[Q] Market Problem - General Questions and Answers

Never had this issue with my Epic or old Hero before, but my wife's samsung intercept has me stumped...
Android Market opens, you can download, but it FCs upon installing anything. Oddly, Amazon Market works fine and sideloading .apks works, but the actual market is borked at install.
I have tried re-installing the market.apk and no luck. She is running crapkernal final, but the problem started when she was on a stock Sprint Froyo rom.
Everything else is right skippy, except the market.

market stuck at starting download...

Lately past couple weeks on my captivate ive been trying out different roms for i9000 and i897 and for some reason market will not download anything. it just says starting download and never finishes, and in the notification bar it shows random apps that i never clicked to download say download unsuccessfull. if i do a hard data reset the market will work for a bit, but then does the same thing again. ive tried using 2 different gmail accounts with no luck.
the weird thing is that i thought i might have messed up some settings in my phone from flashing different roms, but the market works perfectly while running i9000 2.2 froyo jp3 and jpc roms. Ive tried various 2.1 roms, i897 jf6,jh2,jh3,jh7 and i9000 jm6, jm7, jm8 and all of them have the same market stalling.
Has anyone found a fix for this or are having this same problem? its really frustrating, but since 2.2 has a working market then i guess i just have to wait for OTA update captivate to froyo if there is no fix for this.
Are you on Wifi or 3G? I've had this same problem sometimes. For whatever reason it woulnd't download on the specific access point I was connected to, but when I switched to 3G it worked just fine. Other Wifi access points work just fine for me except for that one.
happens to me at home sometimes.. i noticed when the screen blacks out to nap.. and i turn it on.. the download starts
I get the same thing every once in a while. I fix it by going to Settings -> Applications-> Manage Applications, then Filter to show all applications. Scroll down and hit "Download Manager" and in there, hit "Clear Data." That seems to do the trick for me.
Yea it doesnt matter if its on wifi or 3g the download is stuck. Ive tried clearing cache & data on download manager & market with no success. I flashed i9000 jm8 last night on my i897 captivate and the market worked for about 20 mins even tho half of downloads wouldnt finish so i had to restart them...but now the market still is stuck on starting download. I ran i9000 jp3 2.2 yesterday and market worked perfectly, this is weird wtf google?

this happened to me when I moved for JF6 to JH3. I retraced my steps and it turned out that if I loaded my accounts from Titanium backup, I couldn't download apps from the market and it was stuck at starting to download. My suggestion is once you have your phone flashed the way you want it, restore only your apps, system settings, email, sms & mms..... restore your accounts manually.
I manual entering my email accounts, not using titanium backup to back up anything.

[Q] Market will download but not install

I'm having a problem with the market. This doesn't happen all the time, but it seems to happen a lot. When I download an app, it shows it's downloading, then once it's downloaded nothing happens. Sometimes if I download the app 10+ times it will finally work. I just flashed Firefly 2.5 again, after trying a different ROM. The other times I was running FireFly I didn't have this problem. This also happened occasionally with Perception and Cognition.
I thought it was caused by the app Lookout. When I uninstalled Lookout it definitely happened less, but it still happens.
I have always loaded the same ROMs on my wifes phone, and hers never has this problem. I read that unlocking the phone can alter the IMEI and cause market issues, but I have never unlocked the phone, and the IMEI is unchanged.
I don't know if it's related but I never could get the apps to install when you try to do it on market.android.com from a desktop. The same thing happens, downloads then nothing.
Try
Settings
Applications
Manage
Market
Clear data

Thanks, that seemed to work ... this time. I'll have to remember that the next time I have this issue.

[Q] Strange issue with Nexus S

Ok, I tried to avoid bothering people to solve this but I am just genuinely lost.
The other day I finally took the plunge and rooted my Nexus S and everything worked perfectly. So I decided to install CM7 7.0.3 Stable so I did a Nandroid backup of my current rom, then flashed CM7. Again, everything looked fine. So I proceeded to flash the google apps. As soon as I did that and logged into my google account, the market started going nuts trying to download all of my apps. The count in the notification bar was actually higher by a substantial margin than the apps that it was actually installing. After this happened, the first few downloads worked then the rest of them started to fail. So, at this point, I had a successfully installed rom and all of the google apps worked perfectly, except I couldn't download anything through the market.
At this point, I thought it would be best to go back to my restore point through Nandroid. Once I reverted back to my stock 2.3.4, the problem was still there. I wasn't able to download anything from the market. So, in my frustration, I went out drinking with my buddies and ended up crashing on a couch. In the morning, I woke up, my phones battery toast so I got into my truck, plugged it in, booted up and voila, market works again.
This led me to believe it was a server side issue. So today, I reinstalled the CM7 and google apps and tried again. Same issue. Now I am wondering, do I leave CM7 on for 24 hours to see if it fixes itself again or do I try to find another copy of the google apps. The ones I have are the ones I dl'd through rom manager.
Before anyone asks, I have tried all the usual suspects:
-Cleared the market data / Cache
-Cleared the Cache in Clockwork
-Cleared the Dalvik Cache in Clockwork
-Tried reflashing the google apps
No dice.
Anyone else have this issue or have any ideas for me?

[Q] G2 - Market Suddenly Doesn't Allow Downloads

Ok so I have a HTC G2 (Desire/Vision). I decided that i finally wanted to root it and go all out. So I did the permaroot and installed the newest version of Clockworkmod no problem. I then flashed the CM 7.03 rom. Booted up, everything looked good. I then flashed the newest version of gApps. It asked me to sign in and everything was fine. The final step I took was flashing the G2-Fast kernel (1.9ghz OC). So when i boot up my phone, google attempts to back up all my apps via the market. There was around 100 apps downloading. So I left it there over night. This morning i check it, the last 10 apps or so were unsuccessful. I kept trying to reinstall apps but nothing. I also tried new or different apps but all come up as "Download Unsuccessful". Since then I've tried just about everything to fix it. clearing cache/data, reflashing, superwipe, sobe's method, signing into to GTalk, toggling 2G. I figured I try a new rom. So far I've flashed meXdroidMod and MIUI, but same result. Everything is fine but market doesn't want to work. I'm contemplating reloading my old ROM that i backed up once i get home. Anyone have any ideas? I pray to the gods of XDA.
I don't have much experience with your particular phone buy there has been a small epidemic of your issue on droid x running Gingerbread. It appears to be a disconnection of the google account with the market. It always appears to happen after a data wipe and need to reinstall apps. Sometimes you can still push apps from the Internet market to the phone, sometimes not. In a few cases it resolves by unmounting the sd card and downloading. Once download works then ok to remount. Besides those lucky few, everyone else has to wait it out. Even sbf does not fix it.
FORTUNATELY every case I know of resolved itself spontaneously in about 24hrs give or take. I found at least one case via google on a Thunderbolt so I know it can happen to other phones. Also if you have more than one android device on the same account all of them are affected. Good Luck
It has happened twice to me. Because of this I now keep copies of my most important apps on my sd card.

[Q] Miui on Desire S - Market not downloading

Hey there!
Today is my first day running with miui 1.9.30 on my desire s.
I switched from VoidU 1.1a just to try some new stuff.
Everything is working fine, but when trying to download apps from the store, it's just not working.
It says "Starting Download...", the page reloads but progress is stuck at "Starting Download".
In the "My Apps" menu, the download is listed, but also stuck on starting.
Wasn't able to find a solution to this problem so far.
I tried wiping cache / market data / google apps data.
Some people said it's related to google talk. So i have overwritten it with a different version, still no progress.
All other downloads are working fine. I can download from the internet and through the MIUI theme manager.
The Appstore even calls me when i have new updates.
Google Sync also syncs without problems
Does anyone have / had similar issues?
Aqua
PS: Yes i have looked in the Download App.
I am using a WPA secured WiFi connection.
When that happened to my GF the problem was that the language set for her Google account wasn't the same as the language on her phone. Switching that fixed it.
Today exactly the same thing happened also to me.
When trying to download apps from the market, it said "Starting Download...", the page reloads but progress was stuck at "Starting Download".
Yesterday everything was fine.
I tried now to switch from 3G to Wireless, and downlaoding apps.
This seemed to help, now downloading apps worked.
Then i switched back to 3G, and downloading apps from the market still works.
So the problem seems to be solved now.
Perhaps it was a temporary general problem of the market, or switching from 3G to wireless (and then switching back) helped.
Solved it!
Solution was as stupid as the problem itself.
Our wifi network got upgraded the last week.
As a side effect, some ports got locked again.
And yep, the market port was one of them.
Tried at a different wifi location and the downloaded worked fine again
This needn't to be the problem. I had the same with Voidu and Virtuous. The solution was either to change language (but worked only for couple of minutes) or uninstall update of Market to 3.1.5 (then you have to delete marketupdater.apk, otherwise it installs the update again).
