Im running the latest MIUI. How come my battery is draining so fast? and Cell Standby is using all the battery power. Any tips?
When I was on miui was actually when I had the best battery life. Not sure what to tell you. Did you follow the install instructions in the miui thead?

The weird thing Is I had awesome battery till my friend used some "battery calibration" app.. Now its a no go for me.. what should I do?
I recommend you wipe and reflash the rom. Clear dalvik and bat stats.

I have a question about battery calibration.
After I deleted batterystats.bin, the meter seems to be working fine (prior to deletion, battery meter was not correct - for example, only 50% battery was remaining, but battery meter would be around 70%.
Anyway, do I have to calibrate battery each time I flash new/upgrade ROM?
I've been changing to different ROMs frequently nowadays to find best battery ROM. So I was wondering if I have to calibrate battery each time I flash new ROM.
Thank you!
Honestly I dont think it matters much. I've heard arguments both ways but what I do is I calibrate when I first get me phone (or a new battery) and thats it. I get great battery like even going between roms

You MUST delete the battery stats.bin everytime you flash a new rom

I don't agree with the word must. It would be a good thing after a few flashes but EVERY time is not needed.

Um.. no. theres a proper way to caliberate the battery.
If that was the case then I'd be wiping my battery stats everyday because of CM7 nightlies
But yeah, I'd probably say just do it if you feel that your battery life is awful. Maybe once every 3-5 months? I've had the NS since it first came out and I haven't wiped my battery stats. Battery life is still amazing, so I don't know.
IB]after flashing to cm7.2 rc5 battery is draining very quickly. Any suggestions for that plz. Waiting......

Try to calibrate the battery...
go into CWM and choose clear battery stats.
Try to reduce the screen brightness and don't use widgets too much..
Also don't use the vibrate mode..

Download Battery Calibration and follow the instructions:
And do on the advice of "vijayanandssj4": "Dude u have to calibrate the battery immediately after flashing custom roms..u can wipe battery stat or else remove battery for 4-5 min and then reinsert it..thats enough it helped me hope it helps u"
i don't think battery calibration is necessary every-time....
Infact, I've never ever felt the need to calibrate my battery even once in last 6 months.

Yes. I agree, but those who have not worked so far, they can apply what I wrote.
Just wanted to ask what are you guys experiencing in battery drain, like from your log "if you kept a log of your battery using currentwidget" i read another thread where the regular and normal battery drain should be around "3-10mA" per minute anything above it is abnormal battery drain. i got a regular 66-70mA per minute battery drain after logging it for 2 hours.
just wanna know if im the only one getting this
THANKS!
if you guys can and want to participate in checking your battery drain just do the ff.
download "Current widget" from the app market and log your battery.
and you can view it. i suggest when you log. go into sleep mode for atleast an hour without touching you phone.
post your results!
thanks!
I would suggest first to do a super wipe and do a fresh install of the ROM also wipe your battery stats in recovery second I would not use the widget I would just track your usage in settings then see

i did a clean boot of my rom yesterday. noting installed but my current widget. and after 2 hours i still got a reading of 54-60 mA per minute. but il try again later. but does using apps like battery calibration not work as well as just wiping the battery stat in recovery?
Wiping battery stats DOES NOT improve battery life.... http://www.xda-developers.com/android/google-engineer-debunks-myth-wiping-battery-stats-does-not-improve-battery-life/
P.S. I have the same problem, and a clean install doesn't help....
Hello,
I am trying to install some custom ROMS onto my phone and I just found one that I want to use. But I did read something that you should recalibrate your battery after installing custom ROMS. Is this true?
And my 2nd question is how to do this. Because I found an app: "Battery Calibration", but I don't know if this will do the trick. I know you can calibrate the battery with Clockwork too, but is this the same as the app?
Thanks in advance
Mathi
The purpose of recalibrating the battery is too get an accurate estimate of battery life. When you switch roms the processor usage changes. Your cell phone doesn't recognize this though and continues to estimate according to the old ROM usage.
I don't know about the apps, i've always done it the manual way.

battery Cal.
this app works if you follow the 3 steps, charge to 100% then calibrate it unplug your phone then let it discharge fully then when you recharge it don't unplug it until it hit 100% for the second time then you should notice a slight improvement in your phones battery life i am sure the app and cwm method are similar, but with this app you should have no problem its really easy to use, hope this helped, happy tweakin

How do you do it manually? Let it complete drain out and fully charge ?
From the recovery menu.

All sources have said that Battery Calibration is reliable.
Also keep in mind that with Li batteries, every time the battery dies, its life is shortened by a small amount; therefore, every time you drain it completely, you're actually losing a little bit of battery life.
Other than that, I would be that Google can pull up quite a few results.
According to Google dev blog, wiping batterystats.bin is unnecessary and is in fact useless. You can Google for the link....

Not necessary at all, when you charge your battery 100% its already calibrated (status refreshed)
I've been using the battery calibration app ever since I started flashing ROMs and have done it every time I flash a new ROM. Can honestly say I notice a difference. Not always immediately as its advised to do a couple of full drain recharges before assessing your battery life
Ever since I flashed this rom my battery life has been terrible. Do I need to recalibrate my battery or is just the normal battery life? I have a galaxy s 2.

Try cement : advanced : wipe battery stats
I'm having the same problem. I had illusion xT 1.8, it was somewhat slow so I decided to try ICS. I did a full wipe (wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe battery stats) and loaded PureICS. As soon as I loaded the new rom my battery started draining at an alarming speed, if I didn't start charging I would lose 1% almost every minute idle (just connected to WiFi). I went to Batter under the Settings menu and I had Internet at 33% (the browser wasn't running), Google Services at 21% and Screen at 18%. Before, with illusion xT, the Screen was the biggest drainer.
I searched the ROM thread and some advised on using the Siyah kernel. Should I do that? What's the procedure? I saw that I can use Odin or CWM, which one should I use?
Should I try something else?
Thanks!
