsApp for example, the notification blocks the whole notification bar and stays there for an annoyingly long time
So until the bar goes away you can't swipe down the notification bar.
What settings would I need to change in order to fix this? Maybe stop it blocking the whole notification bar every time I get a message.
Sometimes I get more than one message in a row so it will be there for a long time.
There is probably a really obvious answer for this but I have yet to find it
Any ideas?

Its a feature that sadly comes by default in Lollipop and there is no option to disable it. Unless the app specifically allows you to disable Headsup notifications theres nothing to be done. We are sadly stuck until Google or Samsung realize this is a ****ty way to receive notifications and gives us the damn notification ticker from kitkat back..
I just rooted my S6 just to get rid of this stupid heads up.
I found a guide using SQLite editor.
Open folder File then: /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
Choose Global and find heads_up_notifications_enable and set to 0 instead of 1. Save and reboot.
Worked for me

Not sure if you are aware of this but you can dismiss the message by swiping to the side. Similar to how you would if you were in the actual notification shade.
Took me awhile before I figured this out. I'm much less annoyed by it now.
So theres no way to get the kit kat notifications without root?

A few questions regarding the notification dropdown

I just got my Verizon Galaxy S6 and I love it after debloating it with CleanROM Lite and disabling any unnecessary apps. I have a couple questions regarding the dropdown menu though.
Here's what mine currently looks like: https://i.imgur.com/sArnGjj.png
My questions are,
1. Can I hide that charging notification? I don't need a notification to know that my phone is being charged. It's pointless and takes up space.
2. Is there a way to change the name of buttons on the quick settings panel? The 'Mobile Hotspot' button takes up two lines which I don't like.
3. Is there a way to remove the "Verizon Wireless" from the bottom of the notification drawer? I remember being able to do this on my Galaxy S3 a long time ago, so I'm wondering if it's still possible.
Thanks!
Bump
The only thing I can think of is for you to root and flash extreme syndicate rom. Alliance framework I believe you can change the Verizon text and you can remove the text from the toggles period. I don't know of a solution for the charging notification at the moment.

Question Pixel 7 Pro Notifications?

Can someone walk me through this? Totally new to Pixel phones. Been using LG for the last 10 years.
I have Nova Launcher installed and it seems to be working properly with no issues.
I'm getting written notifications on my lock screen whenever a YouTube channel I'm subscribed to posts a new video. I don't want that. (This is happening on most of my apps)
In the past with the LG, i'd just get a tiny colored bubble with a number on the app's icon on my home screen. That's what I'm trying to accomplish with the P7P. Is there a way to get the phone to do this?

Just long press on the notification and toggle off notifications.

Thank you!
I've tried that on the lock screen, and it takes me to a page asking me if I want to unsubscribe from notifications from that YouTube channel. Is this correct? I do still want to get a bubble on the app's icon on my home screen letting me know I have unseen content.

Hmm, I don't think so. Have you tried it once you've unlocked the lock screen? Please see screenshot.
Didn't make a difference.
If "notifications “ are turned off, will I still get the little dot on the app icon?
Ok, I may have an idea.
In the notifications settings area....
Pic below, set hide silent notifications from the lock screen. Then long press the notification in the status bar and set them to silent.
They will still show in your status bar and app icon.
Downside to my plan is if you have, for example, text messages set to silent they will no longer show on lock screen if you want that.

Yes, at the bottom of the list of notications, there is an option to have the dot separately.
