Has anyone backed up the stock applications? I accidentally deleted audiotuning.apk and want to put it back, even though I haven't determined what it's for. If anyone has backed these up to their desktop, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could send it to me so I don't have to reinstall.
Coming from a lifetime use of Blackberry, it seems we can't fix our mistakes as easily on Android

I use the Sdx Stock App to backup and delete system apps. If you're rooted it's invaluable.

Thank you!!!!
It seems I can't copy this over to system\apps. Looks like the .odex was deleted also. Could you please attach this for me too? Hoping that will do it. I'm rooted so I don't know why it's not showing up (using root explorer)
Or do I have to do this using adb ?
I am going to zip all these up and post them on here for other morons like me after

Rename it to .odex it's not really a zip file. I had to name it that to get around the forum limitations.
I'm pretty sure you have to do it using ADB and mount the system/app directory as writable. If you install the Sdx tool you can backup a few apps, then navigate to the sdx directory on the sdcard that gets created and manually add the audioTuining files in there and then restore them using the Sdx app.
That's a long way around ADB but it should work.
Thanks again!!!
Jeeze what a hell of a job it is to push a few files to /system folder
Anyway, got them over there...Unavailable to actually install it (no idea why) but at least it's sitting back in there
That takes care of my OCD until I notice what it affected
where can i find that sdx tool? are there any other free apps out there that I can back up my phone with?
I'd be most grateful if someone could attach VoiceSearch.apk, and VoiceSearch.odex.
Accidentally deleted.

I uninstalled AT&T Address Book (through Titanium Backup) and expected to be able to restore it in the event of catastrophic failure...was wrong. I then attempted to replace contacts.apk with one without AT&T Address Book and that broke EVERYTHING...did factory reset...even worse. I managed to get Contacts.apk back to normal but I still have the "AAB Initializing error when ever I click on my address book...
Anyone know how I can restore my ...
ALRIGHTY...all I need now is the name of the ATT_AddressBook.apk, and I should be back in business...
Go to this thread the apk is like 4 posts down!!!
HERE
and i would appreciate it if you could help me...
we are trying to get some development going for the LG thrill 4g...
so if you could plz copy the flash_image file in the system/bin folder on your device and post it on this thread please!!!
thankyou your help is appreciated!!!
I can help you out, but I'm in the /system/bin folder right now and don't see the file your talking about.
I'm using root explorer BTW and have r/w control...
Closest thing is "flash_renderer_test" then "frame buffer_test". The file you speak of should be right around there, but its not..
I accidentally removed the email app on a rooted version of gingerbread. I backed it up, but apparently, it didn't back up successfully. Can someone provide the APK and installation instructions? I need it for my work email.
Thanks
In case no one provides it briefly and you need it urgently, you can download any GB Rom and extract the email.apk from its /system/app directory.
Then copy it to your phones /system/app using a root browser, and set it's permissions to rw-r-r (644)
Reboot & you should be good
Thanks so much for the response. I'll give that a try. What's the .odex file in the app directory?
Email.apk? That's all you should need
I tried playing around with modified Nfc.apk apps to try and get it to work on my Nexus S with the screen off, but nothing worked. Now I need to put the stock version of the app back, but stupid me accidentally deleted the backed-up apk. Can anyone please help me out?
I've pulled my nfc apk: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3eyvwf9uniia78v/Nfc Service_4.1.2-eng.travp624.20121027.191541.apk
hope it helps!
Thanks so much for the help, but it doesn't work. I copied the file to my system/app folder as "Nfc.apk", changed the read permissions then rebooted the phone, but it doesn't even show up in the system settings as an option. Maybe there is something different about our phones other than the JB version?
Ok I copied this directly from my system/app/ folder: http://db.tt/UOwpirFL
Previous file was a backup I had created with ES file explorer.
Hope it works this time!
Permissions were fixed as rw-r--r--
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Thanks again, but it still doesn't work. You had it right the first time. I did a checksum for both files and they are identical. Do you also have a Nfc.odex file? Maybe if I have that too it would work?
Is your 4.1.2 build number JZO54K?
I'll look for that .odex file and let you know...yes build number is JZO54K
- Sorry mate can't seem to find that .odex file on my phone! Hope someone else can help you with your issue.
Hello Were you able to solve the problem? I have the same situation. Restore files Nfc.apk and Nfc.odex from backup did not help.
(Sorry for the google translate)

Hey hi friends,
I have got a problem "unfortunately playstore has stopped working" after removing bloatware using this => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462554 link.
and i searched a bit and got the i should not have removed DOWNLOAD.apk and DOWNLOAD.odex so could anyone please give me these files ?
You can get these from /system/app directory.
Dude, there is no "download.apk" in the /system/app directory. U removed it by mistake or smth.
There is no "download.apk" in the stock, unmodified ROM, either.
