Please, please do a hard reset before complaining about this update.
It has made things noticeably snappier for me (especially mobile data) and fixed a few issues. But it was horrible and crashy before SBFing to standard UK FW and doing a full reset.
There's no noticeable difference in Blur, but the base kernel seems quicker and generally more stable. Back up all apps you want to use in Titanium, and flash.

Hello, which languages include this ROM? Is there available Czech language?
Thank you.

Amazing...
I'm checking for MS2 (UK retail).

The motorola software update tools doesn't find any update for my phone.
It even can't find the model number...
Could it be because i've installed the argen2stone rom ?

No update for Australia. =(

directly flashed the 2.4.24 sbf and used for one day.
I didn't do a hard reset, but only wipe cache.
What I feel is the phone really become faster
I was using Argen2Stone 1.9 before and this 2.2.2 upgrade make the phone even faster!

How to flash it from stock rom?
[EDIT] I've rooted and droid 2 bootstrapped' my phone....what now?

I flashed my phone with this update and that's it - no hard reset, wipe data etc. Everything works great I think a little bit faster than the 2.2. Asphalt 6 works much better in menu and garage

Is this update still rootable?

Yes but with SuperOneClick, not with z4root

has anyone succeeded with an over the air update, thinking of restoring my nand backup and reverting to UK sbf and then trying that.

Which languages is included in this ROM?

you don't need the bootstraper to flash the stock rom
Just use RSD Lite 4.9 to flash it, the sbf file can be find here : http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2

Root with Gingerbreak if you have not a PC close to you.

Who dont know, u can download SBFs here:

The news sbf are listed as 2.2.2 service? There are version 2.4.24?

Flashing stock ROM via RSDLite right now... I will update via Motorola Update and wipe /data and /cache partition ASAP. I hope it will solve the phone's slugginess...

[Q] HTC Desire HD new update 1.83.415.4

Hi, I've just received the newest OTA update from HTC, the new version is 1.83.415.4. I was wondering does anyone know what new features or fixes this update provides compared to my older 1.32.405.6.
First thing I've noticed is the phone is lot quicker. Seriously, I cant believe how much quicker my phone is now.
Cheers..
i got this on my unbranded phone yesterday here in Australia.
the phone is noticeably aster, i'd say between 10% - 20% in some cases. no idea what changed, still looking for a changelog.
hi,
i got mine just this morning (Android ver. 2.2 ; Software # 1.83.415.4) . but dont know what changes made on my phone yet?
Edit: i saw some post and they think this update is for the Arabic support.
I've got a Unlocked/Unbranded DHD here in Australia and i haven't gotten it yet
I did download the update (Android ver. 2.2 ; Software # 1.83.415.4)
but can't install it (my DHD is rooted)
it crashed when restating the phone (in visionary+ I did the "unroot now" option)
Please Help
Arabic seconded
I also think this is mainly for Arabic support based on the search results I've done for this update. I have an unlocked DHD in New Zealand (parallel import I supposed) and the case had arabic script on it.
how can I install this update while the phone is rooted please?
I can confirm it's for "Arabic" support.
Although after installing it, I've noticed misplaced text in some "English" apps like "GPS test".
A Representative from HTC told me that the update also fixed a GPS bug which caused the phone to take a lot of time to get a proper location fix, but I didn't notice any improvements concerning the GPS ( I feel it got even worse ).
Actually I'm waiting for fixes concerning the following problems :
1. Ring Volume ( it's not so bad, but sometimes I miss some calls )
2. Fix GPS lock/fix time ( It might take up to 30 minutes to get a proper fix )
3. Fix the garbage HD video recording
4. HTCsense.com which doesn't work at all ( sometimes I can make the phone ring ), I can't believe how they keep advertising about this !!
And it would be actually great if they update the phone to Gingerbread
not installing at all
hi everyone ...
i download that update but it didnt install ... once i press Install now and OK, i go to black screen and it start unpacking ... but it stops unpacking and showsn android with white triangle and exclamation mark
it keeps like that till i remove the battery ... that is after 10 min of freez
i'm running the stock rom but rooted and s-off .... any help
For those who have rooted phones, you need to reflash with an official RUU ROM.
The update is good, but they changed the original Sense keyboard with one that is really bad.
installed this update 2 days ago
Hi All,
Got the update available message 2 days ago and downloaded the 37mg firmware/software in Brisbane QLD Australia. Unbranded HTC Desire HD with all western country locale - after the update I found the keyboard to only be Arabic and limited set of middle-east english - ie: had to select English(Kuwait) as the closest thing to English (Australia) or US.
Since 2 days ago I have read about 1000 websites and forums trying to get the standard keyboard back, have tried the apps that load more locales - they don't fix the keyboard - did get the HTC_IME_hi22.apk to work as a workaround (but I'd like to have a standard keyboard)
Even tried to factory reset the phone and when its starts I get the same limited Arabic countries to select from.
Does anyone know how I can get a full download of the previous firmware/software to load from my SD card?
And for future, does anyone know how I can tell HTC that this phone is a western english based phone?
PS - If your in Australia I recommend not loading this new release until you do some research.
Important Questions about 1.83.415.4
Dear all,
i'm trying to post here all the questions asked regarding the new OTA update and if you have a sure answer please reply:
1) is there any official changes in this update other than supporting arabic and replacing the Keyboard.
2) for those who did apply the update, what changes you did notice on your devices
3) for rooted s-offed devices running 1.32.405.6 that cannot install the update, how we do reflash using official RUU (link to the RUU please)
4) after reflashing official RUU and installing the new update, can we root and s-off the device again
5) to solve iPhone_convert issue, can someone advice him ??
Thanks and waiting for reply (i hope)

Official 2.2 (Singapore) released (5Apr2011)

About 5 minutes ago I received a notification regarding software upgrade for my Milestone, and true enough it's an upgrade to Froyo. It's available as a 20.7MB .exe file from the official website.
Is it possible to check kernel version without flashing it? I'm running a custom ROM and I don't want to brick it...
And isn't 20.7MB a bit small?
Update: Ok. I think the 20.7MB file is a program to update phones. If anybody (or your girlfriend/wife/grandfather/kid/neighbour/dog) updates it could we have some information here? I'm not optimistic that there'll be an updated or unlocked kernel but we can always hope =)
If you are on custom ROM, I'm not very sure how is it. But I will recommend download and flash the SBF from this website. I think it will be much safer.
http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone221
Singapore Froyo already there, the below link is a service version sbf, flash it through rsdlite.

[Q] Is LG's OTA firmware update server down?

Hey there I live in the UK and I have a sim free Optimus 3D. I updated to gingerbread within an hour of buying it and updated my firmware version to V21a. However I have tried to use the software update function whilst connected to a variety of different wifi networks. However I have only gotten the same message from LG saying that I could not connect to the update server and I should check my network connection. Hence my question regarding the state of the update server, have any of you run into the same/similar problem?
[I have searched for a similar thread however not much specifically about this firmware updating issue]
Thanks very much
How did you update to GB ?
Did you modifie your host-file to update ?
I updated to GB using my PC using LG's stock updating tool.
If I understood correctly you've already successfully updated to GB 21A using your PC and now you wanted to make an OTA update from your phone which it's unsuccessful.
A few points that they may help you:
- As far as I know, very few (if any) users managed to update through OTA. Most update with the PC and the LG Update tool.
- Since you live in UK, I think that the most recent version for your country is the 21A that you already have. So even if you try to update through the PC instead of OTA, you won't find a more recent version.
- If you've got a German or Spanish version of O3D, there is a more recent GB 21D ROM. But recently this version was pulled from the LG servers, which I guess it means that the German/Spanish O3D owners cannot update at the moment.

Couple of questions about Lollipop update

Hi guys,
so as you are receiving Android 5.0.2 I spoke with my carrier today to find you that they are still waiting for Sony to provide the test software. This means more waiting for me. I'm thinking of updating following this manual - http://techbeasts.com/2015/03/16/update-sony-xperia-z3-compact-d5803-official-android-502-lollipop-231a0690-firmware-how-to/
Before I do it I have a few questions:
1. When I update using this method am I going to lose all the apps and setting that I'm using now?
2. If I choose sets say the german version of 5.0.2, does this mean that in the future I will receive OTA updates alongside the phones running this version out of the box?
Thanks in advace.

I would just point out that that thread you linked to states that it is specifically for the Z3c. That is a different device to the Z3
However, you can just flash a FTF for the Z3 found in flashtool (Or the mega collection thread) using flashtool.
You will lose all data on your phone unless you choose to not wipe data.
You will receive updates as if you had the phone with the firmware you install on it.
But you can always flash the FTF for your carrier once it comes out
Greg
Thanks Greg.
So there is a way to avoid wiping the phone when updating with flashtool ?

Untick the box that says wipe data
If you get a load of FCs after the phone boots you will have to re-flash and then wipe data
I think I got it, but I would have to read a bit more before flashing.
Thanks again
Are there any disadvantages to flashing a different version of the firmware?
For example, I'm with Three, and although they now pride themselves on their phones being unlocked, they've still put their bloody splashscreen and other bits and pieces on the provided firmware on the phone! I'd rather have the generic UK version, but just making sure there'd be no issues with that.
None for me, My phone was with ROM for Mtel ( a Bulgarian carrier)that also claims the phone is unlocked. I flashed the central Europe ROM without any issues. Even kept all the files and apps from 4.4.4
Thanks for that, I'll have a look at some of the various firmwares available and make my choice!

NOKIA 6 (TA-1000) September update

Hi guys,
I am new here, recently i got to know that TA-1000 is a Chinese only version and was supposed to be in China only, but somehow i got it and wasn't able to update. It was stuck on April 1st, and now it is on September 1st.
I followed a procedure by a Russian guy on this forum. I must say this site is amazing. So i made a video out of it.
Well i am not sure if i can post the video tutorial link here in the forum. Let me know if i can and i'll send you the link to do it very easily.
Looking forward.
Thanks

After the Hard Reset (which will delete pre-installed unnecessary apps), will I get the previous UI (swipe up to get to Main Menu)?
I can confirm that it works on Nokia 6 TA-1000. In my case I had the phone connected to the PC already when I had the flash tool open. And when I turned it off to prepare for flashing the firmware it automatically switched to Download Mode. But the GUI is changed after that. No more swipe up menu and the items in the pull down menu are way too big now.
You can install Pixel Launcher that have swipe up function.
I followed this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/development/nokia-6-official-firmware-mena-region-t3664441 and flashed the nokia 6 ROM linked there.
Result:
1. My phone is no longer identified as TA-1000, but as TA-1025 instead.
2. It updated itself (OTA) all the way from 7.1.1 June 2017 (through July, August, September, October, November patches) and ended as 7.1.2 November 2017 patch.
Warning:
Your mileage may vary. My phone went through few ROM flashes described below and the end result can not be guarantied.
My phone is dual SIM, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage without NFC - definitely Chinese version.
History:
I purchased the Chinese (mainland) Nokia 6 in May.
The phone came with some weird (custom) ROM without update function but with Google apps. The ROM was so messed that location services didn't work properly so applications like G maps, gett and even tinder were not able to detect device location.
I followed this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/development/problem-firmware-nokia-6-ta-1000-t3640667 to flash slightly modified global ROM with stock Android 7.1.1. It still missed the update and some minor issues like DOLBY not working.
Then I followed this thread to flash the original TA-1000 ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/how-to/nokia-6-ta-1000-september-update-t3679882 and it went to stock locked Chinese ROM that updated (OTA) to December 2017 security patch.
It was still awful experience with custom locked apps without option to replace some of them.
So I just followed that thread, and flashed the ROM for nokia 6. I Ignored the warning about different phone model and continued.
Everything seems to be working just fine (none of the issues I encountered with other ROMs).

I really like what you have done. I also have a TA-1000 with the December patch but in 7.1.1. I had thought of flashing another rom many times, but they say that in that case it is no longer updated by OTA. If you say that OTA really works, I'm going to decide to flash it.
I also would like to know if location services are working ? With Google play update (I'm in France) I have region issue I think. When I bought it in July I had Google location history working. After some time and a Google play services update it stop working by disabling it. And share location is not showed anymore in location settings. And location history is greyed and locked. Everything is on in Google settings, I tried another account flash the phone with original firmware and as soon as I install Google play it updates it self and lock location history. It works on a ta-1033 but in France ta-1000 won't work.
I tried to cheat on GPS settings, not using my French SIM card and on. But still it disable itself.
So does flashing ta-1025 solves this issue ? ta-1025 is the Indian version ?

TA-1025 is MENA (Middle East / North Africa) version. AFAIK, the difference between versions is in the radio bands.
My location history works perfectly fine as well as every other application using location services.

The ROM has nothing to do with radio bands. It's the HW difference.
For example TA-1000 does not have NFC and no ROM will fix it.
The ROM that linked in my post is for TA-102x and TA-103x.
There will be no difference in functionality between international ROMs. Only Chinese is different.
Well, I shall try then to install the ROM . As I have the Chinese version I guess it will disable NFC, and may be led support ? I will post the result next week here ASAP.
Then I will install the rom ta-102x in my ta-1000. Cross our fingers
It has worked!!! Thank you very much!!! Now I have a fully operational TA-1025, which has all the updates down to 7.1.2 by OTA. I had been thinking about flashing another ROM for a long time, but I did not dare if OTA updates failed.
I only find a defect. the apps of the Chinese version have disappeared. There is no backup app, gallery, or music. They have been replaced by google. Is it possible to get the apps from the Chinese version?

It's not a defect, it's a blessing
The launcher is still some semi custom version.
If you are interested in Chinese apps, you should probably flash the TA-1000 ROM from this thread - it has all the custom apps including contacts, phone, calendar, music etc.
A small update: today I've got the December 2017 security patch was really hopping to see Oreo update which was promised to land this year.

Hello sir, I found ur post is interesting, I would like ask some questions if I may:
1. Which ROM I need to download, the one in the first page of this thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/development/nokia-6-official-firmware-mena-region-t3664441) or other pages? Since currently that thread have 49 pages so I confused which one I should download.
2. After download the ROM and flash it with OST Tool, the apps and data will be wiped out? Is it required to do a hard reset? Currently I have TA-1000 which at December Updates and since I flashed to the original chinese stock ROM I never do hard reset and working with my old data and apps just fine until.
3. Have you try the beta labs to try the Oreo update? Since right now TA-1000 model is unable to register. If like u said that the ROM could change the registered variant (from TA-1000 to TA-10xx) then probably it could pass the beta labs verification.
Looking forward for ur respose, if anyone would also like to help pls reply this message. Thank you.
