I'm using Opera Mobile on WM6.5
I want to open tabs in backgound like middle-click a link in IE/Firefox/Chrome. Is it possible to do that? I looked through Opera:config and find nothing related.
Any one can tell me is it possible?
is there anyone know how to do it?
Click-and-hold on the link then select "Open in a new tab"

thanks two-face, but what it will do is open in FOREGROUND not background. I have to switch back to the origin tab, which is quite annoying when trying to open a couple of links from a search result page.
I'm asking for a tweak or hack to make "Open in a new tab" work in background.
Since no working workaround is replied I'm presuming it is IMPOSSIBLE to open a new tab in background in Opera Mobile 9.5.
im interested to find out as well. its really annoying having to switch back to the old tab all the time

Opera Mobile official thread
Have a look on general section on the official opera mobile thread
perhaps there you can find your answer
Good luck,
Interested in the answer as well. Also, is there a way to remove the max tabs limit?

type "opera:config" in the url box without the "s. Its somewhere there, i forgot where specifically so take your time and look around a little. It says "maximum number of tabs allowed" or something, and mine's set to 8.

Just thought I should be specific. Type "opera:config" in the url box. Scroll down, tap on "User Prefs". Scroll down and look for Maximum Allowed Tabs. Change the number to your liking, scroll down somemore and tap save.
also interest in the anwser too

How did you get it to work? I've searched everywhere but can't find any info.
Hello all,
I tried to search for this question here and on Google, but with no success. I have a possibly dumb question about using the built-in Opera browser. It stores user names and passwords to be able to log on to your favorite sites more easy. So far, so good ...
But, how do I recall these passwords with the finger keyboard on HD2? When I go to a page with a stored user name / password pair, I can see the respective input fields surrounded by a yellow box. So, the detection of these fields seems to be working ok. What do I have to do now on the screen to get the values filled in? I tried double-tap, tap and hold and all kinds of sliding movements ... nothing works for me. Neither the HD2 manual, nor the Opera Mobile website says anything to this.
Is there someone who knows how this is supposed to work? Any hint is appreciated ...

Whenever I let Opera remember a username/password combination for me, it automatically fills them in for me whenever I visit the site. The page needs to be completely loaded before it does it, but other than that it just works for me.

You are right, I checked with some other sites. Unfortunately it doesn't work with the site I wanted to use it preferably. Which by the way is my web mail provider, GMX (www.gmx.de). So, it must have to do with the structure of their page. Still don't know why that happens, but thanks for your hint!
i hope the administrator of this forum let post this thread, i ve seen many people wondering and asking so often about this topic, so thats why i decided to open this thread
.
Via Mobile: well, directly on your mobile, the only thing you can do is mark the location you want as "starred", just touch for 2 seconds on the spot or place you want to mark, it will load the address, when the address shows up, then tap on it, after that, look for a little "star" symbol located on the upper-right corner, tap it, and it will turn into yellow color (the bad thing about this is you cannot add a name or description for it)
.
Via computer: you can mark and save all the locations you want through google maps on your pc, just log in your google account, then go to google maps, look for the place you want to mark, when you find it, just click on "my maps", and after that, click on "create new map", when you click on "create new map", some buttons to mark that place will show up, choose the button with the "push pin" drawing, and get that "push pin" on the place you want, type the name of that place and a description, save it
after some seconds take your mobile, go to "maps", then go to "layers", now to "more layers", and finally click on "my maps", and viola, all the places you have marked via your computer will be there
on your pc also you can see the places you have marked as "starred" with your mobile in case you need them to mark them better with a "push pin" by using your pc
Thankxxx buddy, real help forwarded by u, had this prob, and was dredging for it...

you will have to search for an adress, and when a marker on the map appears at this adress, tap the marker, then tap the icon in the right side that looks like a man in a suit. you will now enter Streetview at a point that is the nearest to the adress you entered
was searching everywhere for this, ud think google woulda made it more easier ot find
Great help.
That's what I was wondering about - how to add my own places on a map.
So the only way is to do it through a PC. Bleeeh...
Any one knows how we could mail to Google and ask them to add this feature into the mobile apps?
Do you know the service mail?
Thanks.
Is there a way to change the user agent in the default browser? I saw in another forum that it should be in the settings menu, but I don't see it.
it's only in settings on a modded browser. just go up to the address bar and typ "about:useragent" (no quotations). a window will pop up and you can use one of the presets or make a custom one.

Thanks, that worked, BUT....it doesn't seem to remember the settings. I'll set the user agent to desktop, but as soon as I close Web and then open it and go to Facebook, it takes me to the mobile site...

that's normal. you can probably find a modded browser with user agent in the settings page in the android dev section (not phone specific, just search all of xda) there may also be a galaxy s specific version in the vibrant or captivate or i9000 forums
I can't seem to figure out how to turn off mobile websites. I can't stand it I need full websites.
Also is there a way to put an actual fm radio on here so it doesn't use data?

Look up how to change your user agent for the web thing.
Short answer for the FM radio is no.
Sorry.

Open your browser and type in about:debug and hit go.
Then hit the menu button and select "settings".
Scroll down to the bottom where it says "User Agent" and tap that, selecting Android, Desktop, or iPhone.
Still wont work for some websites. Check trigger errors in the debug output for more information.

I may try that but I downloaded opera and set it as default and I actually like it. so may just stick with it.
Skyfire browser also gives you the option to switch between Android (mobile websites) and Desktop (full websites).

Most sites also give you the option to switch to full... You'll usually find that at the bottom.
Sent From my Two Tin Cans & String Device on The Wookie Network
thats how i usually do it, some sites have that option at the bottom.
i thought i remember somewhere an app maybe that will allow the websites to be viewed in full, but cant remember where.
I know when i tether my laptop to my cell, i use an app that changes from full into mobile view, so it dont use so much data.
good luck.

Depends on the browser. Opera, Dolphin HD browser and Skyfire allow agent switching. On my Opera, with the agent set to Desktop everything is like my laptop............I hate sites in mobile mode !! I used all the above browsers and the latest Opera has stuck with me. Dolphin is also great, but Skyfire is a little iffy for my tastes. Haven't used Firefox too much.
My 2 cents.
EDIT : Oh yeah, I remember why i like Opera..........Adobe Flash rendering in Opera is very good..........I watch entire live sports events with no hiccups.
