Edit 29/7/11: It seems the latest Official OTA update from HTC for the Desire S stops these from working! Solution pending.
I have recently taken ownership of the HTC Desire S. I tried the ROM out first on my old Desire to see if I liked it, and in doing so, I stumbled across a thread for some extra skins. The official HTC Hub only seems to offer 6 mediocre ones as extra downloadable skins.
It is in the Desire HD forum, but these skins work perfectly well on the Desire S. They are in .apk format too, so no S-Off or root required to install. Just pop them on your SD card, and install as normal. I have gotten permission from the OP (sopL87) to post the link here...

Make sure you hit his ‘Thanks’ button.
Edit: Due to slight differences between DHD & DS framework, the "GLASS SENSE" skin has bad notification bar problems. Avoid this one. Not a fault of the author. A couple others have minor notification bar issues, but they are very minor and ignorable. For the most part though, there are no problems.
Cool, thanks for finding these!
Hello everyone. I'm new here, and new to android. Tomorow i'm going to get my desire s..
So until this is S-off -ed ( i'm getting mine through vodafone so i can't even hope is s-off ), the themes and live wallpapers will be fine...
Plus i'm new to android, and i don't know that much(except what i've seen in videos)
so i won't get bored of the stock experience that fast.
Thank you for finding these! I would hit the thanks button but i cannot seem to fiind it.(nvm found it)
Niiiiiiiiiiiice. That's a huge collection.
Niceeee thx for posting/testing this! Thank-you very much

The only skin that I wanted to try was Sense3, but sadly this one doesn't work properly on the DS I'll have to create my own

Sorry for double post
Did it works on the last Virtous Unity ?
Don't think so...
I opened the .apk of a theme on virtuous, and as i can see most of the png's are in the "framework-res" and in "com.htc.resources" and not in the actual theme.apk
But you can check this out...

Make sure you get the one for Virtuous on the second post i think, and bear in mind its huge(109MB) so i would clear your cache and dalvik cache before applying. And don't blame me if anything goes wrong lol
Only prob i've got is the new themed camera app wont let me use the front camera.

Hey everyone just wondering if it would be possible for anyone to theme the genie widget to match the desire rom? Since modaco latest rom coming with this app, it is one of my favorite apps but it sticks out like a sore thumb using it with the Sense UI!
If this would be possible it would be really awesome and maybe modaco could include this version with his rom so everything matches!
Thanks!
Whoops mispelled the title maybe a mod could fix?

I posted this one in the Desire rom thread. Just delete the .zip from it's name. I found this in the G1 forum a couple of months ago. I'm sorry but I can't remeber who posted it there. This one has a transparent background.
Thanks man but doesn't seem to be working, uninstalled the old genie widget but can't install this one even using ADB I get [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE] Sucks now I am back to no GenieWidget at all lol
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5711828&postcount=934
Mine works fine
Thanks man appreciate it but not exactly what I was looking for LOL What I meant was one that matches the black transparent background of the clock/weather. That does work though, don't want to seem ungrateful just not what I was looking for.
Thanks

No, it seems Motorola made their own custom version. It definitely looks interesting.
I could easily rip it from the official Droid 2.1 update zip, but I don't feel like downloading it, and there could be a chances that it may not function properly, or not be made for our screen size.
Hmm what does this look like?
It is all red cross-hairs that are a lot thinner than the nexus lwp... also they have a fade effect that kinda resembles a comet trail... the background is also different kinda gray fading metallic grating texture. to sum it up its AWESOME. I seen a youtube of it somewheres.
Here's a video where you can see the live wallpaper mentioned.

I pushed the wallpaper to my Nexus, but like I predicted - it doesnt work. I pushed the LiveWallpaperPicker.apk, and the LiveWallpapers.apk from the Droid update and it still did not function properly. I'm probably not doing something correctly, or, there is just more that needs to be done.
i used root explorer and tried them both as well as changing permissions ro read/write wich at least replaced the live wallpapers home menu link but thats as far as i got... i noticed theres .odex files and im thinking maybe they need de-odexed... though i dont know and could be wrong as i am not no where near that knowledgeable about porting apps... all i can do is... USE THE SEARCH BUTTON ;-) and fallow directions!
Thanks again to XDA and their Dev community!

I can't remember which Dev did this, but there is a LWP out there that modd the proginal Nexus LWP. Search for the Dev and request it from him. Why port something that can probably be modded from existing work?
Just a suggestion.

Chris Soyars did I believe.
I copied it from other ROMS. I've gotten as far as it being listed with the other live wallpapers, but it continuously force closes.
Does anyone have a link to the Droid 2.1 dump? Ill try to tinker with it.

um... i dont think its the same as the one i got with the official ota 2.1 update... it is totally different from the nexus one aside from the fact that it has cross hairs. i want this so bad in green especially!
I would pick this over the Nexus ... I admitted it, shoot me!
Any progress though as my HTC Desire is very interested in this ...
its called NexusMod and its in market..
Pete at alldroid or Blackdroid at droidforums.net have modded versions of this wallpaper try one of them for it
Could someone please give me a direct link so I can download it straight to my Desire. Do I need root for this?
That video showed a custom exploding Droidlife boot animation but I didn't see the Droid version of the live wallpaper. Have any other links?

SO, I was wondering if it was possible to get the tablet UI working on the HTC sensation. I know there's a mod for it here but I see no updates. What I've discovered so far is that the Sensation need to drop below a density of 140 for the UI to kick in, but for that to work, we need to edit the services.jar of cm9 to make it work. If anyone is good at smali and was willing to take a look into it, let me know, and I'll share with you the information I've gathered.
Specifically a good, smali dev.
yep, i already had a topic about it here

Hi,
first of all, Im sorry, if this thread is useless, but many people have spent their money for that skin and after update to JB doesnt work anymore. And they know nothing about future update.
Well, this is response from developers of Holo theme for Sense.
Hello,
We are working on update. It should be available in week or so.
Sorry for the delay.
Best regards,

And also it is free (last time I checked) on the One X.. One S users have to pay for it.

so hopefully they do the same for the one s skins instead of just leaving us hanging with no update
Send these developers emails via the play store asking them to update the skin to work with sense V4+, and if you have bought the skin, make sure you tell them that and that if the update isn't out within a week, you want a refund (I know, it doesn't even cost a £1, but if most people do it, well you get the picture) as there is still no update! I contacted them like a month ago asking about an update and they said in a few weeks time, still no update.....
Doubt there are many people sending them emails asking about the update so if you all do, they will hopefully be quicker with the update.....
Complete joke, all the "HD" skins were updated not long after the jellybean/sense V4+ update for the one X.
Done. Good idea!
Hopefully they respond or finally update. It seemed easy enough to update the HD skins, so i can't imagine why it wouldn't be possible.
lets take bets on what comes out first, the tmobile jb update, the qHD skins from the virtuous team, or neither will ever come out.
Thanks!
Have you got any reply yet?
Sadly they haven't responded to my e-mail yet. I'll ask for a refund this time since in the last one i only asked for an update, but i have a feeling it won't do any good
I'd much rather have the skin than a refund anyway.
Same happened with my first email to them, didn't hear anything for like a week or two, sent another one of saying something like "I take it since you haven't replied to my email, that means you won't be providing any update then?", then I received an email within one hour saying that they will provide the update within 2 weeks or so.
Shame we can't get everyone to do the same
The update is here! Yay! :victory:
My god it's beautiful :'D

Any chance of an HTC dialler, and the HTC gallery, ported so they can be used on touchwiz?
I prefer them to the TW apps...
Thanks for your present work also!

Unfortunately probably not, both HTC and touchwiz apps require there specific frameworks. They are tied to the framework so they won't run without it.

Updated the op and cleaned it up a bit, hope you like. Does anyone know of any more? Please post of any ports that you know of that exist throughout XDA and I will update the op asap. Also, if someone with an HTC device are able to post ports from those devices, I will add a section to the op with those.
thanks for the effort. really useful thread.
Well great to see you on this end. Been going to the s3 thread to actually pimp up my s4 (got it as a graduation gift).
Just as I stated in that thread, if you need any help testing anything...just let me know ^.^ I am down, thats what we have back up for.
Also slightly out of topic, but you were going to make your first rom how did that go? Was looking around to see if I can test it on my s3 (gave it to my mom as a hands me down, only a drive away lol)

Seems to be another way to patch wallet, who knows not everything work for everyone...choices are always good (if you dont have it already)

Thanks for that. Ill add that Google wallet to the op. I figured that I would kind of merge this off of that S3 thread since these will pretty much work on every phone anyway.
Ya know, i started development on a custom s3 rom for several weeks and then real life started to get in the way with my wifes medical issues and had to kind of loose interest on it for a bit. I still have everything that I have done so far and hope to start having a little more free time in the next few days to continue with it. :fingers-crossed:

Just about everthing in this thread 'should' work on any single rom except for the touchwiz based apps since they require there specific framework to run. The HTC apps are the same although I havent added any yet that specifically require the HTC framework. Check the op of those threads though and anybody can post if they come across any with other dependencies that I missed. These have all only been tested and installed by me on the T999, the T-mobile galaxy S3.
