[Q] Transparent background of system app and notification - XPERIA X10 Themes and Apps

I'd like to change the background of system app and notification area with Transparency...
For system app like phone, contacts, setting...
We can change the background as we change semc_bg.png and semc_general_bg.png in framework-res.apk and SemcGenericUxpRes.apk.
But NO Transparency~~!!!!
For notification area, I tried to change shade_bg.png in SystemUI.apk But Nothing changed.
Could you somebody helpl me what xml and attribute I should modify for this two transparency~~??

All the files are in framework-res.apk/res only edit framework apk for appearance.
Its usually named notification some thing something.png so look around the res files.
By the way what rom are you using? If its miui its simple =)

Hi - Where's the semcgenericuxpres.apk file...?? I can't find it!!.. changed the images in framework-res.apk and that works fine.. but I can't find the other file! So I've got a new background in the menus and for calc and calendar.. but not for phone and contacts list.. do they have their own bg?

Howdy mate i figured out how to make the background transperant in Wolfs CM6,
i asume it is similar for all version of android... (not too sure)

Having a problem, i have been trying to make the notification pulldown transparent and i made the png transparent, but now it just shows a black background. So i'm assuming there is a second background controled by a xml file or another png. Does anyone know what i have to edit to get it fully transparent?
FIXED
Reserved for my use.

2.2 requires an .xml edit in the services.jar to allow transparency in the notification background.

Thank you, thats what i was thinking. So i guess i will go poke around in the service.jar. Themeing the evo/2.2 is way more involved then 2.1/other phones
Looks good, can't wait... Thanks
Looks pretty sweet. My chick would love this on her evo

it's not an xml edit... you just need to resize the png to fit. it uses a small png and tiles it. so just resize it to 480x800 and you're cool. i've been modding those far a long time.
Oh, nice clock, by the way... if you are going to use my clock, can you please use my download link instead, thanx.
you want power widgets with custom themed pulldown backgrounds and pulldown bars hit me up...

What!!!!! your asking me to give away my trade secrets? Just Kidding!!!! In gimp right click png go to image=mode=switch to RGB mode. Now u should be set to change color.
Also quick note Not sure if u know but the signal bars are actually in the com.htc.resources.apk and are named cdma_sys_6signal_X
I did not know that's where they were. Thanks I am going to give that a try.

[Q] Question about Mediascape theming

Hey guys,
first of all, I hope the thread is right here, but I'm not sure whether it belongs in here or to Question and Answers, sorry
Now to my question:
I want to theme Mediascape to make it fit my theme, I changed all the background icons in the "res" folder of the .apk file, but in the screen where the music plays I still have the original, blue background, what file do I have to change to change that screen?
Also I changed the ms_stat_playing_music_icn.png icon in the res folder to make it fit my statusbar, which is black, but the icon has still the blue background, so again, what file do I have to change to change that icon?
I hope you can help me.
Regards,
Flo

i think you are asking for modifying the music.apk.....
Thanks, but I think that's for the old version of Mediascape, because I have changed the first page of Mediascape successfully.
Since the 2.1.A.0.435 there are some little changes in the app.
I think the things you are after changing are in the SemcMediaPlayer.apk
I hope this helps.

[Q] How to change wifi/data signal and battery icon colors?

Is there a way to change the colors of the wifi/data, phone signal and battery icons in the status bar? I'm currently using weapon 2.4, so I'm rooted and was wondering if it might be a simple file edit to do so. If there is an app that lets you do that, I haven't found it yet but I would love to know how they work so I can potentially assign each icon a different custom color. Thanks in advance for any help.
--UPDATE--
ok so from what i've read so far it looks like i'm going to be editing some lines in the classes.dex which i extracted from the services.jar file in the framework folder. when I open up the classes.dex with baksmali i cannot find the \com\android\server\status\StatusBarIcon.smali file .. not just in that folder but anywhere within the expanded classes.dex archive. Is StatusBarIcon.smali where I'll be able to change the color of the icons in the notification bar or am I completely off track here?
You want to change the color of the icons? They are png files in the SystemUI.apk, so either pull them out and edit them in some photo software, find icons you like and add them, use a theme, or use UOT Kitchen.
do you have the "Theme Chooser" app on your phone?
If so, you might want to check out some themes and install one of those
or use Metamorph or a zip application to make your own
and remember, always backup your rom
Just use NinjaMorph, and edit SystemUI.apk... If you're looking to make them green, check my thread in the Themes section.

[Q] changing list menue background colour [solved]

Hi everybody,
I try to change the background colour of the list menu:
My reserach in the internet point to framework-res.apk
color.xml
/res/values/style.xml
and so on.
These files are not available on the G3, so I really have no clue which xml is responsible for the background colour of the menue list.
Does anybody have a hint?
Cheers
qaysed
i believe you can find them @ twframework-res.apk
If you are using the ADW launcher, i think you may have to mod the actual launcher apk. Not sure since i have never themed myself
its not an XML, but
menu_background_fill_parent_width.9.png
is responsible

Change background gradient without editing framework-res?

A quick question for any advanced themers out there...
I am working on a custom theme for the AOSP Messaging application. I have successfully edited everything in the app EXCEPT for the holo background, which I would like to change. Specifically I want to make the Holo gradient disappear and instead have a solid color that I define. Is it possible to set the background of the APK without having to change the framework-res.apk? If so, how can I do it?
Thanks!

I was only able to change the background by changing the png in framework-res. That's the place I think it gets it from. It took me a while to theme the Mms.apk the way I wanted to. That was before the developers for CM made it more themer friendly in recent builds. I changed a lot of stuff around in layouts that's now located all in colors.xml.
