i had a look at this comparing site:
http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=3&idPhone1=3621&idPhone2=3275&idPhone3=3619
U see that there's a huge difference!
Is this also cause by the software?
Is there any app, that saves pictures uncompressed (bmp, raw)?

No, the camera on Android phone produces jpeg before it forwards the files to Android storage API. You can only adjust (reduce) the quality of the jpeg files which would not improve the quality of the image files, unfortunately.

Hi all, Captivate user here, provided 2.1 OS.
The camera app seems to name pictures with this sort of naming scheme:
2010-08-27 08.08.38.jpg
That SPACE is making a mess for me when copying photos to various file systems, servers, or other things that just don't like a space.
Is there any way to change how Android names camera pictures? Help! Thanks,
Hey guys
i have a samsung omnia w running mango(AKA: Focus flash i667) and i have noticed that photos and pics i have synced to the phone are blurry. even if its native 800 x 480 pixels. if i place the same image as wallpaper, its sharp
any ideas?
Are you sure the photo is fully loaded (usually only happens when viewing something from cloud storage)?
yes its on the phone, it was synced via zune, the slightest pinch make it all sharp again
no one?
Yeah, this is my experience too. My explanation is that the gallery uses compressed thumbnails, and only when you zoom in does the full picture get loaded.

thats exactly what i thought, i did the reg hack to show the device as portable device in windows explorer in an attempt t see if there we thumbnails created in the sync process, found nothing , so it must be stores somewhere else? :C. i am guessing this is the fault of the sync process, i did copy the image straight into the portable device via windows explorer, by passing zune, and the image looked sharper
but when you do that, you wont see the thumbnail preview when you go into gallery
any one know of any zune hacks to create high quality thumbnails?
ok so here is my fix,
1. Convert the phone to a portable device
http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2010/11/18/use-your-windows-phone-7-device-as-a-portable-usb-drive/
2. Copy over images straight to your device, without using zune. you might get a warning saying image may not open on your device, ignore it and copy it anyway
Note: do not have the image too big, try somewhere below 1600x1200, as too big an image will case it to look weird. hope it helps, and let me know it goes guys
Hi,
I was on a vacation and used the LG 360 Cam heavily. I was so excited with the pictures & videos I took and tried to download all of them from the cam's microsd and not realize that they were actually downloaded and saved to my internal memory until I got the popup saying that my internal memory is full.
Have been trying to find any setting to change the path to my microsd instead of internal memory but couldn't find one. Already provided my feedback in app store to ask the same thing and also dropped an email to the author but received no response so far.
Is there any of this forum member can advise if we can change the path somehow? Thanks.
Have you tried manually moving the files with a file explorer like es file explorer?
Sent from my LG-H830 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I have scoured the camera settings in the app and haven't found the ability to save to the SD Card.
As mentioned above, I've been manually moving the to the SD Card using Astro, tough I have been meaning to test Redirect File Organizer to see if that might do it for me automatically.

Moving the files manually is possible using stock gallery app but only after I downloaded to internal memory. I'm avoiding a condition where my internal memory is full so I can download directly to microsd in my phone.

Yep - figured this out last night. No SD Card support for this app. I'll keep looking.
After leaving the review in playstore I also dropped an email to the developer and received a reply just now telling me that it will be supported in October.. let's see
the app just updated with some new stuff and it mentions something about other storage, and the cam also has an update but i still do not see sd options
it says support adoptable storage for download image/vids

I was able to edit the photos and videos from the 360 cam I have made a video about it here
https://youtu.be/wszkGqhooxE
Also Fyi there is a new firmware and app update which seems to have improved the quality of the images a bit as well as introducing an interval meter (timelapse) which is cool in 360 for that I used adobe premiere but the results where great

Did it work
Hi, just ordered a Pixel 2 and hoping someone can clarify some things for me:
If I copy pictures from my computer onto the phone then use Google Photos to back up said pictures, will they be max quality or will they be recognised as not being taken on the actual phone?
Or better yet, will my Google account be associated with the phone so I can just upload photos using the Photos app directly from my computer keeping the max quality?
Thanks for your help!
Did you find the answer to this? I'm also wondering.

I have been told that it's based off the EXIF data on the Pixel 2. I don't know for sure if that's true, but what I've been told when asking a similar question.
I'd talk to the 24/7 Google support that you can use in the settings.
Thanks for your responses. I could also give it a try when the phone arrives and compare the file sizes
It's only photos taken on the phone. So much for using Google photos as my main backup service
I copied all the digital pictures I've ever taken (50GB+) onto my pixel 2 and they all uploaded at original image size without taking up any space.... only took a week to do

If only I had the time... I've got well over 500GB of photos and videos already backed up to Google Photos and can't imagine the time it would take to transfer them this way.

You can back up photos to Google photos from any amount tied to your Google account. But original size photos from pixel. Otherwise it's reduced size
Sent from my Pixel 2 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I backed up images from 10+ devices and they were all original image sizes. 14MB+ files from my Lumia 1020 are still 14MB+ files on google drive and they are taking up 0MB space. You just have to copy the folders into the dcim folder on your phone and let it back them files up.
Hi,
Google camera stores photos in subdirectories of DCIM/Camera using this naming convention:
IMG_<date>_time>
Can I change this by means that any photo should be stored in a single file in DCIM/Camera?
THX

Me and i guess all the other members are not really understanding what your issue is.
You are right with the info how Google Camera stores pictures. Also every picture is a singe file?!
When you are referring to the portrait shots (which are stored as 2 diffrent pics), yes, this is not the best solution by google, but also, no they cant be stored in a single file becasue .jpeg limitations.

Actually my request is this:
I don't want Google Camera to store pictures in sub-directories.
Instead all pictures should be stored in /DCIM/Camera.
However I assume this is not possible.
Therefore I want to address this question: What's the technical reason for storing pictures in sub-directories?
THX

All my pictures I took yesterday are stored in /DCIM/Camera/IMG_20200329_<time>/, all pictures I take today are stored in /DCIM/Camera/IMG_202003230_<time>/.
Why is this?
Can I change setting to store all pictures in /DCIM/Camera/?

I think you are confusing file names with folders. All your pictures are stored in /DCIM/Camera. The "IMG_202003230_<time>" is the filename of the picture. Maybe just Open an file explorer and see yourself.
Anyway, see my attached picture. All your shots are in 1 folder.
At this point I don't even jnow if you are just trolling.
I can assure you: this is not a fake.
For your reference I have attached a screenshot that displays the content of /DCIM/Camera.
This should make it very clear:
There are only sub-directories in which the pictures taken are stored.

Yes, i see. But the reason those are stored in folder is because they are portrait shots. So google camera makes a folder and there it stores 1. portrait shot with background blur and 2. portrait without background blur.
I also mentioned it in one of my first answers. I mean there could be a better implematation, but i think this is ok. Theres no way storing both of these files in 1 file. This is good, because afterwards you can still decide if you want the background blur or not.
Just do normal snaps and they will be not in a folder. Just files.
Anyway, whats your trouble with this?
You can use Gcam Tool if you want the portrait photos to be moved in DCIM/Camera folder
