I really enjoyed the Inspire but I started to get all crazy reception issues where I couldnt make a call or receive sometimes. Anyone else having these issues? Someone at the att store said alot of ppl are complaining of this.
Yesterday I exchanged for the atrix and it felt a lil bit more snappy, nothing to wow me but I could make calls and receive, no issues at all. My main issue was it would hardly charge on usb from any pc I used, and it would get really hot trying so right there I said, this is going back. In less than 24hrs I was back at the AT&T store to get a new inspire.
I really dont want to have any reception issues, and I almost believe all the flashing roms, radios, kernels, I messed something up along the way. Heck, Im even scared to root now. I want to use the phone totally stock and make sure it works great whereever I am before I root even. I'm also wondering if rooting causes battery to drain quicker.
So I ask all you experienced Android users/developers. Am I right in believing that all the flashing I've done might of messed my reception? Even maybe rooting might have messed something up? If not, is there a way to make a complete backup right now, so I can go right back to this when I do begin to root and what not. I almost feel like the stock rom, when I went back to it and unrooted before I returned the last inspire made no difference. The new Inspire seems to hold a better signal now. So can I back up the current stock rom before I do anything?
Interested to hear what advice this drums up. I went from Atrix (painfully bad PenTile LCD, shamelessly locked down) to Inspire back to my old N1 because I got a few days of no signal and missed calls in the office. I read recently that there's some sort of leaked magical radio that fixes a lot of the issues, so I'm keeping an eye towards the Inspire. $20 at Costco is a worthy use of my contract upgrade.
Yeah, there are other phones coming down the pike. I'm stuck with AT&T and given this is an otherwise solid phone and how awesome HTC tech support has been with my N1 I don't want to go with another mfr. Also Optimus 3D has only 512MB RAM? WTF?
If you have patience, your issues will be ironed out. Inspire ROMs and development is still kind of early.
If you just be patient, GPS...reception....bugs....will all be a thing of the past. Both devices are excellent. HTC build quality and 'openness' is something to envy. Just relax, I think you made a wise choice.
Just out of curiosity, what rom were you running when you started having issues? I'm on stock with root and have yet to have any problems with gps or reception.

nailed my main problems right there (in bold)...
Nice to see you lingering in the inspire forums DG
I purchased the Inspire the day it came out and absolutely loved it. That one had major issues with the screen. It would not register my touch about 80% of the time. So I exchanged that one for another Inspire and the second one had all sorts of problems. Dropped calls, calls no received, no VM notification, random reboots, and of course the always popular, locked phone that required a battery pull.
At that point I just thought the Inspire was not that great of a phone so I exchanged for the Atrix. When the phone arrived I knew two seconds after it booted that I hated the phone. It felt cheap, it was tiny, and Motoblur reminded me too much of TouchWiz - which is a shame because the guts of the phone should have made it a monster but Moto has a long way to go with their Motoblur. Within 2 hours of getting the Atrix I took it back.
So, I am on my third Inspire and so far so good. No missed calls, dropped calls, texts, no reboots, no locks, no problems at all. Right now I am rooted running the stock rom. I have tried a few different roms - RCMiXHD_v5X, LeeDroid_HD v2.2.2, and Android Revolution 4G. I had GPS issues with LeeDroid and Revolution and data problems with RCMiXHD. The phone has performed pretty dang good with root+Stock so I will probably keep it that way. Hopefully a GB version will drop soon because I do like the extra features that brings.
Anyway, thats just my experience.
This thread is getting some good information placed in it, and a good OP as well.
My recommendation is that you follow the hack kit, but stick to ROMs based off of the Stock Inspire ROM for now. As much as I enjoy a UV/OC kernal, I can't say it's making a huge impact in my day-to-day use of this phone. I'm running AR 3.2, without any issues right now on the stock inspire radio, but my next flash will probably be a ROM like ClearDroid.
I also wish we had an easy stock backup procedure, but as far as i know we're stuck with the reflash + s-off combo.
As a side note: Where the heck did DG come from?! It's good to see you popping your head in here. I started with your Super-rooter and lived on Cognition and Perception for my Captivate.

Im not sure which rom was the culprit, I dont want to bad mouth anyones work as it could of just been my doing and I definitely appreciate the hard work and effort the devs put in. But I did experience a few issues trying the revolution rom, I tried different versions. But I also tried several other roms so I cant really pinpoint. I know I like the revolution but would have to leave it because of issues, I kept trying though.
I cant really recall as battery life hasnt been a huge issue for me on the inspire, but for everyone that has rooted their phone, would you say battery life improved or worsened? I'm probably going to root later on tonight.
Oh and why no 'one click' root/unroot scripts for the Inspire yet? Just wondering, because even the atrix had a one click root script.

Yeah I meant more of a legit release not a leaked version. I have tried RCMix and Adroid Revolution and had issues with both. Nothing major but enough for me to go back to stock.
I'm having an oposite dilemma.. I first bought the Atrix and then after i noticed a little lag when unlocking the device i bought the Inspire.. I had the Atrix for 2 weeks and i have had the Inspire for 1 week.
What i have noticed about the Inspire is that when I try to open a .doc file thats only 62kb large, its not nearly as smooth as the Atrix with the scrolling and double tapping to zoom in. I dont know why this is... 62kb is pretty small. When i had the Atrix, it opened the same file super fast and there was no lag at all..
Also, with websites like adultswim and phonedog which has a lot of flash, the Inspire lags quite a bit compared to the Atrix which has little to no lag.
Im very tempted to go back to the Atrix and just live with the little bit of lag when unlocking.. IDK what i should do..

Well good luck in your decision. I dont doubt the Atrix was a tad faster at some things left stock, but that wasnt a main concern for me as I know on the Inspire a rom here a kernel there can remedy that.
I've actually opened .doc and .xls files close to that size on a daily basis with no real lag issue. Then again I'm using Documents To Go, app I used from my Blackberry days. Works pretty smoothly.

Though the Inspire is able the flash roms ....Atrix is by far a better phone. I've played with cousins Inspire, it doesn't compare to my Atrix

I m running the rooted stock rom self-cleaned from the ATT bloat with TiBU in chuck norris mode... No problem with my GPS, no problem with the reception... battery life around one day of pretty intensive use... I notice altough I m not having issues as i mentioned the signal's strength displayed is always pretty low (2/3 on 5)...
I tried ClearDroid but since it was pretty much the same as my 'self-purified' stock i just got back to it...
I don't think the reception's issue was related to the rooting itself... some device is just kinda defective from factory...
In the end it boils down to personal preferences.
I had both and got rid of the Atrix for the Inspire because of screen size and its speedy as is out the box. Don't really see the need for a Dual CoreS unless I'm gonna shell out more cash for the laptop Which I see is pointless since I might as well lug around my Vaio i7. In the end I'm happy with the Inspires build quality and performance.

It depends on your needs/preferences. Specs wise, yes the Atrix might be better but the Atrix does have its issues as well which irked me enough to come back to the Inspire which I liked so much I'm willing to give it a second try. One thing is for sure, I cant see myself getting another Motorola device anytime soon. Been there a few times, and had bad experiences with their locked devices. HTC has been the better experience for me so far and I'm enjoying the Inspire more than I did the Atrix.
Very true about preference...I like the Inspire's size wouldn't want to go bigger. Many hate motor for locking down the BL....but it seems like HTC will be doing the same on future devices

Not trolling, but the phone was almost unusable. I'm wondering if your purchased phones out in the wild are better.
As I would try to swipe between application or home screens, the Charge would "stick" halfway through for about a second, then complete to the next screen. Even when it didn't stick, it was changing screens at maybe 5fps - very jerky. I saw that it had a live wallpaper running (pink/orange with vines swaying back and forth), so I moved to a normal wallpaper. That helped *slightly*, but it was still very laggy.
Sometimes it would completely miss the swipe and register as a click instead, launching the app I happened to start the swipe on. The apps launched quickly - the camera app was perfectly responsive. Makes me wonder if it's demo software they're running, or maybe the bloat UI-ware installed?
Did you guys notice anything similar on real phones, or does a different rom (unbloated) make things better?
I noticed similar issues on the Revolution in the store, but the Thunderbolt was working great. I'm deciding between the three phones and some feedback would be valuable. Thanks!

So get a tbolt or revo. WTF kind of an answer did you expect on a Charge forum. Do a little reading. With minor tweaking the phone runs super fast. Move on troll.
I would go with the charge. It has the best battery life, screen, and is the lightest. Also it has an hdmi port. Once you install voodoo lagfix on it it runs as smooth as any phone at verizon. I had the tb and all it did was die and reboot on me. Also this phone doesn't have a bootloader so it's easy to root and such. The tb root process is long and the revolution has to be bootstrapped just to have a custom recovery which is annoying in the long run. Also sense roms are 180+mb while a touchwiz rom is only 110 mb. So there is my input. I say 1. Charge. 2. Thunderbolt 3. Revolution

Unuseable HA!!
Thanks Papi - Helpful to know that voodoo lagfix works on this device. I thought it was only for Galaxy S devices. I couldn't find mention of anything different on the official voodoo website.
It's also helpful to hear real world comparison of someone who's had the TB and the Charge.
It seems weird that basically all phones coming out have something fundamentally broken with them: GPS won't fix, lag, reboots, camera quality, etc. You would think that at least one phone would come out and just *work*.
Suzook: Relax, man. I was asking if the demo software could be causing the lag. I searched both the Charge General and Charge Dev forums for the word "lag" and only came up with *one* result of a guy recommending OCLF on the market. That made me think it wasn't a common problem. Notice that I said the Revo showed the same problem - I'm not trying to diss your phone.
Geez. It's the internet. Don't take **** so seriously or you run the risk of giving people the impression that you're the drunk guy at the party who's angry and wants to fight, and nobody knows why.
DroidXcon: Holy ****! That's ridiculous! Clearly that phone is capable of much more than the VZW setup.
I never had lag on my droid charge but I am the type the of person who is a crackflasher and I love changing my phone. I never had problems with this phone ever. And ignore the others they troll everyone hahah you could make a thread called no lag here and they would troll and purposely lag there phones. Just relax and go get a charge. I can answer this since I have owned all three of those phones. ThunderBolt (sold it 5 weeks later) Revolution (nice phone, but was concerned about potential lack of Dev support) Charge (nice phone overall, awesome screen).
Yes the ThunderBolt is pretty darn fast and so the drain on the battery. It has a bit more RAM, but other than that the processor is identical to the one in the Revolution.
I had the Revolution for day and I had no lag at all with mine. Snappy, good feel overall, the UI wasn't an issue for me (its subjective) but it seemed as though dev support wasn't going to be there. Turns out XDA-Developers did in fact open a forum for it and its rooted, no more bing.
Charge, again snappy enough, but if there is anything causing a perceived slow down its Touchwiz and perhaps the rfs file system. Both of these are easily address, Voodoo lagfix swaps the file system from rfs to ext4 and voila you get your speed back and Touchwiz, well choose a custom ROM or a different launcher (most do anyways).
I also found the demo units in the store to be on par with each other, but who knows what has been done to the demo's you tried. If I had to choose based on overall product I would get the charge => Revolution => ThunderBolt. They all run 1ghz, and customized to do what you want but sometimes it takes a while for the devs to get everything we want.
The charge has issues with BT, battery life, reboots and lockups. I couldn't deal with it. The Charge is the ONLY one I could get to pair with my 2010 Subaru BT and that was key for me.

Thanks for the awesome perspective. I've decided to grab a pair of Charges from Amazon while they're $149. One for me, one for the wife.
Quick question:
Do you actually mean the charge (in bold), or a different phone? Seems like it might be a typo...
He means the Thunderbolt

My phone might be crazy but I get around 12 hours of strait use on my thunderbolt running @1. 4Ghz
And no reboots yet lol
Edit-
32+ 10Gb storage don't hurt either
THUNDERBOLT
Absolutely no lag here with altered beast. The only downside is remnants of touchwiz.

OP here - Just received my Charge and wanted to followup. It did the EE4 update within about 5 minutes of turning the phone on, so EE4 is my only experience vs the phone in the store. And it's snappy. It isn't buttery smooth, but for a stock kernel without voodoo, it seems perfectly acceptable. It's my wife's phone, so I'll probably just leave it stock until she complains about lag - so far, so good, though!
Thanks for all of the comments.
Altered Beast is definitely awesome and fast. Just needs some work and TO BE UPDATED TO EE4
I'll probably be changing to AT&T and the Infuse 4G, coming from Sprint and an Evo 4G. I know I wont se anything like sense, besides the LauncherPro Sense Theme, and Sense is something I will greately miss a lot :'( but I just want to know what other features I might not see on the Infuse, and if possible also the benefits from switching. Also, is android 2.3.3 available for it? Cause I've been told its still on 2.2. And finally, testing an Infuse at an AT&T store I was unable to download music, it said the file was not supported (an mp3 file...) can the phone download music?? Or will I have to transfer music from my pc?
Sorry for all the questions, but those are the only thoughts/doubts keeping me from switching today as soon as stores open.
you might miss not having an FM radio. and the hdim requires An adapter that you might forget to carry. there is 2.3.3 on the Rogers infuse, soon the firmware will be flashable to the att infuse. now there is a custom rom beta and the final version is in there works that is 2.3.3
the mp3 problem is something that i haven't experienced but some people report it as an issue if the phone is on too long it starts giving file not supported error, i don't know why but i don't have that problem. this phone actually supports more codecs and wrappers than phones from any other manufacturer without 3rd party software. you can definitely download music too it. it also has a hifi headphone amp. multimedia is basically the focus of this and the galaxy s line.
Once you've realized the negative performance impact Sense had on your phone you probably won't miss it either.
Sense was a massive improvement for Windows Mobile phones. It was a minor improvement to the early Android user interface, but these days it's just a bloated step backwards.
as far as 2.3 goes, there is a beta rom in the dev section, and there is also an official AT&T update coming in the next few weeks.
I too came from Sprint / Evo 4G. Here are the pros / cons as I see them, in order of importance to me.
Pros
Battery life
Thin form factor
Weight
Screen
Network speed
Voice / data simultaneously
Cons
GPS
Game compatibility
Speaker volume

lets wait on a better release with a fully working kernel, gps didnt work for me at first. i got mine working good by starting with the jz3 mod and changing a few things, it wouldn't seem to work without secure socket on the supl settings enabled, i took the last two lines out of the gps.conf from jz3.
Only thing I have to add is that the inability to download certain file types may be compounded by the infuse but is also a known froyo issue.
The best work around I've seen for the majority of people is to install astro file manager and then in preferences check the box labeled "enable browser download".
Step by step... install astro, open it, press menu button, scroll down to "Enable browser download", check that and press the back button until you've exited the app. This will act much like the built in download manager in gingerbread. If you have trouble locating downloads that used to go to the tapatalkxdapre folder look in the normal download folder.

I agree as well. The first time you use Sense, it's like wow! Look how beautiful it is. After you try something else, you'll like how clean it is and how much the bells and whistles bog the device down. I now call Sense bloat .
i dont think sense is beautiful at all. it has a cool weather widget, that's it. the launcher is ugly, the menus have too many options, the colors are ugly, too many greys, really outside of the widget i dont see anything about sense that says wow. thoguh vanilla android was pretty gross untill gingerbread came out. touch wiz is ok but i like the hybrid of tw3+tw4 icons+aosp status bar and icons in gtg's rom. that should be what the phone looks like out of the box. and there should be some better widgets.

That phone will be much better than the Infuse, plus have tons of developers supporting.
I might switch to the S2 on ATT too, Sprint's service is really going down. 3G speeds are super bad, like 100k/sec at times in Chicago. And 4G if you can keep a signal is the slowest 4G compared to Verizon's LTE and ATT HSPE

Well first off, i want to thank everybody for their replies, and second appologize for not replying Ive been a little bussy , so after reading all of the replies and asking around ppl who switched to the infuse, Im more convinced than ever that it wont be any dissapointment in any aspect to get an infuse since it would practically be an upgrade. For the speaker, ill miss my Evo's since its sooooo loud, I use the PowerAmp EQ and an app called Equalizer and it really boosts the volume, I'll surely be trying it on the Infuse and see if its any louder. Also as gregj100 mentioned game compatibility, I hope the games I love and really use do work on the phone. Aside from that, if I ever do miss Sense, I read theres a solution: download LauncherPro and download the SenseUI theme, so Im good with that. And as far as music, in any case I'd just transfer it from my pc if the phone doesnt want to download a song for some reason , so yeah Im really looking forward to the switch to the Infuse ;D once again thanks to everyone for the helpful replies.

I agree with u that AT&T is better and much much faster, plus here at home Sprint reception is horrible and they suggested an "Airave" system which I'd have to pa an extra $5 a month, its like im paying to get bad reception and I have to pay even more to get good reception -_-, but anywas I just dont like the 2GB limit, but I can get used to it since I wont use data at home cause I have WiFi ;D, so as far as AT&T Vs Sprint I have no problem switching there either, and as for Galaxy S2, I never was a Galaxy fan but the S2 is really a great improvement, now I'd just have to get used to the square at the bottom instead of all 4 keys (home, menu, back, search) though I never really used search.

the att varient of the gs2 wont have the centered home, anyway you will need to get used to the galaxy s button locations which are different from the evo.

I agree. I had the inspire and the whole sense experience while really cool seemed like a huge resource hog. Couple that with htc already crappy battery and the phone can't even last a day. Sorry but I really don't need all that bloat that is sense.

I came from an inspire as well. While it was a good phone, work picked up my cell and that allowed me to try out the infuse. I absolutely LOVE this phone. Personally, I enjoy it much more the my Inspire (which i gave to my mother-in-law).
Anyway, it's been a while since i had a phone this awesome (was on a long line of iPhone trend before my Inspire).

hm didnt know about the button, I guess thats good for me , and about the buttons yeah when I tried powering on an Infuse for the first time I was trying to find the power button on top, until i looked and saw it on the side ;P just a little getting used to on both phones regardless of which I choose to go for.
Who loves their g2x based mostly on the work the devs contribute? From the guys that build from source code to guys that try to theme through images, xml, and smali , to guys that port working stuff from phone to phone so more users can expatience it.
I love my g2x. I cant think of anything that I want to change within reason, and it got to where it's at by lots of trial and error and help from devs that stepped me thrpugh some processes.
My G2x runs on weapon 2.3.3 rom, and custom themed by my partner and in...super smooth, no reboots, everything that I use works., quick ui. Battery life is hard for me to gauge because I'm always plugging in to push files all day.
You don't wanna know where this was sent from.
I love mine so much! It's such an amazing phone. <3
Great Phone
I love my G2x as well! Running latest CM7 nightly with bluesteel theme by team carbon but I have flashed just about every ROM there is (Crackflasher and this phone handles them all with ease.
Definitely interested in the Nexus Prime but I will still keep my G2x close by. Thanks for your hard work mmapcpro!
After flashing miui rom on it, things just went from bad to awesome!! Now i can really say god i love this phone!
I absolutely HATE this phone! Jk, I cant think of any other phone I'd rather have. The dev support on this thing is amazing!

To be honest...upon first receipt I wanted to return this phone....then I quickly rooted, flashed CM7 (and now MIUI) and I couldn't imagine any other device...the screen bleed issues aside, it is an amazing device....also I have poor battery life, but hey...I don't really get peeved about that.
I have used windows mobile devices since 2004. My last windows phone broke about a year ago and had to use a &%$#berry. In June I upgraded. Knowing I wanted a android but not really knowing the fist thing about it. Sure I had played around with a few devices kind of knew what I was looking for. I got the phone and loved it from the fist min. I will admit this not a beginners or novice users phone.....any how still just as fun now as minute one.

If there was a ROM that allowed one to use Netflix, HBO Go, and control HDMI output, this phone would be tits.

Yep, it's close but not perfect yet. Still trying to decide if I want to stick around long enough to see if it becomes perfect.

Like you I had buyer's remorse. After LG update tool, and EB 1.07 I've had no hardware issues.
The A2DP isn't issue cause I don't use it. Pleased overall but it took a while to get here. Didn't exchange my phone. Didn't see the point, still on my first phone.
So far so good

I took a chance on a second hand one and had it shipped to Thailand before I saw it (reputable supplier I have purchased many devices from). I can only see some minor screen bleed on all black in a dark environment. Other than that I am quite happy with my G2X. Sim unlocked it with a $2.99 code from eBay, updated with LG Updater to 2.3.3 with a minor glitch that was easily overcome, no reboots, no lockups, no problems at all. Just a super fast, super charged phone that loves to eat its battery for lunch. I can get through a day at work but when I get home my beloved G2X cries out for food.
BTW, whoever has said you cannot update without a T-Mobile number is wrong. I had a Thai sim in mine (TOT3G) when I ran the updater and when it got to the part where it said "checking number" it flew right past it. So the guy on Walmart Family Mobile who said his failed on the number check must have had some other issue causing the update to fail.
I'm really enjoying this phone! I made the move from AT&T and a HTC Aria, which I did love. My wife is having a harder time getting to like her phone though. She previously was using a 3GS but by switching to T-mobile we are saving almost 40 a month over AT&T. I know you can unlock Iphones for T-mobile but her 3GS has an upgraded baseband and latest firmware which prevents an untethered Jailbreak and unlock, so no Iphone migration.
I love this phone. I'm running cm7 trigger2 2.3.5 with go launcher, launcher pro+, and Regina launcher. This phone performs flawlessly on all three launchers.
Big ups to G2x!!!

I love my G2x. Almost brought it back after reading all the issues here but I'm glad I didn't. I have used XBoarders rom and now Weapon G2x.
My wife and I both love our G2x's. Now that EaglesBlood 2.3.3 has improved the battery life dramatically I can't find a single thing to ***** about except the back button in the browser. A minor issue but annoying considering it work as it should with froyo.

Hey guys, i am currently interested in getting the g2x to dev on. I dev for the Moto defy since the day it came out and have plenty of roms. Now my question is how are you guys experience with this device? I've read some complaints of tons of reboot and back light leak, poor signal..etc.. Any comments would be much appreciated, looking forward to getting this phone
Very good device. Some have backlight bleed but only really noticeable in the dark and when looking at it on an angle.
I haven't had any reboots recently but once when i got a call and after hung up it just died and had to pull battery.
Main problem seems to be that Nvidia's lack of sources for A2DP functionality for stereo bluetooth and that 2.3.3 is on froyo kernel so further updates with custom roms would be difficult.
thanks for the reply, how are the roms? Any problems with current roms ?

In all honesty, CM7 works perfectly even with the lack of a2dp support. 2.3.3 OTA based roms (namely Weapon G2x) works just as well if you want that close to stock feel with more features. MIUI has all the same problems CM7 does since they run off the same kernel.
I've never had any issues with reboots, and if people do it's probably because of rogue apps running in the background. I never had a reboot because I like keeping my app drawer as minimal as possible At least, that is my theory
I love my g2x..just checked the sgs2 but not really into that much, my g2x on Cm7 was faster... The roms are good, I do agree with the lack of tegra support but Meh. Love it..please get one and welcome..
I love my phone.
Excellent performance, excellent display, and excellent battery life. I'm on my 3rd one, but that was because my first one kept locking up, and my 2nd replacement came damaged.
I love this phone, and I wouldn't want to replace it with anything else until the Nexus Prime. ^_^
Absolutely zero problems, love this phone so much. One of the best parts is the glass. It's curved, which makes unlocking it feel really good , and the glass feels really thick and solid. Also NO scratches, coming from an iphone all these things are huge. Loving it.
I feel like this phone can stay up to date with most of the devices coming out right now... On Android, you don't actually need 1GB of RAM... Heck, 512MB is more than enough! I'm gonna hold out until the quad core phones start coming in... If the Nexus Prime is still a dual core, I won't even bother.
I got 99 experiences but a reboot ain't one.
My 1st G2x is running good.
no reboots, no reception issues.
runs great and my app drawer always has at least 200 apps.
lol
I haven't started deving /theming on it yet.
Thanks everyone for you input! Just placed the order for it and cant wait to get. Never dev for any other devices besides moto , so im looking forward to this.
Awesome a new dev!!! Wanna thank you in advance. Good luck

Reboots
My wife and I both have our 3rd G2x (due to replacements of bad phones). The phones we have now are doing well, however we both did experience a random SHUTOFF not reboot. It only happened twice, so I'm just waiting to see if that happens again, really weird.
My G2x is is running great. On my second one due to random shut downs on my first. I only experienced a couple reboots until I got a brand new battery and rooted the phone. Currently running Eagles Blood 2.3.5 others no misshaps. Love it.

This is a great phone. For those of us that have had no problems, the intended impact of the device is evident.
However, you cannot ignore what a lot of people went through. for many, the g2x experience was the worst possible.
LG and T-Mobile appear to have let the phone fade away. Even though its for sale, and can be had for cheap, it no longer appears in comparison with other good phones on the market today. Check the reviews out their today...cnet, etc....The powers that be have let it fade away.
Even DEVs appear to have moved on. Many of the people here a few months ago have moved to other devices. Even saying that, there are some real good ROMs out there...just less people deving them.
In all honesty I have to say, this phone is the best phone I've owned. But in that same honesty, I'd have to say, you may want to consider something else. Even the Sensation is now getting far more press and exposure from T-Mobile than this beauty. There are TONs of ROMs available for the Sensation and some of the best DEVs from the android world are there.
I've recently considered the Bionic....but the VzW pricing plan is just too much. Minimum $100 a month to walk out with a Bionic.
I love the G2x. But if you want long term upgradabiity...you may wish to look elsewhere.
Just my opinion....

No. It just finds it. Maybe not on second one, but 10-20.
Also, I came to G2x from the Bold, which would die in a day with no usage under dead zones. That was a huge problem - I was forced to enable and disable airplane mode all around. The G2x is great in that matter.

I have noticed that a lot of problems happen under the stock ROM or roms based on the stock one.
Flashing something like CM7 or MIUI fixes a lot of problems.
