Rooted, but now my screen will only rotate in 3 directions. Anyone else?
This is a real pain for me because I like being able to set my xoom in a table easel and plug the power into it by turning the tablet upside down so that I can then plug the charger into the top. Any quick fix suggestions?
did you flash the fix for the ua string in the browser? when i flashed that on my xoom i had the problem your describing.

Yep. That must be it. pfft! great. Thanks!
Update: Flashed stock framework. Fixed. Thanks again. Maybe the ua string fix will get a fix itself soon and we will be able to use it again.
by chance, will any stock framework work on any device? caaaause I totally forgot to back mine up. I think. where is it located again?

Hi Reddit, i'm hoping someone can explain to me how to fix the issue brought about by OTA'ing Android 2.3.6 on a Nexus S GT-i9023 variant, none of the menu keys are lighting up! Was it a hardware problem? What did i do wrong? Help! :/
Probably because of light. Did it light up before? When it detects that you have light in the background it won't turn it on.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
this isnt reddit.
anyways.
id recomand you root and unlock your phone. than flash 2.3.4 on it and see what happens.
do they work?
yes?
now than search a good working stock 2.3.6 rom.(chet the MSH5 code[or how ever you spel it])
there might be corruptions when you download a RAr/zip file.
if you found a good working confirmed rom.
flash it and see if it happens again.
was this problem solve already? my firned experiecing this problem as well
I'd flash the stock image from Google again.

im sorry i wasnt able to try it right now coz my friend is having a vacation somewhere else..
So I have a VZW S3 on NE1 rooted and running xposed. I am not sure what module it was that I installed but my phone is now stuck with the SystemUI constantly crashing to the point of me being unable to use the phone. Then I, like a moron, Unrooted my phone thinking that would stop the issue. It didn't. I do have usb debugging enabled and my phone connects to the computer. Can I just boot into recovery and use the Xposed-disabler-recovery zip to fix this? will that wreck my phone since VZW is so annoying? Would that wipe my memory? And if that doesn't work what else could I do except pull everything I can off my phone and and reflash the entire thing using Odin?
Thanks a million!

OK, I see then just flash the xposed-disabled-recovery.zip using custom recovery. If you locked with only stock recovery, you may need to do a factory reset,

From stock recovery? That won't make my phone trip the fuse for modifying the system? By the way Thank you SO much for replying.

I accidentally hit send before finished typing, if you only have stock then a factory reset probably your best bet,

Hi, decided to make this thread since I'm not getting help from the Ask questions thread. Friend of mine had me look into a N5 she got used and it's not working and wants me to see if I can get it to work. Thing is when you boot it up, it takes you to to the startup welcome screen no problem right to the 1st step which is choose a language, as soon as I select any language the screen stutters and the coloring goes all weird and goes to a black screen and sometimes reboots and back to the same welcome select language screen. I already tried wipiing everything, unlocking bootloader and wiping so I can get it back to stock as if it were new, I have no idea what they did to the phone but after doing that thought it would fix it but still having the same issue, any clues on what else to do? should i give up?

Have you tried flashing the factory image with fastboot? That's the first thing I would do.

What do you mean no luck? Did you get an error message when you flashed it? Are you sure you did it correctly?

That's so strange. It seems like it would be a software issue but if you're 100% sure you were able to successfully flash a factory image then I really don't know what's going on. What software version did you flash? I would try to flash a factory image for a different software version. If you're on KitKat then flash a different KitKat image, if on Lollipop then flash a different lollipop image. Make sure to either run the flash-all.bat or to flash EVERYTHING in the image file that gets flashed in the script. That way you know 100% that the phone is back at factory conditions. If you're going to do it manually just open the flash-all.bat with a text editor and follow all the steps that are in the script and in that order. Take a screenshot of the terminal screen for me when it's done flashing.

Phone was on kitkat so I did it with kit kat, I just flashed 5.0.1 on it and it did go through because it did boot to the Lollipop Welcome screen but same thing happened as soon as I selected a language screen stuttered and stopped working.

So this happened on KitKat as well as Lollipop? I don't know what to tell you then, it seems like it's a software glitch but that's pretty much ruled out. I wonder if it has something to do with data... like it's freaking out when it gets to the point that it has to transmit/receive data. Try doing it with WiFi on and off, SIM card in and out, and try flashing a different radio. If it still does it every time then I guess I'd RMA it.

Unfortunately I can't set any of the setting such as WiFi on or off because as soon as I tap on something the screen goes off, I guess it might be hardware (screen) related, thanks for your help.

No, I later found that some of the hardware inside (motherboard maybe? not sure which part) but that it was most likely from some irreparable damage to it, and it seemed worthless looking for a piece of an old phone to repair.
I'm running 5.0.1 stock, kernel 3.4.0, build LRX21Y, S/W version D85020f. Rooted and verified with root checker. TWRP is working fine. Problem: When I attempt to enter the "Tethering & Networks" settings, settings shuts down. As far as I can tell, everything else works just fine. Any ideas what a solution might be.

Hello, everybody!
My new tablet, it is not recall one, i received from nvidia because i have a recalled tablet, it is already killed.
But now, my new tablet also sticking in APX mode, i used a nvidia toolbox from a person to flash the first version about this tablet, when it finished, i rebooted my tablet, the screen became black, and never show anything, can't enter fastboot mode, my PC show APX!
What i can do now???:crying::crying::crying:
What toolbox and what firmware? What did you do, step by step, to get in this state?

Have you tried forcing boot into fastboot with volume down?
Was the replacement a K1 and did you flash a ROM for the original?
Anything else you can tell us about this mysterious Chinese man's website? Maybe post a link.
Still got that pic of the console output or a text version?
Any other info that can help us to help you?

I think the partition is broken, i don't know the replacement is or not K1, but i flashed the original version....

I think you might be right about the partitions being wrong. The easiest way to distinguish the tablet is that the original has a stylus and K1 does not.
I couldn't read much on that forum, but it specifically calls out "nv-recovery-image-shield-tablet-k1-factory0_0_0.zip". So you might have flashed a recovery/rom for the wrong device and bricked it.
