[Q] Wifi Won't connect - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey All,
I've had my Transformer running great all day since picking it. I put it down for a few minutes while eating dinner and came back to it not connecting to Wifi. I've rebooted my wifi router and verified that I can connect with my laptop without a problem. I also verified Airplane mode is off as well as wifi being turned on. It keeps seeing my SSID and cycling to connecting, then showing not in range. Has anyone seen similar?

I cannot find that directory on my TF. Do I have to be rooted and running root explorer for that? I am on stock firmware...
I even did a search on ASTRO and came up with nothing....

You do need a file explorer that have access to the root folder.
You can try ADB deleting the file.

Wi-Fi Tether w/ Root

I've successfully rooted my x10a and installed wi-fi tether 1.51 with no luck. Whenever I press on "- Press to start tethering -", I get a window displaying
Sorry!
The application Wireless Tether for Root Users (process android.tether) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Any of you guys had any luck?

I'm not using that specific app but I do use wifi tethering.
I installed Barnacle Wifi Tether and then in settings i set athwlan0 as the LAN port.
It works fine for me, I get 7+ mbits and it's held up for over 5GB so far. Might be worth a shot.
Thanks for the reply. I'm getting an Error notification:
Unexpected error occured! Inspect the log and try the troubleshooting guide.

That's the error I got before I manually set up the LAN interface. Did you change that setting?
no, I didn't change a thing. Simply pressed Start as soon as i opened it. I've tried reinstalling it, but no luck
what's your WAN and LAN interfaces set as?

Follow the instructions I posted. The WAN interface is already set, you need to set the LAN interface.

read he`s second line , in settings i set athwlan0 as the LAN port
I tried "android wifi tether", It says "no netfilter", by reading the guide from that developer's website, it says we need to get an android 1.6 update. I think it means the android 1.6 in our X10 is the earlier version of 1.6, those tethering software require something in the later version of 1.6. I also found the update on that website, but, X10 does not have recovery mode, so I dont know how to flash the "update.zip" into my x10
I manually set the LAN, but still no luck. The same error screen appears...

Do you have SuperUser working properly? Another thing can also be the WAN setting, it should be something like rmnet0.
i think my superuser is installed properly... I followed the instructions given by bin4ry pretty closely and everything worked. WAN automatically was set to rmnet0.
Hmm, when I use setCpu, it says root not detected... that's kinda akward.

Yeah, it sounds like your rooting has an error. There was a bunch of updated files posted in the rooting guide among them a new SuperUser.apk, post #4 I think.
Confirmed working.

Well you shouldn't need to turn on wifi manually, the app does that automatically. Other than that I have no clue.

Get it, I manually set LAN as "athwlan0", everything fine, thank you
But I have a question, will the data gauge in "traffic" start to increase rapidly when there is no tethering device connected?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
it solved my interface error!
as for the PERMISSION ERROR
I redid the root from Step1-4 (including the hard reset)
it was related to the superuser.apk.
Thank you again for the info.
Zeph, thanks. I will give it a go once I arrive to work.
Thanks again for all the help everyone. I will let you know if it works.

sorry, it did not work. I guess I'll first flash the phone to x10i, then redo the entire 4 steps. My phone was originally x10a.
Will let you know.

Working WiFi App for 2.2

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering currently I have tested out the Wireless Tether app and its not working for me. I have tried it with or with out access control and neither works. I was wondering if anyone know of an app that works with 2.2 or some changes that need to be made to get it working.
Thanks!
yeah i had that problem too... but the following worked for me with access control on or off and ssd name changed.
1. install this one - http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre8.apk
2. restart phone
3. test it out.
4. let us know who it worked.
Hi,
I updated the APK rebooted, I am still not able to see the device. I also tried removing permissions from the old app from superuser and regranting them. Any other ideas?

The copy you uploaded works except for access control, as soon as i enable it it will still connect to the computer but there is no internet access and wifi tether reports starting with errors. WEP still seems to work.

Sounds about right.. I just use it to side load tbh lol dint think its optimized for captivate or something

I gave up on trying to use another program to manage the Captivate. It's just so much easier to use the adb shell.
Think u also need the latest version of busybox installed on ur phone.

I also can not get the Captivate to work with Droid Explorer.
I have BusyBox 1.16.1 from the SuperUser.apk.

Can you mount the phone?
If you can't get any type of communication from the phone to your pc it may be a driver issue.
Don't give up..
i have same problem my computer reads and I can see my device and files inside, but I'm not able to write, move, or delete.

exact same problem with me.....same set up i believe too
i just got sideload wonder machine and said screw it until further notice.
Droid explorer isn't working since I updated to Cognition 2.2 beta 7. It is unable to find the device. I have the device in debugging mode and Kies will recognize it (but I don't have Kies open while trying to use Droid Explorer). It worked fine with 2.1
Has anyone else experienced this since updating?
I gave up on Droid Explorer to modify folders and add files.
But all you need to do is go back into your Settings>Applications>Development *uncheck debug.
Then replug into computer, and in the dropdown notification area, pull it down and tap on the USB connect. Then your PC will read it like a mass storage device again.

[Q] Wireless file transfer with G2X

HI,
I've recently purchased the G2X with EagleBlood ROM installed on it.
Any thing works flawlessly , except wireless file transfer
I've tried "AirDroid", "WiFi File Transfer", "Wireless file transfer" , but unfortunately nothing worked.
The same applications working flawlessly on any other Android based device (tablets and phones) I own.
Somebody has any clue ?
Thanks

Try the following remedies:
1) Check your Wifi settings. Make sure it is on either while charging or while you're trying to transfer your data through whichever app you're using.
2) Try sending smaller files (<5kb) just as a test one-by-one to see if that works.
3) I use "AirDroid" & "WiFi File Explore" but you can also try using FTP servers which are offered via "File Expert"
4) Last but not least (I highly doubt this), but you may wanna try reflashing a new ROM or the same ROM again.
Hope I helped.
Try es file explorer. Connect via wifi to your PC/Anastasia and copy/paste

for what it's worth, I use AntTek Explorer and it's network browser functionality, paired up with an FTP server on my LinuxMint Acer Aspire 5517. Works pretty well, but I have to do everything from the AntTek browser, which of course includes pushing files to the device from the laptop (works well up to ~150mb at a time) and to the laptop from the device (good until around ~100mb for me.)

[Q] My android phone all of a sudden stopped letting me drag and drop files onto it

I am running a CM11 Nightly on my jfltevzw. I am trying to update to a new nightly by dragging and dropping it onto my phone, the way I always do. However for some reason when I try to do it now, I get an error message saying "Cannot copy item: This device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected." even though it shows up on my explorer. I have no idea what happened. It was working fine like a day ago. I have rebooted my computer and everything, but it just won't work. Help!
Usually CM roms have this kind of MTP bugs when you move big files, try rebooting your phone, if you still got a problem, try using adb, or Usb Mode, or copy files over wifi (Airdroid, or ES file explorer ..)
