[Q] G2 - Market Suddenly Doesn't Allow Downloads - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Ok so I have a HTC G2 (Desire/Vision). I decided that i finally wanted to root it and go all out. So I did the permaroot and installed the newest version of Clockworkmod no problem. I then flashed the CM 7.03 rom. Booted up, everything looked good. I then flashed the newest version of gApps. It asked me to sign in and everything was fine. The final step I took was flashing the G2-Fast kernel (1.9ghz OC). So when i boot up my phone, google attempts to back up all my apps via the market. There was around 100 apps downloading. So I left it there over night. This morning i check it, the last 10 apps or so were unsuccessful. I kept trying to reinstall apps but nothing. I also tried new or different apps but all come up as "Download Unsuccessful". Since then I've tried just about everything to fix it. clearing cache/data, reflashing, superwipe, sobe's method, signing into to GTalk, toggling 2G. I figured I try a new rom. So far I've flashed meXdroidMod and MIUI, but same result. Everything is fine but market doesn't want to work. I'm contemplating reloading my old ROM that i backed up once i get home. Anyone have any ideas? I pray to the gods of XDA.

I don't have much experience with your particular phone buy there has been a small epidemic of your issue on droid x running Gingerbread. It appears to be a disconnection of the google account with the market. It always appears to happen after a data wipe and need to reinstall apps. Sometimes you can still push apps from the Internet market to the phone, sometimes not. In a few cases it resolves by unmounting the sd card and downloading. Once download works then ok to remount. Besides those lucky few, everyone else has to wait it out. Even sbf does not fix it.
FORTUNATELY every case I know of resolved itself spontaneously in about 24hrs give or take. I found at least one case via google on a Thunderbolt so I know it can happen to other phones. Also if you have more than one android device on the same account all of them are affected. Good Luck
It has happened twice to me. Because of this I now keep copies of my most important apps on my sd card.

tried clearing cache/data of everything related to market, tried uninstalling market updates, resigning in with google, everything. it just WONT WORK and im going nuuutss
already tried pretty much everything on here and google.
wont work over wifi or 3g. was fine, i flashed a MT4G rom, IceGlacier, and ive reset and NANDroided back to CM7, still seeing the problem.
Nope. Not just you.. I'm having the same problem. Might be that there's an issue on their end.
Strange, is working for me.
Not working for me either.
Keeps starting download. But it doesn't really start.
Done.
Re-installed Google Talk.
How are we to reinstall Google Talk without the market working?
When it happens, usually by removing my sd card i can get it to work

I ultimately tried 16 different things to fix this. Finally got it working by using the CM7 settings (not booting into recovery) to do a factory reset and re-format of the SD card on my computer (not from the phone). I'm afraid to do a restore though. Going to manually download and set everything back up again. My two-day nightmare is over, but now I've got another day ahead of me getting everything back and set up.

[Q] Strange issue with Nexus S

Ok, I tried to avoid bothering people to solve this but I am just genuinely lost.
The other day I finally took the plunge and rooted my Nexus S and everything worked perfectly. So I decided to install CM7 7.0.3 Stable so I did a Nandroid backup of my current rom, then flashed CM7. Again, everything looked fine. So I proceeded to flash the google apps. As soon as I did that and logged into my google account, the market started going nuts trying to download all of my apps. The count in the notification bar was actually higher by a substantial margin than the apps that it was actually installing. After this happened, the first few downloads worked then the rest of them started to fail. So, at this point, I had a successfully installed rom and all of the google apps worked perfectly, except I couldn't download anything through the market.
At this point, I thought it would be best to go back to my restore point through Nandroid. Once I reverted back to my stock 2.3.4, the problem was still there. I wasn't able to download anything from the market. So, in my frustration, I went out drinking with my buddies and ended up crashing on a couch. In the morning, I woke up, my phones battery toast so I got into my truck, plugged it in, booted up and voila, market works again.
This led me to believe it was a server side issue. So today, I reinstalled the CM7 and google apps and tried again. Same issue. Now I am wondering, do I leave CM7 on for 24 hours to see if it fixes itself again or do I try to find another copy of the google apps. The ones I have are the ones I dl'd through rom manager.
Before anyone asks, I have tried all the usual suspects:
-Cleared the market data / Cache
-Cleared the Cache in Clockwork
-Cleared the Dalvik Cache in Clockwork
-Tried reflashing the google apps
No dice.
Anyone else have this issue or have any ideas for me?

'Error' when downloading apps

To get this across, this is not an "insufficient space' error.
Alright so to make a long story short: (I hope)
I have used Weapon G2x for about 2 mo, everything ran fine. I wanted more power+battery life over the LG cam, so I went back to EB 2.3.5(7) (oct 11th update) + Trinity T15. I also formatted my SD card before that (which I havnt done yet).
After installing that I ran into the CM issue with the LED notifications being disabled and got reboots after about 20 FC's after a reboot. So it was essentially a boot loop, just after all the FC's in the first 20 seconds. So I did the same as usual, cleared cache, factory reset, format /system.
Reinstalled, updated with Titanium, the same jumbo as usual. This time, I cannot update the apps that need to updated via the market. I looked into it farther (after clearing data from market app), and uninstalled some apps then tried re-installing them. All i get is a box with an error that says "... Was unsuccessful due to an error" Thats it.
To go to the farthest realm, i reverted to my stock backup to try that. I get the same thing now. On every ROM I try, I cannot update my apps. Now I'm not sure if this is a TB thing, or a market issue with my phone, but if i reverted back to my stock version, did nothing but try and update an app, I dont possibly see how its a TB issue.
I ran some searches, and nothing exact or at least nothing was 'fixed' in any posts I found. So I'm shooting in the dark here. To be honest, i hope its something totally stupid and easy to fix. If I read right, going to a backup will fix your ext4 to ext3 issue? Im not even sure if this falls into that category or not, but just thought maybe. In that respect I also wanted a clean phone so i formatted everything except sd card via cwm, was their anything in their I shouldnt have formatted? (emmc would be the only one I could see posing an issue) Please help me =/
Well it seems to have been slowly working itself out. Very odd, but I still cant update a few apps, but I can update some, and dl apps now at least. I diddnt do anything, it just seems to have started happening after a few reboots... Just making the update.

Missing data after reboot? Help!

Hi guys, i was playing a game called F18 Carrier Landing, when my phone froze. I long held the power button so that it could reboot. After it rebooted, i unlocked it, and it gave me the interface as if i freshly flashed a new rom or i did a factory reset (the interface asking about google and setting up accounts). So, i completed that and once my home screen popped up, i faced a few force closes, from titanium backup, my anti-virus software Avast, and various other applications. I was very freaked out at this point. I remember reading something about fixing permissions if i faced constant force closes, so i rebooted to recovery and fixed permissions. Booted up fine, still missing data, but no force closes. But my google maps does not seem to work, i open it and it opens to the orange-ish checkerboard backing, but then force closes. I'm not exactly sure what to do at this point. Can anyone advise me on what to do or if this ever happened to them? For reference, i'm still on Froyo (don't ask why) 2.2.1, ROM's Audiophile Redux by Raver. If you require additional info to help me find a solution, i will gladly comply. Thanks!
EDIT1: I uninstalled my Maps with Titanium and restored a really old version from September of last year, and it seems to be working. Or atleast it opens and loads.
EDIT2: It seems to only load apps stored on my internal/phone storage. As i checked Applications in settings, the SD tab was empty as if there are not apps from the SD card installed, what can i do about this?
This has happened to many of us on GB. Crazy it happened on Froyo. You are going to need to reinstall your missing apps. If it is similar to what happened to us your phone factory reset on it's own.
Alright thanks, when it happened i thought it was a pretty serious problem, but as i restore my apps from Titanium, i realize it's not that bad. Just glad to know i wasn't alone on this ordeal. I plan on hopping onto AOKP or maybe MIUI when my contract ends, this phone is just to valuable to me at the moment. They both seem so fast and amazing, plus AOKP has themes. K, so quick question, do you know the reason behind this, i mean, is my SD corrupted or something? I can still play the music and the videos from it on my phone, but i don't understand why it wouldn't read the apps on the SD.
None of us have nailed down the cause unfortunately.
Thanks anyways, up and running with most of my apps back. Gotta get around to flashing a new ROM someday. So many good one's coming out!

[Q] Gapps crashing on boot (PA 2.52)

This is the second time I've had this problem. I'm running Paranoid Android 2.52 on my Infuse, and everything's been working just fine ever since I ported it. I've installed no new apps and have changed nothing whatsoever, but suddenly, Gapps has begun crashing and this takes other processes down with it.
On boot, Gapps will immediately crash, which takes Talk down with it, and sometimes Trebuchet. And a handful of my apps are crippled by this problem, as well. I can't download anything from the Play Store, the download immediately errors out. If I try to create a picture message, Messaging will crash (though regular texting is okay). Titanium Backup crashes on load, and I'm sure there's plenty more errors I haven't found yet. And the little WiFi or mobile data icons in the notification bar never turn blue, they're permanently grey now. But I still have the ability to use data and make calls (I can connect to Facebook and dial my voicemail, anyway).
I've done some searching into other people with crashing Gapps, and one suggested a fix by wiping the cache and dalvik cache, but this didn't improve anything. Someone fixed it by formatting datadata, which I don't have as I'm on JB. Another suggested it's a shortage of storage space in the apps folder, but I'm showing hundreds of megabytes left in that particular folder alone. I've used a very small percentage of my phone storage altogether. Phone, internal, and external SDs are very low in storage use. When searching for apps, I prioritize a very small file size.
The first time this occured, it was as sudden and inexplicable. The first time was on an older version of PA JB. One day it worked, the next day, after making no changes of any kind, Gapps started crashing with the same symptoms. After enough searching and failing, I decided I was okay with just wiping back to stock and moving up to the latest (at the time) PA, so first I experimented with flashing the newest compatible version of Gapps, and then EVERYTHING on my phone would crash on boot, and it was completely unusable. So I Odin'd back to stock, worked my way up to PA 2.52 a few months ago. The release had only been a couple days old at the time. And everything was perfectly solid and stable, up until just today, again with no changes made on my part.
The only thing I can report is that this time it began happening while I was watching a YouTube video, which I tend to do a lot on my phone, over WiFi. I haven't installed any new apps in weeks, I haven't changed any settings since I first ported PA. Just, suddenly, BAM. Gapps is completely unusable.
Anybody have any idea what the issue is and how to fix it?
Be sure you are using this version of gapps http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
If not, uninstall the version you are using, wipe cache and dalvik and install from above link. Also be sure not to restore from TiBu anything more than just the app. (no data). gl

That is the precise version of Gapps I'm using. Also, I never performed any restore from Titanium, because when this happened last time, it prevented Titanium from loading, so I couldn't make a backup. I made a Nandroid backup from CWM, but then I discovered that no app could restore from the Nandroid backup because it's JB. So, this current port is entirely clean and from scratch, basically.
This is the exact process I went through when going back to stock and building up to JB:
UCLB3 Return to Stock - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705260
Unofficial CM9 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601844
PA 2.52 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1742073
There was absolute minimal use on the phone between steps. Only use was to prepare the phone for the next steps. All instructions I followed are found in those threads and it all went without error.
You did a great job with the process. I am on a different rom (4.1.2 using Scott's build as a base) and am using 20120726 gapps with no prob... may be worth a shot

Well, the last time I had this problem and I tried updating Gapps, it rendered my phone completely unusable, everything would crash on boot, requiring the return to stock. And to be totally honest, this is the week before finals for me, and I just don't have the time to do a whole new back-to-stock-and-build-up right now, lol. So I'm hoping there's a solution that doesn't require all that time and work, because I won't have the time until next Monday night or Tuesday morning. And that's a long time to go with a phone that doesn't work properly.
Either way, thanks for your help so far.
It also appears that some of my apps have started vanishing. I haven't uninstalled anything, but I noticed that my XDA app is no longer there. Just... vanished. And there are some apps I have on my home screen that, when I try to open them from the home screen, I get a small error saying "App is not installed," and that app is not present in the app drawer, despite its shortcut still being on a home screen.
A long series of bizarre errors, this.
How come you gt to have all the fun ?? lol
I will try to find time tomorrow to download the rom and see if I can duplicate the errors and go from there.
I made a tiny breakthrough last night. I was going through my app manager and saw that, despite my clearing the cache in CWM, some apps still had HUGE caches reserved. So I cleared the cache of apps like GooManager, Play Store, YouTube, G-Mail, and any other apps that had enormous caches, and the problem seems to have subsided as a result.
I remember doing something similar last time, and it only worked for a couple hours before the problem came back again. So I'll keep you updated on whether or not the issue does come back. But so far, it seems to've done the trick.

Nice! There is an app in Play called Cachemate (free) that I like for stuff like this. I use it every 2-3 days.
Welp, it's been about a week since I cleared the caches and things. I also moved all the apps to the SD card that would still work. I found an app (DroidSail) that will force-move apps to the SD, regardless of whether or not the stock app manager will allow it. Such as Facebook. There's no reason the 33mb of Facebook can't be on the SD. And a couple other apps like that, the real unimportant, non-functional ones.
Anyway, it's been about a week now and so far, so good. That seems to've done the trick. But why does that happen? What makes this kind of maintenance necessary? And, actually, while I'm at it, what cache am I clearing in CWM if it's not this one? And why does my phone require somewhat regular cache-clearing? Is it a PA thing, or a JB thing, or is just a me thing because I've done all this to my phone?
Either way, final verdict:
Anyone having these problems in the future. just clear your caches using the above methods.
