Hello,
I have a MDA Wizard and have been trying to change the default location of the files transferred to the storage card with no success. I changed the BaseDir value in the registry, but it does not work. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
yea me too, im looking for a solution. changed BaseDir and even change the My Documents path to Storage Card. Nothing so far. anyone know?
New location for files received by bluetooth
I came accross this program in this forum somewhere. Really good. Give it a try.
Just run the cab file and soft reset. After that, run the program whenever you want to switch bluetooth on and it puts a bluetooth icon on the system tray. double click icon and go to settings and set the dir where you want to receive the file and you're ready to go.
I've tried getting a really big file too just to see if this merely moves the file to the other location after receiving or actually changes the location of incoming files and found out it changes the location.
Let me know if this works for you.

Partial Success...
This is an old thread but I think is directly related to what I'm trying to do. I've seen many other threads trying to solve the same problem, so I won't create a new one. Anyway, first, here is the info:
AT&T 8525
HERM: 100
ROM: 3.62.502.3 (Offical AT&T)
Results:
Successfully transfered 2 test files from my laptop (XP SP2 Tosiba Bluetooth 4.00.22D) directly to my storage card:
AdbeRdr80_en_US.exe - 21,822,168 bytes
Tears of a Dragon.mp4 - 8,572,344 bytes
How:
Added a STRING value BaseDir to the HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OBEX\{000...} set to: "/Storage Card/"
Problem / Temporary Solution:
Using Resco I can see the file in the Storage Card as soon as the beam is over, however the OBEX prompts you if you want to save the file or not. If you click NO the file gets deleted. If you click YES, the file gets moved after two seconds to \My Documents or some files just go nowhere(?). So before I actually answer the prompt, I just copy the file elsewhere on my card and then click NO on the prompt.
Analysis / Conclusions (so far):
1. The official AT&T ROM does not have OBEX FTP service installed (obexfile.dll). It only has the OBEX Default Inbox service (obexinbx.dll).
2. The obexinbx.dll is not behaving as expected. Ex: Why "/Storage Card/" vs. "\Storage card\"; Adding the DWORD value DisableUI does not eliminate the prompts as it should; If I delete the TransportAuntheticate value in the same key, it just reappears, yet the dll is not supposed to use that value as per MSDN2.
Could somebody try to duplicate my results and/or see if there is a way to disable the prompts? Thanks in advance!
Has anyone tried this? Please?
Here are some screenshots to better explain what is happening:
1. Add BaseDir value to the OBEX key.
2. Send test file from my laptop.
3. PPC displays 1st UI prompt (recfileprompt.jpg)
4. Laptop displays progress indicator for file transfer. (progress.jpg)
5. When transfer is complete, PPC display 2nd UI prompt. (uiprompt.jpg)
6. I can confirm the test file did transfer to the SD card (fileinssdcard.jpg)
7. If I click on YES the file disappears (but some files get moved to \My Documents). If I Click NO the file disappears.
So... Is there a way to get rid of these prompts? Or to make them not move or delete the file once is in the SD Card?
Thanks,

Unfortunately, the contents of my HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OBEX\ are the folders Services and Transport. There is no {0000-0000...} folder there. It exists though in the folder Services, so for my device, it is HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OBEX\SERVICES\{0000...}. After adding the key, the temporary storage for the received file is ideed SD Card so I can grab it before responding to the prompt.
Nevertheless, either if I respond YES or NO for the file save prompt, the file is deleted from SD Card and does not reappear anywhere on the device, so it does not get moved, but deleted.
Notes:
For me it does not matter weather I write "/Storage Card/" or "\Storage Card\", it still receives to Storage Card, but regardless of what I choose, YES or NO, it deletes the file.

Exactly. This is the best I could get it to work, by just copying or moving the file to another SD Card location (or renaming it) before responding to the prompt. Anyway, this is kind of an old post. I had orginally done this since Dr. Yar crashed on my phone. Since then, I discovered HTC Bluetooth FTP Explorer 1.2, which adds an FTP tab to your Bluetooth Connections settings, where you can specify the default location for incoming bluetooth files.
Thanks for trying it out though!
PS,
I was trying to upload HTC Bluetooth cab, but there is a problem with the database. Anyway, I got it from VP3G's AddOn pack in the Hermes forum. A quick search should find it for you.

I don't know whether you are referring to this (which is inside my rom), but look at my settings. Even with these, Bluetooth still receives to Device and saves to Device\My Documents.

Yes. That's it. It works fine for me. Is your SD Card name "Storage Card"? I would also try using the browse button and selecting different folders inside the SD Card.

Just tried. Same thing!
Well. That is strange. I don't have a Trinity. I have a Hermes. What I would do at this point, is first, try installing the BT FTP cab over your existing one (backup first!). If that doesn't work, try removing/re-inserting the SD Card and also if possible another SD Card. Could there be a write access-protect restriction on your card that forces the OS to use the default My Documents location?
Anyway I have to go back now to my other life , but if I think of something else I'll let you know. Sorry you have problems
OBEX vs FTP
That bluetooth setting is only for FTP transfers. OBEX is the "native" transfer protocol that phones et al. use. Changing the setting for FTP received files doesn't alter the OBEX ones!
I'm going to try Dr Yar, but would love to find a registry setting for this!
I've just found this one as a cure, about to try it..

Hi all,
I would like to know if i can create a folder shortcut in another folder. But not for the desktop at all(for that, no problems- lol). Like an .ink in windows; just create a small file which indicates a path access.
I explain : i have some music apps (musical creation)which requires data in their own folder (ex: /sdcard/electrum/samples or /sdcard/spc/samples or /sdcard/gstomper/samples... etc.) I have some data which i want to use with all these apps so i have to create a shortcut to my main data folder in all these locations.
Right now i'm stuck and the only way to work is to copy data as many times as the number of my music apps and it just overloads my SD.
Before posting, i searched a lot on the web, but unsuccessfully.
Thanx in advance.

Help
Hi,
im thinking about this problem some time and i dont understand why there isnt yet app for it. If i understand its technicaly only moving files from one place to another where we have r/w access on both of them. So basicly is possible to create app, where could be some user defined database for example - user could click to add button and define icon, name and path to Android/Data folder for app/game and then add it to database. Now user can see app in list and for example by click on it could move this Android/Data using this teoretical app to extSdCard and back to internal storage.
Or there could be something like moving Android/Data folder for specified app to extSd while adding it and when user want to start it will use button in app (which use process like move back to internal storage and then run the app) or some modified shotcut generated by app (with same process) insted of original. There could be some background process controling if executed app is still running and while not it can move data back to extSdCard.
Its not the best method to do that but i dont see here anything requiring root access. Maybe i missed something?
I hope U understand what I want to say, im sorry english is not my primary language
Its been a long time since I’m transferring files to my Note 3 and previous android phone from my PC over home network WiFi. My ultimate goal was to sync files from PC to my Note 3 locally automatically so that I will be always updated with latest docs.
But so far I’m unable find a best way to do a sync for all files. The one I got is use dropbox to store documents and then use Note 3 stock file manager Dropbox option to get docs files. But this stores all in internal memory, bad luck but no other option. Also Note 3’s this feature has limitation like it can only sync Docs, photos and videos, no other files formats like zip etc.
So here is a tricks I found which may help you in many ways:
I really dislike putting the cable on to transfer files so earlier to transfer files over home network wifi, I used Wifi FTP app to turn on FTP into Device and in windows create a add network location in my computer and once put the UID/Pass, transfer files into phone any time. But this can only write files into Internal memory, not external due to kitkat. Also if it’s a big file I have to copy them again from phone file manager to external memory. In my previous phone I could store large files directly to sd card the same way.
So I was looking for a more convenient way. What I don’t like I have to take the phone out each time to activate FTP and then transfer files. Many people suggested samba file sharing which require root access and it can share your phone into windows network and many other apps but I didn’t like any.
So I got an idea to use this FTP features in reverse way. If you’re using Windows you can easily create a shared folder as FTP server by using IIS manager (no extra software require and nothing will run in background to show your PC) So by this video instruction you will get how to share a folder as FTP server https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWpZkhXnhds even with your router’s help you can access it over internet.
After the IIS setup done you can share a single folder or an entire hard disk partition. After done on your PC, go to your phone stock file manager, at bellow just after the memory status there have a column with + sign folders, those are for shortcuts. Click in one and choose FTP shortcut. Give it a name and put all details from your PC. In password field put your PC account password and choose passive mode. After done tap to connect and you’re all done. Now you have a virtual storage memory. I shared a 100GB media Partition where I stores songs and videos and anytime when the PC is on I can copy files into external memory and can access all files on the phone. Also if you have high-speed wifi (300mbps or over) you can directly stream HD videos.
This way you can create multiple folders and multiple FTP and multiple shortcuts in your device for separate purpose. Also the advantage is you don’t need to share anything over windows network and so other PC can access your shared folders. Its completely different and secure way. Only people having your system local IP and your PC username and password only those can access those shared folder and files.
With this way you don’t need any separate apps on your device and PC as well. Still its not a auto sync wirelessly which is my primary requirements so if anyone have any idea on this please share.
I don’t have any instruction for Mac and Linux as I use only Windows but IIS like stuff should be available in all.
On another perspective I find really useful to send links, pages, images from my chrome browser to my phone. I use 2 extensions for this. One is Google Chrome to Phone Extension and the other is Mighty Text.
And if you hate the cables you can always use "ADB Wireless" . Just connect your pc & phone in same network and transfer your files over wifi.
Or use something like Samba File Sharing, which sets your Note 3 up as a network accessible storage device, so you just open a Window to it on your PC (or get any file sync software to use it as a network device, or set it up as a mapped drive if you like)

fix for extSdCard write on kitkat has been posted. Root is needed ot edit file but the fix is simply add one line to /system/etc/permissions/platform.xml
Code:
name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw"/>
<group gid="media_rw"/> line needs to be added.
I'd use Smart Disc Mounter for easy access.

It’s a good app. But it root access require, so no way….. then there is also apps like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nalic.app.wifishare&hl=en which is very small, less memory consumption and its works great. I’ve been using this since long. Just set FTP uid/pass once and easy use. But with this on kitkat no sd card writing. So the process goes like for large files :
Send file to internal memory > open phone file manager > copy that file to sd card.
And with the process I mentioned: open phone file explorer > browse files that you want to copy > copy to sd card.

I would love to use this app, but the issues was:
1) Personally I don’t like this apps UI and look and feel, it’s a small point though.
2) I use this in office too, so sharing the phone internal/external memory isn’t safe over windows network. I doubt this app could let it access by UN/Pass. I’ve never tried this app but knew about this since long. Be solve if one share a particular folder for transferring. But again the same scenario, copy and move in phone explorer.
( If anyone have security concerns like me, on my above mentioned method, you can use a separate windows login with difficult password, you can use a typical port like 9137 which itself work as password, as it will work only locally so no hacking concerns )
3) On kitkat, the same thing, no sdcard write permission. So again copy and move. As for large media files I and many people do not prefer to store them in phone memory.
4) If I could map the phone on PC then sync would be my best solution as I have to work with lots of documents. But this cant do the same for media files otherwise I’ve to store all in internal memory to sync them. Instead I use Dropbox and it works awesome.

Just tried this, probably a nice app. Many installation requires on windows pc .Net framework + Smart Disk app on pc. But the free version only have internal memory option, external require a paid version. I’ve emailed the developer to confirm the paid version have the ability to write on Kitkat. If it does only then I will buy it.
Yeah it's amazing app and I have paid version and I can read/write Ext SD with it.
But if you don't have ExtSD fix applied (earlier you have mentioned you don't want to root) then there may be possibility that it may not work without fixing permission, It's kitkat issue not application problem.

Yes it is absolutely a great app for me so that i can easy access my file work/home with 24/7 mounted on PC so that i can disconnect and connect it again. I installed this on my Note 3 KK i have no problem at all The reason why i recommended this app is it simple, secure fast rather than any wifi file transfer software (FTP) which need to open chrome, or type in ip address or what so ever.
Edit, Btw what do yo mean you cant write into external memory? Did you choose externel mmc option? Check Screenshot below

I agree its a great app and 1st i tried the free version and then the paid one, but except internal memory it still cant write on card. If no card right feature then no use for larger files. Also i dont know if this mounted all time and running background if it could cause battery draining.
If this could support sdcard write in future, I will need this 1st as I cant sync over network by FTP mount.
For now uninstalled it.

Yes i saw that, I can sacrifice this feature but i dont want to root my device any how. If it void warranty it will void the warranty for hardware too. I've seen many users those used custom roms and later paid by themselves for hardware failure.

i tested it twice, 1st internal memory read and write, perfect. then unmount > select external memory > mount again > read data perfect but when writing it popups permission require. Tried again after disconnecting but no luck.
Also it has to click mount twice one in phone and again on PC, otherwise it doesnt connects.
Earlier I tried Samsung side sync but that doesnt work over wifi.

Hello everyone,
:crying:
I have a ROOTED Hisence HS-U980 Infinity Pure 1 . Running android 4.2.1
I use TIBU data profiles like crazy. And I use alot of profiles, and once I finish, I delete the unneeded ones.
Anyway,
I was using data profiles today as usual, and I changed the profile to a different one -as always-, but this time I noticed that titanium backup told me "Data profile changed to "...." and applied to 0 apps". ZERO APPS
I was like "Whaaaaaatttttt!!!!". I went after that to the apps I use, to check and see if the multiple profiles for them are somehow disabled. But NO, they are on. So I tried disabling multiple data profiles for them to see what going on with the feature.
And this is what I got: "Sorry, a problem occurred when switching the data profiles for .... app"
And it shows to all the apps I use multiple profiles with. So I think the problem is within TIBU.
What should I do?
I don't want to lose my data on my apps,
Thanks for your help.
EDIT: and BTW, when I activate multiple profiles for a new app, it works fine. But all the previous ones are in error.
SOLUTION
[SOLUTION]
I managed to solve the issue, here are the steps.
- First make a new data profile for this, so that we work away from your old data profiles, and hopefully not lose any former data.
- Go to " /Device/data/data/ " (and there you will find all the apps folders, search for your app folder and enter it)
- (In your app folder) Backup/copy all the data in here -for insurance-, or just copy the needed ones. (you will also see folders named after your data profiles)
- (In your app folder) You will see a folder -mostly hidden- named " .data_profiles ". This is the one causing the error for your app. Delete it, but make sure you don't delete something important inside it, like data profiles or something, unless you made a copy of them.
- Now go back to TIBU , and go to your app, you will see that the multiple profiles feature is now disabled because we deleted ".data_profiles" folder.
- Enable multiple profiles feature for the needed app.( you will see that TIBU will tell you that the current data will be assigned to the current data profile, which is the one we made first.)(CAUTION: THIS STEP WILL DELETE ALL PREVIOUS APP DATA PROFILES FOLDERS FOR THE APP YOU ARE WORKING ON , because now TIBU thinks that this is the first time this app uses data profile, therefore, it will delete all previous data folders to make new ones)
- Now, the multiple profiles feature is re-enabled for your app.
- Go again to your app data folder, and PASTE any needed info from the data you copied previously.(but don't paste the ".data_profiles" folder. You can paste the data that were in it before -if any-, but dont paste the folder itself)
-DONE

Please explain for those of us who are not experts: What are you talking about here:
- Go to " /Device/data/data/ "
Do you mean on your internal storage on the phone, or what?
Hello. Sorry for being away for so long. Thought the details were enough and never checked back on this thread.
Anyway, "Do you mean on your internal storage on the phone, or what?",
If my memory serves me right, I believe it is only on the internal storage. If you are using data profiles then you are rooted and have access to the internal storage. Go there and check it out and also show any hidden folders if they are not visible.
Good luck.

Please follow the steps one by one and your problem will be solved. Backup "copy/paste" your data profile folders first before you do anything.
This problem is caused by TIBU for some reason. Corrupted directory of some sort and this is why you need to do the steps mentioned and make TIBU create a new folder. Then you can paste your old data profile information and regain access.
Again, don't paste the whole folder, just the contents inside.
In my solution, what I am explaining is:
There is a folde directory making a problem for TIBU. This directory needs to be deleted. But NOT the contents and data inside it. Making a new version of the problem directory will fix the issue.
In short, the solution is: (From internal storage), backing up all the data profiles for the application you are using, then deleting the directory that is causing the problem "".data_profiles" folder", then going back to TIBU and REACTIVATING multiple profiles for your application will create a clean copy of " ".data_profiles" folder ". Paste the old contents you copied before from ".data_profiles" folder into the NEW version of ".data_profiles" folder. This will fix the problem.
THIS WAY TO SOLVE AN ERROR DATA PROFILE'S ENABLE BUT SHOW ERROR WHEN USER TRY TO DISABLE THEM.
This caused damage may the user change or other activity to system root like change device id with other app or imei with other app where they not supported by TIBU.
Ok, let go to fix.
(CAUTION!!! THIS IS NOT ONLY ONE THE WAY TO FIX THEM IT'S JUST ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE BUT IT'S WORK FOR MY PROBLEM LIKE THIS)
STEPS:
1. OPEN THE TIBU PRO
2. NEXT -> GOTO BATCH ACTIONS
3. CHOOSE -> MANIPULATED DATA -> RUN WIPE DATA FOR USER & SYSTEM APPS
4. THEN YOU WILL SEE THE WIPE DATA FOR USER & SYSTEM APPS AND AND APPS LIST.
5. TAP INVERT SELECTION
6. THEN CHOOSE YOUR APPS WHERE YOU ENABLE MULTIPLE DATA PROFILES BEFORE.
7. TO EXECUTE AND FIX THEM TAP THE SUBMIT BUTTON IN THE RIGHT TOP CORNER OR TAP THIS BUTTON [√].
8. REBOOT YOUR PHONE (DO NOT USE A SOFT REBOOT) BUT FULL REBOOT.
9. OPEN AGAIN TIBU, AND ENJOY WITH PROFILE AGAIN.
