Gingerbread build rebooting thread - T-Mobile LG G2x

This will come up eventually I'm sure so ill get it out of the way.
Anyone have any reboots on this leaked gingerbread build?
So far so good although I haven't on the stock 2.2 although I know many have.
I also know as of this moment its probably too early but lets use this when and if the issue arises.(hopefully not).
P.s. This leaked rom is working really good for me.. I love this damn phone....

Well call me confused..
Never had a reboot on 2.2. Already on this gingerbread build the damn thing rebooted to the g2x screen...
No issues on stock 2.2 in weeks yet within hours on this build I got one. Damn
Edit:looks like my reboot was caused by holding power too long.... All is well now

I have had 3 reboots today on 2.2 have not seen the leak yet! I also also tried the Launch PRO and I love it!!!! Had reboots before I install Launch PRO and after.

This is my third G2x and have had it for 9 days. NO reboots, no screen freezes etc. Flashed the GB update zip and shortly thereafter I had a screen freeze and now my GPS, which was really quite good, is now locking on all the birds it sees but it is up to 27 miles off,Yes 27 miles and it just vacillates and jumps around wildly. I have not added any apps etc. I am hoping it is something in the atmosphere causing the wild swings in accuracy. I know grasping at straws.lol After my first screen freeze I flashed Pauls dexopt fix, so will what happens, if anything.

I'm hoping it was a fluke thing I did... all my other phones I.e. vibrant, nexus 1 have rebooted due to weird thing's maybe this was just that... since earlier its been great... maybe just worked itself out ass they need to sometimes ..

I have my first reboot 15mn after installing Gingerbread. I didn't have any reboot with eaglesblood but automatic shut downs either plugged in or not causing the alarm clock not to ring. I had tons of reboots and shut downs with stock. We'll see tonight if there's shut downs when plugged in with Gingerbread. I'm pretty sure now it's the phone, not the OS or any software

Where can I download Gingerbread and how do I get it on my phone? What does the Gingerbread do for phone?

Reboots seem to be caused by 3rd party apps that use GPS. Since I've uninstalled Speedtest I've had no reboot issues at all. Before my phone was rebooting or freezing every 20 minutes.

Just had 2 shut downs last night, lucky I saw it and turned it back on. This morning while talking on the phone with tmobile to order another g2x, I couldn't hang up the phone cuz the screen won't turn on, so they have to hang up by the other end. That happened before in stock ROM too. This is gingerbread. This could be my phone only that does this, but I'm really disappointed of LG

same here, oh well flashing eaglesblood1.03

Yea there is something funky with the leaked gb rom. I don't have reboots on any other roms. It is solely rebooting only on gb.
I recommend the latest Cm7 #9. Just flashed it and network seems normal now. I've tried other GB roms and CM7 is the best so far.
I really liked the leaked build minus the constant reboots (powered off).

[Q] Completely Non-functional GPS - Help Needed!

Hey guys, I just got my Captivate during Black Friday, and the GPS was working pretty well in the stock ROM.
It's now running Axura CE RC1 with the RedSoul theme, and I noticed that the GPS doesn't work at all. The Samsung GPSRestoreApp keeps failing to get a position fix, and although I tried a whole bunch of GPS fixes, my phone doesn't get a position fix at all, even if I leave the GPSTest app running for more than 10 minutes.
Is there anything I can do to get a working position fix?
Please help me out, and thanks in advance!

actually axura has returned from the dead.
for whats its worth i experienced nearly the opposite.
With stock i generally got decent locks (seeing 9-12 sats and usually locking 6-7). Tracking was useless and did not work other than following a straight line and it was often pathetic in even tracking straight line position/progress.
Axura 5 is the only rom that has improved my devices tracking/turn by turn navigation to a usable and actually pretty damn good state (also improved my locks....could still usually see 9-12 but was usually getting 10/10 or 9/10 consistent locks). Right now i am back on stock jh7 though...had done so preparing for the official froyo release to at least take it for a test drive. Have it set up pretty much how i wanted and alot of apps so i am gonna hold out for a bit before flashing back to a custom but if i do axura will be on my list of choices due to the gps performance i got with it.
You can look for the file GPSJM9.zip on the XDA forum, I applied on my Captivate and since then my GPS works fine (10 sec for a lock)
Flash with CWM
Thanks for the zip, i'll try flash it when i have time

Eh... Is it just me that thinks this update is great?

Hi everyone.
Is it just me? I think this GB update is great. The phone is much faster, much more responsive, doesnt lock up, no wifi issues. Everything is great. I did like the older camera better but i mean comeon why are so many people's main complaint the camera lol.
Im sure we will be seeing more small updates as bugs are discovered just like in any software but all in all im happy with this update, im happy with this phone and I still love it as I did before

It's definitely a zillion times better than the stock ROM, but that's pretty easy to accomplish when your starting reference is absolute rock bottom worthless garbage.

Funny thing is my stock rom with Faux OC/UV when set at 1.0 ghz actually is snappier than the tooted Gingerbread OTA with all bloat removed. On Froyo when I would hit the home button over and over it woulp flip from Homescreen to Sense Preview instantly, blazing fast. When I do the same, with the identical ADW set-up the Sense preview lags. I seem to have more bugs with GB than my last Froyo setup.
Another annoyance, when the phone is asleep, when I hit power the display lights up immediately, but before I can get to the Widget Locker slider the display goes dark again. This never happened with Froyo.
Lastly, when in a call with phone to my ear with Froyo if I move the phone from my ear the dialpad woudl appear as if it was using one of accelerometer (or whatever device) to track my movement. On GB the display stays dark. If I hit power to access the dial pad, i.e. to hit an extension, the display again lights, but goes dark before I can hit the numbers.
This is all after a flashing stock froyo, unrooting and installing via the LG updater (which was an adventure as it took forever). After updating reinstalled CWM and flashed Xboarders 1.0 Rooted OTA).
Honestly, if the new baseband works with Froyo, and if someone tells me restoring my pre-GB Nandroid will let me retain the baseband I may just go back as things were really nice in my Froyo set-up.
I know many folks are loving GB, other it is hell, mine is not bad at all, but weird thing is my Froyo experience was actually better. If I can get the baseband on Froyo and the GPS locks with Froyo like it is now I will stick with Froyo.

Could not agree more. I am super happy with the phone. Extremely responsive and I like the little changes in the looks as well. I also am happy with the darker keyboard.
All around I am happy I kept the phone.
My main gripe is that they were supposedly working on this update for a couple of months. So I just don't understand why the finished product doesn't have the LG Camera app. If this came out back in May, then I'd understand. If this OTA fixes the major software issues, then I'm fine. I do hope we actually get the Ice cream update next year though.
I love the update so far. Snappy, GPS locks instantly, I got to keep all my apps settings and data, and everything works great until now. I was rooted on Eagles's Blood GB, and just updated straight forward, no downgrading, no unrooting. (i did loose root, but hey, they'll crack this baby soon enough)

Well its not working for me. My phone is freezing a few times a day since the update. I had reboots before the update but never a freeze. I went into my local Tmobile store to check out the Sensation and the My touch 4G slide. The guy working there was shaking his head when I told him I was having these problems even with Gingerbread and he pulls his phone out of his pocket and its a G2X. He says he gets the same thing LOL! My GPS as gone from 3 mins lock to 5 mins to a lock after the update. I have a full upgrade credit but think I will wait for the Hercules in Sept.
I like the update. Works well for me.

It doesn't sound like you're running the stock GB? Also, it sounds like your proximity sensor isn't working, i.e., the phone always thinks your face is up against the phone and immediately turns-off the screen to avoid cheek dialing.
I'm digging the gb update and the new go launcher together. I think the screen looks alot better too. It just seems sharper and more vivid. My wife has the Samsung Exhibit and that is a really nice phone and comparing the two screens together is no competition. The g2x screen is so sharp it looks fake.

Is Your Infuse Moody?

Does your Infuse have good days and then bad days? It seems like some days, it runs like a champ. Then other days, it locks up, I need multiple reboots/battery pulls just to get it operational.
I've not used a task killer with the Infuse but often tempted to because it is so buggy. I don't even use the stock browser anymore beecause often force reboots after locking up.
I am on my second one and my wife's acts like this too. I've not gone the rooting/ROM route yet. May even exchange it one more time...

well personally, the 9.30 build of Miui is a close to stable your going to get for that Rom right now. and is the one that i running at the current moment with no Hickups. i only get erros when trying to update or add extended settings.....but like i said thats me picking at it.
but i would Probably say the MOST stable and Consistant Rom without to many bugs and errors will be the Infused one with 1.0 infusion kernel.
again though everyone has to find there own Stable combo, the things i do on my phone may work better with a certain Rom then others....you may have to mess with your Modem/APN settings to find a Stable network lock.
if your not willing to adjust/flash these to FIND somethings stable....then Stock is pretty damn stable...lol
i dont have an issue flashing or tweaking my phone im just looking for a custom rom to start with.... im actually looking for a miui to install with good themes and stuff

very rarely it has it's bad days, lol when the iPhone 4S came out my boss wanted to go pick one up for himself so as we were trying to find the Verizon store we needed to load up navigation to find it. He goes first w/ his Motorola Droid X2 to load up google maps and then his sh*t froze and then force rebooted his phone. So we were like wtf? I load up google maps on my phone, all is well until I found the Verizon retail store and hit "navigate" to and then BAM it force reboots my phone. HOLY SH*T we never laughed so hard in our lives. The chances of two droids force rebooting over the same thing lmao after the reboot it was fine but man we couldn't stop laughing. My boss goes, no wonder I'm getting an iPhone... this sh*t better not happen lol. Few minutes before I was telling him how great Android is and how you can customize it however he wishes, play with roms, yatta yatta yatta and man it was just too funny.
Ugh I guess you had to be there, would have been the perfect commercial for Apple seeing both our droids fail!
Other then that it's very rare my phone gets moody.
Not really. Mine only gets moody when i jack with it. So far I'm running:
Infused 2.2.3
Infusion GB CoreA
TransFuzion 2.1
Adrenaline Shot XIX
Just flashed UCKI4
Things are running good so far.
My infuse has a bad day as described in the OP every day since I flashed the first custom ROM. Infused with infusion seemed to be most stable but even then I got a ton of crashes, force quits, lockups, etc. I wipe everything every time and have tried gtg stock before flashing ROMs and the issues persist. Just loaded MIUI 10.21 and so far so good but it will probably start acting up soon.

[Q] G2x slows down every few days, needing reboot

Hello, I've been running xboarder56's rooted GB OTA (not the tweaked one) for about 2 months now with almost no problems. However, my phone slows down and starts getting laggy to the point of being unusable after a day or two, and the frequency seems to be increasing. I don't run many background services. Only rebooting fixes the problem temporarily. I'll try to load a webpage on either opera mobile or the stock browser while listening to music and the music starts skipping and popping while the page loads slower than usual, but after rebooting it's fast again with no skipping.
I've been searching the forums and Google and seen a few others with this problem but can't find a fix for it. I've tried clearing the Dalvik cache (with NVflashed CWM) but it didn't seem to help any. Is this a common problem with LG-based Gingerbread ROMs, and does anyone else here still have this problem? I started having this problem after running my last ROM, CM7 RC1 after a month, and when I switched to my current ROM I did do a full wipe/factory reset. I'm thinking about trying the new-ish CM7.1.0.1 stable ROM or Weapon G2x and am wondering if those have this problem as well. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time!
I have honestly had that problem with every most roms I've tried at some point. Maybe not instantly, but it will eventually start to slow down like you described in which i have to reboot.
Dang. Do you think a fix actually exists for this, or does everyone have this problem? It's strange since I can't find much discussion about this.
It sounds like you have an app gobbling up memory and not releasing it. All Android phones such be rebooted around once a week to keep things nice and tidy.

That's the issue I have with any 2.3.3 builds. But with 2.3.4 straight for 2 days now, hasn't experienced this issue yet. Unlike 2.3.3 that even within a day, it needs a reboot. I think there is a problem with LG's memory management.

It should work fine flashing any zip, but the 5.0.2.0 version of CWM is far better. Flashing it with the One Click tool is a no brainer. Go ahead and update it. It will only take you a few minutes of your time.

Do you have any evidence to support that? From what i've read android is made to run better when more memory is used.

I never had to reboot my Nexus One, or even my T-mobile G1.
I've tried just about every rom for the g2x since i got it about a month ago and they are slow down. I'm not on the 2.3.4 rom and it started out great; now its almost unusable.
Anyone know whats wrong?? i'm about to call t-mobile and try to get another phone. I don't understand how they can release phones that just don't work. How can my single core 1ghz Nexus one be faster then this dual core 1ghz phone?

Did anything ever come from this? I'm completely stock, just got this phone the other day. This phone lags harder then my HD2 I just had, which I would have kept if the digitizer didn't go out.
Are you guys on stock? If so then i highly recommend going custom. LG can't code for crap, so lots of stuff that was wrong with this phone has been fixed in the recent custom roms/kernels.
I've had the same issue until i recently switched to Phoenix Blood rom. I recommend it if you want to forget when was the last time you rebooted and still use the phone buttery smooth. I am using Faux kernel and the ROM is rock solid for me. Recently ran and the V6 script(instructions are on the rom's page in development section) with it and now it's even better! Give it a try you would love it;-)

Yeah get on a ROM without any LG coding or framework. If you guys prefer a more stock 2.3.3 feeling I would suggest Bionix Reloaded.
I make it a habit to reboot my phone every night before I sleep.

Safe to say that the 2.3.4 OTA has fixed reboots/SOD for me

I bought my G2X when it first came out in April 2011.
When I first got it I would get random reboots maybe once every 2-3 days.
Then after the first OTA (2.3.3) the random reboots went away but then I started getting Sleeps of Death. At first maybe one SOD every 2 weeks, but then over time it started to get worse. I'd get one every few days and eventually it was pretty much guaranteed I'd get one every day.
I ran the latest OTA (2.3.4) 6 weeks ago. I have not had one single reboot or SOD since then (hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying this). The latest OTA fixed this problem for me.
I'm unrooted and back to stock recovery, so it's possible that played a role too. Also, before I updated, I noticed that a lot of times the freeze would occur whenever I received an email/text notification (I'd hear the ding and vibrate, and then wouldn't be able to wake the phone up) so I turned off all sound and vibrate notifications for email/texts, that may have played a role too.
Anyway, just wanted to pass this along.
The latest update helped fix a lot of major problems. It fixed sod for 99% of the time, haven't had one yet, but I'm skeptical, GPS locks are now faster and acquires more satellites, and calling is also more clear. And no matter what rom, I still haven't had a sod.

I tried going back to stock a few times. ICS just keeps drawing me back in.
Sent from the nether regions of the black abyss under the battery of a G2X.
CM 7.2 or Temasek
I need more than stock and 7.2 or Temasek's bui;ldhas *nearly everything*(I don't do bluetooth calling)working and it has the advantage of added flexibility/speed. If I needed bluetooth calling, i'd be stock but I don't think stock is as fast as CM. Now if we can just get the Nvidia drivers from the ICS beta floating around South Korea for P-990 we might be able to have a phone that screams on ICS or JB.
I've had at least one SOD, a couple of reboots, lag, and a new one, a "Screen On Of Death" which resulted in a battery pull. GPS is faster, wife hates me.
I've had 3-4 cases where the phone wouldn't respond to the power button and I had to pull the battery. Based on the fact that the phone was getting hot and on the amount of battery I had left afterwards, it appears that something is getting into a tight loop with masked interrupts. Might well be an app problem, though.
