Google voice text issues. - T-Mobile LG G2x

Its hard to explain but everytime I receive a text message thru GV from the same contact, the program makes multiple entries....even though its the same contact (ex. carolina). So my question is how do i make the text keeping going to the same contact without making 2 diff entries for the contact?

GV will automatically start a new "thread" after a certain amount of time. No idea how long that is.

I see...kinda of strange.

[Q] Number in Text field?

When I'm texting someone, i sometimes get their phone number at the top of the text field and by their name in their text bubble. It's not with every contact either. I thought maybe it was because they have multiple numbers attached to the contact but even ones that have just one number so it. i dont want it to show it at all. any ideas?
it shows up if you have an email address for them too. if all you have for that contact is a mobile number you may want to go into your contacts & see if they were linked to anything else

[Q] Google Voice taking over texts

I got a bit of a serious issue.
Sprint is obviously GV integrated now. I'd like to keep GV for my voicemails, but its also taking over my texts.
At one point, I had the app installed and set to not bother me and notify the regular messaging app of texts. I have a privacy box setup w/ the regular SMS app so this was not OK. Also, it didn't forward texts to regular SMS a lot of times. I would miss peoples text and I find myself checking voice.google.com manually knowing it may not have come through to the regular SMS app.
I figure, oh well, I'll just listen to VMs through gmail. I deinstalled the app. And unchecked everything possible in voice.google.com settings for texts. Yet it is still happening.
No GV on my phone. Yet, both incoming and outgoing texts are in voice.google.com. Sometimes I'll send a text, be expecting a response and it never comes. I check voice.google.com and it is there.
Is it even possible to exnay Google Voice from my texts and keep just voicemail? Or do I have to switch voicemail providers?
Edit: CRAP!!!! Now I have a *86 voicemail notification that I can't clear!
and.. figured it out. ... thx for looking
The only way to correct all of these errors you're experiencing is to undo your Sprint/GV integration. You can make this change via voice.google.com. You will also want to make sure that you disable forwarding to your mobile number via the website, so that when your phone forwards calls to voicemail, your phone doesn't end up going through two ring cycles for a call you don't want to/can't answer.
From what I understand in your post, you want to have Google Voice handle Voicemail, but have everything else handled via the standard apps on the phone. In order to do this, you want re-install the app on your phone and skip the integration option that Google Voice presents to you during the initial setup of the app. Also make sure to choose not to have Google Voice make any calls, and then set it up to handle your voicemail.
The way this works is that your calls and texts go to your Sprint number, (which will no longer be integrated with Google Voice.) The text messages will feed straight into the standard SMS app. Calls will route normally, but if you send the call to VM or it rings enough times to send to VM, the call will forward to your GV number which will be acting merely as a voicemail box. The caller will leave a message and it will notify you. Now, if you have done the OTA ICS update, you can set up Google Voice to integrate even better and show the VM's in the call log, removing your need to go into the GV app at all. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
Edit: You posted that you'd figured it out while I was writing my post. I'm glad you figured it out, but I'm going to leave this up anyway for people who run into the same issue.

Go sms pro private box: not working cause of the +1 area code

Dear all,
I am having some big trouble with go sms pro private box. I have the paid version. I added from my contacts all the contacts that I want to be private. It happened that when some of those contacts text me the message and notification are correctly private, while for others they are received in the normal folder (and have a standard notification). I double checked and the contact name and number were correctly displayed on the list of private contacts but the text appears in the normal received text message list. Only one slight difference: the number saved in the contact list is always different from the number on the received text underneath the name, and the difference is related to the international american area code. I was not able to figure out exactly which is the problem but basically sometimes I receive messages with the right name but the number (lets say 999-999-9999) shows up as any of these three
999-999-9999
1999-999-9999
+1999-999-9999
So basically if I save my number as 999-999-9999 sometimes I dont get it on the private box and it shows up with the rite name and with 1999-999-9999 or +1999-999-9999. Very wierd. And things got more complicated: I did a trial with my roomie: if I save his number as 999-999-9999 his texts do not go into the private box, and they show up with his name and 1-999-999-9999 underneath it. If I save instead my roommate number in my contacts as +1999-999-9999, in that case his text shows correctly up in the private box but with NO NAME on it!! So I cant do this since I have no clue who is texting me and I have to search everytime who that text refers to. I am driving crazy. Nobody had experience with this?
Thanks
A.

S Voice & duplicate contacts

If I double click the Home button to bring up S-Voice, then say "call name", it usually recognizes who I want to call. However it always displays 2 phone numbers for the contact and asks which contact I want to call. But the 2 phone numbers are the same!
Somehow the watch is creating 2 contacts per person in my contact list. I have verified that the Contacts on my phone are not duplicated in the address book. Any ideas? I don't see a setting for contacts on the watch or Gear app...
FYI I use the watch in standalone most of the time, so when I call people, it is calling from the watch, not from my phone.

Incoming text messages cut short

I have a Pixel 2 with Sprint, stock. If I get a text that is too long, where it would normally be broken up into multiple texts, I never get the rest of the text. I wasn't too concerned with it until I needed to set up Gmail forwarding to my text for an alert, and Google sends the phone a verification code. That code was cut off halfway through and the rest never comes in. Same thing with having twitter forwarded to my phone, I only get 2/3 of the average message.
I have played with the settings in both android Messages and the phone settings but I cant find anything that makes a difference. I have also tried switching my default messaging app to Facebook Messenger and it still cuts it short, so I have a feeling this is either a phone setting I am not seeing, or a carrier issue.
