What happens if I lock the bootloader after Ive rooted and installed clockwork? Seems when bootloader is unlocked, I have usb connectivity issues when using usb debugging.
So, can we re lock the bootloader after we've done what we wanna do?

Yes. If you do need to unlock again it will wipe though.

Just curious if anyone knows a way to get rid of the unlocked lock on the Google splash screen with a phone with an unlocked bootloader?

No and no. Relocking does not wipe, only unlocking. Your custom recovery will stay installed, and as long as you have root you can even install a new recovery using flash_image if it is somehow overwritten.

Hey
I unlocked the boatloader, which wiped the phone, and rooted it when I first got it.
I got the new update recently and just found out I lost root. Is there a way to get root back without wiping the phone? I still have the unlocked bootloader since I have the little lock on the boot screen.
I read the guides, but they all seem to also do the fastboot thing that unlocks the bootloader or installs a new ROM. I just want to keep my phone the way it is (stock) and root it. I'm just really confused about how to do it.

I don't have unlocked anything. I'd like a rooted phone without having to wipe anything. Is it possible?
If the bootloader isn't unlocked then doing so will wipe.
If it's unlocked installing su and recovery as I described will wipe nothing.

Hey guys, I have a problem
I am somewhat experienced in hacking my phone, I was a previous Droid 1, and Droid Bionic owner. I just rooted my S3 today, I downloaded ROM Manager, flashed the CWM Recovery, rebooted and I get this message that says "Secure Fail: Kernel" at the top, and "System software not authorized by VZW has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest store for help." I'm not really sure what to do at this point, any help would be appreciated.

What 4g screen? What root method did you use?
You need to odin back to stock, then root your phone again. The newer methods don't always successfully unlock your Bootloader, so you may have to do it manually.
Download ez unlock version 1.2 from a website, then open it and verify it says unlocked. If it says unknown or locked, then hit the unlock button.
Then flash your recovery just like you did before and everything will work properly.

Try to do a factory reset in recovery, then boot it up again.

it works!! thanks a lot but my phone is stuck on 4.0.4.., i guess i just got too excited to get back into the phone hacks. so now i just root again (i did it by the one click casual) unlock bootloader, flash cwm then i'm good to go?

Yes, but if you're on 4.0.4 you might want to take the ota then root.
Or you can use the rootdebug method, it's an old rooting method but will work if you're on ics.

Either way is fine, but I'd most likely take an ota update then use beans casual method.
Rom choice is all personal preference, read all the threads and look for the features you'd want. Most of the roms are very good.

I have unlocked and rooted my phone. I am proud of the fact that it is mine. I know to most people it isn't an issue, and it isn't THAT big of a deal, but i would like it to go away anyway...

I'd prefer to recommend bootlocker. Once you have root access, you can lock / unlock /reset tamper flag at will without connecting to a pc.

You sure its not Boot"UN"locker? I've never heard of an app that did this so, out of curiosity, I searched for "bootlocker" and found "bootunlocker" instead.

Is relocking it going to cause an issue if I decide to install a rom in the future? Or use Wugfresh to lock and unroot? Or will it be seamless?

You can still flash roms via recovery with a locked bootloader. You just need to unlock the bootloader again to update your recovery.

And out of curiosity, why not use Toolkits? If its to help me gain experience, I usually have no problem using adb, but I'm at work and figured it was easier. That, and I am lazy

No. You'd need to unlock the bootloader to update recovery.
Its easy enough without toolkits. Being lazy and taking shortcuts is dangerous.

I'm currently rooted and have twrp on my opo. With bootunlocker you can unlock/lock your bootloader from withing android without wiping the device, whats interesting is if I relock my bootloader with the app I can still install zips from within twrp, I thought locked bootloaders prevented this? Or am I wrong lol thanks if anyone can put my mind at rest ?

If my memory serves me right, you can't flash ROMs and if your phone gets bricked with bootloader locked, it will be a brick.
