The headphone jack on my Desire S was not working. Either the headphone connection icon was not there when I plugged it in, or when it was there, there was no sound coming from the headphones. (By the way I have tried various headsets).
I sent it back to O2 and the replacement I have got today has exactly the same problem! Am I doing sth wrong, is there a workaround anyone knows?
Used my own head phones for weeks, no problems experienced
Head phone icon appears when I plug them in.
Sorry

I wonder whether they simply sent back the same one, with a factory reset done

No, they did not because I sent the first phone back to O2 with the courier who delivered the replacement.
Hmmm, or you were tricked by the courier ;-)

Nevermind. I don't know whether it was related with Sound Settings->Pocket mode or not, I toggled it off then on, and the headphone starts working now. Weird. I wondered whether that would have worked on the first phone which was sim unlocked. Now I have to unlock this one. Shame.

Is anyone else experiencing any problems while charging their sensation?
When I have it plugged in it seems to be very jumpy and doesn't recognize where I have touched on the screen. Example, it takes a few attempts to open the notification bar. Or I try to scroll through my home screens and it might bring up the customize menu etc etc

It did this to me the first time I plugged it in after bringing it home. I did a factory reset while it was still plugged in and it was still happening. I was about to take it back but it worked fine after unplugging and haven't had the problem since. Does this happen every time you plug it in?

I have not seen this problem with mine BUT I had the same problem with an old android phone (Behold 2--- HORRIBLE phone!) and it turned out to be a bad charger. I threw it out and got a new one. Problem solved. Have you explored more than one charger?
This usually happens if u use a non-stock charger, or if you connect too many devices to same power plug. Could this be the case?

Interesting... It happened to me with the stock Sensation charger. I normally plug my charger into the outlet on the wall my bed is pushed up against so I was pissed at the shape of the charger. I have been using my MT3G charger ever since because it hugs the wall. Makes me wonder if its the Sensation charger that is bad instead of just a fluke...
Just plugged it into the stock charger and yes, the charger is the problem apparently. Thank you for helping me discover the solution (which should have been quite obvious to me since switching chargers fixed it..) #Facepalm
This happen to me yesterday. It was fine if charged through my pc. But using the stock wall changer it started going crazy. So needless to say I exchanged it now all is right.
Funny thing is it worked perfect when I got it . Just yesterday it just started going crazy. So between this and unresponsive screen issues I just had to exchange it.

I think this could be the cause as it seems to be fine with the official charger.
I'm happy with this, at least it ain't me phone. Already sent one back.
Thanks for the replies y'all

My Car Panel App would start launching without me doing anything. I have to exit it by pressing exit. But in sometime it again shows up. Also after this happens my speaker phone always begins a call with the speaker phone on while using the phone, even if I am not in car panel.
This is the same exact problem i have. I havent found a solution yet.

If this happens while plugged into the charger try a different cable (this is what fixed it for me), if this is happening while not plugged in try blowing some compressed air into the usb port. Something could of gotten in there & is causing the pins to short making it think it's in a dock.

Hey guys, just a tidbit of info for ya. My phone would have the speaker on when making calls. My solution was to go into my watchdog app and kill the process for the car panel app. Now as for the car panel constantly coming up, don't know. Just wanted you all to know what the fix was for the speakerphone issue as I had it for about a week.

Car Panel issue
I had the same problem with my Inspire. Car Panel would launch, and phone always answered on speaker. It all stopped after I rooted my phone and flashed a new ROM. I've tried out three different ROMS and it didn't happen while using any of them. Granted, I'm still searching for a ROM that I like, at least I'm not having those two issues any more. I hope this helps. I was told by AT&T about the cleaning the port possibly being a fix, however, that did nothing for me. Some other research told me it was from using a non HTC USB chord and if I stopped using "the" generic chord(s) it might stop...that never worked for me, just the new ROMS...
What rom did you install to fix the problem?
My phone automatically launches locations and stays on speaker mode whenever I call or answer.
I've read up on this and it seems to be linked to after market chargers from looks of it.
Anyone have any tips or experienced same problem and been able to fix I really don't wanna have to revert everything to stock to get a new one and do it all over again.
If I installed a new female charge port on phone would that fix it ?
Anyone got any cheaper ideas to save me time and money
Plz and thank you
Edit* omg found answer in hd2 forum HTC sucksI wiggled the usb cord in the female charge port till it exited outta navigator and speaker phone went off what a ghetto phone hope it doesn't happen again I don't know if i can wiggle it right again lmao
Sounds like HTC did something wrong with there charge ports sad its been happening since hd2 now on this phone

I Just bought a htc sensation, and my headphones dont work proper, they are from a sony phone, and i have to hold down the headset button to let the sound sound good. I fixed it with some tape, but it goes loose all the time, so are there any other ways of fixing it??

Try another headphones, so you will know, if it's headphone or phone problem. As for headphones, replacing a jack is a good starter. I don't know what to do, if it's a phone problem though...full wipe and install a ROM I guess
I'm using my headset now, that works cuause that one doesnt have a headset button for callen. The other one does, guess i'll have to stick with this one :3

Hello, so this started some time ago (long), when i plug in my headphones and start playing music, after some time, completely random, my phone turns the headphones into (as i assume from the icon) a headset with a mic in it and starts either calling the last called contact or turns on google talk. Also whenever this happens usually the volume tends to lower itself also.
I'm using factory settings, no new roms, just restored into factory everything from scratch, that bug is still there, no additional apps. Also it doesn't matter which player i use, used winamp now i used google play...
Much obliged in advance
What is your rom.

Using phillips headphones, don't have the box so i can't identify them atm, anyways, noticed that when i'm using the VLC player, and only when i leave it turned on and not minimized, the bug becomes less frequent, so i guess that's a software issue?
Obviously when i had the htc earphones this did not happen.
If your headphones have a little control piece for answering calls or volume this is probably your problem as most of them are designed to control iPhones they don't work and cause your phone to do some funky things and drain battery like crazy
