[Boot Animations](updated 10-19) Compilation of boredom... - T-Mobile LG G2x

First I did not create any of the artwork in these boot animations. I mixed the sound for some, and for others I mixed and matched images found throughout the internet (especially the portal animation). To give credit where credit is due, I used a lot of JaiRomeo's stuff so check him out at JaiThemes
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED TO YOUR PHONE!! Although, I don't know how you would mess up your phone with a boot animation.
Each file is either the bootanimation.zip or a .rar file that contains the bootanimation.zip and PowerOn.ogg files you need to put in /system/media and /system/media/audio/poweron respectively. Edit: Apparently with CM7 you have to do some magic to get the sound to work on boot animations, supposedly there is a kernel available that allows for sound. I have not tried this method out yet, so post your results if you try it out.
The speed shown on the images here is a little different from the boot animation. Last random thought, when your phone is starting up the user preferences for sound takes over after so long, makes it sound weird sometimes so I've tried to keep the sounds short.
To install simply
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/
or
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/
adb remount
and to test the animation without rebooting
Code:
adb shell
bootanimation
CTRL + C to end animation

This is a mix of the nexus animation and the Galaxy Nexus commercial. It is a HUGE (22Mb) zip, but I've tested it running CM7 and it works. Just makes the boot a little longer sometimes since it plays the entire cycle. Then it'll loop the nexus animation until boot. (No sound)
Mix-Match
Mix-Match 2 (smaller version, 15Mb. Slowed down a bit as well.)
This one is all icecreamisdrugs work, I updated it to CM7,cropped it to the right size and added the Power House music. Also added a newer version with more color.
CM Fill Up , CM Fill Up Multicolor
Combined HaLo2FrEeEk's Matrix with JaiRomeo's Neodroid JaiVatar
Red Matrix
I put a bunch of stuff together, android by JaiRomeo
Portal Smash Apple
No clue who initially made this one, I know it comes from a commercial overseas by SK Telecom originally. I swapped some frames around, mixed the sound, and threw together the G2x portion.
Bad Android
"Iron Droid" has 2 different .ogg files, chose you poison, then rename the one you want PowerOn.ogg
Design made completely by JaiRomeo, I just animated it.
Iron Android
I don't know who made this one, if you know please let me know so I can update this. Also, no sound.

I honestly don't know how to click "thanks" for this, but thank you!!

thanks for the credit. I believe the commercial is by SK Telecom.

HaLo2FrEeEk made a blue and a green matrix as well; if anyone wants me to blend them like the red one, let me know. I'm not going to bother with them otherwise. Also the red matrix file has a .mp3 file so you can preview and decide if you want to use that sound or not.

can these be used for shut down animations, and if so how do you do it.
anyone know?

No, you have to edit the images in the PowerOff.apk in /system/app I haven't played with those yet so I have no clue how difficult it is.
Funny note on that though, that .apk also contains Verizon images as well as LG images.

Curious, I just updated back to CM7 nighties. Where the hell do I put the PowerOn.ogg file now? I've tried recreating a directory called poweron in the system/media folder and the data/local folder. Anyone know?

I did the same thing and no luck

Edit: Never mind, nothing to see here. I can't reproduce my sound success

There is a thanks button at the bottom right of every post in the forum along with "quick reply" etc.

The last flame one doesn't fit the screen, its very small. Its def my favorite though, simple yet busy.

Weird...it worked when I tested it. I'll check it out again this weekend. It's been downloaded a lot too.

ok so i threw the bad android one on my phone and i get nothing like that....all i get is .....android, and its flashing across it from left to right?

Try redownloading. I'll download it and see whats up when I get a chance, multiupload may be screwing it up. Like the flame animation before you, this one has been download a metric butt ton and nobody has complained yet. I will look at it though

This is the only one I had sitting around for this animation.

I've tried to use a couple of these several times but keep getting just a flashing android instead of full animation. Are these not working? I'm using root explorer.

If I am using Weapons do I need to delete the bootanimation zip already in media?

The missing HTC boot animation for the Nexus One! UPDATED

Ok, it is not missing now but I since i like the hero booting animation so much i figured i can create similar/the same to the hero. let me know. Right now the animation is the nexus one with the androids and the HTC logo following it just like on the Hero. Later I will add a 2nd animation with the stock nexus animation to replace the HTC logo. Hope you guys like this better then the first one. Let me know what you think. I will try to make it better as I go. Then again this is my first animation.
Here is the preview with HTC logo:

Added the hero boot audio in case you are looking for it.
As usual adb push to /system/media/ or to /data/local/ if it doesn't work in media.
Sorry for the negative feedback, but I cant believe I wasted my time installing this...
I think it looks cool. I just don't have a Nexus One to Install it on.

Well yea I did too, but the animation is too fast, it doesn't light up like the hero one, and at the end - its just a weird Nexus logo going crazy switching colors and stuff. It's not what I expected at all..
I like the first part, and if it started with that, and then went into the standard boot animation (or even better, the cyanogenmod version) then I'd definitely flash it. And I agree with Eclair~ that is should maybe be a little slower, maybe more frames of animation?
I will change the 2nd part to the stock. As far as the cyan I can't really do it since that's his work. Not sure it is so fast I used the same amount of images as the stock. Hmm I will add more for the first part so it last long and then I will let go into the stock. I will work on this tomorrow.
awesome work man looks nice i rather missed my lil andy poppin out... and yes i just decided to name my android guy... Andy!

Thanks.
süper thank you very much
looks good and snappy to boot. thanks for your hard work
Nevermind, figured it out
This is now my permanent boot screen.
is it even possible to add audio (hero boot.mp3) to this using cm
cuz i tried pushing to system/media, putting in the bootanimation zip and in part0 no luck
any ideas??
I will add the audio but as far as i know the boot audio is not controlled by the bootanimation.zip. correct if i am wrong. I am using the desire rom and i've never had sound on but except on stock and cyanogen rom. I actually have the hero audio pushed on mine but no play if some1 knows what controlls the audio pls let me know.
i kno i heard sound way back when i flashed one of the early desire ports(sound effects of the quietly brilliant being drawn)
desire builds have a bootscreen folder in system/media and cm doesn't...so idk
This is the thing I missed most when I switched from my Hero.

Since I lost my data cable is there any way to push it manually on the phone?

..assuming the bootanimation.zip file is in the same directory as adb
adb remount
adb push /data/local/ bootanimation.zip
Or you can download the file on your phone and use something like boot explorer or SUFBS to move the file to that directory.

custom boot animation needs a sound clip...

i have this posted in the dev section as well under the how to bootscreen thread... but ill repost on here... hopefully to get more traffic and someone out there good with audio that can help me add a decent sound to this:

its an apple-zaper in case you cant figure it out... it is a 2 part sceeny but i didnt want to post it that way... part one is the zoomin EVO... part 2 is a cycle with apple bugs flyin and dyin by the evo...
EDIT:
rename applezap_bootanimation.zip as bootanimation.zip and push to phone reboot to see it do its thing... my phone zaps 2 iphones before it fully boots fresh rom it should keep looping till booted
ill also post the layered tif image file for this boot... <- if you download this you know what to do with it...
hmmmmm no one out there... with sound skills... wow... ok... ill guess keep waiting till i have time to create one...
i could try something... but first:
how long does the animation last?
how fast, aka. FPS?
does it loop?
the evo zooms in once and the the apple flying toward the evo loops... then again i can make it do anything... i can make more iphones fly towards it...
i can shoot you all the pngs that go into the bootanimation.zip ... but for some reason when i zip it up and create the dext.txt and push it to the phone it doesnt display right... so im trying to figure that one out right now...
edited the post before, but you posted before i submitted the edits... see above
this might help...
7 frames for EVO to zoom in
16 frames for apple-zap ...
20fps ~ 1.2sec first loop...
right now im trying to figure out how to zip without compression and make a proper dext.txt as soon as i figure that out ill have a functioning bootanimation.zip and then proper timing can be done... any help is appreciated...
how flexible are you with the timings? I can make something but you might have to tweak the animation to fit the effects.

No.
For the Evo, you'll want to create a sequence of images from the gif itself. You need to export the .gif file as a set of .png images.

Boot Animation Request

Hey everyone I was wondering if I could get someone to put together a boot animation for my Evo?
I would like to get the basic Droid logo where it spells it out like the widely known animation seen on the Incredible and Droid commercials, and the red eye while its loading. I also want the robotic voice that says Droid.
I would be willing to provide all the screens for it, and the sound file. I just don't know how to put it together to make it work.
If anyone is willing to help me it would be much apreciated.

I can do it for you. Actually, I have the majority of it done already. I've already created the sound bite and the red eye you're talking about. The only thing I would need to add is the Droid logo. But it wouldn't hurt if you provided me with a new set of files.
Here's a little bit of what I've created already.

Id love that exact boot animation, only saying HTC EVO instead of HTC Incredible..and having it only play "droid". Without the rest of the sound effects. I have no idea how to go about doing that though
Ok everyone. I have taken the incredible boot, removed all the incredible stuff and have optimized it for our phone. It should be ready tonight. I have fixed it so the red doesn't cut off in the box.

So much for your options.
Alright guys. Sorry it's taken so long. This is still a work in progress, however I figured most people would at least like to see what I've created and test it out for themselves, so I've decided to post it up.
Here's what the animation looks like:
Also, there is a soundbite that will accompany it, which is the regular "Drroooiiidd" everyone is familiar with. I've made it so that each time the animation loops, the sound is played. (Which can be annoying if you're not into that).
**Download the EvoRedEye folder -- Extract it first, then take the following files from inside the folder and place them both in your AndroidSDK\tools folder, then run the following command(s):
Code:
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource
adb push SPC_animation_final.mp3 /system/customize/resource -- optional
adb shell reboot
If you don't want the soundbite or it gets too annoying, you can choose not to install it or if you want to remove it; again run the following command(s):
Code:
adb shell
cd /system/customize/resource
rm SPC_animation_final.mp3
reboot
Like I said earlier, this is still a work in progress. This new bootscreen method is a little tricky and I've had to fool around for a couple of days just trying to get it this far. I'll continue updating and releasing new stuff though.
Feedback is always appreciated, thank you!

To make these bootscreens, you'll do:
1. Software (Gimp, Photoshop, Pain.net, etc)
2. Knowledge of how to create a .gif file or animation
3. Basic knowledge of ADB
And yes, you do have to be rooted.
To create bootscreens for the Evo, you'll need to create you animation in one of the following programs above, then you'll want to export your animation as a set of images, which should be .png. After you've created your animation, you need set specific values in the desc file. After all of that, you would zip up your animation into a file called bootanimation.zip

I flash this today. Right now. It flashed perfect. You might consider that the animation just says droid 3 times or something and it justs keeps doing the flashing image while it boots. Cause the droid sound is really good.

[Boot Animation] Android Scribble (optimized for incredible)

Original creation by Gla'DOS:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696193
Please use one of many instructions to push this boot animation to your phone.
Unzip the android_audio.zip and push the mp3 file.
Leave bootanimation.zip alone and push that file.
All credit goes to Gla'DOS, I only resized the images and added the audio. This runs smooth on my incredible, stock speeds UV.

Nope, all you need is a working SDK install, no root needed (you are pushing files onto non-protected parts of the file system). You can still foul up your phone, but would highly rare if you follow one of the many guides recommended by the OP.

cool beans. thanks for the help!
I downloaded SDK at the developers site. In the packages section it includes a bunch of stuff pertaining to 2.2. I don't want to download those correct?
It wouldn't harm/cause problems as far as using ADB, but you don't need them, so save that room for pr0n... because as everyone knows, Android is for porn!
Call me immature, but this video always makes me laugh =).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IraQfhlMwi4
What does it mean by PUSH item in SDK?
Works great, thanks a lot!
Flashable version
I could not get the animations to stick using adb, so I found a flashable boot animation and replaced the ani with the scribble ani.
Just flash in recovery. Works great!
Flare version here.
No audio on either. You can get that from first post.
(I take no credit for the animation or flashable files. I just put them together)
Maybe a red scribble instead of the green? Possible? Appreciate it if so.

Yeah should be easy pickings (what the hell, why did I type that?!). I need to wake up and drive to PA in a couple hours anyway, so this will give me something to do, thx!
Edit: Here you go, I hope this is what you were looking for. Even though I picked a colour I thought was red (I extracted a colour out of jonnybueno's Red Sense Theme), it turned out looking a bit orange on my screen. I am editing this on my personal laptop (which is not colour optimized, the hardware to do so is currently in storage as I make the move back to college), so if you'd like a different colour, just give me HEX code or provide an image you would like the colour of red to be extracted from. Take a look at the animation first though, maybe it's only orange-y on my screen.
Well...
I had nothing to do (besides watch Adult Swim) until daylight broke and I hit the road so I made a second attempt. It's better but it's still not where I would like it to be. Also I am noticing that the 2nd batch of images (the one that repeats) seems to be a shade darker than the intro images. Here is a comparison of the first "orange-y" images and the second, slightly less "orange-y" images. I'm going to leave it as-is for now. When I return tonight, if anyone has requested the exact colour of red they would like (like said before, in hex format or an image I can lift the colour from).
First Attempt:
Second Attempt:
Off I go! bb tonight, have a good week all! - DBG
I've made a red version of this but it has a spinning circle indicator!
I take no credit for it, I modifed it from the post here
Flash it with a recovery manager. Enjoy!

Call of Android Boot animation (UPDATE)

I have been a member since grabing the HD2 (US) and learned a lot from the developers here (I lurk and read). I have taken advantage of their knowledge and the the wiki, to which I thank everyone for all their work. Until recently I was always wanting to find a way to contribute back to the community and after getting the EVO, rooting, and messing around with some things I thought I would share the bootanimation I have been working on.
It is my very first one, so go easy, but I hope you enjoy. It is a little lengthy and the fps bogs down a little but I always wanted this to be my boot image. As usual, you assume all responsibility for any damage you do to your phone. If you need help, search, or shoot me a PM and I will be happy to answer questions when and where I can.
If you do happen to like my animation, awesome! I will take requests if anyone is interested and within the scope of my free time.
If you do not like my work, your entitled to your opinion, all I ask is for constructive criticism.
Hope you all enjoy!

UPDATE:
User Tiffany84 was so kind to make a complete package you can install from recovery for desire based roms. Also thank the user myn for posting the preview and link within the body of this thread. Thank you both for your help!

Here is a flashable zip. Just place on root of sd. Boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik. Then just flash like you would a rom. This has the sound included so you need to be on a sense rom in order to flash this because aosp roms don't have sound for the animation and the boot animation is located in a different place on a aosp rom.

Tiffany84 has come through again making a zip install from recovery for aosp roms, you can pick up this zip from the quote below:

This is a flashable zip of the bootanimation. This is for aosp roms only. This doesn't have the sound because I don't think it's possible to have sound for the bootanimation on a aosp rom. If your on a sense rom I have also uploaded a flashable version for sense roms that has the sound included. It's on page 3.

UPDATE 2:
Recently optomized the animation, original recipe, smaller file size for the new year's diet. Also tweaked the sound and its damn near perfect. The new animation seems to run a little smoother and quicker, but that could just be me.
*These are not flashable via recovery, you must use adb or copy them to your sdcard and move them to the proper system file directory. The flashable versions created by Tiffany84 are the previous version.
**User roscoenr has just uploaded flashable zips from recovery for either type of rom. You can find those on page 8 for anyone interested. Thanks for the help roscoenr!
Enjoy!

i will rock it when rls5 is dropped 2nite!
Great animation, good choice in using the World at War setting. I'll try it out once I get home.
Much appreciated.
THIS IS HOT!!!! I'm loving this. Will be flashing tonight!
Ive only tested this on my EVO so far. The HD2 is waiting for a new digitzer, I broked it.
If anyone tries this out without the audio let me know how the performance of the animation is, please and thanks.

Works Perfectly. Audio Isn't that off
That looks pretty slick man
Did you use an app for it or do the film effect by hand? I've been wanting to do something similar to that but I don't have the time to do it manually.

Basically I took the originally title screen movie for Call of Duty World at War and used it as a background template. Most of the film affects are from that video, the android logo's and text were screened in by hand with photoshop with the exception of a few orginal frames I had to throw in for consistency. The pain was when I output the frames to png format I had to change all the pictures file numbers by hand to get them in order, not once, or twice, but 6 times because of trial and error. I swear I can type adb commands in my sleep now as well lol.
Typing the correct numbering "animation_00001, animation_00002" and so on is a pain lol Looking forward to the need for speed challenge now
I have created an HD video of how it would look like on the phone. The Audio Might Slightly Be More Off Than It Should.

Edit: Rebooted my phone and found out I did the audio wrong.
This is awesome.. Tried both with and without sound and it's sweet either way.. Prob gonna stay with the sound for now...
Swyped from my myn powered evo using the XDA app... Become a mynion..you won't regret it!
How do I apply this to my Evo..i want to try this out
Swyped by Gatordon & his Evo
shoulda put apple apples on the axis soldiers heads and android heads on the allied heads lol
ok, noob questions. Is this flashable, if not how do I install it cause I'm loving it and want it BAD. Excellent work dude.
Been trying to flash this but I keep getting this message in recovery while trying to flash it "can't find update script". Anyone have any idea on this?
