[Q] Tapatalk vs XDA Premium App - General Questions and Answers

What are the differences?
Sent from my unrooted DroidX using XDA App

Hard to say, why don't you just try both and keep the one you like most ?

I haven't heard of any differences between the stand alone XDA app and the access provided from Tapatalk. Tapatalk has access to a bunch of other forums though, that'd be the main difference between the two. As for, specifically, XDA access - I haven't heard anything different / missing between the two.

XDA Premium is $1, and is actually based on Tapatalk?
Tapatalk is about $3 and works with multiple forum sites.
The free Tapatalk RO (read-only) is no longer available in the Market.

Yes, but I think the question is is there any functional difference between Tapatalk and the XDA Premium app other than the color? I have both, I am just curious.

[Resolved] Tapatalk v XDA App

Other than Tapatalk having the capability to be used for multiple forums and xda only for, well, the xda forums, are there any other differences between the two apps? For instance, is the layout the same?
Sent from my EVO running myn's Warm TwoPointTwo (RLS4) via XDA app
Yea the layout is pretty much the same. But the xda app has ads in it, and I don't like ads do I bought tapatalk and disabled the ads.

That answered my question. Thank you for your speedy response and may you and your family enjoy a happy Thanksgiving.

You too bro. Have a good thanksgiving!
Just to clarify, there's no reason to use the XDA app if we've bought Tapatalk, correct?
I just came here looking to make sure before I remove the XDA app.

XDA app and adverts !

The latest XDA Android app update now has adverts at the bottom, and is annoying the hell out of me :-(, I loved the ad free app, now its ruined! Anyone else feel the same ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Why not use Adfree, to get rid of all the ads?
Phone needs to be rooted to use it :-(
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA

Then buy the premium version! I can't understand why you people cry about the ads. It's a free version so what do you expect? Buy the premium version and support the community

+100000 on purchasing the premium version and supporting the community. For all we get from XDA, the least we can do is donate and purchase the premium app. Look ma! No ads!
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
Use adfree. You said that you where not rooted so may I ask what one does on xda if it's not looking at roms and such?

Definitely going to look into advanced version, but what happened to my favorites and bookmarks? They are all gone on my phone but not on my computer.
if u don't like adds then buy premium otherwise stop complain.
Ads are cool if the adfree version is 1.99 and xda can cover server costs because of such income sources.
Nothing is free, all work requires capital, including open source community free-to-access networks.
Complain about something that matters. Accept the need to share wealth somehow to gain the wealth (of info, software, support).

xda on mobile so slowwww

Xda great butttt. Might be the slowest site on the net from my phone. Once in awhile pages load ok buttt. I can watch a half hour show faster than load 1 page here.

Why use the website when there is such a brilliant app available - even better if you actually contribute by buying the paid version.
blame sprint.
Are you seriously accessing the site from your mobile browser rather than using the Tapatalk app?

Posting warez links is against the rules of xda. And to be honest posting the link to go and get the xda premium app for free on xda is just dumb...thread cleaned
umm

No, you don't NEED to buy. I paid for the app in order to help support XDA as it has given so much to me.
Sent from the darkest corners of my mind.
you could just use opera mini if you dont want to use tapatalk. xda loads very fast with that browser

Your opinion please?

Just wondering if the tapatalk app is really worth getting if xda is the only forum I visit? Should I be on other forums as well, even though they all seem to link back here for everything?
Stupid I know lol but curiosity got the better of me.

Continue using the xda app. Its better IMO
I consider Tapatalk one of my must have apps, but I'm also a forum junky. I'm a member of about a half dozen I visit daily, plus one I run.

they're almost the same imo, but XDA the app is much easier to navigate
Just like everyone else has said, if you use a lot of different forums then tapatalk is great!
If you just use XDA, then by all means use the XDA app, it's much better.

Yeah, I haven't used the XDA app in a long time, basically since Tapatalk came out with the tablet version.
Try subscribing to a forum. Still haven't gotten it right.

I love the new xda app. There habve been issues with things like subscribing to threads, but the play store page tells you exactly how to fix it. Working flawlessly for me.

Not to my knowledge. I have been using it on my SR and my Nexus 7 from the day it was released, with no issues. What worked for me was to manually unsubscribe from all threads that were subscribed to from the old app, clear app data and cache, and then re-add all subs. Not a single issue since then.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I actually hate how much it lags. Also, if I remember it correctly, there's no way to view your posts. And when you visit a thread you'd visited before, it takes you to the first page again, which is very annoying. Not sure if this was even tested in the first place.
To view your posts, back up to the left menu, and choose "particiapted". As for the way it opens a previously viewed thread, you can go to settings and choose whether you want it to open at the beginning, go to the first unread post, or to the newest post.

well yes ....
It's just stupid that, instead of simply updating the current version, they release it as an entirely different app and make you pay for it again. I'm sticking with Tapatalk 2 until it dies.

It works great for me on the skyrocket, the HTC one and my galaxy tab 2. I like it much better than tapatalk 2. Sometimes it lags for a second on startup. No other problems here.
