[Q] Anyone play with DoubleTwist on your Transformer? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was reading that they had fixed the issue with seeing memory cards, but either the Transformer is different or I misread.
The software seems to be worth the $5, so I'm not too upset but right now it the software does not see my microsd card. I can only see the internal storage.
Anyone else play with this software? Any solution? I have about 12gb free, so it's not a big deal right now but I'd like to use the microsd card.

How does that compare to Word Feud. I really like the interface for Word Feud.

I think you are confusing doubletwist with something else, it syncs itunes to your phone I think. However I like wordfeud too, I've got 8 games going right now

Does anyone have this working with their iTunes on Mac OS X? I can use Android File Transfer to move music over, but I'd rather sync it. Don't seem to be able to mount the eee pad transformer on OS X yet...

If you pay the $5, you can sync over the air.
I haven't used it too much, but I copied a couple CDs over and it works pretty good.

Ah, so air sync works fine with OS X?
I wanted to play around with it some before shelling $5 out for an app that I might not use. Guess they got my money.

Haven't played with it too much as I said, but for what I saw it's totally worth the $5. You can only sync to internal memory right now, but hopefully they fix that.
Started the app on the Transformer, went to my Macbook and started DoubleTwist. There it was in my list of devices! Entered a code, and just dragged stuff over from iTunes library. Nice.
I read it does or is going to even support song ratings. (Not sure WHY I rate my songs, but I do. )
P.S. The interface looks pretty good on Honeycomb, even though it doesn't appear to be designed for it.

Cool, thanks for the help.
The wireless syncing is definitely helpful, saves having to unplug the AC charger everytime, and airplay seems like it might come in useful.

Xoom Wifi Vs G Tablet (I Have both)

It's a new post because the Wifi is a new tablet ... So Na! he he
Well I'm one of those type of people who loves to buy bleeding edge and watch the development, but wanna touch on a few things.
Xoom - Screen - Wow I never knew what I was missing The Xoom's screen looks great from any angle.
Shows up as a media player - *Once again let down by a non zune pass compatable device comeon motorola your droid x and droid 2 can do it.
And that's pretty much it. Had google body FC on me quite a few times, and is pretty much just a tech demo at this time...
The G-Tablet runs circles around the Xoom. Flash is more developed, Stock browser is better, Dolphin runs smoother, Text does weird bouncy effects that never seem to fill out correctly.
So yeah, Unless you need zune pass, It's my personal opinion just to pass on this tablet for now. It's just not worth it yet.

Please confirm. You can sync the Xoom with the Zune software?
I love my Zune pass and would love to be able sync directly to a tablet
How can you sync your zune pass music? This would be a great advantage for me as well.

Ok lets qualify this. You can sync the droid 2 and droid x with mediaplayer 11. since they shows up as a Media player - Not directly to the zune software.
Also the stock motorolla player does not handle WMA, you will have to use a market download for that . *nope this don't work either*....
But you can then use media player (like you can with the droid x) to move them over.
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-tips-tricks/130945-sync-zune-pass-songs-droid-x.html
Just so you know this works for any device that shows up as a media device.. My old old samsung yep handles DRM zune pass songs like a champ as well
Xoom Wifi supports WMA? If so, your firmware is better than what the 3G owners have (no WMA support on ours, at least not yet)
Btw, glad to see a few Zune owners on here! Great player, nice sound. Had a 30GB one for awhile, but moved onto a Cowon - also have a legacy Yahoo! Music account which migrated to Rhapsody.

I've never really used Windows Media to play my Zune Content. I know it *can* do it, but you still have to use the Zune software to 'buy' music. Also, plays in WMP don't count in Zune (why do I care? I don't know... I just do )
Also, if you do a large bulk download in Zune, you can't actually play it in WMP until you Play it once in Zune (At least that's they way it used to be). For me, it made switching back and forth too much trouble. I just stay in Zune.

Sorry, this is OT I know, but I flippin loved my Cowon I used to have (still have it actually). I had an A2, and used that beast every single day for at least three years. Great players .
Zune doesn't use playforsure technology. WMA may see it and even sync music to it that was from your zune pass, but it won't play. WMA syncs with my EVO but the EVO can only play music that isn't part of the Zune Pass. I can play any song the songs that I used my 10 free credits a month for though.

Yeah price was not a factor. As I said screen is gorgeous on the xoom. Just feels so unfinished.
Get the vibe that android and Motorola have locked it down so devs don't realise how sloppy the code might be.
I will end up keeping both at this point (was going to sell the g tablet to a friend

This is the update i was waiting for because you can leave the app without it disconnecting
The new ui is also a nice change.
yeah this app kicks ass! I bought it for my droid when I first got it, and forgot about it. Tried it on my Transformer and its gorgeous! I bought this transformer/dock combo to replace my busted sreen laptop, and I am just leaving my laptop plugged in and on in a corner of my livingroom.
Some uses for it.
1: I stick an SD card into the laptop, got on phonemypc, downloaded the firmware update for my Transformer, took the SD card out, and updated my firmware!
2: I needed some .txt file and .pdf file ebooks to be converted into proper .epub ebook format. So I downloaded them via my PC using phonemypc, used the program I have and converted them, droppe them in my laptops dropbox folder, and voila! They were on my Transformer!
3: I also bluetooth connected my Transformer to my phone so I have constant internet on the Transformer on the go (Who needs a paid 3g plan specific for a tablet anyway?? Waste of money)
Anyways, at work, I pulled up phonemypc, logged in, and viewed the webcam with sound to spy on my dog!
I love this thing. Love it.
Typed out using my Asus Transformer Dock
is it something like removing too PC?IA m looking for something to able to remote into my PC and be able TP do things PC from remote using transformer ..is impossible with phonetics or do I need to be looking for something else?
This is a pretty awesome app. I like tier connection system in that it only goes through their servers if it cannot find the computer directly. Very responsive on my transformer.
Possibly reviving a dead thread here:
Has anyone tried this with the Transformer's keyboard dock?
Does the cursor / touch pad work?
How about keyboard shortcuts?

Spotify?

Android and iPhone apps are now up in the respective markets.
I used a proxy and signed up. But dont see the point, since the free account only lets you sync music from your PC. To listen to the streaming service, you need the 10 dollar per month package.

After all, $ 10 is too high a price. Available only 15 million songs. You can listen anywhere, anytime and can listen many different devices (mobile, pc etc.) I would rather buy the $ 10 album containing 12 tracks... No. no no .. I should have to think first what to say.
American network operators the pricing and quality is ****ed up. But many believe it is a lesser evil than $ 10 per month.

Known bug in Spotify on Honeycomb. Solution is easy but harsh: never make playlists offline available.
As long as you stream everything - you're okay. If you make a playlist offline available, it'll sync the first time and after that it'll keep saying it's disconnected.
And it's definitely worth the 10 bucks, I've been paying it for months and months (in Europe) and it saved me a ****load of money or time. If I had to buy all the music I've listened from Spotify, I'd had to sell my TF to pay the bills. Maybe even twice...
If your musictaste is pretty "conservative", not always looking for new stuff and getting addicted to it - it might indeed not be worth the money.
It's totaly worth it to have a paid subscription, i pay for premium
I use spotify all the time (at home, party's, cell phone etc)
The majority of the music i listen to is on spotify and i don't listen to comecial radio music

I still can't get it work. Every time I choose a song, I get an info bar with no info and an OK box to click. It reads my TF on my network, but it won't stream any music. I had no online playlists (I deleted everything just to make sure).
It works well on my PC--a lot of great music that seems to stream more quickly than Google Music.

Well i have a Google Voice tied to my phone, that i use for my work line. I also have my work email tied to my phone. I also use Springpad for daily task and it syncs with my computer. I use Google docs to keep important files at my finger tips. the AD-HOC tethering is nice so i can have wireless access to my catalogs from anywhere on a table or laptop... i use mine more for business then i ever thought about with my blackberry.
stream music to my phone from my computer without having to put any music files on my SD card, tethering, wifi/wifi calling, youtube videos, flash for camera, "4G" speeds, and integrated email. didnt have any of these useful features on my previous sidekick 08 lol
Almost anything you can do with a computer or laptop I can do with my phone except its more convenient cause it fits in my pocket doesn't need to be connected to wifi and takes pictures and video so I think I would prefer my intelligent phone over my laptop anyday but of course the desktop wins cause it can run the games my Xbox360 can and it helps make things for my device lol
I think we're just one level behind where its total convenience. Right now it seems like voice recognition isn't too great outside of text messaging. I'm sure Android has a lot more to bring to the table though.

we'll see a legitimate siri clone very soon, but even so, I regularly use the voice command- "navigate to __" to gps my way around miami. more than anything, on a personal level, my phone has made my life so much easier regarding events. i think most people with smartphones who see no use in them just haven't made the effort to see how they can improve their lives. I'm not saying they are for everyone, but I truly believe they can be. You just need to see how and why.

Back on topic, considering that this is my first smartphone, I find it useful, but I'm probably old school compared to many here and I've managed to live this long without a smartphone. I finally got on board not because I care to downsize my computing devices, but because I wanted a GPS-enabled device for navigation for the few times I need it. Also, a QWERTY keyboard in conjunction with Swype is a massive improvement over an alphanumeric keypad for composing texts or simply taking notes. That said, I still prefer using my desktop over my laptop over my phone, and the phone will never be a good interface for me to perform heavy text composition.
To me, what's nice is that the apps I did rarely use on my dumbphone like the calendar and calculator are much more spacious and intuitive to use now to the point where I'm willing to use them more often. It's also nice to have a specialized flashlight app and the ability to easily check my email and the weather. I really like the voice dictation and Swype inputs as well.
Also, yes, it is much harder to distract yourself with a dumbphone if should you find yourself stuck somewhere with someone/something to wait on and nothing to do. Ever since I flashed VU, I've spent more time scrolling the home screens and looking at the animations than anything else. I could easily waste time with this thing even without wireless data or Wi-Fi.

had a very similar conversation with the House Boss shortly after we got our first Android phones, (got snookered with the Samsung Behold2, almost made us go back to regular phones) once we got the MT3G-S we both fell in love with our phones (even though I jumped on the MT4G, needed more power and screen). she loves the keyboard for typing her texts and browsing web, the fact she now has Youtube on the go for watching funny vids and vids of our nieces and nephews, the great calender, games and with Pandora and her SD card no more need for her iPod.
I combine my MT4G and my Acer Iconia A500 Tablet to make my life way easier and much much less cluttered in my 18-wheeler between GPS, calender, notepad/office programs helping me keep everything inline for work and Hulu, Netflix and the games helping entertain me when I'm stuck somewhere and getting bored, I have saved money and was able to shave weight off the crap I carry in the truck allowing more cargo (means more money). Don't really know how I did this for as long as I did before.

[Q] How to survive without an SD card??

Hello fellow XDA members,
I may be upgrading to my first smartphone without an SD card since the first moto droid came out. I have become very dependent on my SD cards, my current phone has a 64gb SD card which I am using a good portion of it.
My assumption is that about 95% of all people use their phone for their music device. I DO NOT stream. I would not have the data capacity for that. I put all of my 2000 songs on my SD card and throw on the shuffle or sift through and find what I like. I do this because I drive over 20-30 hours a week and steaming would easily crush my data for more important things and also I think it's pointless to not stream exactly the songs you want that at that moment.
I also have approximately 2000 pictures and growing. Which I would prefer to keep on my phone to reference when necessary or just look through for memories.
What to do If I upgrade to a new phone with only 32gb internal storage, leaving approximately 25gb of space left for stuff.
What do you people use? How do you deal with having limited storage but being a heavy user? I cannot legitimately think of anything without making sacrifices on how I use the phone meaning I'd have to remove many pictures and songs to have room for apps and other stuff, which obviously I don't want to do, and I can't burn through data.
Thank you so much guys! I appreciate any advice!

You have Wi-Fi, don't you? Why don't you just backup all your photos on Google Drive? That could free up a decent bit of space off of your phone. As for music, I would recommend that you backup the songs you usually don't listen to on Drive as well. When you get home, you could backup your stuff, and you could retrieve whatever you need from Drive some time before you leave. I'm sure you've already thought of this, but just a suggestion in case you haven't. =P

Try rooting and uninstalling system apps(if there preloaded) Use cleaner master. It cleans alot. Mine cleaned 5gb in one month.
Try using basic cleaning. Apps that you dont use uninstall them as it took 3 gb of unused apps on my Phone

Try rooting and uninstalling system apps(if there preloaded) Use cleaner master. It cleans alot. Mine cleaned 5gb in one month.
Try using basic cleaning. Apps that you dont use uninstall them as it took 3 gb of unused apps on my Phone

Yeah I would definitely try to uninstall bloats are. And thanks, I can give that app a shot
A solution so obvious you might have overlooked it, just don't use your phone for a music player. Get a Sandisk Sansa Clip Zip (or Fuze) .mp3 player and stick a microSD card in there. I've been using a Clip Zip for a couple years now. Small, weighs practically nothing, has great sound (with some tweaks). Plays FLAC too. Or just use an old phone as a media player.

Oh yeah, i should of thought of that, makes sense. Haha. I do have Viper on my phone now as well for audio. Perhaps i'll look into that for options. Good idea, thanks
Definitely get root access and remove all unneccesary system applications first.
Then, let's say you download an app that "needs" a physical sdcard - what do you do then?
Well, if I'm not mistaken there are ways to mount a "virtual sdcard" by repartitioning the unallocated space/taking some space out of another partition to act like an external sdcard. This will fool the problematic apps into thinking you have a real sdcard in, and then they will work correctly.
This would be more toward the technical side of this question, but yeah.

Hmmm interesting. I haven't looked into that but I'm pretty sure I'd have that capability. I'm pretty tech savvy. That's good info because I think I do play games that I think need an SD card but not sure.

Good - you would definitely need to be tech savvy to accomplish it!
I have a crazy idea that I personally use, who knows... Maybe you wanna be crazy like me
I do have two nandroid backups, and I keep switching between them. Each one is nearly considered another phone with its own apps xD
But I use this method mainly because I like modding my SM-G7102, so one backup is main, and another for testing new stuff and experiencing performance issues.
Good luck with your new phone.

Yeah that does sound pretty crazy haha. On my s4 I used to run 2 Roms, but I'm sick of this phone. It just doesn't do it for me. I miss my Motorola because of the amazing speakers and microphones they have, as well as the near vanilla android. I'm planning on moving to the moto x 2nd gen once its available for Verizon. It should be awesome. Maybe I'll do that to my moto x haha. Thanks lol

I really think the idea of no SD card isn't necessarily a bad thing. As long as you have enough internal space. I have a 64gb SD card and I'm only using 18gb including 3 backups which total somewhere around 8gb.
I think about 25gb internal after rom and essentials should be more than enough. I only have 16gb of internal space of which 12gb is usable so I definitely think it's possible with 32gb

I dont know, I have 2000 pictures and 2000 songs both of which grow on a somewhat regular basis. Right now I'm using 24gb of my 64gb SD card. I have no backups on mine. Its 100% songs/pictures with maybe a little app data. In order to use the new phone I will have to do what someone said and get a separate music player. There's pretty much no other way for the quantity I have.

Yea songs tend to take up more room in general. I have 3gb of music and it's only a hair over 300 songs, and yea in your case a separate music player would be good

There's several things that I did when I switched from SD -> Internal Storage.
First, most of the data I used was saved in the cloud. Google Photos backed up all my photos, music was streamed, etc. This allowed me to conserve a lot of space. Of course, if you don't have an unlimited data plan, then this isn't the best option.
Aside from that, there are apps that will help manage your internal storage. You essentially end up removing apps you don't need/use. This primarily includes games because they tend to be the largest apps.
For photos and videos, limit the amount that you store on your phone and use WiFi to fetch from the cloud as much as possible.
For music, same as above.
For media in general, if you want to go to super space efficient mode, save media in a compressed / lower quality format. For photos and videos this may mean low res. For music, change the bit rate of MP3s or don't use flac. Of course, this is if you can tolerate the loss in quality.
A potentially weird solution would be to archive (as zip, bzip, 7z, etc.) anything that you don't use.

Not weird at all - I discovered the usefulness (not a word?) of zipping up unneeded files as .zips, .bz2s and .rars about a half a year ago, and it's been a real lifesaver!
Do it, guys - it actually saves space!
