[ROM] CyanogenMod 7.0.3 - Enhanced Upload Speeds? - HTC Inspire 4G

I'm impressed. I don't have a flashed radio and this is just what I'm getting from the stock ROM. Anyone else getting these results?

Ps. All radios are flashed one way or the other.
Sent using XDA Premium

Moved to general as not andorid development.

Have you not been getting those speeds on any previous CM 7.X?
Since 7.0, I've averaged about 4.2 down, 1.25 up.

i'm on 7.0.2 now and am still only getting capped .33 upload. It looks the the pre OTA stock radio in on. I also tried the APN fix and still no speed increase. I ran speed test side by side with my wife's inspire, she is non rooted stock and her speeds after OTA are way faster than mine on 7.0.2. Should I flash 7.0.3, will this fix it?

Unlikely. CM7.0.2 already has the proper settings to enable HSUPA, and you said you updated your APNs. I suggest starting over by installing the updated rooted stock RUU (the one that uses the P98IMG.zip/bootloader method). This will also flash your radio to the newest stock. Verify that your upload speeds are good, then do a full wipe, install CM7.0.3 and do my APN config or perform the fix in id10terrordfw's thread. You should be good to go after all that.

You won't have to do anything to get your speeds back. By flashing back to the updated stock RUU this will reflash your radio at the same time and fix whatever HSUPA issues you somehow created for yourself (no disrespect intended; these things happen Once you've confirmed your speeds are good again then you can flash away to whatever ROM you like and you won't have to worry about the radio causing slow speeds again (once you flash to another radio then all bets are off again, although I've never seen a radio flash cause loss of speeds for me personally). Any slowness issues at this point will be ROM related.
The ROM in the link I provided is already rooted, so this should answer your "will I lose root" question.

Your gratefully helpful. Good man. I just flashed the ruu and guessing ill stick with the newer radio. I was going to flash coredroid 6.0 or Adams new cm7 based Rom again. Question is ,do I do a full wipe and data format like I'm used to? I'm hitting back at 4.1mbps here in my home. Kinda wanting to keep my speeds lmao

Yes, do a full wipe and install whatever ROM you want. If you lose your speeds, you'll have to tweak the ROM (for example, tweak your APNs from my thread here or follow the fix at id10terrordfw's thread here.) In my market, every single custom ROM runs slow (cell data) unless I have the APNs configured as in my thread.

Ok well in id10terrordfw's thread, wouldn't flashing the radio AGAIN and flashing the ril files ruin what flashing the ruu did for me?

Sorry I wasn't being very consistent. Flashing radios doesn't normally cause the issues you were seeing - but when it does, flashing the RUU usually fixes the problem. Now that you've flashed the updated RUU/radio and your speeds are good, you should be able to reflash that radio again and not lose your speeds; as a matter of fact you might actually gain some speed with the proper APN's, the new stock radio and matching RIL file (which all comes with id10terrordfw's fix). I just mentioned that warning because I've seen some people have the same problems that you did after flashing their radios. But 98% of the time, trying out a few different versions of the radios doesn't cause the huge slowdown you were seeing before.

I get 5mb sometimes, orlando FL

Anything different in flashing this? Just go through clockwork, wipe and update? Also, and this is a general question, not necessarily pertaining to this ROM...If I flashed a ROM that updated/changed the kernel (like Syndicate Full), do I need to flash back to a different kernel before changing ROMs?
Thanks in advance.
Awesome I first started with your rom and loved it, I switched because it was getting mostly theme changes. Now I seyou have a froyo rom I'm comming back.

Just posted the flashing instructions to the first post.
Nice, been running the first version and it's definitely had the best battery life out of all the froyo roms I've tried (prob 4 or 5)
I remember someone from the other topic saying something about double clicking space not inserting a period and no auto-correction but I'm not having those problems. Might have been fr a different rom tho.

Shouldn't need to. As long as you have the latest modem.
if youve done it initially for any dk17 rom you dont need to again because this is based of of dk17
Confused question, I have the dk17 is that the modem? Or where can I look to see if I have it

Pretty sure you need to wipe because 2.1 and 2.2 are almost completely differant. And if not it would be a good precaution to do so.

Another thing I have noticed with these FroYo ROMs is that if you leave the keyboard open the keyboard lights randomly turn on and off (whether its plugged in or not), anyone else notice that? I am wondering if this happens with the keyboard closed and possibly be a parasite draining the batt when not actively using the phone?

Am I last G2X owner on Froyo???

I want to update GB and new baseband but since I heard so many horror stories about bricking the phone through official update, I still do not dare to try. Besides, I live in Europe and if I bricked the phone it's kinda problematic to return in to the States.
Am I last G2X owner on Froyo???
Nope, i am running stock froyo just rooted and modified to my liking withbout any bloat ware or the OTA software. I havent upgraded because my phone runs like a champ the way it is. Just the other day i was playing Metal Gear Solid with FPSE downloading a torrent with aDownloader while connected to wifi and playing Pandora. Granted i have a 3500mah battery which make this possible with out killing the battery.
Lol i just did the update today via OTA no way in hell am i going to touch the lg tool that bricked phone left and right. I new baseband offers a great deal of stability to signal and allows me to get nearly full bars anywhere i go. do the OTA update instead of the lg tool, much safer and a lot easier.

The phone as a whole is a lot quicker now than what it was with froyo imo even when rooted, which right now is the big downside as i can't seem to get this damn thing to root!
Also NVFLASH apparently roots the device now, so no need for superoneclick. I just put CM7 on it!
It's really up to you, but I'd say the ones with horror stories with the official update are in the minority. The entire process is straightforward, painless and lasts about 10mins. Plus the benefits from Gingerbread outweight the cons imho (like the crappier camera) Ofcourse, If you're completely satisfied with your Froyo installation then my best advice is to not try to fix what you precieve as not being broken.

You don't have to root it. Just go to the dev section and flash xboarder's pre-rooted stock since you have nv-flash already.

i was on froyo before yestarday
i just updated my g2x with lg upate tool, without any problems, but now i can't root it (cause there is no solution still..)
p.s i didn't knew anything about GB update.. made update and got 2.3.3
anyone know how can i root it?
I'm still rockin froyo on Fauxs kernel and ultimate rom lol
As for rooting I thought Superoneclick had GB break on it? If not then you need to do xboarders on top of stock GB to get root. Atleast that's as far as I read on the forums.

A search button? Never heard of that before...
To be honest, the method is in pretty much every ROM thread in the dev section.
On another note, my update went through perfectly fine. It did stop at 4% and then restart, then got hung up at 5% for a couple minutes, but I left it there and it got going again. If you want to give yourself the greatest chance of success, I would say reverting to stock 2.2 (I uses tgagunman's nandroid), reverting to stock recovery, and removing root before updating probably helps. It may not be necessary, but I haven't heard as many stories of it not working using that process.
I'm rocking stock ROM + debloated + Faux UV kernel with my own profiles.
Running like a champ and great battery life. The best thing? GPS connects instantly

Do u have a sim card from at&t. If so, 9020t will only give u edge. You need to buy 9020a to give u 3g with at&t.
Flashing different radios might enhance you network and wifi reception. You shouldn't be stuck on edge unless your area has a poor reception or u bought the wrong phone.
No, I'm on T-Mobile. Have a T-Mobile sim.

What is your radio version?
you might be on the wrong radio band after the switch. try dialing *#*#4636#*#* and going to phone information. from there, push menu, choose select radio band, and choose USA band. you could also try choosing automatic, but that never seems to work for me.
Baseband is I9020XXKD1. I flashed the radio that was in the 2.3.6 update, which is obviously not for this model. I've flashed every 9020T radio and still only on edge.

Hi matt. I pulled it from a .zip and fastboot flashed it. Coming from sprint and the ns4g I wasn't familiar with the differences in the GSM versions.

try these two things, since you flashed the tmo radio already..
1. pull the battery for 3 minutes then boot up.
2. connect to wifi, let data go through for a few minutes, turn wifi off.
im assuming that you wiped your dalvik too.
Also. Check the radio guide by window7 in development section. Its tells you how to retrieve 3g back when flashing a new radio. Might help

I found something I don't like, if using a tethering app as soon as the screen shuts off so does the data connection. Any ideas besides keeping screen on all the time?

So at least with WIFI tethering even the stock t-mobile rom needs the screen on to keep the data connection alive. They even provided a option just to keep the screen on.

In reality with the old version you could absolutely turn the screen off and keep data/tethering alive. I burned 12gbs/ data tethering on my OneS doing this.
2 big differences with this OTA I noticed are unable to modify my APN for work around tethering and switches down to 2G a lot when it didn't used to.
Yeah...works just like Euro for me...wake phone, grey signal bars, market download stalled, no email notifications. Guess we're going to have to put our faith in the CM guys to figure this one out.

I had all of these problems on stock ROM. Replacement phone helped with signal fluctations but Wi-Fi still isn't usable work. This wasn't fixed for me on EU radio either, but I will try this one. But even if the issue is fixed, not sure if screen off no data is worth working wifi.
Edit: Something minor, but the update zip says EU radio.
New radio seems to work fine for me with screen off... let it sit with screen off for awhile to make sure it was in deep sleep and sent myself a text (I use Google voice which uses data to transmit) from my computer and it went through almost instantly. I'm running CM10 from today and flashed in TWRP.

The script does say flashing eu. Radio
I am getting slightly better speeds by 3mbs more than what I would get before flashing the new radio. I am using the tweaks. 24/6/2 or sonething like that.
I'll report back after work how the deep sleep is.

2.40 is much faster compare to previous version...
Hell yea Im downloading right now! THANKS
Just did a pretty quick test for radios on CM10 for Rogers in Toronto.
5 tests. No moving from location. Tests are all within 10 minutes.
2.29 O2 Radio Average
38.06 mb/s DL
18.30 mb/s UL
2.40 Telestra Radio Average
37.13 mb/s DL
14.18 mb/s UL
So, I'm sticking with the O2 one.

Same here in SD....Battery life might be better with 2.4 though. Only time will tell.
Radio & Radio + RIL (for all you non CM10'ers) are in the OP on the radio thread.

can you clarify the phrase "new hboot" users? i've tried to flash this ROM and another you've posted and neither would boot up. i'm on an HTC Dev unlocked hboot 1.09 and currently running CleanROM 5. i'm obviously missing an important step here and appreciate any help you can provide. thanks!

if you are on 1.09 you should be fine....not sure why it didnt boot up for you on 2.33 .....
are you using twrp?...try get the lastest version...or maybe try to manually flash the boot.img with fastboot.
by new hboot users i'm referring hboot that's higher than 1.11..which was started with ruu 2.20...and above
give a try with 2.40...let me know if you have problems..

yes, i'm using TWRP 2.2.2.0
tried that as well; extracted the boot.img from the zip file you posted and flashed via fastboot command, still didn't boot. before installing the ROM, i also wiped/formatted system, but after flashing the boot.img and reflashing the ROM, it still doesn't boot. anyway, thanks again for the quick reply.

ok, finally got it to work. redownloaded the zip verified the MD5 (original and second download verified) and copied to my device. reflashed (again) and it booted. i suspect the file copied to my device was corrupted. apologies for not checking md5 on my device prior to asking for help. flamesuit in place!
OK so I just flashed the radio only and off tops I can tell the difference in battery life! I'm in DC and my signal is still booming! I'm waiting for the rom to finish downloading!

have you guys been able to establish an LTE mobile internet connection using this ROM? i've created the at&t PTA (LTE) settings as they were with CleanROM and no luck. other than that, it's very fluid for a stock version. kuddos to niceppl for making this available!

I can confirm LTE isnt working. You can toggle lte off under mobile settings , and hspa+ will work. I remember this happened on another stock rom and the problem (IIRC) was with the apn settings in the framework. Hopefully it gets patched soon
Try this.

No, the settings are all correct and the phone even connects... Shows 4G and under mobile network the Status is "connected" , but the browser or anything that uses the internet fails right away.
Its a rom problem. Thanks for your help, though
---------- Post added at 06:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:30 PM ----------
Found the issue.
The radio attached to the first post is to blame.
I rolled back to a backup I had and the problem persisted. Rolling back to an at&t radio should fix it.

Actually, please don't. I tried using an at&t radio and it did NOT fix the issue. I figured it would since the telstra radio also wouldn't work on my nandroid-restored rom. However, on this rom, either one won't work.
