Care to share what you figured out? Just curious.

I'm guessing he changed his screen density and it didn't brick his phone. I usually set mine to 220 by changing the build.prop file with es file explorer and it doesn't seem to mess anything up.
just curious
Sorry eefor the noob question but what is the benefit advantage to change screen density? Thanks

Use adb, pull /system/build.prop (I think build.prop is in /system, not 100% sure though)
Edit the lcd density using a text editor, push the file back using adb then reboot.
When i first came from my evo to the nexus the first thing i noticed was how the screen had a yellow tint. that was easy enough to solve but one thing that i cannot figure out is how to make dark images look better all my wallpapers look like they are blown way up and look like ****. OP why didnt you just buy an iphone in the first place?
I'm not sure what the second problem you're having is, but if its what I think it is, download quickpic from market and use that to set your wallpapers. Lemme know if you see a difference.

Did you find the thread for the best voodoo settings. Following the settings provided there really helped with the banding on dark colors. Basically changed the contrast.

I looked at that thread but i cannot find a damn kernel that will let me edit all of those settings. all it will let me change is the color profiles. and i really dont want a kernel that uses deep idle.
Deep Idle isn't a problem since you can disable it.

Hey guys I came from a thunderbolt a few months back but something I miss is the ability too have splash screens which instead of the HTC logo you can have your image.now my question is how can we remove the Samsung boot image and change it to our liking
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
explain what you mean by splash screen please... if it is the boot animation, then any humble ROM has its own. just make sure to clear all the cache's before flashing.

He's talking about the black screen that says "Samsung" I think. I used to change this all the time on previous phones but never even thought of changing it on this one yet. Good idea though! Gonna look into this and see what I can come up with.
Exactly thanks spc

So can I change that to whatever I want or does it have to be a certain size or is it connected to other files is why it was said it cant be changed? I see in photoshop it can use or create .png files. I took the samsung.jpg and copied it to my sdcard but it doesnt see it. I did it straight to the sd card and then to a folder. Guess Ill have to play around with it more. Dang lol I need to learn photoshop. I have the logo opened but need to change the backround and type. Guess Ill use a different program to create then import and adjust.

It looks like it's going to be almost impossible to change it and here some things I noticed about trying to change it:
1. File size has to stay the same.
2. You can't rename the original logo.jpeg to anything else. If you do, it will revert back to logo.jpeg automatically.
I only increased the file size by 11kb and it will not take. You will keep getting the error that there is not enough disk space left.
I'm going to try to remove a system app or 2 and see if that makes any difference.

I used and found this mod in the Sprints Galaxy S3 forum. I did not see this posted here so I wanted to share this. I take no credit for this. This was done by Freeza and by s3.Zeke.
What you have to do is use an app like root explorer and change the following lines in /system/csc/feature.xml
Edit the following:
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>false</CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
Change the "false" to true. Save the changes and exit.
Reboot your phone and now you can toggle if you want shutter sound in options.
Remember you have to reboot your phone or it will not show up.

An easier way, for me was:
Open Root Explorer
Navigate to System>media>audio>ui
Mount R/W
Scroll down to 'Shutter.ogg'
Rename to 'Shutter.ogg.bak'
Profit!
I've done this on both stock and Beans B14. I haven't tried it on AOSP, so the file structure may be different, but the idea is the same. (The file was called 'Camera_shutter.ogg' on the Thunderbolt.)

While this idea turns the sound off, you have to go through all the steps to change it every time. The OP's way allows you to toggle it on and off inside the camera's options. So you wouldn't need to go through all the steps every time you want to turn it on or off.

I installed the 'HE' ROM, and made the changes above.
The settings menu is not showing the sound toggle, although the device was rebooted and the 'true' value is confirmed.
Was working on G7 previously.
I'll retry.
Update:
Working
That's crazy. So Verizon actually removed that option with the update? I can't even think of anyway that would benefit them. I can confirm the T-Mobile version still has it on the latest update. Bizarre.

Its not a matter of benefit its a matter of perverts taking pictures and video with no one knowing. Its actually illegal in some states to disable the sound due to these retards that cant get their own woman and have to take pictures and video home to their computers to wack it too.

Funny thing is if your phone is in vibrate mode the camera does not make a sound anyway...

Easy! I find the shutter sound annoying. And illegal? No way when every other s3 has it as an option.
Glad I found this, works great. Still crazy they would turn off this option.

Thanks for this, works great on MA2! Just a note, make sure you properly set permissions of the saved feature.xml file. ES typically created a backup of the original file, and doesn't properly set permissions on the new edit, and this mid won't work until you correct that.
