Possible to change lcd color tone? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I was wondering if it was possible to change the color tone for the display like you can on a monitor. ex(cool, warm, or custom settings)

Supposedly this works on the G2x. I haven't tried but test and report back:

That only works on roms that can change render effect though right? I think the stock rom can't do that.

Tried it on the stock rom. force closes as soon as you try and change or click anything.

Thats probably because the stock rom doesnt support rendering effects. Itll probably work on cm7 but im waiting for a more stable release before i flash that

If you're running an official CM7 nightly (or a kanged version as well - I'm running the fitsnugly kanged CM7 nightly) go to:
Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > Interface > Render effect
It will have all the color calibration settings there. Enjoy!

Does it have the default launcher or the ADW launcher? ADW is good but it has been sluggish if I do not use the phone for sometime.
If possible default launcher would be great.

Just wondering does increasing hsdpa/hsupa really have an effect? When I just changed only hsxpa I got about the same statistics as if I had changed hsdpa/hsupa

It does alot. Reborn your phone a couple times then run speed test a couple times back to back. After a while you'll see a pretty dramatic increase

Is there a way to just give us a flashable kernel? That way you don't have to be keeping up with nightlies.

I extracted the stock launcher (- Launcher2.apk -) from the SDK emulator and used it with CM7 nightly 43 a couple of days, everything was working ok.
I just noticed live wall-paper's settings were not saved between reboots...but it may have been something else, 'cause I like to get rid of apks I will not use, e.g. Androidian.apk, etc.
Can one use this kernel with liberated FR008 or is it only CM7 ?

I'm running this now, but for some reason the Settings / process com.android.settings force closes and the Market force closes all of the time. Is there any fix for this? I've wiped data / factory reset and wiped Dalvik cache as well. Other than that, it's a very smooth ROM.
EDIT: Forgot to add process android.process.media force closes left and right.

try fixing permissions?
I've tried a bunch of different settings / permissions, checked MD5 sums, etc... I flashed to the latest nightly and it seems as though all is good though. By any chance do you happen to know how to get the "Phone keyboard" as an option? Any file to flash over?
no...
Were you oc'd to 825?
Any chance you could post just the kernel? So we can just flash it over newer nightlies as they came out?

[ROM] 2011-08-04 - ROOTED "Official Update" - x99_GB_Sense_Stock_Rooted_2.76.651.4/5

[ROM] 2011-08-04 - ROOTED "Official Update" - x99_GB_Sense_Stock_Rooted_2.76.651.4/5
This is *completely* based on NFX's release of 2.72.651.2
- modded kernel ramdisk for root
I flashed this ROM with *nothing* else loaded on my phone, and it booted up and is running just fine so far.
My usual routine:
- format system
- wipe data / factory reset
- install ROM
If you flash this over another ROM without wiping, you may encounter errors.
Examples:
- Opening the settings in the messaging app = force close. Fix this by wiping the data for the messaging app.
- Wallpaper picker not showing previews.
Download 2.76.651.4 ROM v1: http://bit.ly/iNX9qc md5sum: 793da0847bd2b452cc7887480abae029
Download patched OTA 2.76.651.5 patch: http://bit.ly/pQ1KpP DOES NOT REMOVE ROOT!
is this the one with the newest update? 2.76.651.4?
Yeah, I named it wrong... one second.
FIXED. lol ... that's what I get for rushing.
Thank you will test tonight

No custom kernel yet... at least not until HTC releases source code.
For this, I had to modify a file within the kernel so that we can have root.
Good stuff, I will try this out tonight? Is it basically the OTA with root?

Notification shade

Is there a way to get the power controls added to the notification shade if using the stock GB OTA? I've looked and can't seem to find an App or mod specifically for that.
I've found threads about changing the colors and mostly it's people modding the pngs for it via the system?.apk file but I'm not sure how one would add tat, or if we could, say, take the system.apk from a rom that has it already such as Weapon g2x and just drop that on a Stock rooted OTA?
Any idea's or methods I'm just not aware of?
there's an app called "StatusBar+" in the market that has the ability to add power control widget buttons or w/e in the notification bar on non rooted phones....if thats what you're meaning?
StatusBar+ isn't working for the G2X... Any other ideas??

if that app doesnt work, then the only other way is flashing a custom rom! I think u should just root the phone if u havent already, its nearly impossible to brick the thing unless ur completely unfamiliar with it, but even then, its damn hard! There's a ton of awesome roms with the notification widgets
Yeah my phone is rooted. I'm currently using EB 2.3.3 1.07 which I believe is one of the most stable roms... I just wish there was a way to add that feature (power control bar to the notification bar) to this rom without having to flash a different rom or theme...

from my themeing experience of weapon and vibrant roms I think its a combination of frameres and systemui. I could be wrong but if it was me id ask a dev who has it in their ROM already it could greatly ease the method to achieve the desired effect.

I believe he's talking about EaglesBlood 2.3.3, not 2.3.5.
The notification power widgets on gingerbread roms are in the SystemUI.apk. The problem is, unless you are really snuggly with linux, java, and the sdk, your chances of coding your own are weak.
However, if you have a rom available to you from the same android and phone versions, you have a good shot at getting it to work, as with weapons systemui on eb 2.3.3.

Installation Aborted?

So I've had this problem for a while when trying to flash something. I can flash ROMs fine, but I have issues with tweaks and the like. I've redownloaded these tweaks multiple times (such as the ICS layout for status bar) and flashed them in Clockwork and 4ext but I get Installation Aborted. Happens all the time on tons of the things I try to flash. Very annoying.

Are you sure that these "tweaks" are supported by your ROM that your using? I would make a strong bet that these tweaks are not. I'm not a dev, but ICS layouts would probably have different framework then the ROM your using, unless you're using the ICS ROM, in which case let's be honest that's probably an issue or bug they are working out since its in BETA at the moment.

Don't assume that tweaks built for a CM Rom will work on any CM based Rom. Also sense its is aborting are you using Rom manager to try and flash these? Sounds like an incompatibility issue with the script.

As Ze has already alluded too, not all CM7 tweaks transfer over. I'm not 100% on the framework for the tweaks but consider asking int he Absolution thread, Roy or one of the devs should be able to give you answer or at least some insight as to why its not working.

[Theme]Touch of ICS for Stock 2.3.4

This is ONLY for the official stock 2.3.4 LG ROM that introduced the new March 2012 baseband!!
I repeat, DO NOT FLASH ON ANYTHING ELSE.
Ok so since my real first porting of a theme (which was a little of a disaster in my opinion...) I've gotten a lot better/smarter.
This port is probably going to be the final. There's honestly nothing wrong with it so far that I can tell.
I might change the drop down menu background to something else maybe. For some reason, even if you use a transparent image... it still isn't transparent for me.
I just kind of grabbed some random image for the background and used it... it was supposed to repeat itself and just kind of scaled... and doesn't look too bad in my opinion.
How to install:
Download the attachment to SD card
Boot into CWM
(Optional) Create a backup in case of boot loop
Flash the zip
Reboot device
There is no need to wipe cache or dalvik or any of that nonsense. I NEVER do, but you can if you're paranoid enough.
Known Issues:
None.
Notes:
I disabled the overscroll glow. I just personally do not like it and it tends to make the device lag when it appears.
I didn't do any .xml changes so no colors should be ugly on certain other windows/frames.
The font in my screenshots will NOT be applied to your phone; that is the font I use and it is not included in the theme.
SOLUTION IF YOUR PHONE BOOT LOOPS
If your phone bootloops it means you dirty flashed 2.3.4 onto your device which means you were on 2.3.3, then you upgraded to 2.3.4 via LG Update tool, and then tried to flash this theme.
So what you have to do (and SHOULD do anyway) is download the rooted 2.3.4 stock ROM (thanks to kwes) and do a fresh install of it (wipe data/factory reset and format /system) then this theme will work 100%.

Thank you and yeah I know what you mean.
I've stated before that I'm not a developer, nor am I a themer; I just simply port over stuff.
I would love to have the screen off animation, and quick toggles as seen in weapon and bionix, but I don't even know the beginning stuff. I'd have to do a lot, lot of reading and experimenting... which I may do one day but work keeps me pretty busy.
By the time I learn anything worthwhile I'm sure a developer would have already made a custom ROM out of this and did all that stuff .
Believe me, I want all that neat stuff too.
Yeeeeah, I've stopped using ics roms because of little things like that, I love when the rom works smooth and fast, it would be awesome if any developer did the crt on and off animation work here, I'm missing the toggles too
